Filming an ODESZA Concert | Behind the Scenes (Sony FS7)

- Here's an "over-the-camera" perspective of filming an Odesza concert. It's start-to-finish, so feel free to skip around. Odesza is one of my all-time favorite groups, so filming their set was a dream come true.
The monitor used is my new SmallHD 703 UltraBright. It's stupid bright at 2200 nits. Possible review coming soon?

Super rad! Best feeling is filming someone you listen to and enjoy!
Finally Rob, you kept us waiting but it was worth it :)
Are you kidding me? The best in the job filming the best in the job. Love ya work Rob!!
That's dope. Doing your passion and listening to your favorite music in the same time
Ive shot music festivals and they are so much fun! This looks awesome to shoot
Awesome! Normally I don't watch videos longer than 10 mins. But you got me. Watched this whole thing! Learned loads and I plan on doing concert videography forsure in the future!
Wow, I appreciate that! Thanks for watching through!!
ND on the 70-200? that looks like fun.
glad you uploaded more content I've binged watched every vid on your channel. Appreciate you taking the time to share it.
I was using an adapter ring for my Bright Tangerine mattebox during the day. Since it was night, I didn't need the extra ND so I was cycling through internal ND throughout the concert. Thanks so much for the support!!
Awesome thank you for this! Anywhere we can watch the edit?
Great video, subscribed! Can I ask how are you mounting your camera? thanks
Where can we find the end result ?:)
This is incredible! What would you say were your 3 go-to lenses?
Definitely the Canon 17-40, Sigma 50 1.4, and Canon 70-200 2.8. They were the only lenses I used throughout the whole festival!
Do you use any of the Cine gammas for low light scenes? I have the FS5 and anything above the native 2000 ISO in SLOG gives me so much grain in the shadows. I've heard from many DP's that sometimes SLOG just isn't the best for every scene. Thoughts?
Love your content! Do you have any LUTs to share? I'm finding it really hard to find the correct ones to import to the camera. My grading luts on the computer does'nt work in camera :( I love your grading on you videos and would be so glad to know what lut you are useing :D Thanks for your work and your content!
Which camera are you using? Another option is to upload your LUTs onto a monitor that supports them. Here is a link to the Arrilook LUTs I use: bit.ly/2R0zZAx
What made you decide to film f3.5 ( somewhere in the beginning )?
How is the autofocus?
How are you using S-log at night ? Are you over-exposing the footage to minimise noise ? If yes how do you find enough light with a high shutter angle ? Thanks.
I'm actually exposing normally! I never run into any issues with Slog3 on the FS7 since it has such a clean image, even in low key conditions. Concerts usually pump out tons of light so exposure usually isn't an issue. You'll even notice me flipping in between ND in the video. I'm also using a Speedbooster which also gives me an extra stop of light.
HI! Can you put a link to the LUT you used to monitor?
These are the LUTs that I use: www.bertdegraeve.com/single-post/2016/1/28/Customized-Slog3-LUT-to-match-the-Arri-AmiraAlexaAlexa-Mini
Robert Machado thank you so much! I’ve just finished watching your live on the FS7, and I’m now saving up for it. Hopefully I’ll get it by next summer. It’s certainly a huge upgrade from my a7iii, and I think it’ll be very useful for my Film/TV production BA assignments as well as paid gigs. Cheers mate!

Were you using autofocus?
No autofocus on this one.
@@robchado Isn't it hard to focus since it was F2.0? Moreover, it's a still photo lens.
