It really was an amazing lineup. The 1050 ti was amazing as a budget card, and Nvidia hasn't topped the 1080 ti's launch STILL after 7 years. I also never had a 1070, but I knew way too many people that did and that was also a solid card.
I ordered my 1080 TI on launch day, and have yet to find a reason to get a new card, and I drive a 1440p display. I want a card that will last, so it will need to be top of the line, and I thought $700 was steep back in 2017…
I'm still running the Titan Xp since 2018. I use it for OpenCL software development where only VRAM capacity and bandwidth are important. There is not too many viable upgrades from this card that offer more and faster VRAM. - RTX 2060-2080 Ti - less VRAM - RTX 3050-3080 - less VRAM - RTX 3080 Ti - 66% faster VRAM, but same capacity, so not really an upgrade - RTX 3090 - 2x VRAM capacity at +71% higher bandwidth, but 350W and no 2-slot cards available anymore - still best option - RTX 3090 Ti - super expensive, too much power, doesn't fit in PC case - RTX 4060-4070 Ti - _much slower_ VRAM, overpriced - RTX 4080/4090 - super expensive, too much power, don't fit in PC case - RX 6800 XT-6950 XT - slower VRAM with poor efficiency in practice - RX 7900 XT/XTX - more and slightly faster VRAM (slower than 3090), but also 3-slot coolers and power guzzling The oversized 3-/4-slot coolers and 450W inefficiency on the recent gamicg cards suck. And "professional" cards with larger VRAM capacity and 2-slot coolers cost a fortune.
For the best combination of power and efficiency I discovered the sweet spot with the RTX A2000. I picked one up recently for a SFF build and am impressed at what this card can do at only 70W.
on the flipside: while maybe not worth buying for a new system, I feel like pascal cards are still very much worth holding on to. which is insane, considering the age of the platform still holding on to my 1070. it just runs everything i need it to. for fps or esport titles Im fine with lowering settings to easily max out my monitors 140hz refresh rate, and for rpgs im fine with 50-60fps, but now have access to higher settings at even 2k. and its power consumption is still in line with, or flat out less than many of the more modern cards
I love your voice and presentation style. I bought an used 1080ti for the vram and the 80 status however it is failing (PCIe x1 and buggy). Yeah, I'm mostly considering new GPU in the future now.
I HATED how the 10 series looked when it came out. But damn does the Titan look good to me now. It's also just as quiet as the rx 6600, surprisingly. Especially since it's a blower style.
RDR2 looks good at 1080p if you disable TAA and enable msaa. (You need to fix shadow flickering with one option in settings, don't remember what exactly but it was something like Full screen space occlusion)
I live in the Israel and high-end Pascal cards are dirt cheap here in second hand markets, especially compared to the newer mid-tiers which are usually way more expensive. A 3060 ti is 300$ second-hand while the comparable 1080ti is 150$. AMD prices are slightly better than new NVIDIA, but not by much.
lol I bought a 6600xt pulse for 135$ from a miner a few months after ETH whent POS, it was in a great condition as he used filters in the mining room and only used the cards less than a year, sorry I didn't buy a few of them as I didn't see that kind of price again. Using it now in my second PC. Been looking for a deal on a Titan xp for a collection but not willing to pay 200$ + international shipping and import taxes so 300$+, will keep looking.
Thoughs on the RTX 3060 12GB? It has serviceable basic raytracing, easily overclocks to match the 6600XT & 1080TI, and often appears for $225 or even as low as $190-$200 if you're super lucky.
Pascal is one of the most overhyped generations of gpu. Its not even that good. I remeber getting a gtx1080ti and it was pretty disappointing. The ampere 3080/3080ti and 3090 were the first decent jump in performance since the hd7970 id say.
I just bought a new pc (my jurassic 8yo machine finally died beyond recovery) and I am really happy with the prices I got (most of the stuff was bought on sale and all brand new)! I had a 1080TI and it's kinda wild my brand-new mid-range gpu will be drawing LESS power and doing waaaay more for basically everything. I will also be lowering the power on my GPY a little bit because of what I read about overheating in certain games, so... Yeah, I am using way less power and doing way more :O
Pascal is, and will stay, one of the best platforms Nvidia put out

I see them being collectable for retro builds later on in the decade never mind in the 2030s.
Nah man, 3050 Ti 4GB Mobile is the best gpu

I still think Pascal can't be beaten on power efficiency, I've had a 1080 undervolted down to 135w before, awesome architecture 😎
have you ever heard about ampere
@@no.nomoreidontcareI thought the stories of Ampere only legend!

I'm using a gtx 1070 right now and it's serving me well. My friend has got a 1080 and he's loving it too. pascal is a great generation.

I have no intentions of getting rid of my XP, even with a 2080 super sitting on my desk for a future video haha
Been looking for a good LTT replacement, this channel is the closest I've gotten so far. Thanks for the videos! :D

Man it looks amazing in 4k haha. I didn't notice much shadow flickering, but did see DoF issues with FSR
Regarding Blender Render you can use AMD HIP or AMD HIP RT for GPU rendering, my RX 6600 XT only take about 40s (AMD HIP) and 30s (AMD HIP RT)
HELL YES NEW UPLOAD LESSGO!
Picked up a 5700XT for $130 on eBay, and it's genuinely insane!
FSR should work on Pascal GPUs.
I couldn't get it to work personally on the Titan
@@aChairLeg Works on my old 1080ti.
yeah I use it on my 1080ti, Hogwarts legacy runs nicely 1080p maxed settings 😁
Weird it hasn't worked on any game I've tried on two systems. Must be something I'm doing wrong

It's actually well known now that if you're building a PC for 3D modelling, you generally tend to avoid AMD, as it oddly performs worse than Nvidia
That's good to know, I thought I was going crazy for a little bit

Really solid card, IMO. I prefer my Titan xpp since I don't pay for my power and don't use RTX lol
6600 xt better for this budget
Pascal is not dead yet. NVIDIA still supports the 900 series. I guess Pascal have 3 years until support drops
I'll most likely keep my XP until then tbh
Got a titan x pascal on eBay for $150. It's faster, more memory, and half the cost of a 4060.
I have a RX 6600xt, it does the job...
