New to your channel, love it- and I LOVE your cat!!!! I have an RMJ and it is totally bullet proof as a breaching and utility tool but WAY too heavy for combative use, at least for me.
Rolando ... Thank you for this informative video. One note: The Wingard Empress trainer is available for separate purchase on the Wingard site. It is not included with the standard Empress as a package deal.
I keep going back to the Cold Steel trench hawk, my use case is more as a tool that can cross over. It also has a trainer version for interactive thats decently good as far as trainers go, and can still be used with the sheath on if you don't have the trainer. The weight distribution hasn't bothered me too much either, but I also swap between a variety of Arnis rattan sticks of varying weights and synthetic trainers, as well as other weapon styles and sizes from small knives to swords to polearms. I do like how more companies are seeing the value of trainer versions using unsharpened or softer materials.
@@RolandoEstocada like you said in the video there is definitely a difference between a tool, weapon and hybrid. For someone learning tomahawk use without former applicable training I would agree and caution against the Trench Hawk. For someone who has that though (especially Escrima/Kali/Arnis because they translate) Id recommend giving it a try, but to know its limitations and dangers. Enjoyed this vid and info (your shirt too), subbed and I'll check out some of your backlog as I have time to do so. 👍
Howdy Rolando, have you ever checked out the CRKT Kangee Tomahawk? I think you may find it interesting. It's been around a long time, has some thoughtful design elements.
I have and I believe it is based on the RMJ Jenny Wren, which I have had a chance to handle. A very good tool, however not educative in the sense that it doesn’t give as much feedback so that our biomechanics are forced to adapt.
I've still got mine. Super lame but I bought when 11 so 33 years ago was like $11. Cold steel not a thing then but got a tanto knife from a company they bought. Made wicked one from a 1lb ball pein hammer. Also could make a practice one from plywood
RMJ used to make a trainer for the Shrike (might have made one for another model, not sure) but that was several years ago and they no longer do, it was a molded version so it looked exactly like the live one, it was too light though and a touch flimsy - also pricey
Hey Rolando, for CQC, would you pick the Winkler or Bastinelli Addiction Axe? I want to pull the trigger and make a purchase for the collection but not sure as to which to get... leaning towards Bastinelli but your input would be appreciated 🙏
Both are great! Personal favorite is the Winkler. Tomorrow’s episode at 10am will explain why (make sure you put your notifications on so you don’t miss it). 🙏🏽🔥👊🏽

Thank you! She loves to be a helper!
Which RMJ model do you have?
And welcome to the channel!

Absolutely love the knowledge you shared thks🙏
More videos to come!

Top video. I will buy a Tomahawk after see this. Best wishes from Germany.
🙏🏽🔥👊🏽 Thank you for your support!
i think there is a lot validity in the way wingard makes his tomahawks, compact, lightweight and easy to carry
Agreed - easily one of my favorite designers. Him, along with Tirona/Lusky at Alfa Knife need more exposure.
That was very well done sir. Thank you

I think hybrids like the Trenchhawk are great! Just not the educative tool to work with to really get into what tomahawk combatives are about. 🙏🏽🔥👊🏽

Thank you, Sensei Estocada. I decided to get the Gerber Downrange Tomahawk while waiting for my custom Winkler Sayoc Tomahawk to arrive.
Are you serious?
@@RolandoEstocada Absolutely! After watching your unboxing videos, I just had to order a Winkler tomahawk
Great tips on a selection process. Their are so many options its very good to have this kind of feedback. Well balanced breachers seem hard to find.
Thank you Mark! The selection at the Estocada table isn’t quite complete yet. More to come on that…
That 🐈 is cool!
😊😊😊😊
Good food for thought. Thanks!
Awesome video bud.
🙏🏽🔥👊🏽 thank you my friend

Great video as usual. Thanks. Just curious what do you think of the SOG tomahawk?
Thank you - I haven’t handled one so I have no opinion of it (yet).
Great information brother!

I never thought of creating my own Kata.
I encourage it. I think FMA Carenza is great for tool familiarization, kata/sayaw contextualizes movement from a tactical standpoint.

I cant wait for this episode. I wanna see how i did. . Remember.. you started this.. lol.
I’m sure you did fine!

Chris at Vulpes Training makes a trainer similar to the RmJ hawk. They are very sturdy and can give someone a bad day if used appropriately.
@@fugu_facesr.7081 I sold mine and the trainer, but watching these are making me want another one
