Hello Andrew. I have successfully set up my Zohd Drift as per your video as well as the instructions (same controller-Ia6 receiver). I have now purchased a Kopilot set for my Durafly Tundra. Ive got it all fitted but now im trying to set Flaps up on the Auxiliary channel of the Kopilot and use channel 6 SWD to activate it. As soon as i power on the Kopilot the flaps go full down and i cant get them to respond. The rest works fine. Ive turned the mixes off and SWD works in the display setting. Can i use Aux channel for flaps? Thanks for all the great video's.
@@AndrewNewton So i solved it on your advice. Servo lead from IBus on RX (Turnigy Ia10B) to Sbus input on Kopilot. Channel 6 (Turnigy i6) paired to Switch D (only 2 position-using the 3 for flight modes), set the end points and now have 0 degree and 45 degree flaps. Thanks for the advice.
@@Robinator202 Just a question. Are you using a stock i6 transmitter or 1 that has been "updated" with hacked firmware? I thought that it was only the i6X that could be switched to output either i-Bus or S-bus as a serial output for the "serial" output pins on the iA6B/iA10B receivers.
I have just installed Kopilot in a Tundra. There is no need to operate the Flaps via the Auxiliary port of Kopilot. You can simply connect the y-cable from your flap servos directly to channel 6 of your receiver. Thus you can use the flaps independently from the Kopilot in all three modes.
About Dual Rates and Expo: I've the same settings for dual rates/expo like you. When I tested the throws on my bench, it hasn't got any changes on the control surfaces. I switched in manual mode and turned dual rates on. The question is, is it normal? So is it only noticeable in flight?? Another question is, how do you start your planes? Like in manual mode with low rates, then you switch in stabilizied mode and switch to high rates? I love your videos! Cheers
Cant use rates and expo with the Kopilot (in stab and RTH modes) I'm being a bit tricky by only having reduced rates on the same switch position as Manual mode. That's the only way it can work.
@@wumnet3183 Oh yes sorry, wrong flight controller. Switch to low rate only when in Manual mode, and you do need a separate rate switch with FlySKY i6 radio. I usually use the launch assist mode or manual to start off.

Hi Andrew, have you ever tried to install the co-pilot on a twin motor plane? I am using PWM and have a Y cable to the two esc's connected to the throttle port on the co-pilot. I have disconnected one of the positive wires as one 5v line should be ok. This setup works fine directly connected to the receiver but when I connect it to the co-pilot only one motor spins up. Any ideas would be welcome :) Regards, Pete
Hi Andrew, I was going through this setup and a peculiar thing occurred. The Drift came with a bridle/tee connector for the 2 aileron plugs, which I connected, black to black etc and plugged into the Kopilot. When I powered up, I got a whiff of something hot. It was the stbd aileron servo getting real hot but not the port side. It’s set for T tail and as your setup but only the motor responds, no elevator and yes gps is up. I did plug just the port aileron in but it didn’t respond either. Question, is it cooked and why?
Need to test the servos individually with a servo tester or plugged straight into a receiver to see if they are fried. Could have been a bad servo or too much voltage somehow. I guess if you plugged the PWM signal cable into the +5V pins it could fry something.
Thanks, I connected as per your tutorial and the supplied zohd paper work. The big plug horizon and the plug, vertical at the end of the big plug. The servo got hot when connected to the battery, no activation from tx. Yes I’ve ordered a servo tester and are trying to get a reply from Zohd. All a little disappointing.

Andrew, Disregard.I'm an idiot. Im proud of myself for figuring it out..lol
Keep up the good work mate.
Not an idiot. Clever for working it out. What was the solution?
Hi Andrew thanks this is very helpful…but, I followed exactly but can’t get past the Tx beeping that the receiver battery is flat! I’m using the IA6b receiver and it displays the Rx is only getting 3.3v ( Battery is 8.2v)
Is this 3.3v a mode of the ESC?
Okay solved it. I had the PWM cable plugged into the settings port.
Aha! That would do it. Glad it's sorted
Hi Andrew!
Can I remove the setup board after finishing the flight controller setup? At what point should this be done?
Yes, remove it when it's all working properly.
@@AndrewNewton Please clarify the procedure! After finishing the settings, to save:
1. Removing the board.
2. Disconnect the battery.
or:

Counter intuitive but that is the ONLY way to save settings changes!
How are you powering your AIO fpv camera with the kopilot lite

