Love the way you guys keep the boat neat and tidy, know its a new boat, but obviously you take pride in looking after it. Just one small thing when showing of your gas bottles area, not a big fan of bungy cords securing them. Know you can get custom built cradles built, also tie down straps are much stronger. Also with your cushions and anything that has a buttons, a couple of cans of silicone spray, are handy once a month to stop them rusting up or seizing.
Y'all definitely put a lot of thought into your options. The only thing I (personally) don't like about the majority of production boats is the sharp corners. It would be so easy for the big companies to do rounded corners. Amazing new Cat though ❤️🤙
Hi Curt, We agree with you and perhaps it doesn't come across on the videos but our counters all have rounded corners. I have been on some other cats that have crazy sharp and pointy corners and Mama Mia! they hurt when the poke you in the back!
I just watched some videos on a couple of cats for sale, and that was an issue on both of them. One was a Fontaine Pajot, and it had sharp corners throughout the salon. I can't remember the 2nd one, but their solution was to round the corners. This is great except the rounded them over vertically. So now you lose precious counter space, and it's easier for things to slide off! I really don't know what they where thinking! If anything, you want a lip around the edges. Sorry for rambling. ..
My family and I have fond memories of St. Michaels. It was the favorite spot to visit by my Grandmother and her second husband (Uncle Bill as we used to call him). Uncle Bill LOVED the sea and loved St. Micheals. There was a special restaurant there that we always went to for lunch or dinner after touring around the area and the shops. It still looks amazing and beautiful and I greatly appreciate all the photography and aerial views! I believe the area was hit bu a hurricane or tropical storm a few years back so glad to see it is looking great and no worse for the wear from the storm. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home. Such a beautiful boat and all so well organized and in order. Maki has done such a great job decorating the interiors, its simple and welcoming and really adds to the overall beauty of the space. She has done an excellent job with the galley as well and I know she is a wonderful host and makes amazing dishes to share with everyone on board. I greatly appreciate her filmography, very professional, and her excellent editing skills are top-notch. Andy, I am impressed with your knowledge and seamanship of your boat. I remember that at the start there was alot to learn and get a handle on. Now you are beginning to look like a seasoned mariner and have a great grasp of your vessel. I am sure the boys love learning from their Father and appreciate this opportunity of a grand adventure of a lifetime. God Bless you and your family and I pray you all are safe from all the storms this year as well as this pandemic nonsense going around. Hi Michael, What a beautiful post.......thank you. St. Michaels is a beautiful place, still. The people are so kind and the charm of the entire place makes you feel like you're in a very different, a very special place. So glad you liked Part 1 of the interior video. Part 2 is coming up. Our goal has always been to share "real and relevant" information for those that are planning to do a sailing trip of their own or just so everyone watching can go away with a little more information. When we were still in CA, Maki and I talked about the general feel and vibe we wanted on our boat and did our interior shopping in CA.....things like pillows, bed sheets, towels, kitchen items, plants etc. It just made it that much easier to ship all of it to Florida for the arrival of our boat. We had tons of other things to buy for the boat in particular (ie boat hooks, cleaning supplies, etc parts etc.). Editing, Maki has hit it out of the park! She studied before the boat arrived to learn the basics of editing and filmmaking and together we work hard to "tell a story". My time as a Story Department Manager at Disney helps here but Maki does a fantastic time editing adding B-Roll and effects, lighting etc. She's working really hard to make each video special in its own way. So glad you're enjoying them! There's lots more to come :-) I have become very comfortable with our boat but I guess living aboard 24/7 helps make that happen. The investment into having Captain Richard aboard has been worth EVERY penny. Both Maki and I love sailing the boat, tacking and have now gotten to a place where we are pushing "sail trim" to push the boats performance. Again thanks to Richard, I have come to really truly enjoy docking in all it's forms. That said we keep pushing ourselves to learn more, to understand more and to not only pass this knowledge on to Oliver and Lukas but to involve them in the process as much as possible. Excellent walkthrough video! One thing to note -- I witnessed on another Leopard is a boarding wave washing through an open saloon door and flooding the sub-flooring storage. Leopards do not have a big drain or a hatch combing before the door and the lack of floor panel locks and seals meant all that seawater got into the dry goods, paper products and even washed the labels off of canned goods.
