Stay out of his bedroom gosh you’re the crazy ones spend it on someone who actually sa’d a girl
SK's justice system is just...you can't even call it a justice system. It blames the victims rather than keeping the perpetrators accountable, in most cases, and god forbid you're a woman trying to make a point because you will never win. I remember doing research on their government and stuff for a project, and it's just vile. I know this isn't directly related, but I think their societal structure (supported by their anti-feminist government, their "injustice" system, extreme social hierarchies, seemingly lack of empathy in general) is what contributes to horrifying behaviour like this. And it will only get worse as things like this keep happening.
I think SM is deleting videos talking about it. I swear a few days ago there were a bunch of other channels talking about it and now when I search it up I don't find them
This is especially horrifying because bullying like this in the past has legit caused idols to commit suicide. It’s almost like they forget these are real people with real lives.
Also to add on I’m no longer a kpop fan but I do definitely remember instances in the past where SM’s other talents were being harassed and they did absolutely nothing. It’s not uncommon for them.
the toxic fans are writing curses on his photo/ making cursed talismans saying they hope he dies, some of them even say they'll kill him themselves I honestly don't understand how this is legal
@@peachy.-sky4640SM Ent has a group that debuted circa 2020 called aespa (not sure how long ago u stopped paying attention lol) and one of the members, Karina, had to release an official public apology after it was revealed she was in a relationship at about 24 years old. this was all in the same year as Seunghan. SM Ent is one of the worst.
I saw a tweet from a korean fan, and it said, 'you either become an idol or have a personal life. Don't have both. It's that simple.' This level of madness is diabolical.
The companies established this parasocial arrangement. Fans make an idol rich and famous, and in exchange he/she must give up or hide his/her private life.
some more important context: the group was also being positioned as a “global” kpop group and had done a lot of western and international promotional activities, so they have a large international audience. most of the “fans” who organized the wreaths were actually korean and chinese. A majority of the international fans supported him coming back. SM kicking him out was a slap in the face to international fans because it shows whose opinions they ACTUALLY care about at the end of the day. KPop companies have been chasing western acclaim and the global kpop audience, without actually valuing them. It’s so disheartening.
No exactly this. I've also seen this with Enhypen how a lot of the comments on their videos surrounding a specific topic are emphasizing how the K-engenes are pretty shit and is why Enhypen seems to give more love to the international audience. Like when Bite Me was released and all the K-engenes bought trucks to ban the female dancers from performing with them but the I-engenes thought it was so fucked up how they took out a big part of their dance just because of jealousy. Obviously Enhypen isn't SM but it still shows how much K (and J/C) fans can have control over the groups.
Karina from Aespa (another SM idol) also had to publicly APOLOGISE for having a boyfirend. The way this company let crazy fans bully their artists is so disgusting.
@@amandarachlee the wildest thing is that even though the majority of seunghan antis are korean, there's still a big amount of korean fans that are actually supporting him and protesting against SM, the whole thing is super fucked up cause a portion of the ot6ers are also chinese, vietnamese and from other asian countries, but they're still a minority compared to the amount of people supporting seunghan, so SM listening to that minority initiated a lot of xenophobic, racist and misogynistic comments from i-fans towards korean and asian woman in general, and some of them were so horrible to the point they made seunghan gain more haters. i believe those people are no better than the ones hating and sending funeral wreaths, and those bullies are a huge part of the issues inside the kpop community, however it's wild to realize how all of this could've been avoided if SM did their job from the beginning
it wasn’t to his company, (unless you mean location) it was to HIM. those wreaths were to deter HIM. to frighten and send death threats to HIM. it’s horrific. their aim was to frighten and threaten him into leaving the group.
@@shsharding44 it’s not a competition! bad things can happen and invalidating something that is objectively horrific and evil as “nothing” does nothing to validate your cause. just because something bad happened to block b, it doesn’t make seunghan’s situation isn’t any less evil. idols as a whole are dehumanised and bullied and are as a whole neglected and exploited by their company, and turning this INDUSTRY-WIDE issue into fan wars is idiotic. as a whole, if ANY kpop stan wants to see their favs be treated humanely and have actual rights and be respected, we need to stop with the diminutive comparisons and focus on recognising the actual issues: kpop company’s. (and how they enable toxic behaviour towards their groups and idols)
YOURE SO RIGHT…. i never thought about this and now that i think about it this idea is horrifying…. considering crazy fans have literally tried to assassinatè idols before there’s no telling on what they’re planning now
it’s not that they haven’t realized, they already have. the people that sent these wreaths are generational sasaengs that have been emboldened because sm entertainment refuses to put their foot down.
What's even worse here is SM entertainment HAS lost talented idols in tragic circumstances before, so they know what kind of drastic measures an idol might take and how they might be pushed over the edge, its sickening.
exactly my point and exactly why everyone is so angry rn. they’ve lost so many artists to suicide due to bullying within their fandoms and they continue to ignore it and let ppl bash their artists for no reason. no wonder so many ppl r leaving that shitty company.
RIP Jonghyun and Sulli But I do wonder what more can SM do? They can't necessarily stop online bashing without a legal intervention, which is super challenging to go through with it. Don't get me wrong, they are a nasty company. But the way fans over there are acting goes beyond SM.
kpop stan here! what truly makes this story absolutely insane is the fact that seunghan was added back to the group BECAUSE the other members wanted him back so bad. apparently, he was ready to leave as soon as the scandal happened but THEY are the ones who rly wanted him to stay. therefore, by doing this, these “fans” directly went against what the members they claim to love wanted. you can see how upset the members are bc they’re avoiding fans at the airport by taking alternative exits and having the fakest smiles you’ve ever seen. the worst part is, these fans act as if nothing happened. they’re commenting on the members’ clothes and saying how cute they look. absolutely fucking deranged
imagine if LE SSERAFIM was like this with GARAM. these guys are the real MVPS for doing this with Seunghan I wish more groups added back their fired members over false rumors and fake krap this is why I will never love or respect groups like LE SSERAFIM or AOA or G-IDLE

Fun fact 3 of the women sending the funeral flowers are 57 , 42 and 39. LIKE THESE ARE GROWN PEOPLE. It's insane they need to check get their brain checkes. Ruining his dream like you had a chance at 57 with A 19 YEAR OLD, the delusion is insane they are so dumb and the agency as well
Is it confirmed that these old women sent the wreaths? I mean it's possible that teenagers used their parents name or their cards for the wreath expenses.
