Just bought this saw (before seeing this video) for a garden room build I’m planning in my new house. Very glad on my purchase. Looking forward to the table saw review as I’m thinking of getting one.
I hot one from Amazon was unboxed but still new i paid £68 then sold the blade that came with it for £20 so i basically got it for £48 unreal 😁 so far a great saw extremely well made and sturdy, i wish it had ends for the guide though that thing is sharp, anyone looking for some great deals should look for amazon returns can get some proper bargains for a DIYer like me it's amazing tbh
I initially bought this saw to cut steel as it was designed for. But I am installing stair treads. I needed the track. It took an hour to get a straight edge. I had to trim the sliders, pads and guide edge. Overall it appears to be a good buy.
Good video, most of the reviewers did not recommend it. It is a circular saw on a track and not a real track-saw. How would it compare to the other low-cost plunge saws like the Einhell and the Draper/Excel/Triton..?
Given the price I think straight up not recommending it isn’t fair. You’re right, it’s technically a circular saw on a track. But for most people that’s all they need, usually for cutting 4x8ft boards ect. If you’re say, a kitchen fitter cutting down kickboards or cupboards where the finish is very important and you’re business depends on the quality of the cut. In those cases the Mafell/ Festol is the way to go. As for how it compares to the other brands, not sure. I haven’t used them but will look to do a comparison in the future.
Great review, and I was also very impressed by it going through the sleeper. I've often found 'budget' tools merely quote the depth of cut available from the blade, but the tool itself simply doesn't have the horsepower to actually operate at that depth. You mention that you're happy with the cuts, by any chance did you put an engineers square on the cut to see if it was actually ninety degrees? The saw is only £77 on Amazon at the time of writing this, so it seems even more of a bargain to me.
I didn't on the oak, because that wasn't square to start with. But I've used this plently since and have been very happy with the cut quality and squareness. I'm pretty sure the new saw/ track come out later this year (June/ July) so if you can wait I would suggest it.
I have this saw (this Christmas) I have an old Makita track and it does fit, I believe Mak & Fes are compatible so should fit on both but I have not tried the festool one. No riving knife, open face and no plunge function, I did not know this when I got it. If I did I would have got the one from Lidel (see Proper DIY rev.) @@sumeraybuilds
The problem is that this track is complete trash. It comes in multiple short pieces and there is no way to make them actually straight. The whole purpose of a track saw is a perfectly straight cut. The only way to get an accurate cut with this track is to fuck with it for at least an hour and screw the track to a piece of plywood after you've pulled a string along it to make sure you got it aligned just right. In other words, after you make a track, this track is not a bargain
Same here, I love mine and don't have any accuracy issues. I do wish it could plunge and had a riving knife though but it serves me well.@@thesantiagoprince1
I agree, that was the main reason I was looking at buying this saw, most circular saws do not come with the vacuum port. In addition I noticed that the brake is very slow to stop the blade, all of that on top of a brushed motor, it's going to be a pass for me even at that price point.
This isn't great as a wood saw, it is outstanding as a metal saw. I just made a fire pit out of 3/8" plate steel and this saw never bogged down, and easily cut through the metal. The blade is pretty much shot, but I made no less than 30 cuts through thick steel
I tried their new one on metal and it did a great job. It also worked really well on all the OBS and plywood for my workshop so I'd recommend it for timber too!

The new tracks are about 1 million times better! I did a video on them if you want to check it out :D

Glad to hear it! 👍
Excellent job very informative but quick question for you if you don't mind. What is the wireless Sony microphone you are using?
Oh they're just headphones, nothing special 😂
@sumeraybuilds 😂😂 no it's not. I see it in the last of your vid you are holding it in your hand.
Sony ECM-W3S is what I think they are.

Like your content, thanks. Not in the market for a track saw. Take care & stay safe.
Thanks Doug! Appreicate your regular feedback. 😃
Will this saw fit on a Makita or festool track?
I don't think it will

great review Jack. really enjoyed the video.
Much appreciated!
i got the same make drop saw,and it great was only 70 pound.
Very nice, do you recommend it? Considering do a review on it in the future
Yeah i need one of these i think
Do it!
I can't undo the washer to remove the blade
I think there's a button you need to press to lock it in whilst you turn the nut.
Is it cheaper than Wen?
Yes I believe it is!
How well does it do with plunge cut?
It's not actually a plunge saw, it's a circular saw on a track. So it doesn't plunge.
Ive always been surprised at how pricey these kind of saw are . Accuracy comes from the trach - a strip of plastic - not the saw . Its a bargain buy !
Yes I think so too!

It's not plastic!
I have this and its aluminium alloy.
Very solid piece.
Very happy with it

That thing looks pretty damn good for how cheap it is.
Agreed, this one shocked me for sure!
Its apalling to see that much dust with the port on
I find it acceptable given its price
