    People forget how well it plays on the snes. Beside it being alittle visually inferior, the gameplay is phenomenal.
    Sometimes gameplay doesn’t translate during ports, but the nintendo and the staff at Capcom did something great!

      It sounds really good on SNES and looks better than the Megadrive-Port what sounds like ear cancer. The 16bit-port clearly goes to the SNES, same with SF 2 Turbo/SCE (my opinion!)

    • @jaymum23
      @jaymum23 Год назад +1

      It’s very visually inferior, not just a little. The World Warrior and Turbo ports were noticeably downgraded even though for the time they were considered great ports because home hardware was many times weaker than arcade hardware. And those were on CPS1. Super ran on CPS2 and the background detail alone couldn’t run close to faithfully on SNES. I believe CPS 2 has a 16 million color pallet and could display 4,096 onscreen at once, rather than just the 256 the SNES was limited to. That’s to say nothing of the resolution, sprite size and RAM limitations. Look at the crowd animation on T Hawk’s stage versus the SNES. That’s a generational difference.

    A great port. It still amazes me that with all the graphical upgrades and added animations over the years they still never updated the generic male body form when in flames. Looks totally unnatural as half the cast when on fire.

  • @Ryuujin1078

    I laugh at these comments saying “Arcade wins”! No shit, I think we all know that all arcade conversions to the 16-bit console were never going to beat but closely match the arcade original. That’s not the point of these videos, it’s to see just how close these ports were.

    • @fedeac31
      @fedeac31 4 года назад +9

      I have a hunch, that most of those comments come from younger people who never lived through the "arcade era".
      Back then, it wasn't like the "PS4 vs XBone" comparison. You weren't deciding which one you would buy. You could only _dream_ about having an arcade. And you got really excited when the home console port was close to the original.
      And you got excited because it was the only way you could get your "fix" from the comfort of your own home, without waiting in line for the machine, having to put up with the noise and the heat of the usual arcade, spending your quarters like crazy when you got to play, and dealing with people passively pressuring you to release the machine, because they wanted their fix too.
      Think of it like going to the gym vs. owning a home gym. Yes, the home gym isn't the same. But you love it, because you don't have to plan your routine and schedule around some jerk that's been chatting and taking selfies on the training bench for half an hour and claims to be "resting between series". And maybe you still need to go to the gym sometimes. But the home gym is a more comfortable experience.
      That's what the arcade era was like.

      @@greensun1334not going to judge you by your preference. You like what you like, but the Mega Drive version has more differences. Has more voices like the voice intro before a fight and also has extra scenes in the endings missing from the SNES.
      Other than that The snes and MD backgrounds have minor differences in animations where one background has more animations than the other. It’s pretty negligible. The MD portraits keep the blood.
      The one clear advantage is the colors. The MD doesn’t get criticised enough on how washed out it is.
      Personally I think both could have done better. The colors on the MD version of championship edition were better than Super. The snes has too many recycled assets from turbo. For a premium game that was kinda crap.

    • @greensun1334
      @greensun1334 4 месяца назад +1

      @@sloppynyuszi indeed, the MD port has a better animated Ryu in the intro, some more pixels of blood and an intact announcer voice at the begin of each round, the music keeps playing between the rounds and it has some more pics at the endings, up to 4* speed (SNES: 3*) and a cart size of 40megs (SNES: 32megs) - while the SNES port makes use of a third parallax scroll layer in some stages, it has better colors and overall sound quality (but compared to SNES SF2 Turbo, it sounds still bad). There are other, minor differences as well, like some missing background animations in the MD version, but at least both ports play very good. The sound is the main reason why I prefer to play the SNES port, I don't understand how a sequel sounds this bad, because the music in MD SCE was pretty good!

      Walter Amorim I guess it started Street Fighter 2 Turbo it funny it like “STOP THE MUSIC THE CHARACTER GOT KO” or some fight games do that when character KO the songs stop, but The World Warrior on SNES kept going while character got KO after that song ended when points done for scoring.

    • @tssf
      @tssf Год назад

      @@peepsg No, all SNES Street Fighters stopped the music and restarted them inbetween rounds because of the limited audio RAM the SNES had. If you look here, you can see the screen freezes before the "You Lose" or "You Win!" part, because it's loading the announcer and crowd noises into audio RAM, as well as the current character's voices into RAM to play them. You couldn't have those sounds playing if the music continued to play. That screen freezing was a very large reason as to why Street Fighter Alpha 2 SNES had the major load times before rounds.
      It's also the same reason why you didn't have any of the round numbers announced. It was either have good musical instrumentation or have SFA2 style samples and everything would sound like garbage just so you can hear them announce "Round 1! Fight!" at the start.
      SF2, SF2 Turbo, and SSF2 on SNES all compensated by playing the music dynamically faster once the round was about to end due to a knock out.
      Capcom should have tried to learn how to stream sound effects and the announcer voices into Audio RAM like Tales of Phantasia did with its intro music that had vocals

      IIRC the prevailing wisdom in the 1980s/1990s across Japanese arcade game developers (I think some sort of study had been done?) was that if you lighten/desaturate the palette in your arcade game, the screen will be more eye-catching to players in a dark arcade, so that sure looks like the case here, and honestly, in a home version, the palette is probably going to be closer to "intended" or "normal" (though the adjusted SNES palette may just be created/compensated for after the fact to look that way)

    This might be the greatest and most accurate arcade translation ever. In fact, the SNES version might be superior to the arcade if you look at the total package 📦.

    Lógico que o arcade é superior mais e um port muito foda e milagroso pois a cps2 era montra na época porém conseguiram fazer um port excelente a Capcom nesta época era caprichosa neste quesito de explorar o máximo do potencial do console e mostra também como o super Nintendo era sim uma máquina incrível no seu tempo não é atoa seu título de melhor console da história do consoles

    I couldn't figure out why arcade games always look brighter than console games. They look better mostly because of the vivid color scheme. Why is this thing difficult to achieve in home consoles?

      They have no unique fighting style. Capcom ran out of ideas. Even the Bruce Lee character is unimaginative. SNK winning at 2d fighters at this point in time with Samurai Shodown.

    • @davezanko9051
      @davezanko9051 2 года назад +2

      @@iwanttocomplain I kinda agree. The new characters were just kinda dull. A Bruce Lee clone after Mortal Kombat already gave us Liu Kang, a mediocre break dancing Jamaican and a bad stereotype of a Native American were just plain poor. There's a reason Cammy is the only one that stuck around as a significant character in later games.