The Korean authorities should check these women’s hard drives. They should NOT be into a teenage boy like that. Creepy doesn’t even begin to describe it
The fact that sending funeral flowers to a person who’s alive is ‘illegal’ in SK & SM could’ve sued the people who did that but chose not to, while Seunghan went down to see all the flowers & cried for hours because he had trained hard for the comeback is disturbingly sad.
I don't think it's illegal if the purpose is to protest. In fact, it's illegal to remove protest wreaths that's why fans of another idol who's also having wreaths sent in protest of his presence in his group could not legally remove the wreaths
@@thesheassheisOh, I know the group you’re talking about. I came across videos that said there are actually laws for it. Regardless, SM should’ve taken some action 😓
not to mention seunghan had trained to become an idol FOR 7 YEARS since he was 14 they made him waste all his youth away for nothing. i hope for him to have a brighter future in whatever way it may come.
Yeah that is cool, it would help If RIIZE was more popular international than domestically to begin with, and if the crazy bitches won't buy albums like crazy right to prove they are right (they are not)
Those Chinese and Korean OT6 fans must be rich and giving SM money or something, I can't understand why SM would be still removing Seunghan after all the backlash and boycotting that's happening...
sending funeral wreaths for someone who isnt dead is definitely a threat! and the fact that seunghan was allegedly seen looking at them is so heartbreaking :(
some of the people who sent wreaths literally said things like "i hope you never have anything good on this earth" or "it doesn't matter if you die just dont mess with the rest of the group" so like they WERE threats
They definetly were threats. Cause the people organising them had posted on twitter about how they hoped he'd off himself after seeing them, or how they don't care if he has to die for it as long as the other 6 members can keep their career without him. They wanted him gone no matter what the cost
Context is also really important when discussing this. SM ent has a large history of mistreating their artists. A member of the group Girls Generation was dropped for seemingly no reason. Not only this but two artists under SM have committed suicide.
@@xmiunax4385 I still think the way fans behave in kpop stan culture is rooted in how companies commodify idols. Like, the kpop industry as a while is rooted in creating this intense "connection" between fans and artists that ends up making people obsessive - and record labels prey on that obsession because it gets them higher sales. It's like a cycle they feed into Not allowing idols to date is a part of feeding that cycle, imo. Selling a fantasy in that way only deepens their perceived bond - and makes them go insane when stuff like this happens
yes sm is horrible but jonghyun and sully did not commit s*icide because of sm's mistreatment. dont bring them up if you dont even know what you're talking about.
@@loureedpipesAbsolutely, the company truly has no regard for them as artists. They actively create, and endorse that toxic parasocial bond, in order to maximize their profits - at the expense of the artists.
another fact i’d bring up tbh is they officially kicked him from the group when the rest of the group was in spain, away from the company and country. the group had been so excited about his return, but the company went behind their own artists backs.
to note: SM has been known to isolate their artists, especially during contract renewals. They would often gaslight other members (usually top/famous members) to make concessions for the other members of the group.

He spent seven years, basically his entire teenage life training just for all of it to be taken away in 2 months because he dared to kiss a girl… his friends also said he trained every single day of those 10 months awaiting his return, that doesn’t sound like someone that wanted to leave or to hurt his group. Also I never thought I’d see D’Angelo talking about this, I am pleasantly surprised. Seunghan’s supporters are doing such a good job bringing attention to this.
A ton of kpop stores and distributors for kpop albums have announced they will no longer buy any more Riize albums due to this fucked up situation. It is widespread throughout the world. Even the biggest K-pop merch distributors have announced they will not support these actions. This is the biggest boycott I have ever really seen and how fast everyone mobilized to take action.
@@yeahyeah3013 I would say it's pretty similar. In both situations, the companies completely threw their artists under the bus. SM has a track record of throwing their artists under the bus to appease "fans," this was just the breaking point for a lot of us.
No hate to Renjun, but he was in the wrong in that situation he apologized for. The police ended up going through the phone of the person whose number he leaked and they didn’t find anything. Even if the person had deleted it the police still would’ve been able to trace it. I can understand Renjun’s reasoning behind it because I’m sure anybody would get fed up of having their privacy invaded, but he took his anger out on the wrong person. SM is still at fault as well because they should’ve took his concerns seriously the first time he threatened to do it and got him help.
This!! Renjun said that even during his mental health hiatus people continued following him. He would get on planes and see the same faces. People will purposely pay to get seats next to him/the group and then deny it when he confronts them to their face. He has tried to bring up stalking issues to the company and they say there's nothing that can be done. He put out warnings saying that if you call his number he WILL share it and when he finally did, was forced to apologize. Its maddening.

i think you did great covering the situation! one tiny thing, though, that i think is important to mention, when SM released the final statement that seunghan was actually leaving, the other members were away in another country performing. so he had no support, he had to face ppl wishing him evil (and company staff probably putting blame on him) all alone. that statement was release WHILE other members were on a plane back home. once they got to south korea, you could tell they had NOT been part of the conversation. they all hid their faces from fans and reporters who were there once they arrived. not even a fan of riize but my god BRING THE KID BACK !!
wtf thats just vile.. im not a fan either and just heard of this but this just makes me want to support Seunghan, its insane to me that we're the same age (well born in 2003), i couldn't imagine going thru this
Bumping this part, because that extra part about the members not aware of him leaving two days after they were all aware and agreed he’d come back is so upsetting. Adds an extra layer of frustration.
