IMPORTANT INFO regarding the train: in this video, I state that you can get any train from platform 2 if your destination is Copenhagen Central Station. That is no longer the case - there are now a couple of trains every hour that do NOT stop at the Central Station. Most trains do, but make sure you check the screens before boarding the train 🤝
We visited Copenhagen for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and the journey to City Centre was seamless. From the airport to Norreport on the M1, and walked 2.5 blocks to our hotel. If only every city in the world was so easy to enjoy!
The Central Station has a lot of charm. Cleaner and safer than in some Belgian Railways Stations. At the end I used my CPH card during my first visit in July 2023. And the metro has easier, arrived nearly closed to the hotel 🙂

Hi there Chris(or do you write it Kris) You`ve covered what as a traveler I`d appreciate knowing when i arrive in a foreign country.Brilliant video and im looking forward to more videos, thanks for sharing.
The City Pass is really convenient and so easy to take from the airport terminal. We would definitely say the metro but if you land at night be careful, they sometimes close the metro for a couple of hours (maintenance) and they especially don't communicate that in their app or website 😉.
I should have a long plane change break next month so we decided to visit Your beautiful city between the flights - the information in this video is exactly what we need, many thanks!
For an American who has known nothing but car-centered infrastructure, that "old" train station looks amazing to me. It has a lot of charm and uniqueness to it.
Both Metro and Train to and from the Airport are painfree. The Metro is so easy to use, no barriers because Denmark is civilised and everyone understands if they a caught travelling without a ticket it's a hefty fine! Unlike New York or London where fare evaders are rife and just give fake addresses when caught or pretend 'me no speak English' when only moments before there were into their iPhones communicating quite adequately! You see it all then time. The Copenhagen metro being so new has been really well planned with elevators from platform to street level in mosts cases (I haven't visited every station). Not having to struggle with tickets and barriers make it a breeze. I got the train back to the airport from central Station purely to avoid the 'really very easy' interchange at Kongens Nytorv. Copenhagen is a joy! Other cities take note!
Went to Copenhagen from a country that does not have a metro system so this video really helped! Provided all the necessary information and great tips! Navigating was very easy. Thank you :)
Hi Chris! Thanks for this visual guide! I'll be flying into CPH with a 3.5 hour layover so I'm researching how to take the Metro toward Nyhavn via Kongens Nytorv, take selfies along the canal, and then ride back toward the airport for my onward flight to Dublin. It'll be my very first time in Denmark, ever! And it wasn't even supposed to happen, but SAS unceremoniously modified my layover (was ARN, now CPH). And I thought well actually, I might like the change!
Thanks for this awesome video (and your other ones). We are taking our two teenage kids on a Scandinavian adventure in June of 25 and we are doing Denmark first. We have dear friends that live in Sweden, so we are covered there, but sheesh Hotel rooms in Copenhagen for families seem spendy haha. Luckily with your info, we will find what works best for us. We are also going to Maribo area for one day/night to visit where my 2-4th generations of great grandparents lived! Cannot Wait!
I love these kinds of videos as someone anxious about finding my way in new places, being able to see the path and follow along with you is just what I need so thank you!
Very informative and straightforward. Coming to Copenhagen next month sept 11-14th 2024 for three nights. Will definitely follow your guidelines and also look into day pass tickets. Haha just subscribed and downloaded this video just incase my internet roaming mess up. Much love from Glasgow, Scotland
Thanks for the explanation of the metro. I followed the instructions and made it to my hotel without a problem. Even took the mandatory selfie😊. The best part of this video is that I am familiar with the metro station map on day one of vacation and feel comfortable going wherever I want now for the rest of my stay. Thanks!
Hi!! I will be visiting Copenhagen for the first time next week! This is a very helpful vid. I’ll be staying at Next House. So it sounds like the metro is my best option
Thank you for making this video. I plan to visit Copenhagen in August. You've taken my anxiety about travel to and from the airport much easier. Thank you.

Hello Kris. This is so cool to find your video here on youtube. First Danish youtuber that I watch. Thanks for showing your beautiful Copenhagen. I have a passion for Copenhagen as I saw your town in some of Alfred Hitchcock films! I will try to watch your content. Greetings from Rio de Janeiro.
