Mackerel on the Chew! Daiwa Double Clutch 95 - Brisbane Land-based

- A fishing session on the flats in front of Brighton Beach, north of Brisbane. I was treated with a beautiful winter morning. However, a storm was forecasted later in the weekend - so I made sure I got my weekly dose of fishing. Compared with other weeekends, the water wasn't as busy with boat traffic and other fishos. This is a good sign as the fish won't be as spooked. As a result, the pelagics were firing and on the chew - good fun was had with bent rods and screaming reels.

gr8 catch on the mackerel. so cool to hook onto the species of fish that is hard to get landbased
Hey mate, thanks for coming back to watch! I think the fish that got away was a Tarpon, which also busted me off on a previous fishing session. It has a forked tail, so I'm pretty certain 👍
Great work
Hey Serena, hope you enjoyed and thanks for watching 😊
ImJasonFish I do keep up the good work
Hi,where is this place?
Hey mate, Brighton, north of Brisbane 👍
Another excellent video with informative commentary. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the support William. Hope you enjoyed and thanks for watching ☺️
Good video Jas,. May I ask what time you start fishing there?
Hey Jazz, You can fish the area around 2-3 hours before low tide. Thanks for watching 👍
Solid catch around the horni - solid tip is to not wave the fish back and forth and instead do it side to side. This will alleviate the lactic acid build and give them a better chance 🙌🏽
Hey Michael, thanks for the tip! Cheers for watching 😊
Another great vidz
Hey mate, cheers for watching 👍
What's your rod set up, mate? Solid fish👌
Hey mate, thanks for watching. All my fishing setup and details are in the video description below. Cheers 👍
I thought it was a bit funny when you walk past old mate in the tinny with your mack. I would have been cursing lol.
Nice video.
Yeah mate, was a bit off camera! 😂😂 Thanks for watching 👍
Awesome meeting you out there bro, great vid as always
Hey Alex mate, thanks for coming up and saying g'day! Was fantastic to meet you - hope to bump into you again! Thanks for watching and good luck out there fishing 👍
keep up the good work mate , btw what shoes do you use when wading in the flats?
Hey mate, I use diver boots. You can also wear crocs or running shoes as well. Glad you enjoyed - thanks for watching😊
@@ImJasonFish cheers mate
Nice fish! Had a go at queens beach today, no luck with plastics. I had 4 or 5 hits but can never set them 😭 And got a slimy longtom on a dirty old prawn 😂 im slowly learning 😁
Sounds like a fun session! At least you got some hits haha. Thanks for the update 👍
Good work Fishy, keep it up!
Thanks Liz 💕
How long was your leader and what knot do use to cast through the eyelets
Hey Todd, I use two double arm lengths and a bit (Just over 2 metres) for leader. I also recommend using a FG knot as it slimline, very strong and won't get caught in the rod eyelets. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching 😊
@@ImJasonFish second this. Just found an awesome easy method of tying fg knot. No need to use your mouth. Can tie it in just over a minute. It's a great knot. I use 30 turns for 10 lb. How many turns do you use Jason?
Another great vid. Is there much water on the flats there at low tide Jason? Thanks.
Hey mate, the main channel is still deep. Thanks for watching 👍
@@ImJasonFish Thanks Jason but what about the flats itself. Does it contain enough water to fish or is it dry? Thanks again.
Hey mate, at low tide there is plenty of bank to fish from - casting into the main channel.
Hey Jason, do the mackerel turn up there regularly during winter, or was that a bit of a fluke?
Hey mate, I've got a few mackerel along the Teds Smout Highway on low tide flicking the flats. You can also get them along Shorncliffe and Nudgee Beach. But you cant really target them as they come and go. Hope this helps helps. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment 😊
Hey mate great vid and nice Mackie too, just wondered what size trebles you use on your double clutches, keep up the great work 👍
Hey Daniel, thanks for watching! As I have quite a few lures, I've bought a packet of each size of Owner Trebles and then I match the treble with the lure. In this case I think I used either size 8 or 10 Owner Trebles. Hope this helps 😊
Yeah cheers for that mate that does help, thanks 👌👍
Mate do you park at the culdersac and then walk back towards the bridge
That's it mate 👍 Good luck!
ImJasonFish got two today a 30 and a 50+ spat the plastic right at the edge . Know I know the pain . Fished haysmouth in arvo low tide run out until 4 pm
Nice session you had there! Bugger you lost that 50 Flaty. Thanks for sharing 😊
Hey mate, done anything up in the Redlands area land based?
Hey Blake, I live on the Northside, so unfortunately don't fish much that way. Do you recommend any spots? Cheers for watching 😊
The fish that jumped off was a tarpon
Yeah mate that's what I think as well. Upon review of the footage, the forked tail gives it away. A good sized one as well! It's the second time I've lost a tarpon, on camera as well! Thanks for watching 👍
