I remember Tim Burton's Charlie and the chocolate factory movie getting a lot of criticism back in the day for only using one dwarf actor to portray all the oompa loompas. The Willy Wonka movie didn't use a dwarf actor and this one is not even using real people. So much disrespect.
They CGId the dwarfs, because at 1:54 they showed the original DEI cast they had to play them. This movie has had at least three different trailers in the last few years, and they keep doing reshoots/CGI things because of the huge uproar they have received. This movie is probably going to be so far in the hole, they will never recoup their money. Also don't let the peter dinklage article fool you, he very publicly stated, in 2022 when the movie was announced, that he didnt support using dwarf actors for fantasy rolls, which angered most of the dwarf actor community. We saw how well dinklage's vesion of cyrrano went....The original cast had 1 dwarf, and a bunch of regular people, now it has CGI. I would be less angry at them using CGI, and more angry at them trying to take a classic and turn it into a piece of political filth.

As a German, I find it so disrespectful to my culture that an American company like Disney uses our centuries-old mythology and thinks it should be rewritten and changed because the original story doesn't fit into their world view. Jakob and Wilhelm Grimm didn't write it, they recorded it. They were historians and folklorists. They went around to town story tellers in their native Hesse and wrote down as many folk tales and oral traditions as they could in an attempt to preserve their history and culture as Napoleon was making his way across Europe. I was an exchange student in Kassel, the town they did the bulk of their work in.
The first thing this remake got wrong was casting a decidedly less attractive Snow White than who was cast to play the evil queen. Mirror mirror on the wall, the center piece of this story, is no longer relevant in this remake. It’s Gal Gadot. Hands down.

Disney either doesn't know or doesn't care about the history of the story. Snow White is a lot older than a film from the 30s or even a children's book from the 19th century. Jakob and Wilhelm Grimm didn't write it, they recorded it. They were historians and folklorists. They went around to town story tellers in their native Hesse and wrote down as many folk tales and oral traditions as they could in an attempt to preserve their history and culture as Napoleon was making his way across Europe. I was an exchange student in Kassel, the town they did the bulk of their work in.

As a girl who loves Disney (rather what it used be) I am not going to see this in theaters or on Disney+. LOL They turned Snow White into a girl boss who don't need no man. That's the new plot because the concept of true love is evil now. The problem is people are more aware and knowledgeable of the source material, but young ones are not. They don't read or understand these classic novels and stories. These movies are made for setting up a political narrative not entertainment. They don't care about how much these movies earn until their companies start taking massive losses and go bankrupt.
