Great points, Heather----Thank you! Last week I threw out 2 pairs of shoes, that were just beyond help. (Before throwing out, see if you can have your shoes repaired!)
Very helpful advice! I think before and after pictures speak volumes.... like the difference between a poor bra (with clothes on) and a good fitting one.
Hello awesome Heather! One extra tip - there are some really great wireless, pull over bras out there nowadays. They're great for stay- at- home days, casual outfits, active wear, and even every day. I wore Victoria's Secret bras every day for many years, but now wear sport bras 90% of the time. They've really improved and provide that smooth look we're looking for.
Personally, I'm not a fan of stepping into a sports bra and pulling over my head is a bit of a hassle.I know it works for many women so thanks so much for your suggestion. I seem to need clips on the back and I just bought a Knix one with no underwire and I love it!

@@lovingourage totally agree! Your hair is gorgeous! Great color, texture, wave. Far too many older women chop it off rather than leaving it long, soft and feminine. 🌱
Sorry but the long hair ages you. Shoulder length would be more flattering. I’m 67 and my hair is longer but about 5 inches less than yours. You certainly have the right to wear it as you wish but it makes you look like an old flower child lol!
I guess since they're the last thing to go on we don't think about them. I have dozens of shoes and always seemed to go for the worn out comfy ones LOL
I find myself watching fashion videos done by younger women just to see what they enjoy wearing. Lots of them have that slender lean body type that makes everything they wear very cute. I am not slender and lean, but I get ideas for trying some new things that I had never thought of before. I have enjoyed finding a few new pieces that make my style more contemporary while still maintaining my own style. It really helps to look around and to try some new things!
Lol I'm guilty of shoes that fell apart after 20 years (Ralph Lauren loafers that I paid $80 I think I got my investment out of it? Lol. Love your videos, thanks ever so much!
Lots of great tips! 100% agree about the shoes, and thank goodness they now have stylish athletic shoes that don't make you feel "old!" P.S. I love your long hair! It looks so good on you. Not everyone can wear long hair, but you definitely can. I think it makes you look younger!! ♥
Good advice about the shoes. We need to look at all of our shoes, not just the overly worn ones. I went through my shoes today and decided I needed to weed out a pair of loafers that I've had for years. They aren't worn out, but the style is very much out of style. I'm ready to say goodbye to a pair of sandals that I bought last year that have a high, chunky heel. That was a fashion mistake for a woman of my age - 55. They are a retro 70's style that was trendy, not a classic look that would take me through several summers to come. A pair of wedge sandles are going, too. They look cheap, and they were cheaply made. It was what I could afford at the time, but now I look for better material and construction in my footwear. I don't need to be cheap anymore. Good quality classic clothing and shoes will last and look better for many more years than cheap fast fashion.
..... People tend to think that my favourite colour is" black ", .... It isn't , lol..... But I have a closet that contains about . .... .2/3 black clothing. I just like wearing black, but I also have other colours I pair with my black clothing. Yes, I was in a rut, not so much because of the colour of what I was wearing..... It had more to do WITH WHAT I was wearing..... I've recently been going through my closet, and updating my clothier. I adore " longer tops/ shirts", ALWAYS have. I am only 5'2" and about 115 lbs but I like the way they look and I like my " butt covered", lol ! 🙂😁. Blessings, thank you for nice video.
@@lovingourage .... So true, and you're welcome!!! And a lovely scarf or jewelry, ties it together . You are an inspiration to many , and of course ... The" Cuteness Factor" is always a bonus. 🙂😊🐶
Hi Heather: Where can I find those longer tops with 3/4 sleeves....Amazon? Looking great, as always, & great tips. Thank you! Happy Thanksgiving to you & Bill and your family..Hurricane included! :-) Rosemarie
I know that Amazon has great tops in 3/4 sleeves available in dozens of styles. I have been very happy with my purchases from them Rosemarie. Happy Thanksgiving to you too!!
Instead of throwing out your favorite shoes, just take them to your local cobbled. They also fix leather! I can’t wear heals because I have MS and orthodics so I bought leather fashion sneakers for summer and boots in the winter with a low heal.
What is a good way to hide a " turkey " neck? I live in the Southwest where summer temperatures regularly exceed 100 degrees, so turtlenecks and scarves won't work in the summer months... I can't afford surgery and it is pretty bad, where exercises and creams aren't working...
You could have a lightweight chiffon, see through lace or other sheer material with a high crew neck top and wear a lightweight cami underneath in a corresponding color to the top. That should give you some air flow and keep you cooler. I hope this helps Annette.