This!! Also at the airport in China, OT6 fans mobbed Riize and were holding "Riize is 6" signs!!! Also they were getting so bad that security literally had to restrain them
And like aren't funeral death wreaths expensive as FUCK??? And they sent a thousand of them outside a company to bully a 21 year old for having a life??? and people are celebrating and dancing infront of it the disconnect to reality is INSANE and SM (the company) barely did anything about it? Edit: Someone said the number of wreaths were around 200 WHICH IS STILL A CRAZY AMOUNT???😭
The sad thing is: they were a loud minority and in fact only around 200 wreaths were sent. The media reported it as 1k wreaths - we've tried correcting it several times but they never responded. Also they have never once written about our efforts for the past ten months. Almost all of the Korean media outlets reported the protest in a positive light. That's when we realised that SM had a hand in this.
Perhaps I read too many Korean comics, but this funeral wreath thing seems too personal to be 200 different people. I know people get obsessive and do crazier, but this seems just a tad bit like 1 person who was rejected to rebuffed and wanted to ruin this young man's life. Then again, I know nothing about K-pop. I just read way too many webcomics lol
I’m honestly so worried about him, I hope he has good support behind the scenes & especially great professional help to cope with this level of harassment. It must be nothing short of traumatising and I hope he gets through it without harming himself. What SM did here is unforgivable.
i hope so too because going through the trainee process AND debuting is no joke and to have it all ruined because of some crap you did years ago, literal regular person stuff, and having to leave the WHOLE industry? it's going to be devastating. fuck those "fans" thoroughly. worried for the rest of the members as well

the scariest thing is that sulli took her own life after experiencing the same cyber bullying seunghan had experienced while under SM Ent just like seunghan, and SM Ent did nothing to protect sulli until she also left her group. that company truly does not care about its idols. but im not surprised as they are the same company that introduced s l a v e contracts to kpop

How insane it looks? Dude that comment itself is wildly disconnected from reality. It IS insane, unacceptable, abusive behaviour. It always has been and always will be. Its normalization inside a community doesn’t change the reality of the situation.
i’ll add that the members themselves strongly supported seunghan’s return and wonbin’s statement hints that they literally fought for him to stay. they’ve even recently been spotted at fan meetings holding up 7 fingers to show support. so yeah, this decision was literally only good for the very small group of predominantly korean and chinese fans that for some reason have power over 99% of the global fanbase that are actually sane. and sm clearly doesn’t care ab their artists interests or protecting them. RIIZE IS 7
this is truly what kills me about this: imagine ur friend going thru all this bc of ur own fans...i wouldnt know how to cope and the fact that there is a high possibilty seunghan's departure was finalized while the members were on an intercontinental flight - i feel sick just thinking about it
Literally nobody in RIIZE wanted seunghan to leave, Seunghan didn’t even want to leave according to his non-idol friends, 99.99999% of fans don’t want him to leave, nobody on earth wants him to leave the group. Only a handful of insane fans and most importantly, SM Staff, want him to leave, and that makes this a 100% workplace bullying incident, since he did nothing to warrant their hatred
As a K-pop stan : THANK YOU DANGELLO FOR TALKING ABOUT IT. This situation is actually so bad and this is setting a precedent in K-pop because 3 more people have received those flowers. Flowers that are protected by the police actually. Those wreaths are being all over south Korea and the bullying is protected. I fear that now crazy fans will feel entitled because now they know they have true power over K-pop groups And the media coverage is bad because of the agency. They have an insane power over media in Korea, one of their idols is a r*pist and barely anyone talks about it.
I think the actual core of this issue is how in korean society bullying is this extreme and normalised. It affects the people, it affects women’s rights, it affects LGBTQ, it affects anyone who doesn’t meet the insane beauty standard.
Some people can understand a second or third language better than they can write. The message might have been directed to other Japanese speakers. RUclips has the translate button which usually works fine too.
the annoying thing is that this isn't even the most unwarranted apology I've seen an idol make, like remember when Karina had to apologise for dating that actor? its insane. sm stood by her then but probably only because she makes them way more money than seunghan did, but who knows. its so sinister, when the tide of public opinion is so easily swayed by what these companies say and do. they're in charge! if they backed up seunghan, the crazy fans would have shut up after a while.
it may be because, yes she makes them more money, and her fandom is established. by the time the scandal broke out karina had been an idol for 4 years and had a stable solo and group fandom.
You should know that Seunghan ALWAYS said that Riize is his dream, when someone asked him what gift he wants for his birthday, he said that the members are already a gift for him. He loves these boys a lot, so when people and the company were pressuring him, sending the death wreath and death threats, bullying him for 11 months, he left the group ONLY BECAUSE he was worried for the boys and their reputation. He was blaming himself and thought that people will abandon his group, if he stays in it, so he left two days after the company said that he will return to the group. He didn’t want to left, he was forced to do it. He did it for the members. It was really very very stressful days for us, fans, but it’s harder for him, so we keep fighting for him until he gets justice. But I’m his fan since 2022, and since then I’m waiting for him 90% of the time, while others can enjoy their time with their favs. I feel so sad when I see others interacting with their favs, they can see them in real life (concerts, fancons etc), their favs can upload new photos, videos, other artists and members can freely talk about them, and I got NOTHING for these 11 months since he went on hiatus/left. I want to be a normal fan and not fight with a big company and bunch of idiots everyday. Thank you for covering this situation, it means a lot to us. Thank you for your kind words. Seunghan isn’t a bad guy and he doesn’t deserve this, please believe
sm is routinely awful to its artists in so so many ways. horrible, HORRIBLE company that just... refuses to protects its artists against stalkers and death threats. absurd and my heart will always hurt for seunghan and how this entire thing was handled
I'm an Old Hollywood fan, and the way these companies expect K-pop idols to act like celibate ciphers 24/7 is kinda similar to the "moral clauses" in actors' contracts before the studio system did everyone a solid and died in 1954.
