Josh! Do you think there will be any possibility that they can develop a LiDAR that makes the autofocus work for long range..? I know they use LiDAR on drones as well and... well the distances are huge.
Finally someone who actually talks about usage, options for lenses and shows usability of this setup. While ago when DJI sent these to cameratubers it was mostly hype. Peoole such as Potato, corridor and MacKinnon. They just praised and hyped how awesome this is. This video was what people wanted.
In their defense, this camera is a LOT to unpack. It's a camera + gimbal + monitor + wireless transmitter. It took me 6 months to get this video made because it is very dense. Too much to cover in detail in one video, ya know? Plus when those guys got it, they probably had a bunch of issues with the camera as all the units have had significant updates for all the little bugs.
DJI just again made this video industry much more exciting. Imagine the technology anybody hasn't really thought of and executed, DJI keeps rolling the ball and produce engaging technologies time to time. What an immense effort coming the DJI team and their respective testers/clients. DJI fanboy since Phantom 2 days and man, they never disappointed me.
The amount of production you put in this video is insane. I’m sure not a lot people realize it!! This is one of the far the best youtube channel that I ever subscribed! Amazing Job!!!!!
BRAW on this camera would be amazing. Honestly, BMD could make a ton of money if they licensed it out. It's just such a GREAT codec to work with in editing software.
@@kamenwaticlients It feels like it's becoming available over external recording more and more but yeah, maybe it's something they're looking into doing.
@@FrameVoyager maybe the situation with ProRes Raw which already leads camera manufacturers to develop B-Raw and N-Raw will also leads DJI to develop their own raw codec if DJI can't use B-Raw or N-Raw.
JOSH So good to see you back, great footage, informative and comical all at the same time. Nice review, I'm sure they did choose you to try and break it.
The 4d looks amazing. I think the biggest hurdle DJI will have is convincing people that this is a better option over "traditional" cinema cameras. In my experience, a lot of DPs/directors will frequently plan around a traditional cinema camera which corners a lot of productions into using traditional equipment. I think educating the right people on how this camera can simplify production, or allow for shots that aren't immediately obvious. As someone that uses cinema cameras, I even question myself on what I would purchase next if I had about $10,000 to invest in another cinema camera. Do I go with something like this to get unique takes and simplifies some production? Or do I go with an c300 or fx6/9 to match other camera's in our arsenal. I think it's easy to choose something familiar, but this device looks just rewarding enough that people like me might be convinced to take that risk.
I think this is more for the crash cam, B cam that matches the A cam. BUT..... when the other shoe drops later this year, that may change. Big things coming.
for me I think the biggest let down is the lack of raw - the fact that for a fraction of that you have blackmagics doing RAW - but that being said, this has some features that blow that out the water (built in gimbal and wireless system)
I think DJI is going for the much wider content creator play here over trying to restock production houses that are already filled up with Alexas etc. I think there are a ton of people making content on a budget that looks and feels every bit as good as what you're seeing on streaming services and in theaters, and that's who DJI is really going after. But then again, we've also seen a lot of productions adopt things like the Inspire 2 in just a few short years of existence, so I could definitely see huge budget productions pulling these out for certain scenes.
Love love love your videos. I made a prediction to my video buddies about 4 years ago that DJI would soon release a lens line (and they would become a 1 stop shop for film gear), I couldn't have predicted that they would go this far. The 4D is definitely the most interesting camera system of 2022. Wonderfull video btw.
I was lucky to use this camera quite a bit, and I was really impressed with the image, I would dare to say skin colors are the closest thing to arri alexa, while low light is - in my opinion - better than the A7siii. Because there’s no noise reduction, and that the noise look more organic, so more bearable. Now it’s their first cinema camera, it’s not quite perfect, but the sensor and the lidr is really promising for the future !

I want that Lidarsensor, Monitor, Wireless Module and the FIZ unit as an extra package to work via SDI on other cameras. That System would be focus puller heaven. The image quality on the 4D is wonderful. The only thing i notice is a lot of horizon drift on walking and car shots.
Yes indeed. Without the GPS module the camera does not know how fast it's going and cannot account for the drift. It's possible DJI could fix that with an additional hardware for car mounts. Most likely they won't address it for drone shots because if the camera in mounts and connects to the drone, it will use the drones GPS.
@@MAKEARTNOWCHANNEL i understand and you also mentioned it in the video. but the problem is also there when walking. this is also noticeable on the other dji gimbals, mostly the smaller ones. maybe the 4d already has a gps module but just not activated. and for drone use... there will be soon a new inspire that uses those 4D sensor modules :P

Awesome review like always. I was wondering based on your experience with the dji wireless mics would you recommend them over the other available wireless mic systems?
I loved this, like all your vids, keep up the great work bro. (Also, I saw that little moment at 7:17 with the screwdriver going the wrong direction lol)
why always this reviews had to be so fking good!! haha the editing, the dialog! everything it's amazing, the camera it's so out of my level but watching this makes me want to buy it so much!
Honestly the only thing that impresses me is the wireless monitor and built in receiver and the remote controller. That’s honestly a game changer . I really hope they make a firmware update and or implement it to current or future Dji gimbals. Where it’s a “ attachment” I honestly would spend the 3-5 k for that wireless system
I was still Crying (almost literally) about the GH6 having no Phase Detect AF and Panasonic in my Opinion killing themselves (their MFT Lineup) . And then you drop THIS? Thanks i guess xD