Loved this video, I’m guilty wearing a lot of black, and Jazz it up with jewelry, I feel it hides my mid section, or I also have some little black sweater jackets, and wear color tops layered underneath them. I think I’m going shopping today, need to get some color Just subscribed 😁👚👗👠👛
Welcome Christine! I know how you feel. Once I jazzed up my wardrobe with some color I felt more alive and more youthful! All the best with your shopping!
My first time commenting on your Channel. Actually first time seeing your Channel. I really appreciate that there's some place to go to get tips for us more mature women. Are you going to do a tutorial on hair care.
The nice thing about being almost “60” is that some of my favorite fashion items from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s & 80’s have come back in style. I know what cut & styles fit my 5ft 8 ft frame. I tell the young girls at work the worse they can do to hide extra weight is to wear their clothing oversized. Great shapewear is also a must!
She is very beautiful. I agree her hair could probably be a little more updated. We should take up a collection and send her to Chris Hodgkins the makeover guy in Minneapolis. God what he could do to make her look even more incredible. But if she's happy. Let her be happy. That's my operating philosophy these days
Do not cut your hair unless you are really tired if it! I had long hair for decades and had to cut it due to health reasons, no longer able to care for it. My mother just passed at age 95. Some of -er best photos were from her 50th and 60th wedding anniversary parties. She had long long hair and wore it up in a ponytail or bun or half up half down, but for the photos she wore it down and it was gorgeous. Imo it looked so much better and younger than her friends' short old lady styled hair. Also my grandmothers wore their hair short and I thought it aged them as well. I am in the process of growing my hair back long and I am 62.
Good points! A fitting bra is essential! Covering the butt! Knowing your closet! Thanks for the hints! I like animal prints but all over kitty cat is a bit much! Even though I have a Bengal!
Thku for sharing. Eat more avocado and eggs. Maybe a shorter hair cut and I would have worn the bracelet. Im overweight and used to b a model to.i dont Blessings. 🎀
I still think it depends on YOU. The mirror is your friend and will show you the truth on whether the look is flattering. I prefer my dresses just a touch below the knee & I prefer a lower cut top. I think if you have a low neckline and a short skirt it is too much though.
@@lovingourage Boy, I think it is the most lovely necklace I've ever seen and that's saying something, since I am a year or two older than you! Thanks for all your content. I love watching you. And your husband upon occasion.
I would suggest you get a good wig in a toned down color and shorter and see what others say and you can see if you think it's more flattering. I agree with many other commenters that your video blog is all about mature women looking younger, but the first thing that jumps out is that you have long kind of scraggly gray hair that's yellowed at the bottom. I am not judging it I am describing it. You're in your comfort zone from when you were younger. I think the point is to find a new comfort zone as we get older. Sometimes subtle changes are all that's necessary. I think a toned-down hair color will also take the excess redness out of your complexion. This is just my opinion but I have been interested in beauty for my entire life and have learned to adapt my look to my age. Believe me, people might comment at first that your hair is shorter, and as soon as they say that they might say they love it even MORE!!
I agree that I needed a trim and did get a few inches off just days after this video. I am growing out my blonde hair and it is a transition. The good news is that it's coming in a lovely soft silver and I love it!
miss kj 777 Longer tops ok on women with boy figures- wide shoulders and narrow hips. Not at all flattering to women with female figures, small shoulders, narrow waists, rounder wider hips, especially if the woman is short.
I'm with you," I really think you gotta cover your butt"! Thanks for saying it! I subscribed just because you actually said that. Hopefully ladies will listen up!
I want to say I like your hair and I'm around your age let us know about what u find out about the wrinkle products u look great for your age doing something right I have a weight problem as well I'm in size 18 when I should be at least a 15 but I'm trying to work on that I have some health problems that comes with age and a car accidents that did not help I stayed in the hospital a month and put on the pounds as time went on and as I got older thanks for your tips!!!!

Some good ideas but I always look at the person giving advice & her style. I find it difficult to take tips from someone who needs to update her hairstyle!
The best thing about being retired is that I ditched “the corporate look,” and now just have “fun with fashion.” I never really cared about the damned “style,” and now care less. Luckily, I’ve kept up exercise, and only weigh 102, but at any weight, ditch the black, black and more black code, and have fun with color. Take out or buy some interesting costume jewelry, color grey hair (nothing makes you look older!), manicured or not, keep nails trim and short, wear the highest heel you can walk in, and visit the dentist frequently!
