Hello, I suggest any version of iPad Air after iPad Air 2, or any iPad Mini after iPad Mini 5. Other iPads such as iPad Pro and the regular one will work as long as it's not too old, anything from 2018 and above will work just fine.
Sir I have to ask what is your settings in your bias fx2 output setting? I mean is your Pre Amp, Tonestack, Power Amp and Cab On? Are You using Amp Input, Amp Return, Headphones, Earphones in the output setting for Live Setup? I'm using Bias Fx2 + Bias Amp 2 + iRig Stomp I/O My setup is Guitar - Bias Fx2 with iRig Stomp I/O - Laney LX65R (Input) and I want to get more good sound and I think there is a big impact in that Output Setting in Bias Fx2 that's why I want to ask what is your settings in output setting in bias fx2?
Hello, I enable all the output setting as I am plugging into the PA. I chose Headphones in the output setting for Live Setup. For your case, as you are plugging into an amp, it is better for you to disable Cab on your Bias FX2, and set the Laney amp as clean and as flat sounding as possible. For me personally, Bias FX2 is more suited toward PA or monitor, it's not a good solution to use with a real guitar amp. I hope this helps!
Fantastic video Gary! after watching your videos I got an Ipad 9 and Bias FX 2 but I keep getting this popping noise not sure if it's my AMP (Peavey Vypyr VIP1) or the Irig or the Ipad that causing the noise. Any thought?
Kratos, thank you for the kind comment! I have never experienced popping noise before, if you want to check, you can use headphone directly from iRig, if it still pops then it's the iRig. If it doesn't pop then it might be the amp.
Hello Andreas, thank you for the comment! I have never encountered such issues before. Have you tried changing the interface? Maybe it's the interface that's causing problems.
Hello Jukka, I don't actually use a DI box, usually I'll just plug in straight to the PA-Mixer, or to a clean amp, then use the output of the amp to the PA-Mixer, depending on what the soundman tells me to do. Cheers!
Gary, I have a similar setup and I've made a preset inspired in yours. I have a question: How to you deal with the volume from different cabinets? Im having a hard time finding "the spot" using together with a Frfr amp. Sometimes it clips(High volume), sometimes one side, for example the clean amp, it's too low.. so I'm working with this issue right now... If you could please share your approach over this I'll really appreciate it! Thanks!
Hello, thank you for the kind comment! Regarding your question, I use EQ pedals on each route and adjusted the level of the EQ pedals to control the volume of each cabinet. It somewhat works, but you have to be very careful because apparently "loudness" on a sound system might be different on other sound system (i.e. headphone volume vs stage sound system). Hope this helps!
When you switch phones, all your purchases will be restored, but your patch won't be restored. You have to save it to the ToneCloud first and download it on the new phone.
Hi Gary, i think i will use it another 4 - 5 years 😁, maybe more 😆. Just for practicing, jamm & some mini live show, so i don't have to burn my cash for physical gears. Save some for rainy days. Anyway, awesome demo 👍, take care & God bless Us all. Cheers!!
Thank you for the kind words Fletch! It really took a while to get some sounds that I am comfortable with, so now I am having the "if it doesn't break, don't fix it" mentality with my guitar tone 😁
Nice playing at 3:20 ish. Sounds like Pat Metheny / Allan Holdsworth lite. Very cool, bro. I use iPad for guitar sounds too. Just got the Nembrini 8180. Expensive but freaking ballsy.
do you have any issues with blueboard? idk maybe i'm doing something wrong but whenever i set up my blueboard with bias fx 2, after a while it will lose the bank patches mode and when i hit the A B C D it won't do what it's supposed to (changing patch/bank up or down) and have to restart the board again. (returning it now lol)
I use the m1 2021 iPad pro - it goes from 100%to aorund 73% in 2 hours. You could use a usb hub that allows charging, and you can use it all day long :)
Getting an actual pedal is a good starting place for becoming familiar with how analog signal flow and analog signal routing for analog signal processing works. But even then, a digital replication works following the exact same principle, with signal being represented (loosely said) in byte information formed from bit data. The preferred advantages to an iPad rig over an actual pedal board is where the signal processing app and the controller hardware supports MIDI controller and program change messages, the iPad rig can to whatever extent limited only by the app's programming and hardware's facilities be automated in a way that can never be approximated by a pedal board. We want our rig to facilitate the creation of sounds as we conceive it, and integral to the production of that sound conception is controlling it, and we want to be able to control it as comprehensively as we can imagine ourselves being able to.
I agree with what you said, thank you for the comment! Your point about getting actual pedals to familiarize with the concept of signal flow is spot on, I wouldn't be able to create my signal path on Bias FX without my knowledge of effects and amp + cab in the first hand. Thank you!

Very awesome tones man. More people need to represent BiasFx 2 on the iPad!
Hey, great video. You don’t experience any latency with this setup?
There is very little latency, it's not noticeable
Very video brother. Could you try the mooer ge labs? They said it is a killer sounding software
Will try if possible in the future, thanks for the suggestion 😊
Hi! I've been curious for a while now. So you need to use a DI Box to PA when using the balanced line out of an interface? Asking for a friend
It's probably the correct way. However I also plug in from the iRig to a clean amp from the line out, without DI box, and it worked just fine.
The rarest and best diy 🎸 rig ever… 🤘🤘
saya udah nyoba Bias FX2 buat manggung sekali, cuma bawa iphone + audio interface direct ke mixer.. beresss, praktis 😁
enak ya kak, udah ringkes, suaranya juga oke banget, banyak pilihan efek juga!
I think that I am going to get the bias fx 2 rig. What version of the ipad would you suggest ?

@@Gary_W Thank You Man, this helps a lot! Bless you Sir.
irig Blu Board nya masih support Om?
baca2 udah ga bisa konek ke bias fx
Bias FX 2 Mobile masih bisa kak

Bias amp for iPad has amp match or only desktop version?
Hi Gary. Nice video. Do you have any latency or crackling noises issue with ipad mini 5 and the bias fx 2?
Hello Andreas, thank you for the comment! I have never encountered such issues before. Have you tried changing the interface? Maybe it's the interface that's causing problems.
Great playing/tone. I wanted to know how interfaced with it.
Hi from Finland! Do you use Di Box in your live setup? I mean between Iriq Pro Duo and PA-Mixer?
Hello Jukka, I don't actually use a DI box, usually I'll just plug in straight to the PA-Mixer, or to a clean amp, then use the output of the amp to the PA-Mixer, depending on what the soundman tells me to do. Cheers!
I already own Bias FX 1, is 2 better sounding?
Not necessarily, but it is more easily compatible with newer iPad and iOS. The older FX1 if I remember correctly does not support newer iPad OS.
Gary did you try Xtone ??
Irig very $$$
Wow! Whats the name of the demo song? High gain lead
Thank you for the comment, unfortunately it's not a song yet, just a melody idea that I developed into a short snippet 😊
Do you have a video on how you connect to your actual amp and amp settings? Thank you!
I need this too😊
Hello, I do have a video on how to connect the rig to a clean amp, here it is: ruclips.net/video/MOhWBD0Y8tI/видео.html

You get great tones on your music Gary. Love your recordings. I tried Bias Amp/FX but can’t get the feel out it you do.