Hi Doug, we absolutely love our forward cockpit however that said, we NEVER have the forward door open when the boat is at sea......never. Yes it allows for a great breeze but as the boat owner you mentioned found out, the ocean can toss a ton of water on deck and before you know it you have a mess inside. We've never had this happen (the part of water entering the interior space). Waves have crashed over the bows or through the trampoline but our 2020 Leopard 45 has two very large drains under the floors which can drain the entire cockpit in under 15 seconds. The idea of a forward cockpit is not exclusive to Leopard although they may have started the concept but FP's flagship 67 not only has a forward door and cockpit but a hot tub as well! We find the forward door fantastic for our boys and our selves to be able to access the front of the boat without walking the outer deck while under way and once on anchor or mooring, it's phenomenal to have a drink, take a nap or read up there! Maki a little trick with your draws and cupboards, get hold of some no slip mesh mats, which you can buy in rolls, line the bottom of your cupboards and draws and shelves, stops things moving around when weather is a bit rough. Also cut some to size and when you are cooking leave on prep surfaces for pots ,pans and plates.
All great suggestions Barry! Thanks! Maki did put the non-slip in the drawers and cabinets but for the countertops she bought a nonskid, food prep sheet that can be rolled up easily.....it's fantastic when preparing food! Thank you again!

Great video. Thanks. It answers a lot of questions that don't seem to be anywhere else. Couple of thoughts: TVs are much cheaper than monitors, same quality, 4K etc. (the sound seems too quiet though. I've also found buying sound bars and brackets to be a real pain - so many choices most of which are either too quiet, or the bracket doesn't do what you need it to do. A tilting feature on a bracket would help in a room surrounded by windows. 48" 4k Viezo TVs are $300-Costco. I bought a monitor because I needed something smaller for my computer desk: $700 -there was no HD tv option.) Google peanut butter, safety and aflatoxin. Almond butter costs more but is safer to eat. I guess the risk now is more overseas. I love PB but I get my fix from almond butter. Coconut oil. I guess if you head for the tropics than it's a liquid. However, when it gets cooler it first becomes a nice paste, but then it becomes like a block of wax. I bought a silicone butter stick mold on Amazon, it has 1 tblespn notches in it. I warm up my coconut oil, pour it in the mold, refrigerate. Now you have like butter sticks of coconut oil. When it's cold it doesn't slice as cleanly as butter -still works, and you can just rub it around on a hot pan if you're cooking with it. The oil that gets on your hands? it's lotion. A lot easier than trying to carve it out of the container.
Yes to all :-). Maki got a great deal on a gaming monitor (we don't do any gaming) and we use a JBL Extreme 2 (waterproof) speaker for sound which has been excellent and we can use it outside anytime we want as well. Lol. :) Thanks for another great video! It was tough last year in Annapolis at the boat show to get into the tiny nooks and crannies of the cats when there were so many people walking around. This a great series you've put together outlining all the features of your Leopard 45.

I agree with you on the boat shows. If it's a well visited boat, you either don't have the time to open cabinets and look around, OR the cabinets are sealed shut for the show in some cases. We are really trying to make videos that make you feel as though you have walked the boat yourself, opened the cabinets and panels you always wanted to look behind, or wondering "what would you do here?" or "why would you need this?" etc, etc. We did not know this stuff until we ordered our boat and started talking about what do we need, why do we need something or how would we use that etc. Since we've moved aboard and have now sailed over 1,500 nautical miles, we have become comfortable with the options and systems we selected for our catamaran and feel we can give some real life feedback as to what we like, what we don't, what we would do again or differently etc. hopefully it comes across as useful and relevant information :-). Hello, thank for all your videos. Very educative for the ones who plan to acquire a similar size catamaran. Could it be possible to plan a video about the running costs, and categorize all the boat related expenses (every one, permits, dock, operations, etc; also maintenance, reparations, etc. along the time (time frame of them, and order of magnitude of those running costs in your particular experience. Understanding that every experience would be different, but it would help a lot to plan. Cheers! Continue to enjoy your boat

Great tour. Beautiful Boat/home! You should consider a VESA mount for the iMac, then it wouldn’t interfere with the desktop opening or falling over during passage.
