Do Thicker Solar Cables Mean More Power?

  • A completely unscientific test where I have upgraded some of my solar panels to better cable to see if there is a consistent improvement in power generation due to reduced voltage drop.
    Please don't comment about any of the many variables that I haven't considered here. I was curious about this so I thought I'd share the results in case anyone else is. It makes sense that the voltage drop would be lower on a thicker cable but I didn't know if this would mean any practical, noticeable and consistent increase in power from the panels over such a short extension (10 metres).

    I would say no, all would provide better thermal management

    Most of PV setup runs on series rather than parallel or xs-2p config. Try to run at parallel for example 16p config and see it for yourself 😂
