Yeah mate, the rays loved me that day 😂 Never caught so many on lure in the same session. But always good fun. Thanks for coming back to watch and leaving a comment 😊
What's going on Jason! New subscriber here! Man that was a big shovel nose! And that was a nice flat head! Those stingrays are a head ache. Great video! I loved it!

far out haha talk about a huge start to the year! that shovel nose shark is definitely one fish i would like to target if i get the chance. but man talk about a perfect hook up on a rare fish! but man talk about catch 'flat'ies all day haha
Haha good one mate! Usually I get them on bait, but this time on lure surprisingly. Never knew they were aggressive predators. Thanks for coming back to watch and dropping a comment. Cheers mate 😊👍
Hey Garry, indeed was great fun being taken to Moreton Island and watching all my line peel away 😬 Yeah, I've eaten shovel nose before and the flesh is delicious. Though this big old girl was too big to take home and always good to release for the next angler to experience 👍 Thanks for watching and leaving a comment 😊
@@ImJasonFish Was a nice morning, no waves coming over the groynes , that flatty that bit me off went through 16lb leader , was a solid flatty , wednesday i fished the northern side out on the sandflats for zero, and had a few more zeros on that bank lately, have you checked out the Pirtek fishing challenge for April, 17th and 18th.
Hi ..... what shoes are you wearing for the purpose of being on that groyne at Brighton ... then in shin deep water on sand landing that 4' shovel nose shark? @ 19:00
Hey mate, the shoes are Land & Sea Dive boots from BCF. My feet are pretty soft, so I need to wear boots haha. Plus can never be careful stepping around the flats and rocks. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment 👍
@@aussie_fishcatcha9583 haha so did I! Got so excited as I was using my kids kmart fishing gear ie really light and it took ages to land a 94cm one lol.
Hey Robert mate, great to hear from you. How big did the shovel nose go? Must have been huge if it fed the family for that long! Thanks for watching and sharing your stories 😊
Bro if you want to catch lots of shovelnose shark down at Nudgee Beach pier I see loads of people getting them using whole winter whiting on ganged hooks and they really seem to love whiting
Hey Xavier, thanks for the tip. I reckon single hooks are better in some scenarios. Ganged hooked have their place in the surf, but singles for the monsters as they cant't feel the hard metal as much. Thanks for watching 👍
Haha hey mate. Sometimes I have good days and sometimes I have donut days. Many fishing sessions you never see as I catch nothing or its not enough footage for a full video. Some of these clips and videos are compiled together and can be seen on my compilation playlist. Though, I always try and at least go fishing once a week as it is difficult with a full-time work and catching up with things on weekends. So I always hope I can get a video from that one fishing session that week. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment 😊
Hey mate, I find the high tides above at least 2.2m the most productive. Possibly due to the fish being able to move right into shore. I would reccomend using hardbody lures at this spot as there are no snags due to it being a sand flat. Hopefully this helps you a bit. Thanks for watching and good luck!
@@ImJasonFish Hi jason, my favourite plastic was a bargain bin 3 inch white paddle tail that i cut 1 cm off, my tally for the year was a whisker off 260 so white will be my go to this year as well.
Hi Jason, it's proper name is actually a Giant Shovel Nose Ray according to Qld Fisheries (Google it). I caught a 94cm one there a couple of months back now. Tasted alright too 😉 What's wrong with rays? Don't their wings taste good? What time did you start fishing? It looks pretty bright. I thought sunrise was usually the best time? Cheers.
Hey mate, they indeed are good eating, but this one was too big to keep. Plus everyone likes a good release for an big old girl. There is a very big controversy and public dislike when keeping big fish especially flathead (lots of people hit the dislike button). High tide was around 11:30am, so I started fishing around 9am as the tide was already pretty high. But yeah sunrise is generally the best time to fish as the wind usually picks up later in the morning. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment 👍
Great session, Jason! These rays just wouldn't let you go. Haha...

you have gotta try the jackals squirrel for those deep flatteries, one of my favourite lures
Hey mate, thanks for watching and the reccomendation. What's your go to pattern?
@@ImJasonFish i forget the name but it is a pink shrimp pattern. p.s when i got me first shovel nose i thought it was a monster flatty.

Do you reccomend fishing high or low tide at brighton?
Hey Will, the Brighton groynes are only fishable at high tide. Good luck and thanks for watching 😊
On average, how much do you think you catch a day. Just wondering because I feel like I’m the only one catching one to two fish a day 😭

@@ImJasonFish I usually get a few on plastics there but with the big winds lately the chop has been flying over the groins and up your leg lol.
Yeah soft plastics work well. Which plastic lure do you flick? Yeah tell me about it, hence why I went to a higher groyne 😂
