I dont think Elon would have ever thought the plaid would be a camera car but its absolutely perfect for the job. Silent, Fast, and smooth. And it's probably cheaper than the standard Porsche that you see everywhere to boot.
I've been thinking of the intro at 0:30 for four days now, it's a smooth transition crosses all information needed without being boring and still cinematic. The rest of the video was good but the intro was abosultey amazing. Great work!

I was shaking my head when you pinned the Tesla in the busy mall parking lot which clearly was intercepting the other vehicle, but overall a slick video and editing. 🎆 I appreciate your mindful mention about the risks associated with the Model Plaid and any form of street racing. It’s critical to remind everyone (younger generation especially) of the huge risks associated with high horsepower, public streets and roadways. 🤙🏼
Something I found interesting is how the extreme speeds and acceleration do not necessarily look materially faster than the speeds that a Hollywood production would typically film a car chase. Once something is moving even 30-40 mph past a lens (instead of the lens traveling with it) our brain says "fast".

Awesome results with latest consumer tech. 50 mm shots are outstanding. Thought about selling all my BM4K RIG and Canon EF Lens stuff for DJI… But I will wait just till next year Q1. At the moment I’m locked in my apartment because of C. Quarantine, that sucks but I can be creative in my studio. Best from Germany !
Ive been using a rebuilt/stripped down Inspire 2 body the same way for years now and I never had that horizon-problem i see in these videos :/ still excited to get my 4d tho. There should be a workaround for it
I kind of dig the free pro-mist look. It’s actually pretty subtle, a little under an eighth. I don’t want to sandblast my lenses though. 😂 Nice stuff as always, Josh!

Absolutely love this content! On the sound design side of the Supra audio, the unedited sounded “real” as what an enthusiast (me) would expect to hear, especially the shrill notes. Not sure how you’d blend the two further but would love to see your development process in preserving the raw sound with your extensive experience in sound design. Glad to hear you’re taking it to the track next… be sure to leave plenty of room for braking! Team up and collaborate with the Triple F Collection channel, they have a Plaid and plenty of cars to film that deserve your skills 🙌
Super awesome to see that BUT why was the fourth axis (z-axis) locked or did I see wrong? How does the 4d perform compared to a dji rs2 with a cam on it?
The 4th axis only helps for walking. Doesn't do anything while mounted on a car, the liDAR sensing units in the bottom wouldn't register the distance to the ground in time at such high speeds. Plus the footage is the smoothest I've ever shot so far on a car mounted gimbal. A lot of it has to do with the size of the lens and camera and the minimal amount of wind drag that is created with the DL lenses. The other factors are the cars suspension and the Tilta hydra Alien being perfectly balanced. This combination has yielded unbelievably smooth results, best I've seen outside of a 6 axis gimbal like the Shot Over or the Cine flex systems. Which are easily $500K systems.
Love it, That looked like so much fun! You really capture the fun of filmmaking like nobody else… I want to drive that car and shoot with that camera too… the day your first video on it came out I went to sleep that night dreaming chase scenes.

Amazing combination. Plaid + Ronin 4D seems like a relatively budget supercar filming platform. (Look up what a those Porsche Cayenne Camera Crane cost)
i am tesla swapping my 1990 jeep YJ aiming for 1100hp with upgraded inverters i plan to use it as a camera car that can go anywhere it needs to go i am also in BC Canada always good to see a local face.
I want to like the 4d more. It’s amazing on paper, but the sensor doesn’t give me that Magic*. It feels very digital, and not a fan of the color science. I love the innovation. It’s similar to the arri Alexa m
Yeha I cna see that. BUt keep in mind, this is still a very new product and if DJI keeps updating it like they have been, then this thing should find a solid niche market for professionals. This scenario is clutch because unless you go heavier with R2 you simply cannot get these shots with the RS2, lord knows i tired on Anamorphia 2-- def had to stabilize in post.
@@MAKEARTNOWCHANNEL absolutely, we have a movi, fantastic that we can use what camera and lens combos we want, but certainly needs a two man crew and ideally 3 man to get those shots the 4d has. Frankly if they had a super35 version I may consider it more. Not a huge full frame guy. Thanks for the feedback

It also has a ton and a half of battery weight down low to prevent a heavy camera crane rig from tipping the vehicle.

we took out the plaid to the track in SD for the exact same reason we felt really dangerous ripping it down the coast.
