    Yet another video that seems to be right up my alley.
    Passport - Check
    Plane ticket - Check
    Pocket wifi - Check
    JR Pass - Check
    JAPLANNING - I AM SO USING THAT FROM NOW ON... lol - Check
    Japanese.... - uhhhh - Well we will see how it goes. I'm not a savant.
    We think of almost the same wave length... So interesting. I am going to add... magnetic compass, I was in the boy scouts so just incase the phone is completely dead or lost, and I know which direction something is... I can at least keep track of where I am headed. I am dying to see your new Japan video. Get me all amped up for when I go in June.

    I'm excited for you to come to Japan again.

      If you're still looking to book flights to Japan I saw return flights to Tokyo from London in May and/or June for around £450 with KLM which is bloody good if you don't mind a connection going both ways. I'm just about to book it myself.

  • @fuzexi

    So is it cheaper/ better to buy plane tickets and book hotels at the same time? Or does it not really make much difference? What about insurance? Don’t they usually ask you about that when you buy a plane ticket? Sorry, I’ve never planned a holiday before…

    • @cakeswithfaces
      @cakeswithfaces  9 месяцев назад +1

      You don't need to book flights and hotels together. Book the flights on the airline's website, and for hotels, shop around and compare prices - the prices vary on each hotel booking website so there isn't one that's always best. Once you've got the flights booked and you have your dates locked in, get your travel insurance (so you're covered for cancellation). There are hundreds of companies that do travel insurance if you search online! Some credit cards include travel insurance too.

    Hope you see this. I'm hoping to go out in November from the UK. How did you book your Ghibli tickets? Is voyager worth using? Also is there a good site for the pop up cafes?

    • @cakeswithfaces
      @cakeswithfaces  5 лет назад +1

      On the Studio Ghibli Museum website there are links to the official ticket agents for each country. Follow the link and order from them. When I booked the process was a bit strange and you had to provide several choices for dates you could go, then they picked one for you (they might have changed it now). Book them as early as you can because it sells out every day! They limit numbers so it's not too crowded. I usually hear about pop up cafes online - I follow a lot of Japan blogs etc on Twitter! I don't know of a one-stop listing of them - tell me if you find one as it'd be really useful!! :-)

    • @cakeswithfaces

    Thank you,this video was very helpful. I am traveling to Japan for the 1st time in November to exhibit at Design Festa. I'm very nervous as I am going alone and my Japanese is limited. I was wondering if you have any experience selling your merch abroad and if you have any tips? Thank you!

    • @cakeswithfaces
      @cakeswithfaces  6 лет назад

      How exciting! I'd love to go to Design Festa, it looks amazing and so creative. I've never taken my stall abroad - on the whole you'll be fine not knowing much Japanese, because lots of signs and menus etc are in English, and it's amazing how much you can communicate with miming and pointing, etc! If I was going to have a stall though, I'd pick some common phrases & FAQs, translate them, and make some cards to hold up just in case people don't understand. In shops it's quite common for people to use a calculator to show the total price, so that might be useful on your stall.

    I do have one question with pocket wifi. I ordered mine, and I am having them deliver it to my hotel for when I get there. Should I call the hotel prior to leaving to let them know this is coming, so the will for sure hold it for me? What do you do, and how does it work out for you?

    • @cakeswithfaces
      @cakeswithfaces  6 лет назад

      I've picked mine up from the airport before. I'd imagine the hotel would be used to receiving wifis for other people so unless it says on your booking, you probably don't need to notify them.

    Hi Amy. Thank you for your insightful video. Travelling to japan is expensive so my time will be limited there. How would I make pen pals in japan? I’ve used a website for pen pals for a while but got no luck. Just thought you had a better idea. 😁.

    • @cakeswithfaces
      @cakeswithfaces  6 лет назад

      Amardeep Atwal You could try Hello Talk? It’s an app for practicing languages - even if you don’t want to write in Japanese, there are lots of Japanese people on there who want to practice their English.

    could you elaborate more on the visa

    • @cakeswithfaces
      @cakeswithfaces  6 лет назад

      For UK citizens, if it's a tourist trip for up to 90 days, you don't need to apply for a visa in advance. They give you a slip to fill in on the plane - you can see it in my flying to Japan video: ruclips.net/video/kfAitP2Zv5w/видео.html I'm not sure if that's the same for other countries, so I'd do a quick search for "(your country) visa for japan" just to make sure.

      waverli On the website there’s a list of agents for each country, who you have to book through. With the UK one, it’s an unusual process where you select 3 dates you want to go, then they send you the tickets for one of those days.
