The Original Road Rash game that started the series on the Sega Genesis.
I took the approach of waiting until the bike simply couldn't compete before each bike upgrade. This gives best chance of having the best bikes by level 5 and you will need them. Buying each bike as soon as you can afford them as by the time you get to level5, youll need to make a lot of money and only scoring low placements so would take forever to win level5.
Even on the best bike, the game seems a little unforgiving and really makes you work for getting to the front of the pack. Their isn't much of an ending to this game. once you beat level 5, it just loops so you can do it again and can potentially play forever making money you cant spend on anything after the final bike. That said, most of the Road Rash games do this and never really end.
The Amiga is the odd one out however with a more appropriate ending to the game. I also prefer the music in the Amiga version and its also the first road rash game I ever played so maybe i'm biased or just spot on Smile -

Gaming in this era was an amazing time to be a kid...because of the time that came before it and the time we live in now....you realize how lucky you were to grow up with this stuff. If you were born in the mid 80s...you were a lucky child.
Lol 1986 right here been truly bless
I still remember buying mega drive games from car boot sales back in the day
I miss those days
I was born in 1967. I was able to experience Pong, Atari, Odyssey, Intellivision, ColecoVision, Commodore Vic-20, Commodore-64, 🍎Apple IIe🍎, Nintendo, Sega, TurboGraphx-16, and so on and so on. Every one of them were able to fascinate you in some way. Whether it was the first time you've seen something so new and unique, or the graphics, the sound, the possibility of having an arcade in your home, crazy characters like Mario, Sonic, E.T., Bonk, or just the chance to play a sport, or race a car, or be a Superhero, or climb a building, rescue a Princess? Each one from every era had its own unique experience and style that made you love it! I have been a gamer since Pong. I got a Pong game for a Christmas 🎄 present 🎁 back in 1972-73. Then an Atari. I never owned an Intellivision or a ColecoVision but I did get a Nintendo for Christmas later on, and then I started working more and I bought my Sega Genesis, then the Sega Master System from a neighborhood kid. Then the Super Nintendo and it just kept going. The 70's had some really great times. Saturday 🌄🌅🌄🌄Saturday🌄🌄mornings🌄🌄🌅🌄 were always special. Cartoons! Cartoons! And more CARTOONS!!The 80's were my teenage years. Early 80-81 was 7th and 8th grade. 82 was my Freshman year in high school AND my first Heavy Metal Concert! Mötley Crüe/Ozzy Osborne, Styx was in there, then Twisted Sister/Iron Maiden, and after that I was hooked on two things. 🎸🥁🎚🎛🎤Concerts🎸🥁🎚🎛🎤 and 🕹🎮🕹Video🎮Games🕹🎮🕹. I can say this, everyone thinks that their era was the best, and for them I understand why. It's YOUR TIME. Honestly for me I have some incredible memories from the 70's, the 80's, and the 90's. Anyone who grew up during those years had some really great experiences with so many incredible things. 😊
100%
Experiencing nes right up through gc/ps2/xbox was magical
The songs on Road Rash are still awesome.
I wish someone would update the soundtrack to more than 16(?)bit
@@CasualWatcher279 there are metal versions, which would be the closest thing to a modernisation
@@CasualWatcher279 Feel free to check out my Road Rash Soundtrack remakes :)
I came from the future to tell you that they are still awesome 😁
Songs?
No....
but tracks... I can with tracks lol
This game was so beautifully satisfying. Knocking other players off their bikes or into cars. That rear-view look of them falling. So cathartic...
😆 Yes! Sometimes, I'd let the others catch up, just to kick/punch them off their bikes! I couldn't help myself.
@@theprettyguardian8161 I loved wrapping the chain our their necks and the baton was great too
Of course, defending yourself is always allowed. Playing clean without starting dirty play, better though.
Love to see’em go Flyin
Ah, back when EA made solid titles worthy of play. I'll never forget my time as a child playing this legend of a game.
soiooooooo Battlefield, Titanfall, Dead Space, Mass Effect are all garbage titles not worthy of playing?
Yeah they aren't.
SuperBest Fantasy yea you're bugging.
Opinions are a thing.
NovaPrime1869 Titanfall 2 is arguably one of the best fps games released in recent years.
I'm a 34 years old woman and I love this game so much!!