Some good points here Sally, thanks for sharing. The only thing I would change is that some women look great with natural silver hair & although I love high heels, balancing on 6" ones are not for me these days even if I could walk in them LOL
You’re great...hair that Frames a face and is elegant like a BOBB makes one look youthful lively and incredibly SOPHISTICATED AND CLASSY... long long hair is for youngish girls ... true?
It's my personal taste and I love my long hair. I am getting it trimmed tomorrow but it is authentically me. I appreciate your input but my long hair stays & I also encourage others to be authentically who they want to be , long hair and all.
Awesome over 50 It’s a suggestion... classy is always “Shoulder length” and a Stylish cut that “Frames” our face. It’s very AUTHENTIC in every way. When a person is over 50 .... There’s a different way of dressing etc than when we’re 20-40.... I understand your liking your long hair. Enjoy it and I loooove HURRICANE the videos are absolutely precious!
Awesome over 50 I hear you on that one but I can see why you wanted to hang on to them. I’ve had to let go of a couple pairs of shoes in the past that I‘ve NEVER been able to find replacements for. Still missing them! I would have kept them until I died if I could have. 🤣🤣🤣
Hey Heather! And Hurricane! I can so relate to all these no no's! Guilty!!! Great video! Thx for sharing! Happy Thanksgiving to you Bill and family! Hugs! Xo
Several people have mentioned your hair. I'm not normally a fan of long hair on the more mature woman, but I think yours is lovely because it is quite thick and has a wave to it, plus, it's your natural colour(am I right?!). It looks bad when older women have long, thin, lank hair. Yes, I'm sure you would look equally lovely with a shorter style, but what you've got is amazing.
Why are women obsessed about the outside looking trying to hide how old they are. My GOD be creative and look the way you feel great. Your eyes will bright and your smile will bring light to this world.
Women need to look in the mirror and see BLACK is NOT their friend! It exaggerates the naso-labial lines, under eye shadows, all wrinkles, and even nostril darkness. Forget about the comfort - zone factor and try some beautiful color.
Dress " down " when shopping discount stores, or just do not go out to discount stores in bling jewelry, expensive purse and shoes: You may be targeted by a pick pocket! Now i keep an old jacket to cover my necklaces, and carry my cash and cards in my zipper pocket.

That summer dress looked so nice on you.
Thanks Norma!
I am so guilty of keeping old, comfy shoes! And wearing them in public hahaha
I guess since they're the last thing to go on we don't think about them. I have dozens of shoes and always seemed to go for the worn out comfy ones LOL
Yeah beloved it's good.
I love old outfit too
I find myself watching fashion videos done by younger women just to see what they enjoy wearing.
Great input here Ginny. I love Pinterest and Instagram for ideas too. Young or older you can get some great ideas!
After certain age long hair makes you look as if you were a witch. When your hair is really fine texture.
Not true: It always depends on the woman!
Great channel . Great energy and great content. New friend here.
Welcome Dianna! Thanks so much for your lovely comment, just made my day!!
Lol I'm guilty of shoes that fell apart after 20 years (Ralph Lauren loafers that I paid $80 I think I got my investment out of it? Lol. Love your videos, thanks ever so much!
Thanks for sharing, I'm glad I'm not the only one that has done that! LOL
I hope to one day be as free in my style as you are, thanks for the tips and you look so good! It makes me so happy to see people being themselves :)
Thanks so much for your kind words and you've got this!!
Lots of great tips! 100% agree about the shoes, and thank goodness they now have stylish athletic shoes that don't make you feel "old!" P.S. I love your long hair! It looks so good on you. Not everyone can wear long hair, but you definitely can. I think it makes you look younger!! ♥
Thanks so much for your input and your positive words about my hair. I love it and it's authentically ME.
Thanks for sharing. Sometimes just adding a colorful top to a pair of black pants still is updating your wardrobe. Blessings to you too!
@@lovingourage .... So true, and you're welcome!!! And a lovely scarf or jewelry, ties it together . You are an inspiration to many , and of course ... The" Cuteness Factor" is always a bonus. 🙂😊🐶
long grey hair ?
I would love to see your hair straightened. It's so gorgeous!
Just got a hair trim so my next video should have it straightened.
You are so much fun and make fashion enjoyable!
Thanks so much, you just made my day!
LOVE the necklace ! ...and enjoy your channel :)
Thanks so much Paula!
Google the tops. I have shopped thrift for years but, due to,Pandemic, no second hand right now or going out into shops period.
She should go to The Makeover Guy for a haircut, color and makeup.
That was my first thought too! I need him myself, want to go?
agree
Lynn Olson seeing a stylist would benefit her too.
Instead of throwing out your favorite shoes, just take them to your local cobbled. They also fix leather!
