6:55 Uncle Ben the breed of cat is called a Turkish Van and they're gorgeous longhaired cats that actually love water. There's stories of owners having to keep their toilets closed to keep their Turkish Vans from jumping in. Make sure those kibbies don't get any ideas!
Either that or they're Turkish Angoras and either way they'll be very pretty kitties. That momma may have escaped from a cat farm or a not very nice breeder since purebreds like that don't just show up as strays.
from my understanding 95%+ of cat breeds are just "domestic" + fur length (essentially a mutt) if its a rescue with no papers or lineage right?
just because i have a large tabby with thumbs doesnt mean hes part maine coon, nor does heterochromia mean its a turkish van.
these kittens just look like every other domestic short/medium hair out there, absolutely beautiful, but the breed is just "cat"
@@cami5173yeah, especially since most turkish vans have their orange ears and tail markings. not all obviously, but it's probably more likely the tibby is just a domestic shorthair, possibly with turkish van dna though.

Yeah, my cat is listed as a “domestic shorthair”. His dominant physical and personality traits are all Blue Abyssinian (we wanted Russian blue or Abyssinian or both). DNA test says he’s 16% Maine Coone, the rest is all under 10% and neither Russian blue nor Abyssinian were enough to mention… so one never knows with a cat unless it’s from a reputable breeder. 😂
I realise that the reason I religiously watch Uncle Ben is because I always loved animals and wanted to be a veterinarian when I was a kid but grew out of it because I know how difficult the animal care field can be. So this channel kinda fulfills my childhood dream in a way. Thank you for doing what you do and will always keep watching and liking your videos in the future.

For me, I wanted to run a pet store, but eventually adulthood, and now it's even tough for me to keep an apartment. Honestly, I think this one's one of the best channels on youtube. Honestly, There's very few youtubers that watch this consistently
I was a vet tech for 10 years because I loved animals. I managed to fail upwards into the emergency hospital, working 12 hour night shifts, getting covered in shit, piss, and blood. I wound up with a bad ankle, PTSD, and alcoholism. Still the coolest job I've ever had.
100% same. Wanted to be a vet so bad, started studying how they help animals in highschool, realized I did not have the fortitude for half the awful shit they have to witness. I still cringe when uncle ben gets various parasites out of various wounds of these poor animals, but force myself to watch anyways lmao. Maybe one day I can desensitize myself enough to be a volunteer someplace near me or something.

my dad had a turkish angora with two coloured eyes. if theyre with a white coat and like that theres a good chance they are also 100% deaf so look out for that and if so, probably keep the fella indoors on account of being so close to a highway. theyre really funny: theyll be the same exact opposite of afraid of a running vacuum and come to check out the weird vibrations it makes, they wont hear a shower running and just jump in and then out about as quick. its kinda crazy how good their other senses get as a result; i only managed to sneak up behind the little bugger once he became so incredibly good at feeling footsteps. dont even get me started on their cringe broken meows. deaf cats are a blast to have

I love the fact that you took in the bats, there so much fun to watch over. I remember when I was a kid me and my siblings found a young bat on the edge of a forest hurt during the day(most likely fell from a tree) so we told our dad and he got a bucket picked it up and took it home. We then took care of it for a week or 2 before he was flying all on his own again so we brought him back to where we found him and let him go!

That white cat is a turkish van yes! Which is where i live! There are tons of them here but ive never seen one outside of their homeland thats pretty rare!
Also fun fact about turkish vans, they are the most geneticly close cat breeds to tigers so most of them love to swim. You can try that if you want. Lots of love from turkey,van !
I met a Turkish Van when I was volunteering at a shelter! He was a large orange and white cat. It was at that time that I learned about their love of water! He got a good home.

@@abdu8183 of all the cats I worked with I absolutely fell for him. I wanted him! But husband is highly allergic. Still think about that cat’s amazing personality. Funny and very smart for a cat.
