Wanted to add a few things.... I'm back now and got about 5 videos i'm wrapping up, so you''ll be hearing from me again this week! Miss you guys!!! We've finally fully settled in the new home and the Studio is done and i'm about ready to unleash the Studio video as well as some new stuff on Orbit.... More on R4D-- A lot of these shots you can do on the RS3 with the wireless transmitter, and while I was not sponsored by DJI to make this video, Ive been excited about this product since last year when i first heard about the possibility.......a few shots reminded me of the work that I did with the Pocket Osmo 4 years ago at another mansion....This kit is like a full frame 6k pocket Osmo with 9 stop internal ND and insane wireless. And the true value of this camera is that expression, "it's greater than the sum of its parts". You really only appreciate it when you spend zero time connecting and rigging things, and everything connects and works as it should..... Also it's nice to see the folks at DJI developing more accessories and ecosystem for the R4D and not just moving along to the next product. What I didn't say in this video because I forgot was that this cable may not be the thing that pushes anyone over the edge to get the Ronin4D, but for those who already own the Ronin4D, this is going to be a lot of fun and bring some value. I'm going to be in Los Angeles a bunch this summer filming expensive homes with the Ronin4D.... so much so that I've decided to rent out my R4D kit while I'm away. If you want to try it out, it's on sharegrid for the summer, Connor is handling the rental side.... You can channel your inner MAKEARTNOW and bring a piece of me on your next shoot! makeartnow.com/mygear
Josh; your sweet face reading off your phone for one frame between 3:04 and 3:05 was more endearing and lovely to witness than I had imagined. Just a skip between b-roll footage and it was an example of humanity; loved it. Even if you reading this consider it a mistake.
This is so cool! My biggest complaint though is that the rolling shutter of the Ronin 4D becomes a lot more visible when you were wearing it on your head. Strange that such a high end camera meant for fast action shots has such a high rolling shutter. Other than that, these are great new tools!
Yes I think the Hermit cam is not a good fit for the R4D.... glad I can scratch that one off the list... Its possible that the gimbal while even in locked position has too much wiggle room and is prone to vibrations as seen in the video, much more than a regular camera that's strapped down. But hey, thats what I do...I test these things :)
I'm suprised how quick DJI brought more features for the Ronin 4D. Sure ppl can say it's a copy cat version of the Rialto, BUT for a small price, it's a massive game changer especially now you can rock Cine zoom lenses like the Angenieux and Cooke S4i primes. Keep filming champ!! 🫡
Great video! I'm looking forward for the competition because Ronin 4D should be considered 1st gen product in its own category. Once we get to 3rd gen, I'm expecting to see sideways compensation, too, and then you'll see very nice stabilization even while running straight forward.
Glad DJI is out there with some true innovation, trying new stuff and ideas. Other camera manufacturers seem content with copying each other and just doing spec sheets competitions.
100 ft cable and this is a full frame PTZ camera that can compete with the FR7 but has many other uses outside of PTZ that the FR7 can never do. And at a similar price point, mind you.
Hey, glad to se a video from you. One question, I saw you in a lot of other Photo/Video RUclipsrs videos about the trip to Japan and the Panasonis S5m2, in their videos if I'm not mistaken you were shooting anamorphic, I hope you still plan to release the video as I value your opinion. Thanks, have a great day!
That lens behaves quite like sony's 16-35 or 28-135, no crash zooming (mechanically not possible by design), and close focus on auto is closer than on manual (noticable at 100mm and up)
Pretty wild. So much better than a Flycam type set up. For live events and that back pack you'd barely be noticed. The car use options are great. So much tech in this overall very reasonably priced set up. And that zoom... S35 to 42mm... sweet!! If I wasn't so invested in Canon I'd think about this with some Lumix lenses and that zoom as my main and just a couple Lumix S5II as back up cams? A set up like this just leaves more time to be real creative. Was your car scene sync a tad off? The audio options for this camera are on the suck side. And the exposure was a bit rough??
