Rest In Peace Roger, we miss you.
There are not enough superlatives to describe just how good this is.
R.I.P Roger. Everett. Saxa
Top Ranking!❤
Bless! Pick it up! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Crushed at Roger's untimely passing. But the music will remind me of him forever.
This crowd is livelier than an EDM concert🎉
FKN TUNE ! BRING BACK THE 80’s I was 7 when got my mum to get this for me ❤ RIP RANKIN xxx
No matter how tired I am, when this comes you have to move and I am no longer tired.
The musicianship on this is world class. Incredible.
And the dancing! And Energy. ⚡️
One of the most beautiful man I ever saw dance! Ranking Roger.. US Festival !!! SKA forever baby!
Ska drummers don't get enough credit for the tempo that have to maintain during a song. What a workout, right ?
Oh god dam yea! I struggle after just 4 mins let alone 13 mins !! Creds to him. Amazing drummer .
Well it's not as if he's playing four on the floor tho'
@@JC-zw9vs I hear you. It's not as versatile a style to, say, a Neal Peart or Stewart Copeland. The endurance of speed is what I admire with Ska
drumming.
@@markthompson4953 yeah that's what I was thinking of, watch a Police gig from back in 1970s, with Stewart Copeland playing four on the bass drum on a single pedal for nearly every song. Big hitting, and high cymbals too!
Damn good mechanic as well
RIP Roger, the gift of this music gave us will go on forever.
A gem from my youth....such a great song!! RIP Ranking Roger!!!!
He was only 56! It was too early. But it’s all in Gods hands. I don’t know why this happens.
I hate it when people I admire pass on. Ranking Roger was one those special people. Nobody else like him. A Ska Legend and Icon. Look at the energy he had! He will be missed. It’s like a light going out. And I really like the Police cover in the middle. Sounds great!
RIP Rankin Roger
Don't be so fucking stupid gods hands he was robbed of life simple god the enemy to life.
Can't believe he's gone...
R.I.P. Roger Charlery. 🖤
Ranking Roger.
(21 February 1963 - 26 March 2019)
Heaven just inherited a rude boy, RIP Roger!
It don't get any better than this, soundtrack of my youth.
The bed’s too big without you - loved it.
Jesus…. what a performance 😮
I was in Roger’s company in the autumn of 2018. He didn’t mention a word of his illness. He was pure class.
I don't think he knew about it yet...
He had 2 surgeries for brain tumours and they were announced in January 2019 and was having treatment for lung cancer , so not sure when he had the surgeries or was diagnosed with the cancer x
Yup. I'm absolutely ...stunned. Can't believe Ranking Roger has left us too early.
I fell in love with Roger, Dave Wakeling and The English Beat back in the early 1980's. Two of my first "musician crushes". And .. I still love them both; and the band. Have had the opportunity to see them in concert 5 times now. This band's music: will live on forever. I still get chills when I listen to Mirror in the bathroom .. and other songs. So sad to hear about Roger and the health issues he had been dealing with. He seemed like such a cool, fun guy. He was effortlessly "cool" on stage. I would have been a roadie for the band; if they had let me. With or without ... a paycheck. God Speed ... Ranking Roger. Your fans will always love you. Always !
Susan~ Well said. My Sister's name is Susan( and fellow Beat fan since our High School years)Miss those 80's days. Been to many concerts of my dreams- however, I didn't catch RR or The E B
Much love to Rogers family and friends, the beat were the top of their game and the music is timeless and will continue to be passed on to the next generations. Thanks Roger! 💜
RIP Roger the 2 tone legend. Never forgotten
Mental version! No words! Roger, your legacy will last for ever. You are a legend. I feel blessed to have met you. Love from here in France to where you are now xxx
This is epic. From Roger's opening chat to the drum roll, the crowd going mental, Roger's skanking, the changing of the drummers and Junior's chat. Love Mirror in the Bathroom, Love The Beat, Love Ranking Roger. RIP Mr. Entertainer. Jah Bless
A few gaps along the way, but he kept the essential Beatness of The Beat going for 40 years. Incredible. I saw the RR version half-a-dozen times, and it was always fantastic, and not just as nostalgia, but as good as any band can be.
@@wbertie2604 indeed. This is an astounding version of what for me is their greatest song.
Soooo good, thanks for posting, will definitely be sharing !
OMG! I am 51. Still love love & remember TB. Passed it on to my son who is a music producer. He loves it too. Gutted to hear about Roger's demise. He was a top geezer !!❤️❤️
R.I.P MR Ranking full stop.
A real rude boy LEGEND
🏴🕯🏳
Very lucky to have witnessed 1st hand
No way Fuzz Townsend on the Drums! He was my teacher at college. I had a jam with him a few times incredible drummer!
And now he does cars up for a living on Car SOS. No end to his talents lol.
Thought it was
Memories of Stroud Sub Rooms when this broke. Great night. I heard later that they stopped gigs after this performance because all the bouncing had damadged the building! Thanks for the memories. RIP Roger.......................
RIP Ranking Roger. ❤️ Three years have passed but always in my heart.
Rest in peace Ranking Roger 😢
The saxophone!!!😊
BED’S TOO BIG WITHOUT YOU 😱
OMG !!!!!!
Love these guy❤❤❤
I saw English beat a couple of months ago, Roger wasn't there, and it was great. But nothing like this. He had that fire. A true legend to be missed.
The Specials, Madness and The Selector may have got way more recognition but these guys were well ahead of all of them!
Never fails to kick up! R I P Ranking Roger Bless *
With my hand on my heart I can say The original beat were one of the best bands I have ever seen
A little 12 year old boy dancing all night
A night I will never forget as long as I live
ALWAYS get a lift from Mirror in the Bathroom. Great, great music. R.I.P. Roger.
RIP ROGER
Sad day, blessings to fam and fans worldwide!

