The sound is misleading. The audio chip is much more capable than the 3do on the Saturn. The voices sound crappy on the 3do. The music is redone, so that's a subjective view.
Also, the Saturn was designed as a 2D powerhouse, so naturally a 2D game would be capable of way more on it than on competing hardware. It's 3D games that were the Saturn's weak point, largely because of how poorly 3D support was implemented into the system (i.e. slapping on a second CPU with zero cross-talk and using square polygons instead of triangles).

@@husamshaker9251 nope, Super Turbo was a 3D0 console exclusive for years and the 3D0 version puts any SNES or Genesis or PC Engine version to shame. Exactly right. SSF2 may not have been SSF2T but it’s basically the same stages. People are being ridiculous. And yes, the SNES and Genesis had more background animations than 3D0. Honestly it’s hard to believe 3D0 was ever meant to compare to the Saturn or PSX as 99% of 3D0 games looked like complete trash. 32X, 3D0 and Jaguar were all interchangeable garbage. Even their best games looked like crap.
Saturn definite win, small extra loading time for: Much more particle effects Many more frames of animation Extra animation in backgrounds that 3D0 doesn't have Better colours pallets No censor
Saturn wins on having parallax and the original arcade music. I've always hated arranged soundtracks, they could at least have given the option to switch.
Hmmm. The 3DO port had slightly lower load times, but censors blood from the character lose portraits and lacks parallax scrolling for backgrounds. Saturn is uncensored and has parallax scrolling, but has slightly longer load times. Both look to play well, but I give the slight nod to the Saturn port.
Is it just me or does something seem off about the floor? It looks like the 3DO version just scrolls left and right but the Saturn port(Which I assume is arcade) it looks like the angles of the floor change as the characters move. Maybe it's just me.
Parallax scrolling. It's missing in some stages in the 3DO version, though it's present in others (Chun-Li's stage for instance). Presumably it was omitted from certain stages for performance reasons.
It's a bit weird the 3DO version loses absolutely ALL parallax depth effects.. I have looked into the hardware and it should have been able to do at least a basic 2 layer setup which would have been better than nothing. Is the 3DO version the only way to get that soundtrack? Anyone know?
The remixed music is also on the Street Fighter Anniversary collection that's on ps2 and xbox. I ripped the tracks from it and replaced the music in the saturn version with those tracks since I got tired of hearing the arcade tracks. that's why people always hear them when I uploaded my saturn videos for the game. As for the backgrounds on the 3DO version, I was told the game might have been rushed to the system and that's why so many animations are missing even on the characters. even the hit detection and game speed are off from the arcade so that could be true about it being rushed.
Saturn is closer to the arcade original with background scrolling, more animations of people in the backgrounds, etc. 3D0 has unique music unlike anything I heard in other versions of the game, different and good. Both are great versions of one of the best fighters ever, gun to my head, Saturn version is slightly better.
agreed, also Saturn version had a perfect standard 6 button controller to play the game, but the 3D0 had this version of SF2 as a console exclusive for years before any other console did. So for a little while 3D0 was the only version avaliable. Love the AKuma theme music in the 3D0 game.
Strange that the blood was removed from 3DO, since bloodless fights didn't lower its ESRB rating. And it's not as if Panasonic/3DO Company (or whatever) had a family-friendly image to uphold. (See 'Way of the Warrior')
The parallax scrolling backgrounds of the Saturn port look far nicer than the 3DO's single layer backgrounds, and the line-scrolling floor effect looks more convincing on the Saturn, but swear I noticed a few extra frames of character animation on the 3DO, which is weird considering it has less VRAM compared to the Saturn.
Are you sure? For certain I see more animation frames on Saturn, look at hula girl at start. On Saturn there is even elements that are animated where on 3D0 they are static. (Guys on table on left in first round, person down alley in chunli stage...)
@@televisionandcheese Ah, my apologies, I realise my comment was poorly worded. I was talking about the fighters themselves, not the characters in the background. I may be wrong as I only really skimmed through it. The Saturn being the 2D powerhouse it is probably does have better graphics all-round, and taking resolution into account, it's pretty much night and day.