The more I see 'bout this camera the more I am impressed. As soon as I win a lottery I will get one for myself to do some epic stuff and to help my friends.
Dji ronin 4d just got a big firmware update on 1/13/2022. this camera is pure magic. If you get the chance to to try this thing out you will feel like a kid again.
Yeah I'm curious how they handle this. Have they abandoned some of the bigger items like the R2 or the Inspire 2 line? I know the recently discontinued I2, but is that the same as abandoned? Or are they prepping i3?
@@MAKEARTNOWCHANNEL Thanks Josh, yes, today we was talking about that in the studio and if this tool could remplace for us the Ronin RS2 + the Canon R5 (with all the overheating problems). So i will SUPER apreciate if you can give me some light in a questions we haved today with mine team. We use the R5 in 4k 120fps in 90% of the time, the Ronin 4D can record 4k 120fps full frame with wide angle lenses? Do you recommend any UWA with AF? this will be great becuse change lenses in a wedding is impossible with the vintage leses for us. We use the Canon 16-35mm just in case we need some extra zoom. Do you try any zoom lens? I saw the Sony 16-55mm. The other question is the time of turn on. In the ceremoy i will prefered use a UWA in the enter of the bride and then change for a 50mm or 85mm, do you think this will take too much time? Now i do the preorder of the R5C, but considering the time of delivery i think this will be more or less around october and im thinking in cancel this preorder. Thanks in advance Josh, i love your channel. Regards from caribbean!
4k 120 gets a 2.39:1 crop--- so if you letter box your weddings then you wont notice-- if you don't then it will be a crop for you Im afraid. Basically the top and bottom get cropped a bit, not the sides. I don't think zoom lenses will work on this unit, yet. word on the street is DJI may be working on some DL mount zoom lenses--- but I have not gotten any first hand knowledge.

Where can i see all the final Videos from the Intro ? Supra/Porsche/etc..? 😀 looks unbeliveable 🥰
This video was both highly informative and awe inspiring. A seriously amazing production. Thank you as I am now hyped to press in and level up.
Wow. Cooler than the new gh6 videos
Great and detailed review. Your excitement is palatable.
Aaaand now we have the RS3 Pro lol. It was only a matter of time.
Josh, you glossed over the best part! How did you get in touch with Wally? That had to be great! Is Nolan next???
Great work as always!
That's a video itself.
@@MAKEARTNOWCHANNEL Hope you share the story someday!
@@MAKEARTNOWCHANNEL What was he shooting with the 4D? Do you have a link to this video?
I was still Crying (almost literally) about the GH6 having no Phase Detect AF and Panasonic in my Opinion killing themselves (their MFT Lineup)
. And then you drop THIS? Thanks i guess xD
I will never get over the VOODOO of that depth map from the LIDAR sensor. It's a TOP DOWN view of something that it is FACING. WHAT.
The inspire 3 is coming and I am very exsited to fly this camera system!
Great Ending! DJI looks to be releasing more powerful gimbals to update onto the Ronin 4D in the future 🙌🏼🔥
Ehhhhh..... more like Inspire 3.
@@MAKEARTNOWCHANNEL oh yes! And becoming modular as well
it feels like i was watching film on filmmaking the effort every time you put in is incredible. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh freak dude ! i have no words to explain awesome
I appreciate all the extra work you put in this video.
One of, if not THE best, reviews of the Ronin 4D !!
Your review is AMAZING, thank you so much for this (the 9mm shots are insane hahahaha)
Unliking to re like! I'm on like 10 now. Glad to see josh back.
honestly this was the best and most infomative review i have ever seen. thank you, for the effort and all the information.
Really really useful review - puts the 4D in context and you can't beat real life scenarios.
Love your channel. Just wondering, did someone different than usual edit this video?
Bro this and your movies are insane!!
The more I see 'bout this camera the more I am impressed.
As soon as I win a lottery I will get one for myself to do some epic stuff and to help my friends.
Are you shooing The One in 24fps? Awesome video as always, thanks
You love those super zoom parallax shots dude. I do as well & i appreciate your obsession
Dji ronin 4d just got a big firmware update on 1/13/2022. this camera is pure magic. If you get the chance to to try this thing out you will feel like a kid again.
Always perfect, start to finish.
Well done, brother! On a side note, the denim shirt and hair makes me wonder if you should have played Nathan Drake in Uncharted 😅👌
That would have been dope! I can still do Army of Dead. ;)
@@MAKEARTNOWCHANNEL Send the studio a message by wearing a leather holster vest in the next video 😉
You put so much time into your videos. Just Wow. I hope you will not burn out soon
you're bloody amazing man! such great footage!
Great review Josh! The only thing consern me it’s how fast DJI abandon the projects.
Now all we need is Lidar for the RSC2 and not just the RS2. Super disappointing that you can’t use the 3D focus module on the smaller gimbal.
