There's so much beauty in the song, but what gets me every time the most, are 3 things: His feeling of helplessness towards the grief of his wife who is blaming herself and how there seemed to be nothing he could say or do to comfort her but just seemed to make it even worse The realisation how choosing a name for the baby defined her as a person - also, it tells us the miscarriage probably happened when they were further along in the pregnancy, not in the first trimester The shift of perspective in the bridge, where he's not speaking to Sophia anymore but directly to their daughter. Thank you so much for picking up the suggestion and providing us with these insights ❤
This song gets me every time. Every line is a perfect explanation. I have had 9 pregnancies but have 2 children. My youngest is now 17. So it's been a while but there are times when something touches on that pain and brings it back to the surface. One of my sisters is a linguist and told me that every language has words for someone who has lost a spouse, a parent... but none have a word for someone who has lost a child, because we aren't supposed to bury our children. In some ways I've found that thought comforting. It's such a hard thing to deal with because we aren't supposed to.
The thing that gets me people forget how much the. Father suffers too. The mother gets all the sympathy we forget most times dad suffers also. My husband was devastated when we lost our son.
Two wonderful songs by James Blunt are the result of his military service in the British Army while in Kosovo. “Carry me home “, always makes me cry . Also “No Bravery” filmed by James in the Balkans. Well worth exploring.
"Beautiful and painful" is a good definition of the emotions that are transmitted in this song. The loss of a loved one is something that happens to us sooner or later in life and even more so when it is seen as an unfinished project. Different feelings attack us: non-acceptance, anger, sadness, guilt, etc. Knowing how to manage all of this seems like an impossible task. Over time, after several losses, it is not that it is less painful, but more or less knowing how to follow the path of those emotions and also allow them and express them. I agree that asking for help from a professional, because sometimes those emotions are overwhelming. James Blunt knows how to make songs, concise and precise in his lyrics and also, as I commented in a previous reaction, with a very peculiar voice; there is no doubt that he reaches the heart, he knows how to transmit feelings. I follow you, whenever I can, in your deep analysis... you never disappoint and I think we all learn something. Thank you so much.
After 2x miscarriage 27 years ago I thought I was well passed those types of emotion years ago, but hearing this song brought all back up again. James's song is so heart felt & therapeutic...we never did have a child....hole in my soul
@@MusicHealsHQ Thank you for your heart felt kind words. My wife and I looked at being childless as a dropped stitch in our life's tapestry, but life also offers so much more & I'm thankful for the life I share with my wife Julie, I'll always be cool uncle Rob to the kids in my family & they're enough for me...peace & love 👊
Another song from James Blunt that is very relatable to many people around the world is “Carry You Home”. It was inspired by a personal experience that James had and is beautifully written and performed. You’ll want to react to the Official Music Video in order to experience the full impact of the song! ❤
This song resonated very strongly with me. I have always wanted children but fate destroyed that dream. My wife was pregnant but due to a diagnoses of a very aggressive cancer they had to terminate the pregnancy and remove all her reproductive organs. She was devastated and I had to be there for her but to be honest. So many were there for her but not 1 person was there for me . I had to be her pillar but I was abandoned by society. I do not for 1 second regret being there for my wife as she needed me and I loved her so I could do no less. I do not believe in God or any of that (do not wish to diss believers) so there no hope in my belief I will meet my child in heaven. It is a crushing situation for anyone to lose a child for any reason and my heart goes out to them. So much is spoken about the woman's loss which truly needs to be respected but maybe we as a species need to also include men for their pain of loss. My greatest failure in life is not to have at least 1 child but fate destroyed that dream not just for me but also for her and that crushes my heart beyond anyone's understanding. I hope everyone takes a moment to understand how this brutal situation affects not just women but also men and each feel just as much pain as the other. It is not gender based, anyone with a heart feels the extreme pain of losing a child, unborn, a few years old or a grown child dying before a parent, it is a brutal hurt that tears ones heart apart. Please, stay safe everyone and I wish you all the best and happiness.