Thanks for the tip Paul! We have looked into the VESA mount but we're still looking for a viable option. The VESA require a desk clamp set up that isn't an option. We have a friend on a L45 that has the larger MAC desktop and his is on an articulating arm so I'll have to ask what he did. Non the less, thanks for sharing a great idea :-)

Definitely the best walkthrough of the leopard 45 I've seen. I wish there were more detailed walkthroughs like this from owners of other cats. The boat show walkthroughs are nice to get a general idea of the boat, but nobody knows these boats like the people who own them. The only thing I'm not a fan of with the Leopard (and most cats, tbh) is the raised helm. I just really like the lower helm of the seawinds.
I guess that's why there's a brand of boat out there for everyone. We don't care for the lower or outside positioned helms such as those on Seawinds, Outremer or Catana but many people do. We love the helm position on our cat because it's so easy to see everything from that position but still be connected everyone in the Aft Cockpit. Glad you liked the walkthrough. We thought it would be easier for everyone to see themselves on a boat like the Leopard 45 by seeing how we live, use and store items aboard her. Almost like touring an empty house that's for sale versus a home staged by a decorator. Makes a big difference so you don't have to imagine how you might use the space. The boat, the options you guys selected, the upgrades and the interior decorating is excellent......Nicest 45 out there.....I do have a question. You guys opted for 2 ac units (1 in each hull). I would imagine the salon even with all the shades gets like an oven. I added a 3rd ac in my salon on a FP Lipari and it was the best move I made.
Gooch Graggle it won’t work.......the salons on cats just become heat boxes.....the a/c units in each hull have enough to keep up with each hull. Even with an added unit in the salon, on 85+ degree days, that unit worked hard just to bring the temp down.
Hi Guys, I don't know what Leopard may have done differently however our 2 A/C units are more than enough to keep our entire interior cool and to be honest sometimes cold. There are two large vents in the salon and fans positioned just in front of them and to date we have never had an issue in keeping the entire boat warm or cold. I will say, although perhaps not said exactly the correct way that our boat feels really well "insulated". Many times it's pouring rain outside and we barely hear it inside the salon. There's also a "dehumidify" mode that does an amazing job at keeping the boat very comfortable. Just our personal experience thus far.
Did you consider the option for a second freezer in the salon? Also the outside freg does not look that big and is a bit pricey. We were going to just use a Dometica or yeti. We also wonder if we will use the stove very much if we have a grill in the back of the cockpit. We would use a convention oven or mircowave which we will have on board, manily for the dogs heating up some of there food and once in a while a TV dinner or popcorn but I think we will bring our air popper for this. In my RV (Earthroamer) all electronics run off the solar including stove and ovemand , freg, airconditioning and I like the idea of being all electric with solar to avoid having to use propane at all. We did get the Genset for backup.
Hi Michael, we didn’t have any option for a second freezer when we ordered our boat. That said, we have the largest Dometic Freezer set inside our custom made dive tank rack along the aft cockpit area in addition to the small aft cockpit fridge and of course the fridge freezer drawers in the salon. When we get back to FLL we’re having the NavDesk removed and we’re adding another fridge freezer drawer combo. Will make a video about it as soon as it’s done.