Pretty good stuff, I just have some extra tips and corrections that might be useful. So if you're going into Copenhagen then AVOID THE TRAIN TO SLAGELSE! Not many people know about this, but recently a new train line was introduced which runs only once every hour from Copenhagen Airport to Slagelse. This train completely bypasses downtown Copenhagen, running non stop from Ørestad on the southern end of Amager, to Høje Taastrup, a transit hub at the edge of the suburbs. So be sure you avoid any train saying Slagelse on it. Secondly, you can actually as a tourist get your own Travelcard if you're for instance staying for a few days and will be using transit periodically, like not enough to warrant Citypass daytickts, or maybe wanting more flexibility. At machines like the one in the middle of the corridor at 4:24, you can actually get your own Travel card. It requires a 50kr deposit to be preloaded onto the card, but after that you receive your very own card and can benefit from the discounted ticket prices that come with it. Just be sure to load enough money onto it that you don't run out mid journey, which can be done at the same machines. If you use the Travel card though, be sure you tap check out at the end of your trip but only the very end. The way it works is you hold it on the Blue check in orbs when starting your trip, as well as tap it on check in orbs for every time you transfer to another bus, train, or metro line. And only at the end you tap it at the check out orb and your fare will be calculated. That way if you for instance take a 3 zone trip with a transfer in the middle, you pay for one 3 zone ticket rather than two separate 2 zone tickets. And with the Rejsekort, that can be the difference between 23 kroner and 33 kroner so theres a lot of money to be saved there.
Thanks a lot for your comment! I just checked, and you're right about the train to Slagelse - I had never heard of this or seen it at the station. Great info, thanks! You're also totally right about the Travel Card. I deliberately left that info out of this video as I didn't want to make our confusing public transport ticket options seem even more complicated for tourists who are just here for a few days. But perhaps that's an idea for another video. Thanks for your super helpful comment 🙌
I'm quite familiar with Denmark, but I think that the airport trains can be confusing to tourists as to which trains actually go via the city centre. At least they only seem to go as far as Østerport now, whereas before they used to go to Nivå and Helsingør, as if any foreigners will know where that is! Heck, even Østerport and København H on the destination board would stump some tourists who don't do their research.
Also I would not really recommended Rejsekort/travel card for short-term tourists. The anonymous cards, the only real choice for tourists, cost 80 kroner and require a 70 kroner minimum balance, and that's per traveller. This goes up to a whopping 600 kroner should you wish to travel outside of Sjælland. Yes you can get this balance refunded (apparently), and yes, a trip on this card is cheaper than buying a single ticket, but in my eyes, with the high amount of trips a tourist might make, and with all the hassle involved with getting and using a Rejsekort, you're better off getting a City Pass if you're only visiting for ~a week.
Great help! I plan to do a fjordes cruise in 2026 from Copenhagen. We plan to stay in a hotel the day before our cruise. I think we'll look for 1 nearer to the city centre metro area and use the metro. I just need to look into how to get to the cruise terminal 2 days later !
I went to Copenhagen about 7 years ago from London. The area around the ticket machines was a total mess with building work but there were plenty of assistants on hand who spoke English to help me. I took the train, no delays, and my hotel was about 5 minutes walk from the central station so it was a short and easy trip. If go again, I'd like to try the metro but it may depend on where my hotel is. You should also mention the Blue Planet Aquarium near the airport. Maybe the metro wasn't build when I was there becasue I had to take quite a long bus ride to get there but looking just now, there is a metro stop fairly close by
Yes, there's been a massive upgrade in the airport regarding the ticket machines; now it's a breeze. Whether the train or the metro is the best option is surely down to hotel-location. Good shout! Thanks for your comment.
I have lived 40 years as a British citizen. in Copenhagen. Please always take a metro direct from the airport into nearly all parts of Central copenehagen and then change if needed. . Make sure u have bought the correct tickets as the security guards are always around. and will fine you around 700 kroner per person. For the best coffee in town drop in at Kongeshave Kafferiet. tiny little place on the corner of the Kings gardens ,located in one of the old guard houses at one of the entrances to the gardens , where the old palace is. Worth a look and you can sit outside and even if lucky watch the guards in full uniform with headgear and playing music march past.
😅Great Video, Yes if only all Airport Transfers were like this. 🙂 Really Like your Edit and solid Presentation, I SUBSCRIBED. Happy Travels, Keep SMILING, and Have a Great Day. ☺
Good morning!!! Buongiorno~~~ I loved this video, we are thinking about Copenhagen in November, however what train do you take from Airport to Tivoli Hotel?? and what do you think of it?? Thank you
As a Copenhagener for the last 10 years I agree, metro all day long. If you do take the train though be careful you go to the correct platform or you'll end up in Sweden 😅 Side note: I've even cycled to the airport a couple of times, which is pretty cool (without a suitcase of course)
This has been super helpful! Traveling for the first time out of the USA ever in early April and this has calmed a few nerves on how to travel! Any suggestions for traveling from Downtown Copenhagen to Balrup?
