  • After work I took the fishing kayak to the Catawba River and put-in at what has been the sketchiest boat access point yet visited. The paved boat ramp is located under the Hwy 9 bridge, so when visiting be sure to slow down as there is very little in the way of signage. As the river flow is dam-controlled, it is best to check water levels prior to putting in. The ideal flow rate is between 2000-3000cf/s. You can check the flow in the link provided below.

Love your videos as I am in Ft Mill. Your comment about the dead body is spot on! My buddy and I used to go there alot back in the day until his truck got absolutely destroyed. Bad news under that bridge. What about Fishing Creek access?

Oh no. What did they do to the truck?
I've only been to Fishing Creek twice: once to Fishing Creek Access and once to Springs Park. They seemed like nice enough places, but I didn't do particularly well at either.

@@abidefishing Broke out all the windows - stole everything inside - we have never been back. Keep making those videos! Really enjoyable!

That was cool thanks ! Ramp did look a little sketchy. I was fishing the the bank one time over at Mc Dowell by t-bones and when I got to my truck to leave the car next to me had his driver side window smashed out. The guy said he accidentally left his wallet in sight so somebody went for it. I love these videos since I live in Fort Mill, hope you do more vids.
    Thanks

I have a rating for most dangerous ramps on the Catawba. Believe it or not. This one is #2. Hahah.

Any ramp that’s located under a freeway is going to look sketchy, but this one is particularly discomforting. Of course it wasn’t helped by the fact that there was a 60 year old man loitering under the bridge drinking by himself. I left that part out. But I had a fun time on the water, nonetheless.

      Also, what’s the #1?

#1 is by far river park. The types of people down there and the things I have seen are insane

MrFaile Fishing - I completely believe it. I used to work in Parks & Rec and am very familiar with the “alternative” uses for municipal parks.

      Broad River takes the cake.

    Can you catch crappie there?

Joseph Auld - I wish I could answer that, but I don’t know. I don’t crappie fish, but I would assume they’d be in there.
