I came home one night from the pub to be greeted by my Welsh wife who instead of being annoyed with me being out drinking watching the footy with my mates, but who said to me "I heard the most beautiful song tonight by Olivia Newton John and some guy about Emus and kangaroos , I instantly replied Oh The Tenterfield saddler" she said How did you know which song I was talking about? I said All fair dinkum Aussies know it. The next day I was ordered to the music shop to buy the best of Peter Allen CD and this was put on repeat for what seemed like hours by my Welsh missus. Thanks Peter for getting me out of trouble that one time.
It’s Peter’s song, what an incredible performer. But it’s about him. I think Hugh would admit that . Only Someone like Olivia could pull that duo off .I always liked her.I don’t think Peter Allen would object either.
I was in Tenterfield, with my wife, yesterday for two nights at the "Bowlo". Wonderful. One of the best songs. It would be competitive with , say., "Will you still love me me tomorrow?"
The saddlery is indeed still there. I visited yesterday and it is a small museum of sorts run by volunteers. Wonderful song and a great performance by Hugh Jackman.
Tenderfielf Saddler reminds me so much of my parents generation. I meet Peter Allen when he was starting out as part of the Allen Brothers. A star even then.
The Sadderlery is still standing. A memorial for George which was founded by Peter (I've been told). Peter wrote this song on the plane as he travelled to Georges' funeral.
Hugh Jackman I love you but I have just listened to the original thank you for putting this up so that all us Aussies can remember what a talent Peter Allen was. Also you are amazing in whatever you do from Wolverine to kissing boys in the Boy from Oz thank you for being our current great export.
Seeing this now makes me so sad actually, 'cause I went to one of these shows... Thinking about how just a year and a half ago, we were free to go enjoy a show with a whole lot of people. Now we're not even allowed to leave the house without specific reasons 😒

Good on you Hugh, that was a beautiful rendition of a great Peter Allen classic Australian song...
I had the privilege of being there. It still brings tears to my eyes.

Such a great but sad song about so many women who married men that came back broken from the horrors of war .
Great Aussie song performed so well by Hugh.
God bless

Hes kicked on thats for sure. Maybe one day he will return to the Stage. It would be interesting to see what hes learned in all the years away.

You cant sing this song with dry eyes
