Howdy, You can view/purchase the ZOHD Drift here : bit.ly/3cVDylf .There is some background noise in this video due to a busy road being a few metres away, however being able to use this site to get the maiden of the Drift out to you on video ASAP was more important. I'm sure you appreciate that. Matt 👍
I'm flying my drift with no flight controller, fly's nice and straight when gliding but when you give it throttle it pulls to the left, does the motor need shimming to one side?
I bought one of these and I’m also a newbie to planes. Thanks SOOO much for the heads up re the level of difficulty flying it ! I’ll make sure I go for a SkySurfer or Bixler first. Thanks for the other tips also.
a pretty loud sport or field close to the highway ... even though everything is so green. Nice plane. Finally my Radiomaster arrived today ... so I can finally start my adventures. As being said previously that is not my plane cause it is far too delicate for my experience or missing experience. But I like the style of the plance even though the wings feel to small and too thin. But that is just my opinion cause my nano talon evo had needed a lot of evolution to get where it is ... so I might be waiting for the Drift XL Plus ... lot of - stunning - work so Thanks
Hi: am I correct to think that Kopilot is for short range with feature of RTH when signal is lost . . . but iNAV has GPS that can be programmed to go go go far on an autonomous mission? Is that the difference? So, if I want to program a long range autonomous mission, I need either iNav. No? thx.
Hi Matt Can you advise as to what the best laminate (clear), easy to use is as half the stuff that I have used is junk, will not adhere properly or will Not last once it has been wet!! Cheers
It would be great if ZOHD would make a nice sub250g craft like this one that would include the weight of DJI FPV like the CADDX Vista. So 20g or so less.
I must say again how lucky you are that your wife is with you on this hobby. My wife beats me with the broom whenever she finds that I’ve been flying. I guess she is terribly jealous.
How do you compare this with the mini skywalker? From the outside it seems more tame and maybe a little boring bt would love to hear your opinion. Thank you.
You could squeeze a Dart alongside the Drift into that size rucksack 😆 This does look like a fab airframe despite what appears to be classic Zohd marshmallow foam.
Mat, When you built the Drift did you notice the tail is out of alignment ? I just built mine, the tail assembly collar lock locks the tail section 3 degrees out of alignment. I wonder if I can heat the glue on the collar and twist it or do I have to break it, 3d print a new one and glue it on place ?
The ranger, I'm not sure it would take the same amount of abuse as the Box or AXN to be honest. However it's higher winged and the motor is at the back, so might take a good few smacks in the ground before breaking. Matt
@@RagTheNutsOff yea bro! Your efforts show! Really glad to see you back in action furthermore. Certainly was bummed when you took your FPV sabbatical 💔. Glad it wasn't permanent. And hey, there's always Stand Up Comedy... You'd kill it man! Funny as hell when you want to be 👍. Oh, it was you that taught me how to laminate worth a damn! Mucho Preeesh!
Howdy Benson, the VTx doesn't take that much power to be fair. Also after this video I changed to iNav and 18650 batteries which give me 3500mAh 2S, so that's about a day in the sky 😁
Fraser, more stable. Obviously as shown in the follow up video it will get thrown around by a cross wind, besides that pretty smooth and no rocking like the V1 NT had. Matt
@@RagTheNutsOff Thanks, looking for a little fpv plane I can easily pack in a suitcase to take on holiday. The wind is often strong at the seaside though so some decent stability is a must.
@@RagTheNutsOff: Banggood reckon if you have the FPV version and a 900mAh 2s or 800mAh 3s it'll be sub 250gram. No worries, I've got one coming, so I'll check the weight with different battery's. Good to see your back! 👍😀.
Howdy DB, the model fits a specific area of light, small and glider that's not covered well at all, hence that's why you're seeing the enthusiasm for it. For me I want something like this for ultra light FPV, which it's just been converted to be last night. Hope that makes sense. And also of you want to follow the money in RC/RUclips, watch the video J did on affiliate marketing and YoUtjbe in this channel a few years back. Matt

What a lovely little plane, got lots of potential, nice addition to the NT, zohd is still going strong! Nice vid Matt!
Thank you Onno

I am glad you chose the least noisy environment for your recording
I know, dam other people & the weather!
Some flying skills were shown. What's the laminate of choice to reinforce foam?
Hey Adriano, thank you. For the lam, see the series I did on laminating RC models a few years back, Still using the same stuff. Matt
Nice matt, also nice to see you back doing what you are so good at. 👍
Good video Math, did not realize the ZOHD is so small, perfect for hiking👍
Hey Sky, oh goodness me yea. A little fragile, but would be fine in a loose bag. Matt
Hi Matt, i see the exercise has paid off. Very quick you ran over to retrieve your model from the middle of the field. ;-)
Hahahah turbo speed too :)
How do you think it would do for long range?
This might be the Goldilocks zone. Larger than a UMX Radian but smaller than a Phoenix glider. Both great planes.
Happy days indeed Matt, bet it was a late one last night getting the Drift and Drak ready .
Hola, yea very late for me (11pm) and up at 02:30. Worth it though, the Drift was amazing. Matt

I think to make it lighter one would need alien tech.

Great Video! Please do a video on the inav tune you put in it. I got one coming in the mail. 🙂
JD!
Is the cv set for the fpv and kopilot ?
You could squeeze a Dart alongside the Drift into that size rucksack 😆

Morning, that foam doesn't seem as bad. The fuse is pretty tough stuff. Matt

Hey Jerry, mine was straight. However ai have seen others whose are out of alignment. Not sure on the best fix to be honest Jerry. Matt
Bixler 2 or Volantex Ranger 2000 for which on would be better for a Newbee!
I started with the bixler 2 but I have not flown the ranger before.
@@benemdav I would but everytime I get ready to drop the cash to grab everything....OUT OF Stock!
OH Snap it in Stock....Purchased!!!!!
I'll wait for them to ship it from Hong Kong

What thickness was the laminate covering?
The overtime is appreciated!
Thanks Doug, that was a crazy day yesterday. Two videos to be edited, a full size Drak to finish and I added inav to this one too. Matt

Do you think the CG is off because they designed it to have the fpv Tx and camera in front?
Hey Grant, nope. The CG balance point is to the model as a whole. It just needs to come forwards a bit to behave. Matt
With such a small battery does using the video transmitter shorten the flight time significantly?

Thanks 👍

Is there a danger of bubbling the EPP when applying laminate film?
Hey Mike, yes if you apply too much heat. Just go steady, there is no rush when laminating ;) Matt
Can't wait to see Inav + FC inside its guts.. and hit further range.. 👌😁
Done and that's today :)
Factory photos show no downswept tips (they're straight). Maybe yours is warped out of the box or during laminating.
Howdy, nope they're supposed to be like that. See the others out there, they're the same. Matt
@@RagTheNutsOff Thanks, Matt! You da man :)

I hope ZOHD sell a lot of Drifts they'll need to with the number they've sent out for free - the world and his dog have done reveiws.
Hi Richard. Indeed. Good job I bought mine, just like every single other model shown here. Matt
Why is this model being pushed on so many channels? It's more of a toy. Are there any special commissions for this?
