    Thanks for a perfect video. Camera and lighting are great, giving close-ups of tricky parts. You explain things slowly and clearly. The "subtitles" for what you say are helpful. You clearly took a lot of care in making this video. Wish DIY videos were this good. Thanks, from a very un-handy person.

      Thank you I too felt the same way about other diy videos. So I just decided to make my own.

    Nice video. I think you have the extension spring cable installed backwards. The pre-made loop goes around the post at the bottom. That way you don't need a cable clamp. The straight end of steel rope goes through the metal plate you discarded. You pull the extra rope through the plate and use the S-hook to connect the plate to the door frame.

    You installed the cable backwards. The precrimped end with the loop goes on the bottom roller bracket. And the other end gets mounted with the s-hook and clamp. The way youve got it is dangerous. The cable clamp being on the bottom roller bracket puts it at risk for getting caught on the tracks and track brackets. Espescially where your horizontal and vertical tracks meet. If the cable were to hang up on anything and get pulled off the bracket then you have a door thats lost half the spring support and is also waaayyy off balance. So if your using a door opener on the door its gonna wreck the lopsided out of balance door when the cable gets stuck or flips off. Aside from that never replace just 1 cable. Replace both sides at the same time. Cables do come apart visibly from the outside. But what happens alot is the cable starts breaking apart from the inside. Then you get a door thats crooked as hell cuz only one 30 year old cable got changed.

    Thank you. Now I know a wheel close to the entrance broke off too.
    So I need a new cable and a new wheel.

  • @valtavares2805
    @valtavares2805 2 года назад

    You should drill a hole at the bottom of door so that you can just attach the wire to something like a latch

    My door it seems that the wheel is on the top near the wall side going out that the wheel is on the outside not the inside is that wrong whoever put that up before we moved in ? And should I just take the wheel off and put it on the inside like yours was ???

    How do you get the door up?? I pulled the red string, but don’t know how to get the door up?

    • @Hindsight101
      @Hindsight101  9 месяцев назад

      You have to manually pull the door up if it's aluminum. It's easy if you have a wood door, it could be a little hard since they're very heavy

    When should the extension spring be replaced? I'm not the original owner and I don't know how old the system is. However, the springs don't have any kinks, pulls, and they operate smoothly with the door. The only problem I have with the door is that it jumps/jerks 4-6" from the floor when I shut the door. I believe the problem is due to the pulley.

      7 to 12 years is recommend buy I wait until I need to just as long as you have the safety measures in place.

    Whats is the size of the door??

      It’s a standard one car garage door aluminum

  • @mluqman

    I guess I made cable too short, I thought you really had to stretch string when first attaching it. Looks like yours has 0 tention when door is open

    • @Hindsight101
      @Hindsight101  4 года назад +1

      Correct the tension comes from when the door is closed and the spring extends

    No offense, I know you're trying to help but the actual camera angles and the blurry images really don't show too much you know what you're doing but a person watching the video doesn't know what they're doing.
