The BIGGEST Backyard Coaster EVER?! | LITTLE THUNDER
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 15 окт 2024
- Well it's here, the full reveal of the Little Thunder Backyard Roller Coaster. We spent six months planning, three months building, collaborated with over seventy individuals, and built the largest, most themed backyard roller coaster every built. The coaster is over 950' of steel track, has a motorized lift hill and a pneumatic launch, an animatronic, interactive elements, bridges, waterfalls, geysers, a PLC, a custom soundtrack etc. This would not have been possible without all the love, support and goodwill shown to us here at Magictecture. Thank you for joining us on this ride and I hope you stay with us for the next one.

Omg this is amazing! I’d love to ride!
Why doesn’t this comment have like 5000 likes?
Oh hey brent.
Oh sup brent.
@@TheMamaMiaArchivemy exact question
The fact that there is a launch part an animatronic and fog makes it even better this is INCREDIBLE
I loved the movie and the credits!! Thanks for this!!😊😊😊😊😊
Thank you for supporting my comment and for the love. Have a wonderful day ahead 😀
I showed this to some of my students and a third-grader said "I give that ride a 10/10. If it didn't have the smoke it would be a 9/10" 😂
🤣😂
Hi
This is absolutely incredible!!!! Wow!!!
I'm so jealous of the team you have put together for this. Everyone seems to have executed their portion to perfection! Hope to be able to join in on a project someday.
We will have to talk about collaborating on the next one. That would be awesome!!
Can’t wait for Space Mountain! ;)
This is literally the coolest thing in a back yard
Wow!!! Blown away. I want this in my backyard!
AMAZING rollercoaster!
My greatest respect! Such an unique project. And you even have two fog jets underneath the track. Awesome! The ride is really sophisticated…👍😉
Thank you so much! We tried to think of everything!
I can't wait for the Big Thunder ride, I'm feeling Knotts Berry farm vibes. Edit : but from memory the Napa Valley is a placid environment and full of wine tours, you wouldn't want them all throwing up and making a mess on rollercoasters
You guys are my heroes
Absolutely incredible!!
Thank you so much!
Just when i thought nothing could beat this coaster...you give us this video! Amazing production. Well done.
Wow! Incredible job, guys! Someone needs to hire you ASAP! That was AMAZING!
Fun time!!! Great job Magictecture!!!❤️
How much did something like this cost? My Dad owns 75 acres of land is we've been plotting an area for a launch coaster. We're hoping to build something for under $20k, whilst also being able to launch up to 40mph. We're going pure wood to!
I definitely it’s possible if you do all the work yourself, keep the track minimal, and no theming. LTM cost about $75k just for materials, but we did recycle most of the wood, and a bunch of the steel. If you’re looking for a wooden coaster, I’d reach out to my friend Sammy at BuilttoThrill
Would you be interested in the track from LTM?
Probably one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen, I use to ride the runaway mine train at six flags as a kid and this totally has that vibe. You have gain a subscriber 👍🏻
WOW!! SO impressive!!! Love it!!!
Thank you!!
You guys must have had an absolute BLAST creating this. Congrats on an such a cool creation! Love the theming!!
Thats SO EPIC that i wanted to make it. Keep up the great work!👏👏
Thanks for your support! 😁
Omg- a dream come true
So blown away, jaw on floor and definitely have to watch this 5 times haaa Please make more rides.
Thank you for your support! We definitely plan on making more rides in the future.
@@Magictecture can't stop watching this 🤣
You need to make your own space Mountain next!
Love it 👌🏻
Impressive af honestly
you should become a roller coaster manufacturer, seeing how well the ride is with the public
Wow! This is beyond impressive!
Thank you very much!
I’m in Disney right now so really I’m excited to ride your ride than in Disney!
Jealous!!! Love Disneyland
OMG!! THANKS!!!❤
So much fun! And so much nostalgia!
Rockwork looks great, I see it took over 30 people to help build. You could try a natural zoo setting next for chimps, tigers or polar bears.
As someone who personally knows someone who worked on this project (John the music man) this is amazing to see and all of the stories he tells that aren't recorded is amazing. Love it and can't wait for the next coaster!
John is amazing!
Little Thunder is fantastic, I’ve seen worse theming on full size RCs. Truly amazing what you guys have created. Your team is something truly special.
Thank you so much! I agree, we have the best team!!
All those riders look like they had an absolute blast and I'm so jealous.
Wow. Wow. Wow. 🤩
This is so damn cool
What will you guys do next? expedition Everest?
This is epic
That's a pretty impressive animatronic crow. Very convincing!
😂🤣
We worked all week, just for that one effect right@@Magictecture ? All for it to magically fly away 30 sec after getting that shot
That's pretty much how it happened. Had a camera waiting in position for days.
Hey hey! I see a me and Daniel!
This was incredible you guys. We had so much fun!
So glad you could be a part of it!!
hi best friend B)
@@Astywisty heyyyy
@@luvcoral ur so lucky to have gotten to ride an epic rollercoaster >:O
@@Astywisty FSHJHN very much so
i wish you could've come too-oh well
It's the safety rails and stairs next to the track for me
Already set my reminder!!! Whooo hoo
I wanna see you do Space Mountain next! :)
We would love to!
Can’t get over how amazing this is!