Nothing on the 3do is animated more than the saturn version, the saturn has all arcade animations as well as animating Ryu a little more than the arcade in the opening while he's doing his fight stance and forming the hadoken. On 3do characters along with backgrounds are missing animations but you won't really notice it unless you look for them but thankfully not missing the large amount of frames the snes and genesis are missing. The only thing that's really off with the saturn version like with all cps1 and 2 games ported to it is the HUD is out of place due to the system not supporting the same resolution as the arcade version and capcom had to move them a little so they fit on screen properly. 3do, like I mentioned in the last video comparing the continue screen it is a better port than anything the 16 bit consoles could do but the system has a serious control problem even if you use the fight pad that was made for it and the game doesn't run smooth at all when you play on the faster speeds while the saturn and ps1 versions don't have these problems. As for music, for anyone that doesn't like the arcade music they can do like I did with he saturn and swap the music tracks for something better and I swapped them out for the music that plays on the 3do version. :)
Better colors, nice remixed music and shorter loading times but the missing parallax scrolling on 3DO hurts a little bit. Just like Doom (the port is without music), SSF2 is one of the few good games for that overpriced console but only if you own the optional 6 button controller...
You're totally wrong about doom on the 3do. It was an appalling, rushed port with a terrible frame rate and unresponsive controls. It did have music though, and it really kicked ass!
There is no question here the Sega Saturn steals the show in every category accept maybe music. Unless of course you're a purist and in that case it's a Saturn sweep. Now, that doesn't mean the 3DO version was bad actually it was the best rendition of Street Fighter at the time bar none. The one thing that it's sorely missing is parallax scrolling. That was a feature in even the 16-bit ports.
Thank you for the video I own the super Street fighter two turbo for 3DO not the grandmaster version and also on super Street fighter two turbo for the Saturday night the grandmaster version I love the 3-D oh version and I still love them both but I have to give credit where credit is due the Sega Saturn looks better. I never realized how much of a difference it was because I never saw them side-by-side pretty excellent video
Can you compare Super Street Fighter II Turbo on Street Fighter Collection between ps1 vs saturn? Because I can't find anyone review or compare both of them.
There's something strange about the resolution. The 3DO version has adapted its resolution to display fully, even if it means modifying the graphics (the cage in Chun Li's level has lost a pair of rungs and in the Guile level it misses a part of the boombox), while on Saturn the game retains the original ratio but is missing the sides of the screen.
Saturn wins with more animation and parallax. I just wish it had a toggle to allow playing against the arcade version's mad AI. Both 3DO and Saturn tone the AI down a little much.
Certain commenters have noted the (imaginary) loading time difference... and those people are incorrect. The 3DO version's loading time is almost identical to the Saturn's (it is *not* faster). The difference is, Capcom hadn't begun to add "Now Loading" text to those screens back when the 3DO conversion was done. 3DO just has a black screen, but the loading between fights is the same.
The "480i" resolution on 3DO is interpolated, not interlaced (a type of upscaling from 320x240p internal resolution to 640x480i output CRT res). Although, you can mod the console to output a cleaner image quality of 240p without any issue. Its a very nice option if you wish play 2D games with clearity.
@@retroboy-fh1ji Yes I know about the mod for 240p, but it does not work on every model. Its not perfect as it can randomly sync to the wrong line resulting in an image worse than the default output, and has to be toggled multiple times to look correct. In addition the 3do' s best output by default is S-Video with out a difficult mod that has many tiny pins to solder.
I love the Saturn but have always been intrigued by the 3DO. There’s a lot of great games on the Saturn that people don’t know about. But on the 3DO there’s even more unknown or under appreciated games. The 3DO was a real console, unlike the Jaguar, Amiga CD32, FM Towns Marty, or the 32X. It has a vast library of games.
"c o m" / "s" / "f e J F C D G Q n e a"
The boat in Ken's stage doesn't move in the 3DO version when it does in the Saturn version. Also the 3DO version doesn't have parallax. Saturn wins this one hands down.

I own both but love the 3DO soundtrack 😎
I used to play the 3do version so much but never noticed those background differences Dhalsim's stage is brutal on the 3do smh.
Saturn = Arcade 1:1
3DO = Best Sounds
People forget the saturn version came out alot later.
Both versions look great. Saturn seems to win out in nearly every category, though.
I disagree, the 3do is missing allot visually
Saturn, no contest.
Arcade-perfect animation means intact gameplay, so this is the best version.
Also, colours are off in the 3DO version.
3DO = less main sprites animations, less background animations, NO paralax scrolls in the back
Saturn = more main sprites animations, all the background animations, all the paralax scrolls in the back
That was a hell of soundtrack capcom did for the 3do version some really nice remixes mucn better than the arcade
PRESS START or PUSH START ???
The SNES and Genesis versions have more background animation than the 3DO version LOL
There wasn't a snes or genesis version of this actual game. Hope this helps
@@chadbrick67 there was but not (Turbo). Hope this helps
@@husamshaker9251 nope, Super Turbo was a 3D0 console exclusive for years and the 3D0 version puts any SNES or Genesis or PC Engine version to shame. Yeah, it was missing one level of parallex in the background, but overall, looked and sounded way better than the other versions of the time while having the most refined version of SF2.