One more question: does this system provide any telemetry data (ie. Direction facing, bank, height, or other)
No, simple stabilisation and RTH
Is it possible to extend the antenna of the Flysky FS-i6 receiver?
I'm considering where to place it on my Zohd Talon Evo.
Thank you for the instruction. I'm going to get a drift with kopiolt.
My questions are one, what's the range of kopiolt with the flysky fs i6. 2ed what is a good osd I can add to this? Is it possible? Thank you wade Dittus American in the Philippines
FlySKY FS-i6 range is close to 2km. Kopilot does not support OSD
Hi Andrew when setting RTH mode with the screwdriver clockwise both ailerons should wiggle and the elevator should rise or am I in fence mode ?
It will wiggle with both I suspect but I never use fence mode.
@@AndrewNewton Nope. Fence mode operates the same as Stabilized mode inside the set fence radius. It should also give Up Elevator at start off to try to get to the 35m floor of the allowed Fence Cylinder. (Have to check that 1.)
Andrew it may be a lame idea, have you considered perfecting paper plane construction? Could be a good stage 4 lockdown project?
Ever since Engineering lectures back in 1977. Might have to revisit designs
@@AndrewNewton : Fuck!! Your Old Mate;;;
@@The_Pub_ Haha, thanks for reminding me
I'd like to point out something that happened to me when I setup the Kopilot Lite on the Dart 250g. I was looking at the Dart 250g user guide and the picture on there is looking from the BOTTOM of the wing. So it looked like AIL channel was on the right wing and ELE channel was the left wing. So this worked I was able to set this up and get the correct movement to counteract roll and pitch in stabilized mode. BUT once I removed the setup control pad, those reversed which would be a guaranteed crash! So make sure AIL channel is on the LEFT wing and ELE channel is on the RIGHT wing for any wing setup.
Thanks Wes. Important information
hey andrew, great vid...i have a question, so i purchased the zhod drift, fs-i6x, and the fs-ia6b reciever, and kopilot light. i plugged everything in and the reciever wont power on and the plane just beeps. this is my first plane and i need help. please reply ASAP
Forget the Kopilot for the moment. Learn the basics first, like how to bind the receiver and use the radio
@@AndrewNewton ok, what 1s lipo should i use to bind them
send link if possible
@@AndrewNewton since the led doesnt light up when i connect the reciever, do i have to link it wiht the controller first for it to light up?
Will the zohd pilot work with the ranger 2000 with flaps? Do flaps get transferred to channel 6? Thank you in advance.
Ch6 is only available with SBUS connection. You can just plug the flaps into Ch6 directly on the receiver
If you mean Ch 6 then that only works with SBUS receiver connection
Would FS-iA6B receiver work for this airplane? Not sure the difference between iA6 and iA6B.
Yes the iA6B is just an iA6 with hard case, iBus and telemetry capability as well as the normal PWM servo outputs
Is it normal for channel 4 to activate the elevator. I'm using the flysky i6 transmitter but cant find a setting to turn the this channel off
Ch 4 is fixed as the rudder stick on my FS-i6
About Dual Rates and Expo: I've the same settings for dual rates/expo like you.
@@AndrewNewton So it does only work with the same switch? I thought it would work with a seperate switch, like shown in this video?
@@wumnet3183 Oh yes sorry, wrong flight controller. Switch to low rate only when in Manual mode, and you do need a separate rate switch with FlySKY i6 radio. I usually use the launch assist mode or manual to start off.
@@AndrewNewton Thanks :)
Andrew I'm convinved your psychic. I WAS JUST THINKING ABOUT THIS THIS MORNING!!! Would this apply to the NANO talon too???
Yes, just have to chose V-Tail plane type
Hi M. Newton, I’m flying my sonic modell for few weeks now, and i’m getting better thanks to your advises. I was wondering if it’s normal that my arwing is moving left and wright when flying. I don’t fly fast so maybe it doesn’t help my stability, maybe to windy or is it something I can fix with my kopilot. Thank you again and have a nice day.
Most wings waggle a bit so it could be normal. Kopilot wouldn't help with side to side waggle
Thank you M. Newton for taking the times once more to help me, have a nice day.
Hi Andrew, just one question. If you are flying in stabilised or manual mode and you lose the link does it automatically go into return to home mode, or does that only work if you fly solely in RTH mode? Regards Chris
If you set it up properly it will switch to RTH from any mode when RC link is lost.
Hi Andrew! How are you? I have a flysky TH9X and I can setup the radio with plane. Can you help me please?