pretty sure zoom speed is as fast as they can make the tiny servo run. To run faster, the motor needs to do more work (i.e. the same work in less time), and the faster a servo spins, the less torque it has (because reluctance/inductance/back EMF). It would be possible to over-juice the motor and run it hot, which wouldn't be great for its longevity without active cooling. Short of that, the only way to fix it is to use a larger motor.
hey! Your videos on the ronin 4D have been invaluable. I’m considering the ronin 4D as my primary camera for my creative agency. I shoot a lot of different content. Would you recommend the ronin 4D as a primary camera instead of getting an alternative with all the accessories to achieve the same result?
I have a question about focus breathing is it with auto focus on? Or can you still get that when you’re manually focusing might be a stupid question that I’m not a professional videographer
You are so helpful my friend….I would pay you $100 if you could do a 3hour Ronin 4D tutorial from start to finish and will your color grading….you sir are my favorite film RUclipsr
I made it. I bought conduit from Home Depot. I forget the size, but it's pretty close to same size as the c-stand arm. Then I screwed a 3/8-16 thread to the end to make it screw into camera mounts. Total cost was like $12!
Glad to see the video. I hope the Ohio move is a renaissance for you. So, is OH the new CA? Is everyone moving there? Keep up the good work. Love your videos!
Can I use this ronin 4D to use as a TV studio camera to transmit live and direct or to transmit live and direct as an outdoor cameraman for TV programs?
that's fine for adding but it comes with an extra cost that's not an update btw blackMagic make a new free update that covers the vertical and horizontal footage for free and that's an update
such a shame the camera has such terrible rolling shutter. its an excellent tool for certain impossible shots and this extension allowing it to be a tiny remote head is rad.
Can the GPS on these cameras do any kind of RTK GPS functionality? I'd imagine having precision scene-referenced kinematic data for the camera would be very convenient for some kinds of tracking shots -- or for that matter, for visual effects work later.
This thing is supposed to be full frame but the video quality seems really soft and it has tons of rolling shutter. Kind of kills the whole thing for any professional applications. Just seems like a fun toy for filmmakers.
True! or a Pocket Osmo like i did a few years ago at another mansion listing. Though it is nice to see DJI further developing this tech and giving current owners more options.
There's a few videos floating around of people doing that and the connection on the bottom of the RS2/3 snapping off and everything going bye-bye from a height. The screws on the bottom are not strong enough for it. I've put my RS2 on the end of a tripod for a high shots but there's no way in hell I'd ever trust it moving around at 45-90 degrees with any sort of decent camera or weight on it
@@Flamamacue They probably were not using the DJI base plate attachment plate for car shoots. That has a 3/8 thread cheese plate and bypasses the battery, bringing the mounting port closer to gimbal. If they use the bottom battery mount 1/4-20 they will for sure snap it off, too much weight.
@@MAKEARTNOWCHANNEL Ohhh I see. I've never dealt with this, I assumed they meant v-mount plate or similar. Still nowhere near as convenient as the new 4D offering. reminds me of the custom Sony cameras they used in Top Gun
The firmware for the flex breaks manual focusing lens autofocus for me. (When it detects a face it backfocuses) Anyone else have the same issue? Dji have been no help
lol. No. Unfortunately for me DJI isn't offering affiliate links for this one. Only drones...... go figure. I have links for B&H though for some of the other products.
Great video and my thoughts about this extended Flex Kit. It doesn't make any sense. It is another DJI marketing ploy to charge people an extra $2,000 for the Ronin 4D. Normally, you can do all this with a normal gimbal.
Sony staying quiet lol but getting ready to pounce as per usual 😂❤…They should of made the 4D underswing in the first place like other cheaper gimbals can! Cheers anyways it’s still a great overall solution 👍❤