@@hepwo91222 come on man, a 32-bit version of street fighter that doesn't have a moving elephants in Dhalsim's stage !!!
They were suppose to make a faithful version to the Arcade
Exactly right. SSF2 may not have been SSF2T but it’s basically the same stages. People are being ridiculous. And yes, the SNES and Genesis had more background animations than 3D0. Honestly it’s hard to believe 3D0 was ever meant to compare to the Saturn or PSX as 99% of 3D0 games looked like complete trash. 32X, 3D0 and Jaguar were all interchangeable garbage. Even their best games looked like crap.
The 3DO port was pretty good for its time, but the Saturn one rocks in almost every aspect, except the music.
Sega flop' Saturn wins.
By ear it seems that the tracks sound better on 3do. And the background animation is better on Sega.
Saturn definite win, small extra loading time for:
Much more particle effects
Many more frames of animation
Extra animation in backgrounds that 3D0 doesn't have
Better colours pallets
No censor
Very good comparison !!
Saturn wins on having parallax and the original arcade music. I've always hated arranged soundtracks, they could at least have given the option to switch.
3DO version is good but the Saturn version is GOD LIKE!!!
Hmmm. The 3DO port had slightly lower load times, but censors blood from the character lose portraits and lacks parallax scrolling for backgrounds. Saturn is uncensored and has parallax scrolling, but has slightly longer load times. Both look to play well, but I give the slight nod to the Saturn port.
3D0 = better sound
Love the AKuma theme music in the 3D0 game.
it seems that the 3do version is an exellent conversion too. The Sega Saturn is a 2d hardware olymp
Background in the 3DO version has no Paralax effect... Still a great version, though.
3DO held the Super SF IIX crown for home ports... before Capcom released the Saturn version (in SF Collection).
I still want this for the snes 😣 Rip
Thank you for the video I own the super Street fighter two turbo for 3DO not the grandmaster version and also on super Street fighter two turbo for the Saturday night the grandmaster version I love the 3-D oh version and I still love them both but I have to give credit where credit is due the Sega Saturn looks better. I never realized how much of a difference it was because I never saw them side-by-side pretty excellent video
3DO is impressive yet expansive, I'll recommend the Saturn port.
3DO seems slightly faster on loading, but...the Segasaturn is the decisive winner here.
Can you compare Super Street Fighter II Turbo on Street Fighter Collection between ps1 vs saturn? Because I can't find anyone review or compare both of them.
Man Sega screwed the saturn everywhere except JP, Should've had a better life.

And once again, Sega Saturn wins.
Sega Saturn is the best box.
Dood_Sanshiro no 100% sound is very bad on Saturn
Best soundtrack on the 3D0 slap this one any other version tho and the rest is history.
3DO without loading? How they can do this in cd format?
Saturn wins with more animation and parallax. I just wish it had a toggle to allow playing against the arcade version's mad AI. Both 3DO and Saturn tone the AI down a little much.
Certain commenters have noted the (imaginary) loading time difference... and those people are incorrect.
The 3DO version's loading time is almost identical to the Saturn's (it is *not* faster). The difference is, Capcom hadn't begun to add "Now Loading" text to those screens back when the 3DO conversion was done. 3DO just has a black screen, but the loading between fights is the same.
Saturn gets the crown again bigger sprites and better frames and animation
3DO - Better music
Saturn - Better graphics.
The lack of parallax scrolling is pretty noticeable in the 3DO version.
Mateoski 3do is also missing background character animation compared to the Saturn version which IMO is an arcade perfect conversion.....lol👍👍
3DO
People really like that 3DO soundtrack over the Saturn's with the original arcade music??
Not me. I'm more of an arcade purist, so the arranged tracks should never be more than an optional extra in the home conversions.
@@m.jordan5181 agreed
3do better music, yet... 480i 🙄. Saturn , more animation, larger sprites , better controller and actual 240p output.
Backgrounds are much better on the Saturn version. Dhalsim stage is very telling.
"c o m" / "s" / "f e J F C D G Q n e a"
@@hailtonspindola9235c mesmo hackeou? Legal!
I own the arcade board so I win!
The saturn version has the same audio as the ps1 and arcade version. But I like the saturn version
Saturn have more details and animations.
3DO sounds better.
The boat in Ken's stage doesn't move in the 3DO version when it does in the Saturn version. Also the 3DO version doesn't have parallax. Saturn wins this one hands down.
Sempre achei a resolução desse jogo do 3do fraca comparado à do saturn. Não sei se é impressão.
