- In this video I show you how to easily get from the arrivals hall at Copenhagen Airport into the city centre by taxi or public transport. You'll see how to buy a ticket and where to get access to taxis, trains and metro. Also if you are watching this during COVID times, where to get a PCR test if you need one.

We visited Copenhagen and Denmark last week for the first time. This video, and also the two others - Public transport tickets, and the one about Copenhagen main station - were really useful so we knew what to expect and how to get about once we'd arrived. It turned out to be a really easy experience, as we felt prepared after watching these videos, and also the metro and local train systems themselves are easy to use. The confidence we had in getting about helped us to have a really good week in the city. Even without a word of Danish!
Thank you so much for making them - they're very highly recommended!
This video was so helpful when we visited Copenhagen recently. We bought Citypass Small (Zones 1, 2, 3 & 4) for 200dkk each from the red DSB ticket machines at the airport. (Valid for 72 hours/3 days). The machines take cash so we were able to use our Danish currency in them. We used them on the Metro, buses and harbour buses. Thank you for your guidance. (Tak!)
Thanks for posting this. I'm flying into Copenhagen the first week of August to join a guided tour. Although I have an airport to hotel transfer prearranged, this will a very helpful plan B if my arrival flight is delayed too long, and I need to take the train.
Train and Metro is a lot cheaper then a taxi. Travel time is about the same. Take the train or metro. Direct to the Central station and Tivoli gardens. The Train. Metro for everywhere else. Otherwise busses. Buy a Copenhagen card for the duration. Apart from other things, free travel within CPH. Different types of CPH cards. Research 😊
My boyfriend will probably be visiting me from the UK this summer, I think this video would really help him considering I'm no city boy - Danish countryside born and raised - and he's anxious about going to a new country, so thank you!
For public transport I almost always recommend the CityPass just the cheapest option to our visitors, and if I know I have a day of traveling a lot around in Copenhagen, I use the ticket.
And great explosion
We like to use the bus when we collect people from the airport - it is slower but you get to see so much more of the city in a way. When we collected my parents just before New Year - we got to point out lots of different sights - it was a little challenging given how dirty the bus was but I think my parents appreciated the effort. Also because of where we live you can get the bus at the end of our street almost and ride it straight through to the airport. That particular bus route does cross the M1/2/3 metro lines at various different points if you should want to change along the way.
I actually mentioned the bus and then edited it out as I felt it might complicate things. I don’t find the buses dirty here though.
@@DejligeDays on the inside they are certainly clean but the one we use leading up to Christmas was extra dirty. I think because of the rain/sleet and the salt on the roads etc. Either that or we just got the grubbiest bus that particular day! 😂
Very helpful thanks so much. Clips like this help me travel to new destinations without the stress of figuring things out. I like to plan
Very useful ! Looking forward to more daily videos from Denmark.
Arriving from Canada in May. This was such a helpful video. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for sharing this information. I am going alone to Copenhagen from Iceland tonight. Being an Icelander I am not very used to trains and metros since we don't have any. Hopefully I will be able to figure things out for myself based on this video :)
I’m sure you’ll have no problems. There are plenty of train/metro people around if you need any help. Have a great trip.
thank you looking forward for my 7 hrs stop over at Copenhagen this mid of May.
super video, thank you. can be stressful for first timers especially us visiting during a short layover/stop over. thank you!
Thank you so much for this excellent video I will be there next July .
Thank you for this video.I may be traveling later in the year, seeing that the previous visits I had someone pick me up,but this time around,I want to do it by myself
Great video! I'll be utilizing your great information on a day trip/ long layover in about a week. :)
I´m flying from Oslo to Hamburg with an 8hour layover in Copenhagen. It´s a sneaky way for me to see another county in a fun whirlwind trip. I want to convert my remaining Norwegian money into Danish money and walk around downtown for a bit. So I´d get a round trip to central station and back in time to get to the plane.