I forgot to mention we had Just Catamarans run power to the Dometic freezer in the aft cockpit. We also have a large Yeti cooler in the front cockpit. You can IM me on Facebook if you have other questions. Happy to help in any way I can. ~Andy

We are in the planning stages, still learning, researching... I wonder, do you wish you had a bigger fridge? Lol. I just wish Leopard came up with a different fridge situation on 45 :)
Keep in mind that catamaran sales are running in some cases 2 years ahead. We ordered our L45 in 2018 and took delivery in March of 2020. The FP Elba 45 wasn't even out when we ordered our boat. That said, we have looked at nearly all brands of catamarans. If you know exactly where you plan to sail and how you plan to use your boat, it narrows down the options very quickly. We knew we wanted a very solid and safe global sailing vessel which was comfortable, spacious and performance oriented. I had a chance to sail many FP's in California and even though they were fast, I didn't like the build quality if I'm being completely honest. They are great looking boats and sail well but I had a chance to sail several that weren't even a year old and I was surprised at the amount of squeaking and rattling inside not to mention laments that were peeling off the cabinets. Perhaps they've addressed these issues and it's not a big deal anymore. I'm big on "fit and finish" and the quality to detail and trim work on the Leopard is fantastic. The level of trim work even on the Aft and Fwd Cockpits is beautiful. Every boat wether it's FP, Leopard or a Super Yacht all have issues. They are complicated and sophisticated machines with lots and lots of components and moving parts, all the while trying to make you feel all the comforts of home. It's a tall bill to fill and some companies do it better than others. We just happened to see an Elba 45 in Charleston and it looked beautiful! Our goal is to always share unfiltered real information as we've experienced it. We would want that kind of feedback if we were out shopping for a new catamaran too. It is a significant investment and you should take the time to "kick the tires" so to speak so you know exactly what it is you're buying. The beauty of boats like FP, Leopard and Lagoon is that you tend to get lots of comfort and space. For us, we found the Leopard was a very safe, solid and well built boat while still offering great comfort and performance. We are not a rocket ship but she can definitely sail fast especially with the powerful rigs they've put on her. No matter what you decide, the number one thing is safety, after that it comes down to what you want from the boat. Find the boat or brand that really speaks to you, get your order in and get out on the water! We look forward to crossing paths at some point! All the best. ~Andy and the crew

I just started watching your channel and am thoroughly enjoying it! Stupid question for you about the breakers. Why not just leave all the breakers in the "on" position? I have very little electrical knowledge, so forgive me. Cheers from Toronto!
Hi Jonathan! There are no stupid questions......honestly. You'd laugh at some of the questions I asked when we first took delivery of our boat 😂. Anyway, to answer your question, unlike living on land at home, on a boat, at least one like ours you have to "manage" power consumption. If all the breakers were left on each respective item would at the very least have a "parasitic draw" such as when items are in "standby" mode which would nibble away at the house batteries or overload the main breakers (one main breaker feeds the PORT side, the other Starboard in general). There are ways to provide more power for the boat so you can use more items at the same time. This would require having a large bank of lithium batteries and larger inverting power for starters. Large electric consumption items on a boat are water heaters, air conditioners and then all the appliances in the galley. Funny on land you never really have to worry about running the toaster at the same time as the water heater etc, but on a boat it becomes an issue quickly. It just requires understanding how these systems work (which isn't hard) and then managing what you use. Now, if you have a 300' Super Yacht with mega generators, feel free run everything all at the same time! 😂😂 Hope this sheds a little light on the topic. ~Andy

Interested in the delongbi oven. Do you just use it while the genset is on? Assume the lithiums and inverter wouldn’t handle the load? How do you do toast ?
Hi Greg, if we had lithium batteries, yes they would easily handle but, we haven’t switched to lithium yet so on anchor we need to run the Gen which if we do then we do laundry, run A/C if needed etc. We can also use the Delonghi oven while motoring. It’s never been a problem really. The Gen uses only 1/2 gal of fuel per hour.

Those darn no-see-ems, Great explanation and rather comforting that you claim not to be an engineer. I don't know a lot or have an interest in the engine room (but I know I have to). thanks for the salt-desalinated water thoughts when secured in marinas (makes total sense)
Learning all this new stuff is a part of the adventure. If you at least know a little about everything on the boat, you’ll be fine 😁. To be honest it’s interesting to know and a relief when something breaks that you can fix it yourself at the very least enough to get yourself back to shore 😁.
What color interior did you select? I have not ever seen swatches that show the different options but Leopard recommended Pebble for us? Curious if you have any sites that actuallay show the different color options on a boat.