33 year old man & I also loved this game as a kid!
I'm 50 years old black and homosexual transgender muslim I love myself so much!
44 years old and just bought this game again. As in literally today. Played it as a kid like crazy
Legend of a game... 1991 me and my mate were 21 and spent weeks ploughing through this game.. Got the insanely fast bike at the end.. Took about 15 attempts between us to complete the very last race... Got across the finish line and the cartridge crashed.. 😂 We were devastated
You beat the game, literally.
EPIC!
This is the best Road Rash game in my opinion
Why?
Yeah I was 8 years old in second grade back in 1992. I remember my dad used to play it with me for a while. Back then the games didn’t save. I remember playing it for 3 days straight and leaving the console on while I went to school. That way I wouldn’t lose my progress. I had gotten the bike that reaches 160mph after some serious playing. On the third day I came home from school, threw my bag and quickly started playing. Not long after that my dad comes home from work and plays for a little while. All of a sudden we had a power outage (which back on the early 90’s were quite common in Brazil). I fucking balled my ass out and I remember my dad saying don’t cry over this bullshit. This is just a fucking game. I was like “but dad, we worked so hard and now it’s gone” he replied this is for you to have fun, not to cry. Little did I know, but I learned a very important lesson that day. Sometimes in life all your work can be squashed in a matter of one second, don’t fucking cry, pick ur self up, dust yourself off and keep working at it. You’ll get there some day. Great nostalgic memories from my childhood.
Can you imagine how insane this would be, if you could play online!
ikr so crazy
14:37 that was truly an amazingly skilful move to get 1st place 0.1 seconds ahead of the 2nd place racer.
And at 1.34.15, amazingly Game Genie code not to crash on the car...😂😂😂😂😂😂
Lmfao
Seems more like luck 😂
I remember playing this with a mate and going crazy when he insisted on pulling over for the cops when it was his turn 😂
If released today you'd get 1 extra bike to upgrade and 2 maps. The rest would come with the season pass.
FOR A LOW PRICE OF $19.99
modern EA in a nutshell
Only 4 years later you'd have to pay to play and then buy the bikes with real money and the character even the weapons would be bought with real money :(
Real talk that's why I dont buy much these days
I dont buy games often but I would buy a remake of this even with the ea style scam idc. This and ivan Stewart off road racing. And skitchin lol that game was awesome!
30 years later and the soundtrack still slaps
I remember playing this game a lot when I was child. It will always be the game of my childhood.
Kilmer Batman69
Yeah this and sonic
Such nostalgia. My aunt and i played this during thanksgiving every year. gosh i miss those days
Nothing like groovin on Road Rash tunes. Race on.
As was most Sega titles!
Wow.. I'm getting so nostalgic. Loved this game :3
So much nostalgia, used to play this game with my late dad
Natasha is why I'm a speed demon to this day
Natasha was always the friendly one in both games funnily enough
I would deliberately seek out Natasha to club her so she would trash talk me in the cut scenes.
I remember in the 90s trying to walk on the cross streets in this game. I spent way too much time on foot exploring.
This game still holds up... i loved the ai. it was one of the first games were the characters treated you differently based on how you treated them. i loved it.
Yup I distinctly remember bullying Biff.. ...couldn't stand his cocky ass!!! I'd purposely slow down after I knocked him down just to drop him again. He usually tried to club me upside the head after that lol. If you started getting rough with Natasha she would have a nasty message for you before the race.
That's so funny dude my friend and me were talking although we didn't hang out as kids we specifically remember biff was our target of choice for bullying too LOL
I fucking love the 16 bit era.
this is so nostalgic to me i grew up playing Road Rash 1 and 2 on my Sega Genesis remember beating my first circuit such a awesome feeling growing up
What a classic game! Played with my dad a lot and now that he’s not longer here this is such a wonderful memory of him. Thank you!!
Nothin' like hanging out at Pops place after a race, drinkin' Dud Dry...
30:59
These games were so simple and fun to play!
Lol, at 1:57:14 he got 2nd place. That's so bad.
This guy obviously hasnt figured out that in the whole race he needs to be in the middle of the road as long as possible with as high speed speed as possible. This will give him a high average-speed. He will easily drive past helldog.
Ah man! that intro game music! SO many great memories i would play this for hours back in the day on my megadrive. The nostalgia is HUGE!
