  • This human-interest series took requests from television viewers who wanted to see various things on the show, such as celebrity appearances, carnival acts, exotic animals, or log-rolling contests.
It first aired live on the DuMont Network from 1950-51, and was originally titled "The Art Baker Show", after the show's host. The program moved to ABC in 1952 and ran until 1959.
Revivals of the show appeared in syndication in 1972 and 1981. The Family Channel (today's "Freeform") aired a version called "You Asked For It Again" from 1991-92. A short-lived version also aired on NBC in 2000.
In this DuMont-era episode, a diver wrestles with an octopus, lost relatives are reunited, and movie special effects secrets are revealed. Original commercials were included.

Wow, a rare Dumont network broadcast! This moved to ABC on Jan 1952 and stayed until Sept 1959.

Those were some impressive dance moves the old Vaudevillian did. I’m also impressed with how “rough” Art Baker is. He would never make it as a host today. He was a delight back then, but nowadays, we are used to flawless narration and only the rarest bit of miss spoken commentary.

Yeah, they really refined the indoctrination over the years. Now they don't miss a beat with the bs narratives they push, you are right.

I used to watch this as a kid. Back then we didn't notice the mis ques or other irregularities that were common in the day.
I just had a Skippy peanut butter sandwich and remembered this show so, I had to see if I could pull it up.
Yeah, some things are pretty juvenile. But hey, it was good clean entertainment for the family.

My godfather, Chester Hays, who had a trained monkey appeared a bunch of times having the monkey doing various things. The only one I recall is the monkey dressed as a cowboy riding a dog. My mom told me he had he most appearances on the show.

At that time Skippy was an all-natural peanut butter. In 2023 I purchase TEDDY PEANUT BUTTER.

Any change that you can post the appearance of Buddy and Vilma Ebsen on "You Asked for It"? It was on RUclips at one point but disappeared.