Thanks a lot - love getting feedback like this and I love helping fellow travellers 🙌 You can get the C and H s-trains to Ballerup from Nørreport, CPH Central Station and a lot of other downtown stations. It takes about 30 mins from Central Copenhagen ✌🏻
@@destinationwellknownOh my quick response and super helpful! Seriously, this video has helped a ton. Skimming through the others for more tips. Thank you!!
Not well known, you can buy an all zones, 24-hrs ticket. I believe it's DKK120 now, and with that you can go anywhere East of Roskilde and West of Øresund. It's cheaper than buying two tickets for all zones, if you're taking a round trip to the end of the railroad...
Merci beaucoup ... vraiment ! ... cette vidéo est simple, bien expliquée .L'inconnu, la détresse, la peur, le stress dans un aéroport ... Cette vidéo permet de bien gérer toutes ces difficultés ... et donne envie de partir au Danemark (France) .... Traduction : Thank you very much...really! ... this video is simple, well explained. I wouldn't take a bus from the airport to Nørrebro. You can take the metro to Kongens Nytorv and change to the circle line that runs to Nørrebro Station - the total travel time here is only around 30 minutes. You could take the 5C bus directly from the airport to Nørrebro, but it'd take about 1 hour. This is, however, the slowest route into town, and the traffic can be pretty bad.
Hi, I also lived in Copenhagen but this Metro option is only good if you do not have luggage. Then it's recomended otherwise I will always prefer to take taxi as it is easy to take and at right on my door I will be in 20 minutes without any hactic of rolling my luggage all the way. Thanks
Studied here back in the early 2010s and remember being totally confused at CPH with the bewildering to foreigners klippkort system. But alas, the friendliness of Danish folks there never failed us as we were guided by strangers all the way to Lyngby.
This is so helpful. I was trying to figure out how to do that ride. I'll have the Discovery Card so I assume I can skip the ticket machine and just show the card/app if asked? And, arriving with a small suitcase and staying near (west) of Central Station, still recommended to take the metro and make the transfer to the other line vs direct train? I'll be arriving at airport on a weekday around 2:30pm in a couple of weeks.
I dunno if I've been lucky with the trains, but I've been to Copenhagen half a dozen times and never really encountered any delays with it. Perhaps again, I've maybe been lucky haha
Yes, when I lived in Copenhagen I often did it (not to the the centre, but to my flat close to Lergravsparken metro station on Amager). And I liked the way, sometimes along "Amager Strand", sometimes more inland close to metro.
Cool. Going to Copenhagen next month. So the ticket you buy at the red train ticket machines, you can use on the train or on the metro? Is there a round trip option? And does that have an expiration? (Only in Copenhagen for the weekend). Tak!
Thanks so much for the arrival video. Seems is so simple after watching the video By the way do you know where is Bucherer the Rolex Watch shop in Copenhagen. We are staying at Wakeup Berbade hotel
Thank you for your video! Extremely helpful. My husband and I will be in Copenhagen late September for a 7 hour layover. Now that we watched the video, we know to take the metro. We have 7 hours in Copenhagen. How do you suggest we spend our time, including having some local food.
Hi Joseph. Thank you very much! Depending on the time of the day you're here, I'd recommend taking the metro to Nørreport, where you'll find Torvehallerne, a food market hall. Get some food there and then walk through the Inner City to Rundetårn (The Round Tower), go up there and get an epic view of the city. From there, you can go to Nyhavn, enjoy the scenery, and jump on a canal cruise for 1 hour. Perhaps get some more food/coffee/drinks and then get the metro back to the airport from Kongens Nytorv. Hope that helps 🇩🇰
Thank you for these videos. You do a great job. I’ll be in Copenhagen for 3 days. I was planning on using public transport. Would it be worth it to get the Rejsekort card for a few days or just pay each trip?
Great information thanks. I’m going to have a 5hr layover in Copenhagen on my way to Munich, is that enough time to take a walk around and maybe get something to eat?

Gracias muy útil .. me ayudaste en decidirme si Metro o Tren 👍
Gracias 🙏
The infrastructure is great! It was very easy for me to move around Copenhagen.
Totally agree 🤝

Thank you for making this video will help me since I want to see this place for a quick stop over thank you.
Thanks for the comment - I'm happy to help 🤠
it worked perfect and we loved Copenhagen thanks
Awesome to hear, thanks!
Worth a look and you can sit outside and even if lucky watch the guards in full uniform with headgear and playing music march past.
so helpful. thank you!
Thanks!
Very simple and well done. Thank you!
Thank you!