I remember getting a Spectrum 128K for my birthday. I thought it was the bee's knee's, then Gamesmaster started on Channel 4 and this was the first game I saw on the show. I remember seeing the difference in graphic and animation quality. It was like I'd just been thrown through time lol.
These were the true gaming days, games made to be fun with no loot box, or pass bs. NHL and John madden foot ball rocked too.
I wish they put this on the Sega classics, can't belive they did not, this is a classic game, spent many hours on this in the 90's
A bike going onto grass in a video games is THE most 90s sound ever
Man, so many memories with this game. One of my favorites for the Sega!!!
So many late nights fighting with the motorcycle cops, lol
This makes me feel old ,i loved this back in the day
Gen Z grew up with the PS2 most likely
Twisting and leaning in your seat on the corners and crossing the finish on your arse.
Classic.
They seriously need to do a Road Rash film. They adapted the Need For Speed series to film. I think it would be awesome as long as they don't use too much CGI.
I played this game in 1994, the best summer and the best hundreds of hours wasted ever!
It took me weeks to finish the game back in the days on the mega drive. This person did it in 2 hrs 🤦🏻♂️
Running to the finish line never gets old 😂
I was obsessed🖤 with this game when I was in middle school. Great times.👍👍
Would always try and protect Natasha and go after the clowns that took her out lol
Actually that is what you have to do.
Yeah she's your girlfriend in the game
Biff was the only guy I could remember. Mainly because you could punch him at the start of the race and pretty much "kill" him as he'd never show up again.
I only remember Gunther!! Cause we use to call him Gunther the bum hunter. Sorry to comment on your post....just having a nostalgia moment
@112447626556442679163 Hey no prob. the other reason we remembered "Biff" was because when you hit him and knocked him off the bike, it was a *BIFF* sound he made x3
He's the show off in Pts 1 & 2😆
Don't forget he has the club too i be snatching it from him lol
That was great, thanks for the video. You're really good at this game!
Baddest track in tha game = 1:43:42
Classic game & classic soundtrack!
Lmao when I was young I use to play this and get scared when the police came and give up the remote to my aunt
Eagles24 I use to run away 😂
I used to play this with my parents. Great memories. Thank you.
Nostalgia overload I have great memories playing Road rash games with my cousins and friends 👍👍👍👍👍
You know you're old when you remember these graphics blowing your mind. Just hearing the music again I can taste the cheap, store brand cherry cola I would consume by the gallons while playing this.
Back to my childhood, love it!! Specially the music.
Memories! This game was one of the reasons I fell In love with bikes!
Some of the best old school music in gaming. Sonic games are still number 1
oh how i miss those days playing this game.
Memories.
them was some mighty fine skills you got there bow!
Wow the nostalgia hit me hard
Thanks for the vídeo..
Really good to remember the old times
Nice to see this game again, I never actually got to play the Mega Drive version - I bought the Amiga version from a friend at school sometime during 1993.
This game rocked! Enough said!
Back in the day when EA was an innovative force for good in the games industry, what a long time ago that was. One of my favourite games on the Mega Drive.
Anyone remember the satisfying *thud* when you'd ramp off of a sleeping cow in the road?
Or the rage when an on coming car came exactly side to side to another car going your direction and you couldn't do anything but crash?
Memories
That last race was epic 👍👌😎
+Phil Brown all music in game!
agreed it was indeed, lol Fuck I miss this game, especially RR3D
This brings me back to my early childhood days. Good times!
Aww man I loved this game!
Great to know it's not only me who used to try and make myself wipe out at the end of every race.
I am not a Penguin became a goal of mine.
Every race.
Yes, my brother and my friends used to do that too!
Takes me back to my childhood playing on the Sega Genesis
I remember having rage issues with this game, I went through a couple controllers malfunctioning haha good times.
bro you're killin it! never went that long without crashing! hahah
Bringing back All the childhood memories 😁
The rashers in this game seem to be a lot less aggressive than in Road Rash 2 and 3, but it's still an awesome game none the less. :) I love the music for the Sierra Nevada stage. Way to go with how you rode your bike throughout this playthrough by the way.
3 seconds into the race and dude gets knocked out!! lol..
and right after Natasha had warned him about the other racers being thugs hahaa
This game is a work of art!