Exactly. 20 minutes and you are right in the centre. I’d recommend getting the metro to Kongens Nytorv.
Great video. Thanks so much. Took a lot of stress away.
very informative and straight forward !! thanks a lot
Very helpful info. Thanks so much for that!
so so helpful! thank you so much. cant wait to visit in three weeks :)
I’m watching this in Mid June 2022 and coming to Denmark later this month and glad to report Covid tests no longer required to renter US
This was great thanks
I'll be going into Copenhagen in May
Very helpful! I’ll be visiting from America in June. I’m staying near Kongens Nytorv so will take the Metro. I’m anxious to see your beautiful city!
thanks. I'm going to Denmark in a month. this was helpful
Will be in CPH second week of May so your video is pretty recent! Thank you for making this video! Good to know.
You really remind me girl.. this beautiful thx a lot
Extremely helpful video. Thank you very much!
Great video - extremely informative and straightforward - thanks so much!
Thank you very much.....very well explained!!
Excellent video thanks very much for video I’m off to Copenhagen in a weeks time
Such a good video
Just what I was needing, very detailed, thank you!
Out flight departs at 7:10am on a Sunday morning. What time do you suggest we arrive at the airport by train?
Tak from 🇬🇧!
Thank you for this video, ma'am! ❤
Good video -- would be very informative when showing the Metro stops at 5:32 what the most popular city center stops are, for example get off at Kongens Nytorv if you are going to Nyhavn.
Metro for me then 😊. Thank You!
Thank you for this!!
Thank you, very informative❤
Merci!
THANK YOU ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for this video, it is a huge help!
Everything looks very straightforward and easy on those signs.
I am just wondering, which one is more crowded? I usually prefer using the metro if that is an option but every city is different.
It very much depends on the time of the day however the metro runs every five minutes or so, so it doesn’t get too busy.
@@DejligeDays Thank you for the answer!
You are absolutely a life saver. I am visiting Copenhagen to celebrate me and a new year . This is very helpful and I can’t wait to visit your beautiful country. Are you able to suggest 12 day visit would you just spend in Denmark or visit Sweden as well??
From Copenhagen you can easily do day trips to Sweden. The train from Copenhagen Central to Malmö is quick and usually runs every 20 minutes. The cathedral town Lund is close as well. For a longer day trip, you can take the train from Copenhagen to Helsingør (maybe visit Kronborg), take the ferry across to Helsingborg in Sweden and take the train from Helsingborg down to Lund, Malmö and back to Copenhagen.
Even with day trips, 12 days is a long time to spend sightseeing in Copenhagen. You might consider spending some of those days in another city like Stockholm or Berlin.
I would take a trip to Lund in Sweden for a day or for a two day/ one night trip I can recommend Gothenburg ( check out my video from last year about my trip there). It’s easy to get to by train from Malmo. Also getting out of Copenhagen to the coast in the North (again I have a video about Gilleleje). This is also easy by train from Copenhagen and a good day out.
How about the bus journey? I thought of taking the bus because I would get to see the city.
Hi, the information is very helpful 😊 I’ll be arriving on a cruise ship in June 2023, if I get a taxi to the central train station would there be lockers for suitcases so that I can have a look around & then get train to airport for flight home 🤔
Yes there is secure left luggage at the main station.
Thanks for the video, very helpful! 👍 We're going to CPH soon & planning to buy City Pass Small. Question : do the validities (for example 48hrs) start from the moment we buy the City Pass?
Taxa is best
thank u for this queen
Very informative! I'm flying to Copenhagen from the UK next month and have been told I need to get the train to Orestad instead of the Metro which goes into the centre. So we don't have to validate the tickets we buy from the machine? Thanks for the warning about the inspectors! Can I buy a travel card to cover the whole week I will be there? I want to get the train or bus over to Malmo for a day trip.
Really helpful, thanks 👌👌
😎Merci! ( TAK )
Thanks a lot!