@@aribloomfield4527 Googling "Old Hollywood morals clause" (not "moral"-oops) comes up with decent rundowns and how it impacts entertainers to this day. It's not exactly the same as what K-pop idols deal with now, but one could make a decent Venn diagram using both.
We are boycotting (protests in front of sm, no streaming, no voting, unfollowing their socials and trending hashtags on Twitter), we are doing everything we can to bring him back. Thank you for covering the case, we need more people talking about it so SM realizes that they're fucked. The members want him back, the real fans want him back and the whole kpop community want him back... BRING BACK THE SEUNGHAN AAAAAAAAAA‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
0:11 as awful as this whole situation is I disagree with the assessment that the bad guys won and its over. I've never seen basically all kpop fans rally behind someone like this. There's petitions, boycotts, an outpouring of support, even from other fandoms, and a very general consensus online that SM and kpop in general needs to change and that what happened to him is injustice. There is a ray of light. And I don't think this is over. Not for good.
Although it is really very heartwarming to see the kpop fandom unite behind Seunghan… I honestly don’t see SM bring back Seunghan. Also, I don’t think it will be good for Seunghan to rejoin the shitty company~ (Edit) not sure why yt keeps removing my harmless comment but I just wanted to reply to @ZOMB13ROT that I KNOW Seunghan is still contracted with SM~ what I meant was that I don’t think he should return to SM as an active idol. Why should he be with a company who obviously prioritise delusional fans over their own artists mental wellbeing~ 😊
First lemme say ot7 bc this should’ve never been an issue, but I think the way D’Angelo is saying it it’s like a seeing a moment of finality (as in seunghan being removed) after all this uncertainty of his hiatus this is the current result. Not that the book is closed and no one is reading it but rather the end of a chapter, of which sm is unfortunately the writer- hopefully the next chapter being seunghan joining again or at least him being a soloist. Ik he was announced back and that got taken away cruelly after two days, and so he’s trying to get more coverage of this issue and opening the dialogue like *right now the bad guys are unfortunately getting their way* and it’s been a week which is longer than the amt of time his return was announced before retraction. Super important to keep mentioning ways to support and show influence because seunghan deserves a second chance (even though personally I don’t think it was an issue anyways even if he were doing it during the two months he was w/ the other members). For anyone like the person above has included who wants info to share support- it’s all over twitter, insta, TikTok if you search seunghan support/ ot7 riize, there’s links for petitions, donations, writing supportive sweet messages and even just bare minimum boycotting products from sm or at least riize projects.
Don't forget the 50+ international Kpop shops stopping the sales of RIIZE's merchandise and albums in support of the boycott! That and the Billboard article are what I feel is when SM started to really turn the tide on taking the boycott seriously. It's starting to hit their pockets and affect their PR. Even Arirang News in Korea recently just did a segment on the boycott and Seunghan getting kicked out. The more noise this makes, the sooner SM will have to face the music!
I'm glad there's people outside of the kpop bubble calling this out cause regardless of who's into which group it's been such a landmark shit storm that it deserves serious discussion. The people doing tiktok dances in front of the death threat wreaths was legitimately crazy
this whole situation is so unfair for seunghan and the other members, and ultimately the only people who won are the losers who were validated for sending death threats. I'm so sick of sm coming with the "we're gonna do our best to protect our artists" after every instance of not protecting them.
It's honestly even more disgusting than you think. It was literally one thousand funeral wreaths and there were people filming TikTok dances in front of them. Seunghan saw them too, there's a video of him walking by them all and it's heartbreaking. This is coming from me, someone who's not even a RIIZE stan. I keep seeing clips of the other members as well and they are PISSED. They keep flashing 7 fingers or making a 7 with their hands. They even danced in a 7 formation for a song, leaving room for him. They also completely avoided fans trying to meet them at the airport by taking another exit, like they are done with those people.
I heard that Seunghan was seen walking through the wreaths reading the messages before he "decided" to leave. One of the biggest outrages, for me, in this is that people let him. Nobody protected him from delusional hatred left in the streets, I wouldn't want him to have to come back and face not being protected again.
IMAGINE hating on a dude for getting baddies 😭 how do u even call yourself a fan 😭😭 GUYS PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION TO BEING HIM BACK - RIIZE WILL ALWAYS BE SEVEN 🤞🏻🤞🏻
so many kpop fans who dont even stan riize were delighted about him coming back and him leaving was a shock to everyone. at this point it's so much bigger than riize because it sends such a dangerous message to fans of all kinds of groups and their companies that this way of handling things is okay. people who dont even know the group that well are vocal about it not only for seunghan and riize's well-being but for the betterment of the industry as a whole.
The bullying culture in Korea gots to go. It's very common there unfortunately. These idols keep committing suey because of how bad the bullying is, like that is not okay???? AT ALL.
As I K-pop stan myself I think you did a good job and I’m happy that this is getting attention. One thing I would like to mention is the dedication of the international fans, one literally couldnt watch any content related to RIIZE without there being fans spamming “RIIZE is 7” under every social media post or edit. The death wreaths were mostly organized by the Korean obsessed stans thought I saw actual fans of the group sending trucks and flower to the company with messages like “we love seunghan” “we stand with seunghan” so I hope he knows he is loved and that he’s got people rooting for him
ok, as someone who was a casual fan of riize since predebut and was following this situation in real time, you did a pretty good job explaining it. You didn’t mention the boycott though! in addition to the petition (which I know several friends of mine signed more as a gesture of support than actually believing seunghan will come back), fans have called for a boycott of all riize merchandise and streaming. it’s not uncommon for kpop fans to call for boycotts, but THIS time it’s actually being supported by many kpop retailers, specifically international ones. Many stores are saying they won’t be restocking riize albums or merchandise in solidarity with Seunghan and the fan-led boycott. This is a pretty big deal but we’ll see if it actually pushes SM to do anything substantial. It helps that the situation is so clearly wrong that people who have never even listened to riize are speaking out about it and vocally supporting the boycott. (It’s funny you should mention loona at the end of this video because their fans’ organized boycott was part of what let them leave their horrible former company.) bit of extra info, a few days ago there was even a counter-protest where the funeral wreaths used to be in support of Seunghan. I heard about 80 people showed up, but you’ll have to fact check me on that.
