I fell into the same boat this weekend...but I did update the Helix Edit 1st but my CPU went into sleep mode & my Helix Floor never got updated properly. Was stuck on the boot failure for 24 hours.

Wow, this saved me! Thank you! The "Line 6 Updater" software was the ticket for me. I kept trying to use HX Edit after it failed and was completely overlooking the Line 6 Updater program. When I was seeing people mention "Line 6 Updater" online, I kept thinking they were just referring to HX Edit's updater mode. I completely missed that it's its own software. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

Updated my HXS just fine, trying to update my guitar players Helix and I've done exactly what you described! When I walked away, my computer went to sleep and now it's just showing that boot failure screen. To make matter worse, I accidentally unplugged the Helix. Now it won't do anything. I need some guidance, please! I can't get the L6 updater to run. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

I can get to The screen that you have at the 3:32 mark, but mine doesn’t show any options below the top line. I just have the line that says local file with nothing below it. Any idea what I might be doing wrong?

i have problem with Line 6 updater in Mac OS Monterrey, after i download it and try to install comes warning "Mac OS cant check for malicious software". What should i do?
You can "X" out of that and then "right click" and "open with" I believe
mine told me to turn the helix on and off during middle of the download to resume download now I have a a straight red line on my HELIX now no device is connected on hx edit and I can't even get to my back up to to start over ! I have a helix brick at this point .., great video

What about when your Helix will not go into Update mode at all?
I did the Line 6 Updater and it automatically updated my Helix to 3.50. I didn't do a factory reset. Did you have to do a factory reset after going through the updater?
yes...it's best and then restore from backup
An error occurred during the backup on my helix, it said Device has not been initialized properly code 8201 Do you know how i can fix this?
If an error happened on the backup, you might have lost that stuff. If you are able to get it back on, but just not backed up, then I would export all my presets to my computer or hard drive and factory reset. Then once you are finished with the update, you can import all your old stuff. I not it's not the most efficient, but just trying to think of ways not to loose everything if the back up won't work
its says select device to update but shows nothing no devices
I updated my helix first and not Hx edit and turn out fine for me. All patches, irs all good without even reading the download instructions 😅

I did all of this trying to update to 3.70 and now HX Edit shows "no device connected". Then when I open Line 6 Updater the screen that asks me to select connected device doesn't show any devices to select. I tried uninstalling / reinstalling everything and ended up stranded on the same island. I'm running windows 7 , 64 bit that until now was more than enough for HX Edit to work with. And trying to update firmware only got me to "widows cannot open this file" Sorry for being redundant because I posted this question on one of your other videos dealing with HX updates but I'm desperate. And yes , I updated HX Edit first and the Stomps screen went black during that process.
Could you make a video explaining how to hook up the HX Stomp together with the Helix for a giant super rig? Like using the FX loops AND using one into the other going right into the front input from one to the other. I can't find any information on this. I know it may sound crazy, but people want to do it. Including me. If you could help it would be the only video showing how.

how do you create a backup? everyone says to do that first, but no one says how.

If I'm updating from 3.50 do I have to incrementally update ? Or can I go straight to the latest update, 3.61 ?

Haven't used mine in awhile, turn it on it boots up fine. Try to play through and getting no sound. Hit a button and nothing. It's frozen. So I turn it off and back on. Now I am greeted with "Updating UI MCU Firmware, please wait," with the old firmware identified. Wasn't connected to anything. Nothing. I didn't ask for the firmware to be updated. Shouldn't have tried to update firmware, but it decided on it's own to do that. Did look online and found out that I have to now force it into Update Mode by turning it on while holding buttons 6 and 12. Took about 6 times turning it on with holding down the 6 and 12 buttons to get it to go into Update mode. Finally after waiting for like 4 mintues it finally said "Firmware failed to load, going into Update mode" and was able to connect with HD Edit. Got about halfway through and stopped. (from PC with nothing else running but I was watching it), and displayed the same "Updating UI MCU Firmware..." although now is indicating 3.71 firmware. So I figure I have to try again. I've been trying for HOURS< but now I can't get it to go back into Update Mode again. I put in a ticket, so we'll see if they 1) respond, and 2) have a fix. I hope so. I spent a lot of money for a device that bricks itself without even being turned on.
Good guys are as precious as pandas.
I'm using the Updater, but the failure still appears 😔 I don't know what to do...

picked up my hx stomp yesterday, plugged it in, thought i followed the steps and it updated to 3.51. noowwww everytime i turn on my stomp it freezes on the "loading screen" with no progress bar or anything. so if i create a patch, and turn off my board, i have to factory reset by pressing either all 3 footswitches while it boots up, OR footswitches 2 &3. super stressed out right now

@@HeyWorshipLeader i'm still dealing with the freeze on loading screen. i've deleted the hx edit and updater, and re-installed, followed everything..it worked for a few days, but then the audio cut out on me during a youth event twice last night...and now i can't even prep for church tomorrow...very annoyed with this

I did edit 1st - it's still stuck on initializing - I had the update installed previously BUT it wouldn't play nice w/cakewalk so I had rolled back to 3.15..why I'm trying again....not so sure now - 3rd edit lol - NOW it's showing a progress bar - all this to get the fw & then I'm going to uninstall all the line6 drivers & use the 1.96 drivers so I can have audio!
Any update on this?
@@HeyWorshipLeader yeah - all good - my laptop had screensaver come on,..oops - & like I said I uninstalled all line 6 except native & installed the 1.96 drivers - so I have 3.50 working & Cakewalk as well
@@daganhaddad Thanks for this. I had set my computer to never sleep but forgot about the screensaver. Whew!
So I got updater to show my Helix, then started the update but NOTHING EVER HAPPENED! The wheel just keeps spinning! :(

Also- don’t let your computer go into sleep mode. It bricked my Helix and I had to boot in safe mode and start over again. It was scary for a moment!

You are not supposed to Connect your helix to your computer through a USB hub

None of these problems are the customers fault. The helix clearly has badly engineered issues that goes down to the hardware level that's causing all this friction. The most egregious is the terrible USB connection these devices have. That should not be an issue for a product in that price category. It shouldn't be a problem for a product in any price category in this day and age.
I agree...I wish it were easier
