    I've got a good count of little owls around me and I've talked the farmer into not using poisons around his buildings

    The yellow of the eyes is not the retina. That’s the iris. The retina sits in the back of the eye and can’t be seen without special instruments.

    That's a great watch. I'm sure if you didn't know the bird, most people would assume it was a baby owl of a larger species.