There were 95 people by the end of the day. In fact, thousands of people signed up to protest in front of SM (where the wreaths were placed), but the permit only allowed us 50 participants. By the second day, the police, who looked like they were pleased with the peaceful protest, allowed nearby OT7s to finally join the protest. 😊❤️ There were flower bouquets (sunflowers and roses), posters, banners and even an airship!
we honestly just need to take away as much money from sm as possible to get them to actually do something about this. they dont care about their idols, but when the company starts being affected then they care (which is absolutely insane lmao). that being said ive been boycotting all sm groups for the time being, i agree that boycotting riize helps too, but i just think it would be most effective if we all boycott the entire company. which i knowwww is hard for some people especially with aespa having a comeback right now but like i want seunghan back so bad ill do ANYTHING
KPop stans have always talked about this. But this problem is more a Korean culture problem than just KPop. SM failed miserably, but it was only viable because it is culturally acceptable to behave like this. I'm glad these behaviors are being criticized by people other than international KPop fans, so Korean KPop fans can maybe start to reflect on their actions. I am getting a master's degree on international politics studying this, basically, and I hope people understand that the problem is not just the industry, but the whole society.
@@ogabrielalbarabsolutely agree with this. Sure we can talk about it and give our options and criticisms, but as outsiders it is also important to also realize this isn't an easy issue to solve because it involves a country and ingrained pre-existing issues.
I never thought he would talk about seunghan oh my god Edit: finished watching the video (2x speed) and there's a lot you missed (but I don't blame you honestly). For the ten months he was gone, SM edited him out of pictures and videos that clearly had him in it. One of their most famous songs "siren" was re-recorded without seunghan in it. Seunghan's birthday was also shortly before his comeback announcement and there wasn't a post for it (most companies release a birthday post for each member). One of the reasons SM probably wanted him out is that a lot of OT6 stans cancelled massive orders for RIIZE albums. Since seunghan's final departure, most overseas kpop stores refuse to sell RIIZE albums, people are boycotting RIIZE and SM, and some fans have sent actually nice flowers and trucks with nice messages on them to the company. RIIZE is performing in LA sometime soon and some OT6 stans from Korea are planning on getting together and protesting (even though they got what they want?) at the event they are performing at. Most OT7 fans have said that they are dumb as hell because they think they're aren't going to get beat up in LA Also honorable mentions to siren's boycott version "bring back the seunghan" and the person on the chnge petition that said "bring seunghan BAAAAACKKK🗣️🗣️‼️‼️ thank yew❤️✌️" Also about Hyuna and Dawn: they dated for I think five years, proposed, and then Hyuna broke it off because the relationship was moving too quickly. She then got into a relationship with some guy involved in the burning sun scandal and married him in less than a year. Also loona doesn't promote as a group anymore because their company mistreated them. They're now a few separate groups and soloists but still mention loona often
I also think it should be mentioned the funeral wreathes being sent for Suga at BIgHit, that makes it very clear that fans are starting to think they can dogwalk companies because of SM and how this is going to have a big domino effect on the industry.
The man Hyuna married, Yong Jun-Hyung, isn't the one that abused Goo Hara to the point of taking her life. It was Choi Jung Bum. Edit: Yong Jun-Hyung didn't abuse Goo Hara, but he was a bystander in the Burning Sun scandal.
@@crrispychips thank you for pointing that out! There's so much I feel like I miss but also know so I hadn't actually heard that it was a different guy. I removed that part of my comment
@@mdhen01Exactly. That's what we were so adamant about from the very beginning and these ot6 just laughed at us, telling us we were just mad that we "lost". No, you crazy people. SM just set the precedent to form this crazy cycle of accommodating people like you and to openly treat our idols like some product 😭
Man they’d get their asses beat in LA lmfao. They didn’t even have the balls to go in person and protest, they sent wreaths and trucks in their place, I genuinely don’t think they’ll even have the gumption to enter the stadium at that point.
i wasn’t really invested in this since I didn’t know the band before but I recently was near the SM entertainment building and there were protests in support for Seunghan!! ❤ It was really heartwarming to see that there are people being supportive.
Also as a shawol I will never be able to understand how you can treat a band u are apparently a fan of like this. There are sooo many issues in k-pop with Depression and other mental Health issues sometimes ending with the worst possible outcome. Why anybody is contributing to this is beyond me.
Thank you for covering this story 🥹🫶 as someone who’s been a fan of Riize since predebut, this has been an emotional rollercoaster for real fans of the group, and I hope this will help spark a change in the kpop industry as a whole. We’ve seen too many kpop artists’ lives and careers sabotaged by a loud (and wealthy) minority that kpop companies bow down to.
Seunghan never deserved to have been sent on hiatus to begin with. he had a Girlfriend BEFORE he was even an idol trainee. the man just did a normal human thing and now he's being treated with this insanity. I contributed to the airship and the country posters.
Exactly, these idols are not allowed to have relationships or even get married because of the toxic environment these companies have created for them. I still don't forgive fans to this day for what they did to Monsta Xs Wonho and heck even Super Junior's Sungmin
not to mention it was majority domestic fans that had a problem… the entire global community wanted him back. like wtf? idk promoting them as a global group and not listening to those people as well is insane to me… kinghan come back pls 😭😭😭
Just want to note that Hyuna and E'dawn have been broken up and Hyuna recently married a man that was of involved in a s3x scandal. He didn't participate in hurting victims, but he received videos and didn't notify police.
