Underrated. Best song on the album I think

My favorite Wilco song. Saw them again last night in Indianapolis. Keep hoping they will play it, but it’s rarely on the set list.

Stirratt kills it in this performance

You're so right! Love this song too and it's always a treat live.

One of the very coolest things about this song, originally, was the vocal octave spilt on not only the chorus, but the verses as well. Weird that Tweedy eliminated them live.

Thanks for your comment, Colin! I think on the original recording the vocals are actually doubled Elliot-Smith-style on the verse, as opposed to an octave split. That would either require John Stirratt to sing lead along with Jeff or for the team to implement a live doubler, which I agree would sound cool. Definitely miss that aspect of the song when they perform it live, but love when they play it, and especially dig they way the do the breakdown.

Yeah agreed. I would've liked to hear them because that one of my favorite parts of the recording, but this performance was still unique and great as expected.

I am more sad that they cut the feedback noise.

This song is really "Layla" turned on its side. The ending coda has the feel of the last seconds of Layla and that's a cool sonic sound.

I love this one on studio, but live it sounds just... empty? I think YHF is dependent on it's great production, so translating it to live shows is a little hard. Just my opinion.

The chorus' were done good in my opinion. I think I just needed a little bit more of the acoustic guitar and bassin the verses instead of the simple downstroking thing they were doing.
