    Cannot believe your selling the Disco, content is quality with this. Its been more interesting watching you overcome jobs with the Disco than any flatbed work......such a shame as she looks great at night with the lights etc. Still good content anyway mate.

      Evening! Yeah not going to be needed as much soon when i get the dodge ram 4x4 back with century gear and the transit county 4x4 with spec lift. Rather use the money into something else where possible. Thanks for tuning in! GDB

    You’re a braver man than me relying on that screw in eye to do a kinetic recovery - I was waiting to see the whole lot head through your back window! Thankfully you got away with it.

    • @imagseer
      @imagseer 10 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah, those little things are only meant for towing when all the wheels are loose on flat ground

    • @GDBRescueandrecovery
      @GDBRescueandrecovery  10 месяцев назад +12

      Certainly, digging ground out and using boards takes alot of that initial dead weight out, rather than just bang and pull it.
      How would you of recovered that car?
      Bearing in mind if you went off the wishbone / lower arms theres a massive chance of ripping that front bumper straight off…
      Be interesting to hear your response
      GDB

    • @roddyk05
      @roddyk05 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@GDBRescueandrecovery Definitely digging out as you did, the track mats made a huge difference to the load resistance. I would have been tempted to double line pull with the winch - would have indeed tried the towing eye you used but with a winch blanket on the line (assuming steel winch wire) or a secondary safety line onto the snatch block to stop the recoil. The forces in a kinetic recovery can be quite frightening, seen a lad nearly wiped out by a Landrover bumper years ago which took half of the rotten dumb irons with it!

    • @bcp_towing
      @bcp_towing 10 месяцев назад +2

      It was a strap not a kinetic rope !

      @@roddyk05 yeah sometimes i do put something over the winch line, subject to where i am what the job is, interesting comment, And noted! Yeah ive seen them to and tow eyes smashing through windscreens etc. I do normally winch most things.. but past experience the tesla may of just stayed sunk in the grass and keep churning the field up untill it met hard ground again.
      Thanks for the comment!

    Good recovery with the kinetic...never knew about a winch tow keeping it in a trench.
    I belive that REME have charts to tell you what force and equipment you need to recover what weight of bogged vehicle.

    • @halbera
      @halbera 10 месяцев назад +1

      IVR have a chart for free online. If you are in recovery you should defo have had someone show you it? It's not a massively hard calc to do, just make sure you use worst case scenario, don't be optimistic and don't forget the WLL of the equipment your using.

    I work in grounds and garden maintenance and I've never known ground conditions be as wet for so long. I've lost count of the times we've nearly been stuck in the last 6 months and thats with tractors and 4x4 pickups. I thought I'd made the wrong decision putting BF Goodrige Muds on my Hilux as the noise they make on motorways is horendus but in hindight with how wet it's been I'm glad i I got them. We frequentley use a Tirfor winch in tree work which is a really usefull piece of kit if you've got a decent anchor point or want to extend the range of a vehicle winch, do you ever use anything like a Tirfor winch ?

AWD on an EV is never going to be as good as a landrover style. Besides did you miss the bit where Mr GDB says he often gets stuck, is that an epic fail by landrover?

    You wreaked his lawn and you did everything to cover yourself.... sort of guy who makes excuses and tries to gas light customers into thinking if there is a problem it is not your fault because you warned them about the possible issues without giving the customer an alternative. For example, why did you turn the car round on his lawn when you could have turned the car round outside and reversed in? Why could you just use a longer rope and this would have negated all the mess you made going on to his lawn? Even if you didn't have a long enough kinetic rope you could have used a normal tow rope or chain to extended it. Sorry, you are worse nightmare, not because your work is poor, but because you are always shirking your own responsibility.