In relation to THIS story though, is it relevant? "Fans" were irate as soon as the dating "scandal" broke, years before their break up and Hyuna's eventual marriage.
@ms_triv i mentioned it because there's a moment where D'Angelo brings up hyuna's dating scandal with e'dawn and mentions how she was supported by fans then. I just wanted to add she's has long since broke up with him. people not within the kpop circles probably don't know about any of this, so why not just give an extra tidbit of information?
@crrispychips I understand there is more to the whole relationship timeline, and can appreciate you wanting to give a complete picture. I just dont think it adds anything to this topic in particular. Dawn had to leave his group. People said horrendous things about Hyuna. Yes, there was some support, but there was also overwhelming hate, or if we're calling it what it truly is, jealousy. Those details contribute directly to this conversation. What happened afterward, while absolutely important in the grand scheme, is not relevant to the focus here.
I’m so glad this story has spread so far out of the kpop world. It’s so saddening that this even happens and I’m truly hoping that this helps change the idol industry especially since they keep pushing for global recognition but refuse to modernize their “morals”
D’Angelo, nice work on this. Your shedding a light for audiences outside of K-pop is HUGE. I’d like to ask that you take a deeper dive into this world with a focus on the fandoms’ history and how the entertainment companies helped foster this toxic environment for profit. You’re a phenomenal storyteller and your coverage could inform more people and actually help make a difference. 🙏🏾
THANK YOU FOR TALKING ABT THIS !!!!! I have cried everyday since the announcement Seunghan has suffered so much and he deserves an apology and it’s so sad as a Briize I’m suffering so much but it also makes me so happy to see other non-briize and even non-kpop fans to talk abt it bc more people should know !! It’s not right and Seunghan deserves better SM really failed him
The fact that he felt the need to apologize for absolutely nothing is monumentally just...dumb. the kpop fandom started getting on my nerves as a former listener. I can only imagine how torn these artists feel doing something they love for a group of people who, at the core, have no appreciation for the craft and talent, but only seek to control and possess the artists as much as possible.
Honestly this is genuinely such an overblown situation, imagine caring this much about someone’s life outside of their work. SM putting him on a hiatus for this long made it even worse. Hope he’s doing better, honestly this must be so mentally draining.
The only reason why those ot6 rats cared so much about seunghans life is because they probaly thought seunghan was theirs but now they can no longer fulfill there delusions or fantasies of seunghan being with them because seunghan has already dated and smoked he's no longer a saint he's tainted in there eyes he's no longer pure he was suppose to date them first he only belonged to them.. this is what goes on in such ppls heads 🤢🤢🤮🤮these ppl are very disgusting and dirty minded and it's all because of sm and the kpop world..marketing or advertising kpop idols to ppl like there in some sort of parasocial relationship is wrong on so many levels the idols are humans they are not ppls toys they don't belong to anyone...companies marketing idols as such ends up attracting the wrong kind of ppl the delusional kind what's even worse is that instead of catering to the normal fans companies caters towards such delusional ppl the delusional ppl are not even in the majority I don't know why the companies are like this Actually I do have an idea on why there like this it's cuz of greed they cater to such delusional ppl because these delusional ppl are rich asf compared to the other fans so it fills the company pockets with money
Some of them are delusional in another way where they are so jealous to the point that they would want to ruin someone's whole life the fact that they are jealous of not being as successful as seunghan or not being as handsome or pretty as him or not being able to score a boyfriend or girlfriend like seunghan in there teenage years themselves or not being able to score seunghan himself is insane you can get a little bit of jealous but to take get jealous this much or to take your jealousy to whole another level is dangerous even if some of them did it out of jealousy or some of them did it because they can longer have a relationship with seunghan in there minds there's no justification for such behavior and there never will be any justification but these ppl are always justifying there actions which makes me wonder just how messed up are they
@@kpopfan8109 it’s the inevitable when it comes to an industry that relies heavy on parasocial relationships. It’s especially bad because they’re such a loud minority. SM obviously knows this could easily be covered up, but they’d rather make an example out of him for other trainees to stay in line. I feel like it’s a power trip from them. Also the fact that this even got more traction then the taeil thing is insane, people care too damn much about the wrong things.
Thank you for covering this. As another person commented, they were marketed as a global group. International fans think he did nothing wrong and certainly not enough to warrant a hiatus or being kicked out of the group. If SM is surprised by the boycott by international fans, then they certainly didn't do their homework on global audiences. I want Seunghan to return to RIIZE but honestly, I'd prefer if another entertainment group buy them out. SM doesn't deserve a global group, especially since they won't protect them. the way idols can't date or do normal things is something that is unfortunately ingrained into the culture. sm entertainment, (the company that riize is under), is notorious for horrible treatment all across the board. I'd say they're one of the worst companies I've seen. they don't even know how to protect their idols correctly, and never have. it goes so deep that one of the idols under their company has been poisoned. tvxq's yunho is his name. he was given a bottle of orange juice that had LITERAL SUPER GLUE IN IT by a sasaeng. (basically a term for a stalker fan) nobody talks about this. the only sad thing is people will label kpop fans as "crazy" just for a section of the fandom which are extremely cultish and treat their idols as little toys. every normal kpop fan acknowledges that any behavior like this of their idols is ridiculous. I'm very glad that dangelo covered this, it deserves to be covered and was done very professionally. riize is always and will always be 7
omg this is a horrifying thing to do to someone! i can't imagine not protecting someone this happened to, like the average random stranger would do more for someone they saw being poisoned than this... edit: i looked it up and he forgave her bc she was young? damn he's much more graceful and forgiving than i would have been! apparently he went through a lot of exposure therapy and is doing much better now. i'm glad he's okay
It's also because SM failed to protect them that we lost two brilliant and talented idols: Jonghyun (SHINee) and Sulli (fx). SM let the online bullying from fans to go on and on and those two gorgeous and pure souls were lost to us because of it. I will never forgive SM. Ever. I really hope Seunghan has good people around him that will help him go through this hard time.
