Take an hour out of your life and watch their “home is for the heartless” dvd. It’s available on RUclips. Their guitarist did half a world tour in a wheelchair and speaks of his favorite time on stage being when he fell out of the wheelchair and laughed at himself. The dvd showcases them playing clubs in Tijuana Mexico, Chile, Russia, and India. It’s impressive. They guys, Winston in particular are as happy and blown away by the response to their music in a 100 person club with no stage or 20,000 at Wacken Open Air. One of my favorite live performances ever.
20000 at Wacken Open Air? That particular concert from Parkway at W:O:A 2019 were attended by around 50000 to 60000 people 😉

Crowd surfed at festivals the feeling of literally floating on people while one of your favorite bands playing is one of the most euphoric feelings you can have

fun fact: majority of the band members have been in AND performed while in a wheelchair, this time it was a torn ACL (knee injury) from a soccer accident haha!

Parkway drive had also some live with the 2 nd guitarist in a wheelchair, both were hurt surfing .
You should check parkway drive the dvd available on youtube wich is a documentary about the early years of the band.
Its really interesting to see it was just a couple of mates doing crazy shit and eventually playing music for fun.
They try to go to europe, and they went to a bar playing in front of maybe 20 people, year later they came back to the exact same place playing in a full crowded scene !
Apparently they have two documentaries! I want to see the new one as well!

The reason the bassist is in a wheel chair is: they were traveling the world touring for multiple months. Then they went home to Australia and had a couple of weeks home before traveling to Germany for their biggest headline show ever (this you are watching, wacken) and in those weeks he has a accident, actually 2 days before flying out to Germany. I think it was a surfing accident not sure.

You can watch their documentary on amazon. It’s called Viva the Underdogs. It’s about how they are self managed and their road to wacken. I’d highly recommend it.

Great reaction. I've been to last year's Wacken open air and I enjoyed every second. Especially the shows of Parkway Drive, Jinjer and Sabaton.

Yeah, those were amazing shows. Another personal highlight for me was Leo (frog leap), although the spot at Saturday night, 2am or something was bad... still an amazing end to a great week.

If you love their music on their track, you will literally melt at their live shows. Seriously one of the most incredible experiences I have ever had. And Wild Eyes might be their most moving and engaging song live.
I got to see them live in 2019, they had a huge pyrotechnics show and a gyroscope contraption that the drummer was being flipped around in🤟

Greatest fact about the bassist!! HE DOESN'T/didn't KNOW HOW TO PLAY BASS!! Well he didn't originally. I believe the original bass player left and they hired their best mate to fill the spot. the guitar player kicked him out of the studio and stole his bass to wrote his part then taught him the stings for shows and recordings. Haven't looked into that since deep blue was new

I think people hear the screaming and think its evil or demonic( which some bands are) but the screaming is just an expression of raw emotion, mainly anger and pain.
Jia did break his leg at a minor league socker match in Australia one week prior to the show. You should watch there documentation "viva the underdogs" it's about their road to Wacken and fun to watch 👌

Wow..loved your reaction and personal insights..honestly metal is blacklisted..these guys are musicians who hone their craft and are talented..this is the avenue to express their art that they chose..and a lot of times it's not the money that motivated them but the love of the content they are creating..we should all love good music regardless of the genre or what the majority of people think of the genre..

Country mostly old school Johnny Cash is my hero .Winston is just a beast and the best metalcore singer on the plant .Check out the new Architects new one Animal's i believe you'll love them.So sic and the incredible Josh Middleton who plays in Architect and his own band Sylosis is amazing with their latest worship decay song .Check them out.
Oh and to answer why Jia is in a wheelchair, these guys are just a bunch of hippie surfer dudes. Pretty sure he broke his foot prior to their tour during a surfing accident. It's nothing new, both guitarists have toured after surfing injuries in a wheelchair. I highly recommend you watch their documentaries, really interesting and humble beginnings for these guys.

@@MatthewRunaway Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighter's broke his tib/fib & dislocated his ankle only 2 songs in at a festival in Sweden. Fell of the stage. He said splint it, pop my ankle back, WHICH THEY DID, was carried out, put in a chair and while an EMT held it in place on stage, he played on! I had ironically had the very same injury and given nitrous to suck on & a crap ton of Morphine. I guess that festival pumped him up enough. They made this big thrown of guitars for him to sit on the rest of the tour..now THAT'S Rock n' Roll !

There is no question that some of their guitar riffs sound very 80's, which I think is fucking amazing. They're just amazing riffs that grab you and cut through everything.