I can’t wear heals because I have MS and orthodics so I bought leather fashion sneakers for summer and boots in the winter with a low heal.
Thanks so much for sharing. I do take some of my shoes to the cobblers too! Some are just too far gone though to warrant a fix up.
Guilty of wearing too much black myself and I have been working hard to add color into my closet.
Loved this video, I’m guilty wearing a lot of black, and Jazz it up with jewelry, I feel it hides my mid section, or I also have some little black sweater jackets, and wear color tops layered underneath them. I think I’m going shopping today, need to get some color
Just subscribed 😁👚👗👠👛
Welcome Christine! I know how you feel. Once I jazzed up my wardrobe with some color I felt more alive and more youthful! All the best with your shopping!
My first time commenting on your Channel. Actually first time seeing your Channel. I really appreciate that there's some place to go to get tips for us more mature women. Are you going to do a tutorial on hair care.
I will be doing a tutorial on hair care including straightening and curling within the next 4 weeks Shirley.
Everything old is new again for sure! Especially our old music (with all the remakes LOL) The shapewear is a good point! Thanks for sharing Shirlyn.
I like your hair
Love this video Heather!!! I'm an online Amazon addict too. LOL! HI Hurricane!
Thanks for sharing, will give little Hurricane a cuddle for you!
That's nice about the shoes. But most are out of my budget! I usually have to save up for them!
Thanks for your input Maureen. Happy Easter weekend!
A beautiful lady in need of a nice hair cut!😊
The first thing I thought.
Was already planned, but I got a trim yesterday LOL
😘
Angela Puga I thought exactly the same.... a stylish classy cut would make her ROCK!
I like her hair. Just a trim to create more volume will do.
Thanks so much for sharing your story. I know the style of your hair is a personal one but I think I'll have my long hair for a few more decades
Yes! Another great video from you! 🤩 Just what I needed in the grey November...👌
Thanks for taking the time to let me know you enjoyed it & so glad I brightened your grey day!
Another great fashion video Heather!! Love your take on our animal prints! I've got an animal print top on the way. Just have to jump in!! 🌹
Why not walk on the wild side a bit Joan LOL!! Enjoy your new animal print top!
Paula’s Choice is fragrance free and irritant free! I’ve used her exfoliants, alcohol free toners, moisturisers and treatments Boosters for decades!
I've heard of them and should try them out. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for the fashion tips for us women over 50!
You are welcome Suzanne!
Good points! A fitting bra is essential! Covering the butt! Knowing your closet! Thanks for the hints! I like animal prints but all over kitty cat is a bit much! Even though I have a Bengal!
Pointed toe shoes might look okay, just beware of forcing your feet into their shape. 🤕 ouch.
Good point. I would never wear them daily.
Back problems and big feet so I stay far away from those type of shoes.
Thku for sharing. Eat more avocado and eggs. Maybe a shorter hair cut and I would have worn the bracelet. Im overweight and used to b a model to.i dont Blessings. 🎀
Black IS slimming but it also drains colour from your skin.
So true
Yes, true for most skin tones. It is ok for “winters” but not all the time. It is bland and boring. All black all the time shows no imagination.
I just subscribed to your channel... lots of great information in this video. Thank you ♥️
Glad you enjoyed the video and Welcome!!
How short do you think we should wear skirts/dresses???? Xx
I still think it depends on YOU. The mirror is your friend and will show you the truth on whether the look is flattering. I prefer my dresses just a touch below the knee & I prefer a lower cut top. I think if you have a low neckline and a short skirt it is too much though.
DAT UK if you have good legs you can wear shorter skirts/ dresses. Just cover your top little more. Don't wear anything too revealing .
Say no to spandex if fat chunks, or wear longer shirt, gaudy jewels tone that down
Yes ma’am fun with fashion
Hello from Dallas. Always feels like you’re talk straight to me! Thanks
That makes me so happy Debby! That's my goal, we're all in this aging & gaining confidence thing together!
WHERE DID YOU GET YOUR LOVELY NECKLACE???? I LOVE IT!
It was from a small boutique but they don't stock it anymore, so sorry about that.
Take them to a shoe fixer that's what I did and they look brand new now
I agree... the longer tunic is awesome and classic! Love your jewelry 🤗
Thanks!
Ken is right. Long tunics are very UNattractive on shorter women who have curves. Bad advice.
miss kj 777 Longer tops ok on women with boy figures- wide shoulders and narrow hips. Not at all flattering to women with female figures, small shoulders, narrow waists, rounder wider hips, especially if the woman is short.