Can you please make video how to go Nyhavn from CPH thnx
Hello, thank you for your video. In the place that you said to have careful in the train, one goes to sweden, i presume that in the other platform i take the train to Osteport. Am i correct?
Yes indeed
I really wish Denmark would get with the times and allow ride share services into the Country like everywhere else.
Not a good idea. These ride share companies promoting tax fraud (same as AirBnb) and moreover they do not obey the laws for transporting people. They are becoming a global pest.
What do you suggest of an 8 hour layover? Is 4 hours enough to scope the old city?
Definitely plenty of time. Metro takes you to Kongens Nytorv in about 20 minutes directly from the airport. From there you can easily walk around the main sights ie Nyhavn, Amalienborg, Marmorkirken, Strøget and take an hour long canal tour which takes you past all the other sights ie Opera House etc. You will need a three zone transit ticket.
Great video! Do you know if it's possible to buy multiple City Passes at once? We're arriving with a group of 15 people and everyone wants it's own pass to travel.
It is possible, but if you can buy 15 at once is a good question.
Hi, can I use a city pass small from City Centre to Den Bå Planet?
Yes you can. dinoffentligetransport.dk/citypass
Thank you for this useful information. I personally went to Denmark 10 years ago and I am planning to go back for 2.5 weeks next year. Could you please tell me whether or not there is still a ticket office where you can buy a rejsekort at the airport? Thanks :)
No. You may be able to buy one from a machine but I would go to København H and get one there.
they are trains without human operators (autonomous).
This is very helpful! I do have a follow up question, I am visiting a friend who is staying at Manon Les Suites, checking Google maps, it shows me I would take the M2 metro from the airport and get off at “Forum” When purchasing a one way ticket from the airport, which station do I choose? Looks like Forum station is after “Nørreport” Would that be the appropriate ticket I purchase at the airport?
You need to buy a three zone ticket from one of the ticket machines at the Metro in the airport. That covers you to get into the city and all the zones in the centre including Forum. You can use the Rejseplanen (Google it to get the app on your phone) and you can plan your journeys and see the prices etc. Have a great trip!
Hi again, in your video you showed the metro ticket machine screen, I did not see an option for 3 zone ticket but rather locations of stations. The Nørreport was shown in the options in your video also I saw “other destination” should I click that button and located Forum as an option?
@@nette1065 Yes, click 'Other destination' and select Forum to make sure you get the right ticket. Behind the scenes, it doesn't really matter: Single tickets are valid on any public transit within a certain number of zones, irrespective of the actual destination. The destinations are only shown to help people buy a ticket for the right number of zones.
I realise this answer is likely coming too late for your trip, but it might help others.
hi. it was not included in your video but is it easy to spot the FLIXBUS STOP aroun the airport? thanks
Yes. It is just around the Clarion Hotel.
Does the city pass work for the train and the metro? Or just the metro? My hotel is near central station, so i dont want to use the metro until i'm in and around the city
It is for all transport within the area shown, there is a metro & train connection directly from the airport to the central station so either option will be fine
@@jonashemmersam4294 I'm back now😂😂
Hi! Can the travel pass for metro train and bus let you get the train to Malmo Sweden?
Do you mean the "Rejsekort"? Yes, it can, but you only can check out at Malmø Sentral and (I am not 100% sure) at "Trianglen".
Hi, if I want to get to Central Station from airport is the easiest option a regional train..thanks
Yes it is.
If I get the train to central station does it terminate there or does it go on past central station ?
They often go beyond the main station but all trains towards Copenhagen from the airport stop at Central Station. It is usually the third stop.
Rent a bike like homer simpson 😅😅
In Denmark you have to have a ticket for each zone you travel through. And it is almost impossible to find out what zone you are in. They deliberately hide what zone you in because they earn truckloads of money from tourist hunting stewards that hands out fines for not having a valid ticket even though it's almost impossible to find what zone you are in
This is why the best option is the "Rejsekort". You check in and out and you do not have to worry about zones.
Thank you for this very helpful video!
