Glad to hear the news y'all are sticking around, enjoy the videos, very educational. Actually saw you at the boat show at the Mooring party friday night, didn't have an opportunity to say hi but hopefully see you on the water with my new 42 leopard coming in next month. Regards

To bad we didn’t get a chance to connect at the boat show. Congratulations on your new L42! We’ll see you out on the water! 😁👍

Nice video! Glad to hear you're keeping the boat! As a recreational rock climber, I'm going to strongly suggest that you use a "follow-through" knot when connecting your bosun's chair to a line. Most rock climber's use a "Figure-8 follow-through" (typically with a "double fisherman's" knot as a backup) because it's very easy to tie and very easy to have someone else check for correctness. A follow-through version of the bowline is also possible, but it can be more difficult to tie and more difficult to check for correctness. The biggest downside of the figure-8 follow-through is that it can sometimes be difficult to untie. I've never had to cut a rope, but it occasionally takes me a couple of minutes to work the knot loose. I'm not sure that's entirely a bad thing 😉

Ha! Fantastic! I am sooo happy you are keeping the boat. I’m working towards buying one in the future and I WANT YOURS. :) I was disappointed when you were selling it before I was ready. Now I can be happy because I know it’s still being maintained by a perfectionist while I slowly gather funds…. 👍🏼
If the universe cooperates, then just as I’m ready to buy…. you will be ready to sell. :) On another note…. we enjoy your vids and look forward to seeing more. Thanks for creating them.

Hi Tony! We decided to keep the boat as there’s still so much to see and do, so the adventures of OliLuki continue! 😁. That said we will certainly continue to care for her in every way and we’ll stay in touch as we get closer to the time of selling 😜👍
Thank you for the kind comments on the videos and for coming along on the journey with us. More videos are on the way! 😁

Always love your videos! I was shocked you’d be selling your boat aft just 2 years! I can’t believe your confidence to offer lessons and consulting with just 2 years since you started sailing with a hired captain to “show you the ropes”! Sailing must be really easy! By the way, did you intend to run the line around the winch backwards during your demo?

Hi Chuck, we just got really excited about other life opportunities that came along but we happy to keep the boat for few more years. There is no right from wrong, only what is right for you. When you live on your boat full time for 2 years, 24/7, you learn things on the boat fast and it becomes second nature to share your own experiences and passion about the boat lifestyle. We had some amazing experiences but also some very, very scary experiences as well, so we just want to share with anyone who wants to learn what is like living on the boat full time before they make the big purchase. It is not for everyone and many new boat owners sell their boat within the first year. Not so much about teaching how to sail but what is really like, the good, bad and everything in between. Hope this helps, Very best ~Maki and the gang

Only yesterday I was just wondering about you guys and wondering if all was safe and ok. And today, here you are. Great news that you're keeping the boat, it would have been tragic to have sold it after you've really only just started in your adventures. So great seeing the boys again. Little superstars in their own right. I love the way they think together and I took back the part when they're discussing languages and their fav word, to watch it again, as it was too adorable for words. Keep safe you guys, and all the best for your future adventures. We look forward to more vids.

Hi David, thank you for staying on the journey with us. We’ve all enjoyed traveling with the boat and there’s still so much to see and do. The boys are loving it and you should be seeing more of them in upcoming videos! Maybe by then they’ll be speaking Japanese! 😜😂

Praise God!!! you listened to that still small voice inside of you. So many people move on to another adventure before the one their on isn't over with yet. Sometimes it had just begun and they miss out on all the blessings that God had planned for them.. People just get board to easy and they miss out on the joy of the journey their on at the time...
I'm sure looking forward to the many videos to come... Much love and prayers may y'all be blessed in Jesus name... BBE..

So Glad your'e continuing.. Even as a non-sailor I like the interesting direction it's going. It's amazing to see how the boys are growing. Still home-schooling I hope. There's so much unhelpful craziness in some aspects of education they will benefit far more from being educated by those that love them rather than a 'hired-hand' teacher who may have an agenda different to yours.

Wow! This is amazing news! We were sad when you announced you were selling your boat, but this just made my day! We're headed to the Annapolis Boat Show in a few weeks and then will be down in Florida visiting my parents this winter. A charter you say? Can't wait to hear more info on this. Oh, and another great video! :)

Great to see you guys still sailing and being on the boat. Your videos are always so useful thanks. Quick question on you electric lewmar winches. I think they will only be single speed. Are they fast enough when raising the main compared to Harken dual speed?? Thanks

    • @sailingsvoliluki6938
      @sailingsvoliluki6938  2 года назад +1

Hi Richard, thank you for the kind comment. Regarding the Lewmar winches. I would say it would be nice to have a faster or dual speed winch at the start of raising the main sail to be able to clear the batons of the lazy jacks faster however once we are clear of the lazy jacks I’d still raise the sail at a lower speed just in case anything gets caught on standing rigging etc as the winch will NOT stop and will eventually rip, tear or break something.

Great to see you back! Saw the boat on the hard at JC... great to see it back in action. I have a new Leopard coming (53PC)- the big change I see, if you look back at your "outfitting cost" video's, which I loved... pricing today is 100% - 1500% higher for the same items. Its crazy.

Congratulations on the 53PC! That is a gorgeous yacht! Yes with all the global supply chain shortages, prices on pretty much everything has gone up,up,up! Hang in there, …before you know it you’ll be out on the water. See you out there! 👍👍

It’s not as hard as I think most people make it out to be. The sailing part I think is easier than learning weather, how to read it and the go or no go decision making that goes into cruising. IM if you have questions and soon we’ll have a website up with details on our educational charters and consultations! Thanks for coming along on the adventure…..there’s more to come!

McLub sailkote is ok but its not great for a cruising boat as its made for racing boats and is supposed to be reapplied more frequently than a cruiser would ever bother doing - also its WAY over priced. Elmers Slideall is less than half the price for a better product. However, the truth is, years ago an old sailor told me Turtle wax (the car wax product) was just as good and even cheaper and he's right and I've used it ever since.

Hi Adam! Great to hear from you and thank you for your comment and great suggestions! I apply Sailkote once a month but you’re so right, way overpriced! I’ll definitely give the Turtle Wax and Elmer’s Slideall a try. Thank you!

Hey Andy don't damage the weathervane it's $400, how funny, you think maybe Andy be careful you don't fall! I would not depend on someone promising to catch you...

Going up the mast is not my favorite thing to do but I’ve been up there now dozens of times. Nice view if you don’t look down 😂. Have had to replace the weathervane twice 🙄 but all good now. I don’t trust a single line going up so I clip into a second line using climbing gear as a backup.
