Thank you! I've often tried to argue that evangelism is a spiritual gift, even though anybody could occasionally share the gospel. The evangelist is skilled in material preparation, public speaking, having quick answers from memorized scripture, and a thick skin to handle rejection and attacks from false teachers. Not everyone can do this. I don't have the gift, but I'll sometimes place custom-made gospel tracts in various places.
To say that evanglism is a spiritual gift is supported by Scripture, see Eph. 4:11. I do not think that evangelist is a skill you can train. From my observation, those who have that gift have a certain personality type. But then again, it is not a given that only because I have certain personality traits, I can assume that I must have the gift that corresponds to those. It appears though that God does choose to give certain spiritual gifts to people that also match their natural history, background and training. He picked Moses, who was educated at Pharaoh's court, to later go and demand from another Pharaoh to let the Israelites go. He chose Paul, trained as a Pharisee, to found churches and to address the problem of the Judaizers and of those who boasted in their natural eloquence (see Corinthians), to refute these issues. He knew the law better than anybody else. But yeah, I think it's great that you place good gospel tracts in certain places. We should go ahead and do what we desire to do and find joy in doing for the furthering of the gospel, without pressure and as God leads.
I have been in an evangelism group since 2010. We have done everything from door to door in housing subdivisions to city streets. We finally settled on a park with a walking path where we hand out water and tracts. Most people will take a tract. Very few will debate you so having quick answers is really not a requirement. Since coming out of Galatian error I am careful to screen tracts to make sure they don't say we must turn from sin to be saved.
@peetos-chan2835 But, to balance this with a positive feedback: You didn't only give me 3 thumbs-up this time, but a whole 3-word-sentence together with it! So, that balances out your laziness a bit...😄
Excellent, amen. Thank you, Eva. Praise Jesus 🙌
Amen & Thank you Eva !!!