@@kirakoga yes, especially sulli and jonghyun. as a shawol myself, jonghyun was an earth angel. he was truly a gift to this world that some didn't appreciate. he will forever be my ult bias and he means so much to me. his vocals, songwriting, stage presence, and visuals still remain unmatched, and they forever will be. sulli was also incredibly talented and ahead of her time. she was a sweet girl and I hate that the world can be so cruel to such wonderful angels
Another important angle to this conversation is the fact that seunghan is being treated worse than an actual recently revealed sexual criminal (Taeil formerly of NCT 127) from the same label. Not just by the company, but by kpop fans.
I'd be careful about spreading this, because if anything he was dropped faster than ANY idol I have ever seen from any group. Like holy shit, nctzens did not play around, but acting like somebody is dead to them = being treated more nicely...? Idk why people keep bringing this up.
Right, I’d prefer Taeil isn’t mentioned than being brought up in a bad light. Of course people deserve to know about his actions but at their own research. Constantly talking about him will only give him attention and we don’t want that.
I’ve been listening to K-pop since 2012 and I’ve seen a lot of unhinged things happen but this one is tops the cake. I feel so bad for Seunghan and SM should be ashamed but honestly I’m not even surprised???
between this and the jessi situation right now, plus what happened to yoongi this summer... casually tossing wonho's name in the mix as a treat. a million more non scandals. something has to change in the industry.
This entire situation has been so ridiculous - thank you for bring attention to it outside of the kpop community. Seunghan should never have been put on hiatus in the first place and his antis need to get a grip. Idols are not our friends and they are entitled to their personal lives. Also just for an update on the situation: a ton of major kpop stores and distributors have announced that they are halting their sale of RIIZE albums in protest and to support Seunghan.
you covered it so well, i am really glad that other more mainstream people talk about it. hopefully this big pushback and boycott will work. i live in europe but even in my country all the country’s kpop stores are boycotting ordering riize and all that. hopefully we’ll have some impact cuz this really is for the greater good. Sm really does somehow get away whit a lot of bullshit hopefully this won’t slide

I saw a tweet from a korean fan, and it said, 'you either become an idol or have a personal life. Don't have both. It's that simple.' This level of madness is diabolical.
Those people have no life.. They are worshiping these idols like they are their God. These idols are humans too like damn.
I feel that some of these fans are like female version of incel 🙃 It’s so unhinged they should get a life
The companies established this parasocial arrangement.
It’s so disheartening.
right?? like this whole situation has revealed how truly deep SM’s greed runs
Let's be honest, SM and JYP never cared about international fans until they saw the success of Blackpink.
The fact that people were sending funeral wreaths and death threats to his company until he left is unbelievable…
That is nothing to what Kpop fans did to Block B
it wasn’t to his company, (unless you mean location) it was to HIM. those wreaths were to deter HIM. to frighten and send death threats to HIM. it’s horrific. their aim was to frighten and threaten him into leaving the group.

@@shsharding44 No point in comparing. Both are bad.
Omg I didn’t even think about him already preparing for the comeback 😭

Poor guy 💔that’s so messed up.
some of the people who sent wreaths literally said things like "i hope you never have anything good on this earth" or "it doesn't matter if you die just dont mess with the rest of the group" so like they WERE threats
They definetly were threats. Cause the people organising them had posted on twitter about how they hoped he'd off himself after seeing them, or how they don't care if he has to die for it as long as the other 6 members can keep their career without him. They wanted him gone no matter what the cost
Yes, it's an attempt to bully him into suicide or leaving.
Exactly what I thought! Broke my heart. :(
Context is also really important when discussing this.
It's like a cycle they feed into
Not allowing idols to date is a part of feeding that cycle, imo. Selling a fantasy in that way only deepens their perceived bond - and makes them go insane when stuff like this happens

another fact i’d bring up tbh is they officially kicked him from the group when the rest of the group was in spain, away from the company and country. the group had been so excited about his return, but the company went behind their own artists backs.

Theres also the situations of Lucas too
This!! Renjun said that even during his mental health hiatus people continued following him. He would get on planes and see the same faces. Is this something exclusive to Kpop? Is this also something frowned upon in general Korean culture, or is this only scrutinized for celebrities?
i’ll add that the members themselves strongly supported seunghan’s return and wonbin’s statement hints that they literally fought for him to stay. they’ve even recently been spotted at fan meetings holding up 7 fingers to show support. so yeah, this decision was literally only good for the very small group of predominantly korean and chinese fans that for some reason have power over 99% of the global fanbase that are actually sane. and sm clearly doesn’t care ab their artists interests or protecting them. There's petitions, boycotts, an outpouring of support, even from other fandoms, and a very general consensus online that SM and kpop in general needs to change and that what happened to him is injustice. There is a ray of light. And I don't think this is over. Not for good.

Cute how you think SM gives a f about anyone except themselves and k-fans. This will not change anything.
Although it is really very heartwarming to see the kpop fandom unite behind Seunghan… I honestly don’t see SM bring back Seunghan. Also, I don’t think it will be good for Seunghan to rejoin the shitty company~
(Edit) not sure why yt keeps removing my harmless comment but I just wanted to reply to @ZOMB13ROT that I KNOW Seunghan is still contracted with SM~ what I meant was that I don’t think he should return to SM as an active idol.
Sending funeral wreath is UNHINGED.
one of the hate comments he received was "you lived to attend your own funeral". I'm not even a big fan of the group but that rlly hurt.