Great job putting this together bro! Loved the camaraderie with all the creators and other people. So fun
Glad to see you back. Too bad you’re not in California anymore I miss your contact. I really want to make a video.

AND WE’RE BACK. I’m not buying one anytime soon, but super excited for the new tech and what you’re going to make with it!

Saw 4D videos going up on my feed but decided to hold of betting you would have one soon, glad I did.
Josh, what happened to your take on the Panasonic S5ii ? Gerald said you did one...am I missing something?
Super excited to see your face man! Glad to hear you’re settling in. We’ll be here eager for the next one as always 👌🏾

how is your studio coming along? how is your life in your new place?
Josh and Jesse is the collab I never knew I NEEDED so much!!
Great video as always!! Thank you!
Did you encounter the issue that the atofocus isnt working when you combined to of the flex cables?
That lens behaves quite like sony's 16-35 or 28-135, no crash zooming (mechanically not possible by design), and close focus on auto is closer than on manual (noticable at 100mm and up)
That close focus is 🔥. I dont think ive ever been excited for 7.4 inches 🤣

I love how DJI incorporates Sony Venice's design of removable sensor body.

Value proposition for Pro Res Raw benefits those doing HDR workflows.
Awesome… great seeing you again buddy. Looking forward to a little whiskey in Vegas 🥃😉
Oh , that new studio will look even crazier then the previous one which I loved already so much 😃
Can’t wait to see that studio tour 🙈

legend is back! Ps I need to get the Ronin 4d now...Ive wanted it for a while but now i can tell they arent just giving up on it. this is exciting!
best video yet that explains so clearly the system and its possibilities. One thing i cant find is ordering info for the backpack ?
With the detached head setup, could that be a solution for a hood car Mount shot vs using the whole 4d?
I like the idea of ProRes RAW licensing. I hope we can see ProRes RAW in way more products soon!
Welcome back to our life
You have been missed sooooo much
I was wondering if you were gonna make a video! Good to see it! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
So few people can justify that camera, and now it is even more expensive! But you have been missed! So creative!
Can you have a lens at 105 mm? Or is it only wide angle?
Been waiting for your video to drop! One of the best guys on this camera
I have a question about focus breathing is it with auto focus on? Or can you still get that when you’re manually focusing might be a stupid question that I’m not a professional videographer
Still not somethin I would need but it's really cool to have. I hope they keep on developing the system.

Long metal poles around power lines, a really bad idea, but looks cool. Thanks.
sick video yeo - but i have a question - what car set you go in there? looks cool i want one - add it to your amazon list lol
Miss you man! Welcome back.
So glad you got your hands on this!!!
Amazing video!!
Question: Where did you get the super long C-stand arm, seen at 09:05s?
I made it. I bought conduit from Home Depot. I forget the size, but it's pretty close to same size as the c-stand arm. Then I screwed a 3/8-16 thread to the end to make it screw into camera mounts. Total cost was like $12!

Bad rolling shutter is the only thing that's keeping me from getting R4D. It's especially odd for a camera that's supposed to be great in movement.

Can I use this ronin 4D to use as a TV studio camera to transmit live and direct or to transmit live and direct as an outdoor cameraman for TV programs?
Glad your back!!!
Have you put the (relatively) new Samyang VAF Cine AF Primes for Sony e on the Ronin 4d? id love to see a video about those
Great to see some content from you
that's fine for adding but it comes with an extra cost that's not an update btw blackMagic make a new free update that covers the vertical and horizontal footage for free and that's an update
So does the Monitor Steer the Camera bye swaying it around?
Getting Jesse involved certainly makes up for your absence. What a surprise combo of two gems. YT Dads Unite! 😅
Fun fact: We worked together on some videos back in November but neither of us published anything yet. Oops!
such a shame the camera has such terrible rolling shutter. its an excellent tool for certain impossible shots and this extension allowing it to be a tiny remote head is rad.
I have a feeling that DJI will make a new inspire drone or some sorts. it’s kinda like putting propellers on a Ronin 4D

I approve of your EMT + medium roller boom sir.
One more question what’s that head rig ?????
Here’s a nice challenge for you: could you make the 4D Flex work on your Orbit?
LEGEND! Welcome back dude!
You could get similar shots with an RS3 on a boom pole with a power plate.
True! or a Pocket Osmo like i did a few years ago at another mansion listing. Though it is nice to see DJI further developing this tech and giving current owners more options.

Man I missed you! Your videos are always so inspiring!
17:42 - I am almost certain the guys as DJI had to try this too!
YO HE RETURNS!!!!! Welcome back man
No we thought you were dead! JK... welcome home! Also... that thumbnail is 🔥!
Any news on the lidar module for use off the gimbal?
I came to your channel like 5 times yesterday
waiting to see how you use it

That GPS module is so underrated.
Missed you Josh. Hope everything is fine.

make youtube videos again, man. missed this👊
That's some insane gear bro. just one question, 09:05 what is the name of that tool dude ? i NEED that
MATTHEWS ROLLER STAND. I used a 12ft section of 3/4 in metal conduit ($10 at home depot) and it fit perfectly into the clamp.
I wonder how it works when using it on external parts of the computer
Just clicked on the video. What kind of ridiculous stuff are you up to now 😂
Did you can the S5 mkii review?
Imagine someone doing crazy one shots with it
Are we going to see some dolly-zooms?
Yay...dolly-zooms at 6:08.. I need to get a life lol
Cool! Thanks for sharing it ✌️

Great channel, it’s always interesting 😉
Can you buy the raw license so we can see what the Pro Res Raw looks like?
I did. And I tested it. And the files are ready for you to download and test for yourself, link in the description.
Did you watch the video, bruh??