Hi Andrew, have you ever tried to install the co-pilot on a twin motor plane? I am using PWM and have a Y cable to the two esc's connected to the throttle port on the co-pilot. I have disconnected one of the positive wires as one 5v line should be ok. This setup works fine directly connected to the receiver but when I connect it to the co-pilot only one motor spins up. Any ideas would be welcome :) Regards, Pete
Should work as is. Correct polarity in the Y Lead?
Hi Andrew, I was going through this setup and a peculiar thing occurred. The Drift came with a bridle/tee connector for the 2 aileron plugs, which I connected, black to black etc and plugged into the Kopilot. When I powered up, I got a whiff of something hot. It was the stbd aileron servo getting real hot but not the port side. It’s set for T tail and as your setup but only the motor responds, no elevator and yes gps is up. I did plug just the port aileron in but it didn’t respond either. Question, is it cooked and why?
Correction gps not lit, only led 2, t tail and the small square red led lit and steady. I’ve also sent a cry for help to Zohd
@@warwickprice7218 Leave your set-up EXACTLY as it is/was when the problem occurred. (Minus the battery of course!) Take high definition photos from several angles with good lighting and post the results on the RCGroups Forums discussion thread on the Kopilot Lite. While waiting for replies there you might like to read Post 2424 on that thread.
I should add that yours is the first instance I've heard of where plugging things in wrong with the Kopilot set-up has fried anything. (We've done it too many times to count - no dead ones yet!) 🙄
Reversed supply voltage somewhere or a faulty servo seem the most likely candidates.
Hey Andrew, I just discovered your channel, I'm new at RC and liked your style. I watched everyone and listened to most and just pressed BUY on this exact setup. But I may have stuffed up my order, somewhere I read that this battery would fit "ZOHD LIONPACK 7.4V 2S1P 3500mAh 18650 Li-ion Lipo Battery". So I bought it, I'm pretty sure it was on the Zohd website that said it was OK. What do you think? Jim From Brisbane.
Perfect battery for it.
Hello, I use the same transmitter and flight controller but with an FS A8S (Sbus) receiver, it does Bind but does not respond to commands, would it be a solution to use a PWM receiver?
Do you have to choose SBUS in the receiver setup? Should work if it is actually outputting SBUS. But you could change to a PWM receiver..
@@AndrewNewton what's the width of the wings? (Not wing span, not thickness)
@@AndrewNewton thanks!
@@AndrewNewton Yep, you have to switch the A8S to S-bus after you bind it. Default it outputs i-Bus and PPM only.
Hi M. Newton, I was wondering in stabilizer mode my ailerons and elevator have a really short travel. When I put it in manuel mode, everything is normal. Is it the way it should be ? I found it weird that I don't have a larger possibility with my aileron and elevator. Thank you and have a nice day.
That's normal. I thought I explained that in the video.

Hi, I was wondering also if I can modifie the elevator and aileron on my controller if I’m using the regular mode with zohd kopilot, that way if I cannot modifie the elevation when launching if I give less movement to my elevator and aileron it will help me if I launch au regular mode. Hi M. Newton, I was looking around to see people launching with kopilot a sonic model, because i have some problem with auto launch when I'm trowing the fixwing, so I have to start my flying on stabilizer mode. But I saw on youtube someone that mirror channel 3 to channel 6 and was able to control the throttle on RTH mode. What do you think of that solution and can it be done on a Flysky controller. Thank you and have a nice day.
I would think it's too dangerous to have throttle on a switch
@@AndrewNewton Hi M. Newton, I think it was to control the motor on rth like when you use the stabilizer mode. Hi Andrew. A question for you on GPS's, the ZHOD kopilot GPS is a Beitian BN-220 , Will any BN-220 work with it or does the number under the barcode need to match. Hi there Andrew, thanks for the video.
I got 2 kopilots and a flysky fs isx with recievers.
Am having the same issue with both of my 2 kopilots:
When in gyro mode ,with throttle on(motor spinning) , after i move the sticks , control surfaces wont go back to neutral position ; as if i added new trims…
Control surfaces go to neutral position only when i cut the throttle.
Its like as if putting the throttle on in gyro mode, gives the kopilot a new neutral position.
Any ideas?
Did have the same issue?
Thanks
Depends which mode you're in, and odd things happen on the bench. Do they fly OK?
@@AndrewNewton good question;
Actually only one of them does..
The other one has a scary tendency to change level position mid flight…
(If i release the sicks it goes nose down) but after a slight input, the level position becomes “normal” again(when i release the the sticks).
So you could say that am having some scary flights with that kopilot, and its not trust worthy…
Hi Andrew, I have a slight dilemma(being a newbie)with my drift with kopilot and Fpv. I’m intending to use a fs-ia6b rx, which requires 4-8v and I’m using 3s batts. How do I acquire the required voltage to feed the rx and I assume onto kopilot. Thanks in advance, Wazza.
The ESC has a voltage regulator (BEC) built in. It reduces the battery voltage down to 5V to power the Kopilot, receiver and servos. It's the red wire in the servo style cable coming from the ESC
