Just dont use cilantro if you dont care for it. If you're afraid of raw shrimp just boil it til it turns pink. Make sure to marinate it in the lime or lemon for at least on hour. Yes, you can replace lime with lemon. Jalapeno is usually more mild than serrano. You can use just jalapeno if you cant handle spicy. Seed it and cut the veins off if you really cant handle heat.
The thing I don't understand is why people phrase it "handle heat". I can "handle" spicy foods, they just don't taste good and it's not a sensation that enhances my food experience beyond what a reasonable amount of spice would be.

As an unseasoned white woman from the suburbs who’s worked at multiple Mexican restaurants… please try this recipe. It’s so simple and so freaking good. One of the best of actual Mexican cuisine. Serve it with some blue corn tostadas and a spicy michelada and you’ve got a feast on your hands.

All this beautiful amazing food that I never would have imagined, much less ever prepared. Now I want to make them all. Thank you for sharing your delicious world! 😮😊
It’s not a dish that I would eat, but it’s nice to see cooking with super fresh ingredients that still keep your kitchen cool in the summer heat. It’s just a personal preference, as I simply don’t like shrimp and not a criticism of the recipe. Thank you Jose!
I have to ask for anyone who knows, what are some good alternatives to cilantro? I unfortunately got that gene that makes it taste like soap and i am looking for an option so I can still try these recipes.
Parsley. It will hit many of the same "fresh green herb" notes you'd get from the cilantro without adding any weird flavors. Mint sounds absolutely bonkers as a cilantro substitute lol.
@@jbones6099 I'll have to give it a try. I wouldn't know what's a good subtitute, Just tastes like soap to me, and it's overpowering no matter how strong I make the rest of the dish.
For this recipe Id go Thai Basil as a replacement. Not really close to cilantro, but it works really well with the rest of the ingredients, mint would prob be good too
Yes it’s a chemical cooking. You will notice when the shrimp 🦐changes color. It is use with fish too. When the lime is added separately from the cilantro it is called ceviche in Perú 🇵🇪 and other countries have similar dishes…❤❤❤😊

Oh man, never heard of aquachilé before, that looks so good! Born, raised, and living in the Southwest near Hatch, NM. This is a new recipe I'll have to try😋
I made this yesterday. I would change a few things next time I make it. 1. I would cut the shrimp in half longways, so it’s thinner. Maybe he did that, I don’t know, but I didn’t. 2. I ended up cooking the shrimp. Originally, I left it in the lime juice as stated for an hour, but I didn’t think it seemed “cooked”. Was it supposed to be eaten raw? I wasn’t sure, so I just put the lime juice and shrimp in a pan, had the lime juice come to a low boil, and I cooked both sides of the shrimp before they shrank too much. 3. I’d also cut the avocados and cucumbers smaller, so they fit on the tortilla chips easier. Thats about it. I finished it with myself and partner, and felt refreshed. Very tangy.

Fresh mint works as a cilantro substitute. Some restaurants always use mint in their salsa because of so many that can’t stand cilantro.
@DavidNHale I wish I could. I've tried so hard but even the lightest amount completely overpowers the entire dish and it makes me sad.