So the Matterhorn was nice. But little Thunder is way better. You did an amazing job there. For the next coaster -> A inversion. I believe there is already a loop backyard coaster so maybe do a corkscrew? Or both? who knows...
Thank you!! We definitely want to try and tackle an inversion.
This is amazing and looked like a lot of fun! Another name could have been "Mini Maverick" after Cedar Point's Maverick with the launch in the middle. 🤔
Great idea!
So who is giving this a thumbs down?! Must be a jealous scrooge. I give it all ten fingers UP!
🙌👐💪
Are your rides open to the public? I would love to get a rep for our vlog to come do a featurette.
Not only the biggest it’s the best
Looks like a great time was had by all. Amazing!!!
Bro has a launch mechanism in a backyard roller coaster
Absolutely AMAZING!!
🤯🤯🤯
This being built in my city makes it 10x better. I doubt public riders are allowed though
Gonna be hard-pressed to top this effort. Ready for the IPO?
We'll think of something ;)
If i were to make one this size, i'd add a pingpong ball gun and VR with oculus quest 2 vr headsets with the guardian mode turned off, and a custom map of Half Life Alyx
You’re on the money!
I’m impressed! Do you guys have a production?
We have a core team of designers and then an army of friends who help make the magic happen
@@Magictecture 👍 I think your idea can benefit defunct rides. My favorite is Aerosmith Armageddon Roller Coaster. Is there any defunct ride you miss?
This. Is. Amazing. Blows my mind
Thank you so much!!!
You should make a homemade space mountain
Now imagine if someone made a backyard hypercoaster… oh lord
that might be me someday
U should make the cart like a train
Great idea!
So amazing!! I would say “amazing, as always” but you continue to get more and more amazing with each project!! 🤩
You're the best!
this is amazing!!
Thank you so much!!
How can I ride it?
Amazing
😆😆😆
Epic
Me too.
Location
Napa, CA
Can I come and visit or is it too late or did you never let anybody visit
We had a big party where we let people ride, but we had to dismantle it. The track is currently in a storage facility.
@@Magictecture How long did this take your team to build?
@@gregg5958 We spent about five months in the design phase and construction from start to finish took a little over three months.
@@Magictecture Wow! That’s amazing. You did a wonderful job and I cannot wait to see what your team does next!!!
Where do I buy one

Out of Curiosity what are the guns used for?
Thanks for the question! We wanted the ride to be as interactive as possible and to create stakes for the rider such that the ride experience would change contingent on the rider’s actions.
The props are equipped with an IR emitter in the tip which allows us to place targets using IR sensors.
In the cave scene, the first thing the animatronic bandit tells the rider is that he can see you in the lantern light. This is supposed to subtly reveal to the rider that he should shoot out the various lanterns to hide from the bandit.
The lanterns are programmed to go out when tripped by the IR signal. However, one of them is actually tied to the launching mechanism. This lantern trips the show and tells the computer to launch the kart immediately, triggering an explosion with fog machines, sound and the doors flying open.
If the rider doesn’t do anything, or misses the target, the show runs it’s full length, ending with the bandit shooting a barrel of dynamite behind you which launches you out of the cave.
Either way you get launched, but this way, the rider has some autonomy on what happens. This is our first attempt at changing the ride experience towards something more interactive. Hope that helped explain. We also have a video on the launch which might help you visualize how some of the mechanisms work.
Wow such fun! I'm jealous I'm so far away!
Little Kingda Ka next please
We are up to something…
This is beyond amazing. Great job everyone!
Thank you!!!
I’m late but where is this at??
Napa!
@@Magictecture oh great to know 👍 One Last Question Is The Mountain Coaster And This One Open To The Public If So How Much Much To Ride?
@@volcanicgod8362 it's currently in storage waiting to be moved to a new location. Once back up and running, we'll make that information public.
@@Magictecture Ok, Thanks 😁👍
Just amazing! This has gotta be one of the best, even if it’s not the biggest backyard coaster!
Thank you for the incredible compliment! We are trying to do the best we can as a team.
How did you execute the launch? As an engineer that has worked on rides, that was one of the most impressive moments to me.
We use pneumatics to generate the energy to launch the coaster. For the first 20’ of the launch section, we laid a 20’ PVC pipe under the track that was 6” in diameter. The next 20’ of track was custom made with a “launch track” inside the coaster track to guide the launch rod. We fabricated a 20’ piston out of steel. The plunger end had bearings to help the rod glide inside the pipe and gaskets to seal as much air as possible. The coaster connection side had a wheel assembly which married to the interior “launch track” along with a spring loaded mechanism which would allow the kart to pass it and then bounce back up making a positive connection with the kart’s launch dog. An E-Stop was placed providing just enough room for the kart to go past the rod, but not so far as to cause whiplash when the rod shoots forward. Sensors along the track and throughout the room communicated with the PLC which Actuated first the launch doors, then E stop and finally the 1 inch valve which allowed air from our 100 gallon repurposed propane tank to be released into the pipe launching the coaster forward.
@@Magictecture That is some awesome engineering! What kind of PLC did you use on the element?
@@bentonshortridge7247 Productivity 1000 PLC from Automation Direct to control the whole ride, including the launch.
@Fieldfilms I was just about to message you 😂
@@Magictecture LOL
Biggest small coaster.
😂
This is cool and all. But, where is the actual POV ride along? I'm sure I'm not the first to ask.
POV is on our channel.
Can you make this in my backyard please
