There are some guitar virtuosos out there that make you feel: "i just wanna quit of playin' the guitar", but this man is full of inspiration that makes me wanna take a guitar and just play forever!
hi there have you tried a plastic nokkahuilu...!! it relating to guitar is a very delicate instrument ... when i was younger i had more eager ears ...nowadays i just have ears ...an d time of course
No, no virtuoso can make me feel like that, if i feel like that i feel b-cos of my fault of being such a lazzy dumb ass, i want beat the shit out of those virtuoso's, i want to be their virtuoso and make them quit guitar
I've been playing guitar for almost 30 years and I used to be into all the shredders..Beck, Malmsteen, Satriani, Vai..etc...then I had a Blues phase a la Gilmour, Moore, Bonamassa. After years of this I eventually learned that all that matters is playing in service to the song and having a singular voice. Suffice it to say, Nick Johnston is the first guitarist in Years that has impressed me. He is equal parts virtuoso, tone connoisseur, and prolific songwriter. Thank you, Nick for working so hard to share you gifts with all of us!
"After years of this I eventually learned that all that matters is playing in service to the song and having a singular voice." Means David Gilmour to me. ;)
Everything this guy does is fantastic. And if you haven't seen him live, add it to your 'must-do' list. Fantastic and soulful, technical and groovy, and a really nice guy to boot.
How someone so young can master guitar that level - Not only the technical aspect, but, his composer side, taste, unbelieveble musical maturity. Usually this level of mastery we see on players with +40 years;
Wow. The HD and that crazy cool guitar grabbed and hooked me visually but your great melodic phrasing and unexpected modulations made my ears very happy! I thoroughly enjoyed it - very well done Nick!
I love this song! Nick, your playing is top notch - tasteful is the best way I can describe it - and I love your catchy writing and quirky song titles. I will be buying this album.
In all honesty, this is one of the most beautiful guitar peaces, most innovative and original that I have listened to since a couple of years. HATS OFFFFFFFFFF
What talent! Nick might not be the most technical guitarist or crazy Petrucci style speedy, yet he is one guitarist that simply blends with his instrument in an amazing way.
Your music definitely reminds me of Joe Satriani, Andy Timmons and others but what I like the most is your own touch and that you really got some new and fresh ideas never heard before.. Rock on. Greetings from Egypt.
give the man a claw hand and a hat and he could double as freddy krueger. But seriously watching an interview that had jeff loomis in it and he recommended Nick Johnson.... I'm glad I came. Awesome song.

I don’t get that attitude. Never has a good player ever discouraged me from playing but I agree this dudes chops are incredibly inspiring.

If you like Nick, check out Guthrie Govan! Very similar playstyles and very similar ingenuity.
Well said Paul.

As well as your a mean one Mr. Grinch.
Both songs are extremely "playful"

The move from a sort of chromatic minor to a diminished scale from 3:40-3:44 is just breathtaking.

Nick is so bad ass! His tone, sound, style and shred playing sound so much different and unique from the other shredder!
In all honesty, this is one of the most beautiful guitar peaces, most innovative and original that I have listened to since a couple of years. HATS OFFFFFFFFFF
