Ah, Peter Whitney. A great character actor. Could do comedy and get serious when called for. You see him on "The Rifleman", and as Layfe Crick on the "Hillbillies". Man, he was a riot on that. Top notch laughs.

"Little Beaver" was played by a young Robert Blake, who later became well-known as the title character of the "Barretta" TV series. "Pat" was played by Kenneth MacDonald who is probably best known from a series of shorts with "The Three Stooges" where he usually played a gangster, a swindler, or some other kind of villain.

Shotgun Slade is a good western series. I was a kid when Paladin (Have Gun, Will Travel), Gunsmoke, and Rawhide, etc. were really popular. It's Sept. 2024 and I'll take these westerns over the absolute trash polluting the airwaves today.

It is perhaps a minor coincidence that a little over a year after this episode, He Ran For His Life, first aired, Ben Gazzara would go on to star in the NBC drama Run For Your Life, which ran 1965-68.

Oodles of thanks for uploading this unsold pilot. I can see why it didn't sell. It was OK but nothing really special. Dale's character would have been a sort of "adventurer", meeting new people to help each week. A bit of an anthology series, the way "Tales of the Wells Fargo" was for Mr. Robertson.