This game used to piss me off to no end...gotta love 90's games
yeah, I remember that frustration, you'd got easily in the 1st with a fast expensive bike, and just kept riding safely 'till the race end, but then suddenly out of nowhere, you'd just fall off the bike, or a car or a cow would appear and you'd got smashed against 'em... this game was a real case of love/hate ... good ol' times
@@CarlosOliveira-jp3yx Fucking cows.
"I also prefer the music in the Amiga version"
the music in the Amiga version sounds like a generic side scroller out of an 8-bit system, dunno what the hell you were smoking when you wrote that lol thanks for the vid too
Love love love this game. Actually I thought about it this morning g and went to my garage and hot out my Mega Drive and this game. Classic.
OMFG THE SOUND TRACK BRINGS ME BACK!!!!!
Loved this game so much!
Great job, game gets real tough at those higher levels.
Lol I remember this game back in the day made me laugh at times hysterically trying to watch out for vehicles when jumping over climbs and then running into cars if you were unlucky then having to run to your bike some distance while trying not to get run over LOL
Lol same! Some of the best memories ever man.
The way that track flowed was awesome.
the melodies of this game never left my memories
@ 13:11 epic kick! hahaha nice one
1:30:08 The running man dance. Now that's what I call finishing in style.
Im a 51 yr old guy n still love playing games even the old ones great times n memories of still playing these games nowadays
omg - that game ruled!!
Me too. I might not have gotten far in the game, but it was always a blast to play!
I love how you avoid all of the absolute bullshit the last race throws at you until you eventually win, then end up somersaulting over a car and end up crushed to death beneath its wheels.
This is the best game in all history
I'm still wondering why this hasn't been remade for current gen consoles.
EA is not risking rebooting Road Rash that haven't been heard since 20 years. New Generation gamers won't know about Road Rash.
mcstyle24 but why that did not carry on with the series like what they did for the need for speed series? Oh maybe soon the nfs series will be discontinued just like road rash.
Because Road Rash 1 and Road rash 2 were very successful sales then later Road Rash 64 and other Road Rash on PS1 was not popular and lost a lot of sales. EA decided not to risk losing profit.
hope this help
theres a game coming out on steam dont know about console but its called Road Redemption dont think its like a direct sequel or anything but it basically road rash, you should check it out
mcstyle24 what a load of shit.
That ending is hilarious. He crashes into the car, rolls over it, and gets ran over.
I remember playing this at my Grandad’s place when I visited him in the UK.
It only took me a couple minutes to find it after searching for “Old Motorcycle Games” but instantly recognized it by the ability to punch other riders and police bikes, and also those comments from other racers before the start of each race.
best video game sound track.
My cousin and I played this game all the time back in the day, it remains one of my favorites on Sega..
I finally beat this game today
+LewisTheIndispensable I wish the do another Road Rash game
+Ty Marshall Apparently they were but I haven't heard anything since
LewisTheIndispensable same here Road Rash was my 5th PS1 game I played
+Ty Marshall The PS1 version was OK, but matchless to Road Rash 2
LewisTheIndispensable true
One of the best genesis games. The soundtrack is also amazing.
I used to love this game when i was a kid lol
Ah...memories of being 14 with not a care in the world, now im off to my soul sucking dead end job with a boss who needs clubbed like in the game
Well grow some balls and do something about it!!! Only 1 person can change your life n that's YOU!!
I always loved how the Road Rash games got the parallax background effect backwards.
If player don't attack her she will never go against the player.. She is also say positive words in comments if you don't hit her. And if the player jokingly beat her teeth off she shows him that she also has a good sense of humor and try to attack with the club
Que nostalgia irmão!! Bateu uma saudade da minha infância agora. 😔
This used to be my favourite game when I was really young. I got to Level 5 but I don’t think I completed any of the races as I kept getting wrecked and the tracks were so long and the bikes were fast. Came here to see what the ending of this game was... didn’t realise you got to bone Natasha at the end haha
Soundtrack on another level & insane playability. I got physically sick from playing it too much 😂
The music on this game will always be my favorite, dude deserved an award for this shit
Used to play this on my dads old mega drive when I was a kid. Must have been playing it as a 5-6 year old in 2003-2004 ish.
Still play the theme music working on my real racing motorbike in the garage to this day