😅Great Video, Yes if only all Airport Transfers were like this. 🙂 Really Like your Edit and solid Presentation, I SUBSCRIBED. Happy Travels, Keep SMILING, and Have a Great Day. ☺
Thanks a lot 🙌
My husband and I plan to visit Copenhagen for the first time next year.
Have a wonderful trip 🇩🇰
Good morning!!! Buongiorno~~~ I loved this video, we are thinking about Copenhagen in November, however what train do you take from Airport to Tivoli Hotel?? and what do you think of it?? Thank you
This is great content. I absolutely love travel vlogs. Thanks you for the tip on the taxi versus metro.New subscriber here 🇿🇼🤗🇬🇧
Thank you very much 🙏🏻
Awesome video!! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for your comment!
Thanks a lot - love getting feedback like this and I love helping fellow travellers 🙌
You can get the C and H s-trains to Ballerup from Nørreport, CPH Central Station and a lot of other downtown stations. It takes about 30 mins from Central Copenhagen ✌🏻
@@destinationwellknownOh my quick response and super helpful! Seriously, this video has helped a ton. Skimming through the others for more tips. Thank you!!
Good tip! Trains or metros are much better! I loved Copenhagen
Thank you! I agree 🤝

You’re the best brother! Thanks for this video.
Thank you 🙌
Very helpful 🙏
Thanks 🇩🇰
recomend checking out if the copenhagencard is a good fit for u.
Good idea 🤝
Great video! Thanks a lot..
Thank you, Gustavo 🙌🏻
Not well known, you can buy an all zones, 24-hrs ticket. I believe it's DKK120 now, and with that you can go anywhere East of Roskilde and West of Øresund. It's cheaper than buying two tickets for all zones, if you're taking a round trip to the end of the railroad...

Dear chris kindly make an video for bus travelling from Copenhagen airport to Norrebro or other major spots.
Thanks for your video. I’m curious to know is there are elevators at the stations? 😅 just for people carrying big bags
There is ✌️
Thanks so much!
Hi,
I also lived in Copenhagen but this Metro option is only good if you do not have luggage. Then it's recomended otherwise I will always prefer to take taxi as it is easy to take and at right on my door I will be in 20 minutes without any hactic of rolling my luggage all the way. Thanks
Hi Kris. Great video, very useful thank you. Have you any tips and tricks for solo travellers. Are there any areas to avoid or places you'd recommend?
So helpful 😊 Thank you 😁
Thanks!
I will stay in copenhagen for a week. I will see around the city and probably move with public transit. Is it worth purchasing the copenhagen card?
Thanks for the info. See said train on 20th Sept!
Cheers - have a great trip to Copenhagen 🇩🇰
Studied here back in the early 2010s and remember being totally confused at CPH with the bewildering to foreigners klippkort system.
But alas, the friendliness of Danish folks there never failed us as we were guided by strangers all the way to Lyngby.
lol well it was a bit weird
Haha oh yes - even I (as a Dane) was confused by the old school "klippekort" to be honest 😅
Awww, that is awesome to hear.
Hi Namaste 🙏🏻..... Nice video n information..... Make more on other subject too 👍🏾
Thank you very much - will do 🤝
I dunno if I've been lucky with the trains, but I've been to Copenhagen half a dozen times and never really encountered any delays with it. Perhaps again, I've maybe been lucky haha
I always walking, because weri Nice the way between Airport tű city center!
That's a long walk, but fair enough 😀
Yes, when I lived in Copenhagen I often did it (not to the the centre, but to my flat close to Lergravsparken metro station on Amager).
And I liked the way, sometimes along "Amager Strand", sometimes more inland close to metro.
Very useful indeed thanks.
Thank you 🙏🏻
Cool. Going to Copenhagen next month. So the ticket you buy at the red train ticket machines, you can use on the train or on the metro? Is there a round trip option? And does that have an expiration? (Only in Copenhagen for the weekend). Tak!
Hi thanks for this guide👍. And maybe you know, are children of 2 y.o. required to have a ticket in the public transport?
Thanks so much for the arrival video. Seems is so simple after watching the video
By the way do you know where is Bucherer the Rolex Watch shop in Copenhagen. We are staying at Wakeup Berbade hotel
Thanks for this information, but is there also a day ticket for sale for the bus, metro and train?
Nice video 📹 👍
Thanks!
Hope that helps 🇩🇰
that is a great help! @@destinationwellknown We land at 10am and leave at 6pm
Thanks! Yes, it is - get the metro to Kongens Nytorv and then you're basically in Nyhavn :)
You forgot to mention the DOT app which is also super convenient to buy train and metro tickets. 😊😊
Good shout 👍🏻