The beat and police toured in europe together 1980
r.i.p roger
Greatest Beat song by far. Great version here. RIP Roger
I'm old enough to remember when this track came out in 1980 and I loved it. This live version, 30-something years later, is the mutt's nuts.
Good to see Fuzz from pop will eat itself PWEI on drums.
Restores some great cars too.
Proper brummie roots, music and engineering.
Still to this day one of the greatest live performances ive ever heard so much talent on that stage ;)

This song will live on
Brilliant xx
What a great version!!!
RIP Rankin Roger...true master of SKA
I WAS AT THAT SHOW!! Fucking AMAZING!
I'm punk rock the damned to be precise but it all went hand in hand with ska ®gae all our hero's are fuckin dropping off, now alarm bells ring that all great things sooner or later sadly come to an end and we cling to these great memories of our youth so farewell ranking you were a legend even to us punks... lol RIP
That's what happens, people die. Still, thanks to YT for all it's faults we get to hear stuff like this that before we'd never see unless we were there. This is an amazing performance
@Tyler Vsd1337 I never said that you fuckin prick I have hundreds of vinyl all sorts of bands of which I love I was just saying that the damned are my favourite I'm sure I've forgotten more than you know ya fuckin moron even to make that statement to me is sad.. What's your age???? Because you sound to me like your a juvenile with your immature response to me.. Don't bother replying back pal I'm not gonna get into it with you
Rest In Peace , your music lives on forever !
Greatest Beat song by far
So excited I get to see them play in Richmond next month! It’s going to bring back my 80’s youth and I’m bringing my daughter. Going to be a great time!
glad i saw him live
WOW would've been GREAT to see them live!!
Sounds true to the original Beat vibe. Nice.
Fricking fantastically brilliant thanks again 🇹🇭🏴🇬🇧👍😷🙏❤️
Timeless band, always puts a smile on my face.
Always will remeber !!!!!!!! This is ska!!!!!!!!
My all time favourite ska song, loved The Beat, still have the original vinyl 45 single brought with my pocket money... 50p a week 💋😎
Shades of Uroy there Roger... just LOVE😍😍😍
Such a unique sound
Here's to Rankin Jr. taking the helm and giving us a few more years...

fkin WOW
Love to see a Rankng Roger tribute concert with Dave Wakeling and Ranking Jnr.
Anyone notice the drummer being Fuzz from car sos? I know he’d talked about being in a band on the show but didn’t realise he played with the legend Rankin Roger! Rest in piece
@@nn-ro1lv Yeah, your right.
And Oscar Harrison from ocean colour scene along side him...
I saw that and searched comments to see if it was him . Thanks .
Yes, he played with PWEI, Bentley Rhythm Ace and the Wonderstuff too.
I didn't know Fuzz Townsend was such a good drummer.
Brilliant...great sax Chico.....
RIP Roger ❤
Fuzz Townshend on drums more famous for being on TV now. The beat were my ska band, love the police cover of the beds too big without you
Brings back memories of the 80s.
Ian Holmes..Ah! 👏👏👏💕
Skinhead 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Just brilliant! What a star.
What a jam. Even got The Glorious OM Riff in there. Great band.
I know ! That blew me away too.
I agree though, a fantastic band.
I thought I was imagining it at first! Saw Steve Hillage join them on The Glade stage at Glastonbury. Two of my favourite artists together what a moment!
@@martinhardy5462 nice!! I've been playing 'Green' since 1982 when I first heard it. The drummer Joe Blocker has been a hero ever since.
@getinthevantim most people I don't guess would've known the riff by Gong and Steve Hillage. I see several of yall like Gong AND The Beat. Two great bands you wouldn't expect to year in the same sentence or song!
@MrDickyBingo wow I heard that too, but could it have been a coincidence? A similar riff! It's a pretty unique riff so I'm think it IS the same riff they're playing. At the same time, that riff could almost be played without having heard it before because the riff is only about 4 notes, but whatever, both totally different bands, the Beat, and Gong are great!
Bizar excellent performance.
Forever now !
high energy!
Too much chaos.
Seems everyone is calling everyone else a narcissist these days. The Beat wrote a song about it when Narcissus was merely a Greek parable. Hard to believe that anyone as lively as Roger could die. Lucky he will live on forever with his righteous ranking rocksteady music
RIP roger
Peace brother. Top tune. Much respect ❤️. Love forever xxxxxxxx.
RIP
R.I.P Roger.
Top brummie rip Rodger 🙏