I'm with you," I really think you gotta cover your butt"! Thanks for saying it! I subscribed just because you actually said that. Hopefully ladies will listen up!
Welcome and thanks for sharing. I think it's a really important point!!
I have always heard it best if it covers half your buns because if all is covered it makes it look bigger so half way is best
You looked nice outside with your clothing
I want to say I like your hair and I'm around your age let us know about what u find out about the wrinkle products u look great for your age doing something right I have a weight problem as well I'm in size 18 when I should be at least a 15 but I'm trying to work on that I have some health problems that comes with age and a car accidents that did not help I stayed in the hospital a month and put on the pounds as time went on and as I got older thanks for your tips!!!!
Thanks so much for sharing your story Peggy. I hope that 2020 brings a better time for you. All the best in 2020.
By the way, I did a video on some of those wrinkle products and here it is ruclips.net/video/Ov-FKSPUUYc/видео.html
Love my “silver”
visit dentist - as my young hubby said- ok to much older wife like me but must have natural teetg -LOL
No to high (torturous) heels
I agree I too have too many black dresses
Many of us do. Thanks for sharing Mona.
Interesting. A haircut would help your overall look. Thanks for your enthusiasm.
Yes. Women older with Long hair look even older.
love this, you are so pretty How much younger you would look with a shorter hair cut. I would love to see you at the makeover man
You’re great...hair that Frames a face and is elegant like a BOBB makes one look youthful lively and incredibly SOPHISTICATED AND CLASSY... long long hair is for youngish girls ... true?
It's my personal taste and I love my long hair. I am getting it trimmed tomorrow but it is authentically me. I appreciate your input but my long hair stays & I also encourage others to be authentically who they want to be , long hair and all.
Stephanie, I agree. Cutting inches off adds years to the face.
Awesome over 50 It’s a suggestion... classy is always “Shoulder length” and a Stylish cut that “Frames” our face. It’s very AUTHENTIC in every way.
When a person is over 50 ....
There’s a different way of dressing etc than when we’re
20-40.... I understand your liking your long hair. Enjoy it and I loooove HURRICANE the
videos are absolutely precious!
I'm 65 and my hair is down to my waist because I like it. I don't think people have to follow rules if they don't want to.
I would have worn the earings and bracelet. Pretty jewelty 🎀
Great video Heather. :) Mary Lou
Thanks Mary Lou!
Shoe repair man! Those are lovely shoes
They've met with the shoe repair man many times. Their time has come for the trash, unfortunately,.
Awesome over 50 I hear you on that one but I can see why you wanted to hang on to them. I’ve had to let go of a couple pairs of shoes in the past that I‘ve NEVER been able to find replacements for. Still missing them! I would have kept them until I died if I could have. 🤣🤣🤣
There should be more discussion on finding the correct bras and under things.
Scarlet is like to know the brand of the bra she talked about.
Hi Scarlet, I did a video on undergarments, I hope it helps, here it is... ruclips.net/video/KnstLBJ7CyQ/видео.html
I got the bra from Victoria Secret and here is a video on undergarments that I did if you want to watch it ruclips.net/video/KnstLBJ7CyQ/видео.html
Inspiring video
So glad you liked it Angela.
Cut your hair Not short but updated
Invest in good fitting bras n shoes that will be the mainstay for the rest of your wardrobe.
So true!
Hey Heather! And Hurricane! I can so relate to all these no no's! Guilty!!! Great video! Thx for sharing! Happy Thanksgiving to you Bill and family! Hugs! Xo
All the best to you too Sue! Have a great weekend!
I appreciate your comment. My hair is naturally silver and 'm authentically me with it long. It was in need of a trim, however, in this video
Why are women obsessed about the outside looking trying to hide how old they are. My GOD be creative and look the way you feel great. Your eyes will bright and your smile will bring light to this world.
Need od hair cut pls
Women need to look in the mirror and see BLACK is NOT their friend! It exaggerates the naso-labial lines, under eye shadows, all wrinkles, and even nostril darkness. Forget about the comfort - zone factor and try some beautiful color.
You make a lot of good points, thanks for sharing Deborah
Great Tips thankyou I too have been stuck in a rut time to move on look forward to new me
I agree Mary, it's time for all of us to re-energize this chapter of our lives!
Taking your fav shoes to a cobbler is an idea.
Dress " down " when shopping discount stores, or just do not go out to discount stores in bling jewelry, expensive purse and shoes: You may be targeted by a pick pocket! Now i keep an old jacket to cover my necklaces, and carry my cash and cards in my zipper pocket.
Good points, thanks for sharing!