The death wreaths were mostly organized by the Korean obsessed stans thought I saw actual fans of the group sending trucks and flower to the company with messages like “we love seunghan” “we stand with seunghan” so I hope he knows he is loved and that he’s got people rooting for him
Just imagine how many tears fell out of this man's eyes, having to leave the dream of his life because of those bunch of narcissistic bullies!
ok, as someone who was a casual fan of riize since predebut and was following this situation in real time, you did a pretty good job explaining it. (It’s funny you should mention loona at the end of this video because their fans’ organized boycott was part of what let them leave their horrible former company.)
bit of extra info, a few days ago there was even a counter-protest where the funeral wreaths used to be in support of Seunghan.
True the boycott is very prominent!!
we honestly just need to take away as much money from sm as possible to get them to actually do something about this. they dont care about their idols, but when the company starts being affected then they care (which is absolutely insane lmao). that being said ive been boycotting all sm groups for the time being, i agree that boycotting riize helps too, but i just think it would be most effective if we all boycott the entire company. which i knowwww is hard for some people especially with aespa having a comeback right now but like i want seunghan back so bad ill do ANYTHING
There's something seriously wrong with k-pop culture, and I'm glad people are finally are finally talking about it!
This is why i dont support k-pop in general. Its so corporate, in the worst way.
I am getting a master's degree on international politics studying this, basically, and I hope people understand that the problem is not just the industry, but the whole society.
this bot ass comment 😭
“Kpop culture” wait until you find out koreans do this to any korean celebrity
@@ogabrielalbarabsolutely agree with this. Sure we can talk about it and give our options and criticisms, but as outsiders it is also important to also realize this isn't an easy issue to solve because it involves a country and ingrained pre-existing issues.
Funeral wreaths for a 21 y.o cause he dated. Do people realise how insane this sounds?
I’m so glad this is getting more and more coverage outside of the kpop community 😭
I never thought he would talk about seunghan oh my god
Edit: finished watching the video (2x speed) and there's a lot you missed (but I don't blame you honestly). Most OT7 fans have said that they are dumb as hell because they think they're aren't going to get beat up in LA
Also honorable mentions to siren's boycott version "bring back the seunghan" and the person on the chnge petition that said "bring seunghan BAAAAACKKK🗣️🗣️‼️‼️ thank yew❤️✌️"
Also about Hyuna and Dawn: they dated for I think five years, proposed, and then Hyuna broke it off because the relationship was moving too quickly.

Exactly, these idols are not allowed to have relationships or even get married because of the toxic environment these companies have created for them. I still don't forgive fans to this day for what they did to Monsta Xs Wonho and heck even Super Junior's Sungmin

Just want to note that Hyuna and E'dawn have been broken up and Hyuna recently married a man that was of involved in a s3x scandal. He didn't participate in hurting victims, but he received videos and didn't notify police.
@@jstnetan 2:16 i don’t think they’re equating it to that, they’re simply adding extra information since hyuna and dawn are brought up.
@@jstnetan context clues are important, aren't they?
My worlds are colliding. D'Angelo making a video this...oh my god. Yes.
The fact that he felt the need to apologize for absolutely nothing is monumentally just...dumb. the kpop fandom started getting on my nerves as a former listener. I can only imagine how torn these artists feel doing something they love for a group of people who, at the core, have no appreciation for the craft and talent, but only seek to control and possess the artists as much as possible.
sm stands for bullying, its sad. i hope seunghan can make it in the industry in some way or another without further harrasment
thank you for talking about this, i genuinely cannot believe some people think it’s okay to put someone through what those “fans” did to him
Honestly this is genuinely such an overblown situation, imagine caring this much about someone’s life outside of their work. SM putting him on a hiatus for this long made it even worse. Hope he’s doing better, honestly this must be so mentally draining.
The only reason why those ot6 rats cared so much about seunghans life is because they probaly thought seunghan was theirs but now they can no longer fulfill there delusions or fantasies of seunghan being with them because seunghan has already dated and smoked he's no longer a saint he's tainted in there eyes he's no longer pure he was suppose to date them first he only belonged to them.. this is what goes on in such ppls heads 🤢🤢🤮🤮these ppl are very disgusting and dirty minded and it's all because of sm and the kpop world..marketing or advertising kpop idols to ppl like there in some sort of parasocial relationship is wrong on so many levels the idols are humans they are not ppls toys they don't belong to anyone...companies marketing idols as such ends up attracting the wrong kind of ppl the delusional kind what's even worse is that instead of catering to the normal fans companies caters towards such delusional ppl the delusional ppl are not even in the majority I don't know why the companies are like this
Actually I do have an idea on why there like this it's cuz of greed they cater to such delusional ppl because these delusional ppl are rich asf compared to the other fans so it fills the company pockets with money
Thank you for covering this. As another person commented, they were marketed as a global group. International fans think he did nothing wrong and certainly not enough to warrant a hiatus or being kicked out of the group. If SM is surprised by the boycott by international fans, then they certainly didn't do their homework on global audiences. Yeah definitely
the way idols can't date or do normal things is something that is unfortunately ingrained into the culture. sm entertainment, (the company that riize is under), is notorious for horrible treatment all across the board. I'm very glad that dangelo covered this, it deserves to be covered and was done very professionally. riize is always and will always be 7
People NEED to talk about Yunho being poisoned!!!!! SM is disgusting
omg this is a horrifying thing to do to someone! i can't imagine not protecting someone this happened to, like the average random stranger would do more for someone they saw being poisoned than this...
edit: i looked it up and he forgave her bc she was young? damn he's much more graceful and forgiving than i would have been! apparently he went through a lot of exposure therapy and is doing much better now. i'm glad he's okay
Or when SM ruined the potential of TVXQ (Yunho is a member still) due to their 13 year contracts 😭😭😭

Another important angle to this conversation is the fact that seunghan is being treated worse than an actual recently revealed sexual criminal (Taeil formerly of NCT 127) from the same label. Not just by the company, but by kpop fans.
