Listening to this really enriches the Star Citizen experience for me. It's understandable that immersion comes from high fidelity and believable special effects but they can really never take the place of a well sorted out story, driving the experience. Most people who play games focus on the what but never really ask the "why". Rich lore like this is where the rubber meets the road. For example, when I first heard about the lore of Crusader Industries, I couldn't help but permanently move my spawn point there. You have a kindred affinity to the place you wake up to when you understand it's history. Bravo.
@@TheAstroHistorian People can sometimes recall the author's of the books they've read... but they will always remember the story teller who read it TO them. J.R.R. Tolkien wrote The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. But in those circles, you'd be hard pressed to find someone who doesn't know or remember Peter Jackson. The story teller is as important as the story itself.
I’ve never even played, but have been watching this since I woke up and am halfway through the 3rd, and honestly these videos are probably the best promotional videos a video game company could ever get. The creator deserves a contract with the company themselves rather than a Patreon, this was a straight up documentary. What an amazing feat.
As someone about to dive into the Star Citizen universe I stumbled across this series and have now sat and watched all 3 on the same day, hope number 4 isn't far away.
After having seen all three parts, is crazy to think that 99% of human progress happens because of accidents or dumb pure luck. Jump points are always a lucky find, the ships we fly succeed on accidents, and first contact was a lucky accident.
It more or less lines up with history IRL. We often stumble through innovation rather than through genius planning. Remember even the Columbian exchange, one of the most impactful events in human history, happened because Columbus thought the world was smaller than every scientist had said it was for well over a century. Turns out Columbus was indeed wrong but no one knew there were 2 giant continents in the middle of that huge ocean. Pure dumb luck he didn't just die.
You have no idea. To put it in perspective this video started in 2402 and ended in 2474. The next video will end around 2541. The video after that will cover only 4-6 years. Every video following is likely going to be between a 10 and 50 years of time. The current time in lore is 2953. That is also not mentioning that since I started this several new companies and bits of information about topics I have already covered have been added/changed. Needless to say the lore is far more in depth than many people realize.
Ngl the description of first encounter with alien life cracked me up because all I could think was that the alien was like a naturalist coming across a primitive tribe. If they loose some spears or arrows at you, just stay calm and very still... 🤣 Great vid btw
Awesome timing, lol. Perfect way to kill time while waiting for the server to respond. I've been waiting at Orison to retrieve my ship for 30 minutes 🤣.
Easily an additional 10 more episodes. The closer we get to the current time, 2953, the more lore there is for the narrative. So each episode will cover less time and be the same length.
WHEN WILL YOU RELEASE PART 4!!!!! This yhas been one of the best youtube series ive ever watched, I want to know what continues to happen in the 2500'S With the first war to utilize aegis gladius spacecraft. cant wait!!!
This is amazing! for someone who has played for over a year and never understood the lore, id like to say thank you for making it so easy and comprehendible!
I have said it before and will continue to say it. Paul you are awesome for this content, we really do appreciate it. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw Ch3 was available lol
I mean, when you have nearly ten years of development time to establish the backstory of the universe, there's gonna be a lot to take in. I'm not entirely sold on Star Citizen, but I'm definitely looking forward to Squadron 42.
@@TheAstroHistorian I hope so. Chris has definitely brought in a lot of old friends from Wing Commander and new talent for this one. Also, can't wait for the next video in this series. Definitely a subscriber now.
I’ve been playing star citizen for two years I just recently stumbled upon your channel and it has brought the game to life so much and has made it 10 times more fun very very very well done!!!
Again, very well done. I admire your work and dedication. I am glad that there is someone who is able to show people the lore of Star Citizen in a cohesive and comprehensible way. Your work will definitely not go unnoticed! Can't wait for the next part!
Such an amazing and deep history that has unfolded before me! This brings so much more meaning to the game for me. Your storytelling and pacing is perfect, and it feels like I'm watching a documentary of our future. Thank you so much for these wonderful videos and can't wait for the next one! Fly Safe! o7
Good stuff. It would be great to have a date timeline at the bottom of the screen that moves as you progress through the history. I like to know when we are in the narrative. Obviously most of this one was in the 25th century but it would be a nice ongoing reference point going forward and I think would ground the narrative visually.
I'mm confused, one of the planets with the best terraforming candidacy was a smog world, but later its's said that the military was trying to figure out how to make smog worlds terriformable
Naw there are 2 planets which were terraformable, 1 was naturally habitable, another was a candidate, and the high nitrogen smog world was the best candidate to actually terraform a smog world which are currently impossible to do in the Lore of SC right now.
It's coming, my editor has been without internet for about a month now but as soon as they get everything back up it will hit production. Expect 3-4 weeks for it.
Love the videos, but not a fan of the computer voice graphic thingy. Keep up the good work though. Prefer the graphics and image styles of the first two over the 3rd part.
@@UraiTheSmoke hmm honestly, it didnt standout to me, so thats a was probably fine. I'll have to go back and watch them now. Just something about it being right in middle of screen during most times, was distracting to me personally. Don't change anything, I just know people rarely get actual feedback on stuff like this in videos, so I thought I'd share.
@@UraiTheSmoke Going back and checking other video now, yeh I think other one was better, but it was also not on the screen a lot. I preferred the style of those videos with the graphics and stuff taking up a lot more of screen and not as fuzzy. This one felt more like everything was in a old TV static screen tunnel. Again, just honest feedback, you do you, the videos are great.
@@_lewtz thanks for replying. I blend everything together with a TV style effects. But I did use voice change and use the voice graphic more this around. I already made note about it for review for the next.
25 systems... That would be nice but we are stuck in one system in SC that wasn't even mentioned in the lore. However I really enjoyed watching this. It gave me ideas of what SC could be.
I've waited too long for this!
The man himself.. the voice of SC
Well now I know this channel is legit!
We all did 😂

Synthworld wasn't started until the post Messer Era. So its a good 500 years away from this episode.