I appreciate your variety. As much as I love Ren, Tool, and many other artists, in many other genres, it is nice to see your perspective on the many different emotions. It’s also cool to see new stuff from the reactor world. 😊
As with Monsters, and his fathers chronic kidney disease and dire diagnosis, the miscarriage devastated him - and as a singer, the only way for him to deal with it, was to write a song. Very real, very powerful songs that come from the soul. Cathartic in its own way.
This speaks to me on so many levels, i had 2 miscarriages when i was 19 and 21, both miscarriages happened a few days after finding out i was pregnant. I lost my first love a few months after my second miscarriage, when he suddenly died in his sleep due to an undiagnosed heart condition. While i was devastated with each loss i look back and realise that i wasn't in the best living situation at the time and wasn't anywhere near ready to be a parent. i went back to college when i was 22, where i made loads of friends including one boy who became my best friend for 6 years, before we gave into our feelings and became a couple. We decided a few yrs later to start trying for a baby. Sadly after 16yrs of trying we never got our dream of being parents together. Sadly i lost my soul mate in august last year when he suddenly died after coming home from his job as a carpenter. We had to wait 3 months to find out what caused his death, although i felt i knew already. He'd also died of a heart attack caused by an undiagnosed heart condition. (The same thing that killed my first love) Losing my soul mate crushed me, I've never felt grief like it, nearly a year later i still cant quite get used to the fact he's gone. I can't see myself ever being a mother now, i don't think i could do it without him.
So sorry to hear about your losses. I hope the video provided some comfort in knowing that your feelings matter. I’m sure your soul mate would want you to have love and peace in your heart today and always. ❤️
I had a coworker a while back who was in the 2nd half of his 40's when I knew him. He and his wife had 5 miscarriages and had to give up. They just resigned themselves to never having kids. Super nice people. It killed me that they never got the chance.
I sadly had to watch my eldest daughter giving birth to a still born baby at 26 weeks old. It really broke and destroyed my daughter and son-in-law . I got to hold my dead granddaughter and seeing what it did to my daughter nearly ended me. But happy to say that she was blessed with twins and another daughter.
So sorry to hear that you and your family had to go through that terrible experience. ❤️ But I’m grateful to hear about your three grandchildren. May you and yours stay strong and healthy! 🤟🎵🙏
I am so thrilled that your daughter went in to have children. Both my girls had several miscarriages before going on to have 2 beautiful children each, it’s so heartbreaking watching your child suffering and devastated.
Great reaction love James Blunt also ❤ Benson Boone you need to check him out Beautiful Things, slow it down, cry, in The stars are a few of his great ones.thank you
Nice reaction ,another personal one fro james ,is a song called no bravery ,about his time during the war in Kosovo. Recommend you read his book ,Loosely based on a made up story, the chapter about his time there ,is heart wrenching ,when you read about some of what he witnessed .
Maybe give a reaction to R.E.M.'s Everybody Hurts - it was written in response to rising youth suicides to encourage people who are in emotional pain to see that we all have bad times and that you can hold on to get through to better times.
One that's a bit more recent that hits for me is "Small Bump" by Ed Sheeran. I lost my first as a miscarriage at the age of 19 with my fiance at the time, sadly our relationship couldn't survive the struggles, but Ed helped me through with small bump because it's exactly how I felt during it all
I love your reactions!!! They are so true and it validates all the feels we can feel when listening to music. I'd love to see your reaction to The Pain by 15th Bend! ❤
I will definitely watch that one! After hearing it many times and singing along, I listened to once before my son went in for a NUSS procedure and it broke me. Cried like a baby.
"Dance with the devil" by immortal technique is an amazingly disturbing yet painfully real song about the gang culture are youths are forced into by poverty. I would love to hear your take on it, btw you got a new subscriber today, love your vids now

The good news is that, since the miscarriage, James and his wife have had two boys.

James sings songs about Real Life and Heart Felt. Miscarriages or the Death of a young Child unfortunately happen. That is something you NEVER Forget.

I’m sure that had to be extremely hard for them. This song really does have healing power for those in similar situations. Thanks for watching!