The salon interior on ours is named: Artesian. I’m pretty sure the interior color palette has just changed recently and it’s now rolling out of the factory on the new L42 and L53. There was no color reference swathes nor a website to look at when we ordered but perhaps that’s now available. I’d ask your Leopard Broker.
Hi Robert, the Starboard Owners Cabin and Port Aft Cabin have the same size bed (80”L x 66”W) and the Port Forward Cabin measures (80”L x 56” W). Hope this helps! 😁
Also agree the quality of the editing is very good considering it's so early on. Does she have prior experience? If you don't watch Sailing Uma, you should. They have perhaps the best editing of all the boater RUclips channels. Your boat is beautiful. Leopard have done such a good job with the space, finishing, and design, and seem to have retained decent performance. Many nice touches for a production boat! Too much time spent on the breaker panel! You said a quick overview, then 5 minutes later I was head bobbing, LOL. Factory blinds - I know it's a convenience, but of all the options, that just feels like a total ripoff. Almost $6000 for the salon!! They look like pretty standard cellular shades which can be had for $100 - $200 each for ones house. Is there something special about them? It would also seem that they should offer better fans for the money, at least in the salon. Those little ones make sense for the sleeping cabins, but with a salon as large as theirs, a 12" will work better. I am certainly enjoying your journey and thank you for sharing!
People interested in leopards want to know every little bit they can about the boat. I like when he goes into detail. You can tell he really loves this boat. Im still 5 years out from getting a cat but I'll be getting a leopard and this info is valuable to me. On the curtain thing im sure he priced out the costs to get them done aftermarket and it probably made sense to get them done at the factory. Weird lengths too, he would probably pay quite a bit for custom work. Hes gotten some work done aftermarket when it made sense to. As for the fans he said he plans to upgrade them.
Hi Mike, thanks for taking the time to join our adventure and to send you comments......appreciate it. We have seen Sailing Uma and all the great improvements they made on their boat......great couple :-). We agree Leopard has done a great job with their hull designs and all the interior appointments......lots of space, light, storage and comfort all in a modern bright esthetic. Yes without a doubt some of the items from the factory are crazy expensive such as the shades however they are supposedly made from a material suitable for the marine environment, are custom made for the space and are strung on both sides bolted down so they don't swing while underway. A few of the windows also have sharp angles which they've brilliantly made shades that somehow adjust accordingly. Anyway, still expensive agreed but they work great and came installed, ready to go. That said we did a lot of research as to where we could save money and still install high quality finishes because as you probably know, EVERYTHING in the boating world is expensive! You boat is beautiful, and extremely nicely decorated......however.....it’s a boat that moves....everything on your counter tops in the salon is going to to go flying around the salon in rough water...I hope you have a place to stow all that stuff. If it lives where it is, use double sided tape and stick it to the surface. Get anti slide pads, like the stuff you line drawers with. Even an at anchor, with a lot of surge or when that calm anchorage becomes a rolly anchorage, that stuff can go flying... if an anchorage goes south and you need to get out of there quick, that’s a lot of stuff to stow quickly.
Thanks for your comment and concern 👍 the only thing we need to secure before departure or unplanned rough conditions is the desktop computer. Everything else is secure and ready to go. We’ve been 8-10’ seas and the boat was awesome. That said we certainly do everything we can to plan and route around rough weather systems. 👍
ROBBYDOG the Salon and showers are 80” (roughly 6’5”) however the owners shower has another 6” if you open the hatch screen). The hallways and cabin ceiling is at 74” (just over 6’). We have a friend that’s as tall as you and he owns a L45 and loves it. Hope this helps! 😊
Just as a matter of interest, why so many union flags at the marina? Is this a permanent feature or was there some sort of British themed event at the time?
Hi Mark, we haven't tried that yet. We are able to connect iPads and our iPhones to the Raymarine MFD but have yet to take the time to see if there's a way to sync to the MAC desktop. Will have to look into that.
@@sailingsvoliluki6938 Chose your passages well and whole world is yours :) do emergency trainings and procedures with boys often, teach them how to use radio, and steer the boat. they are the ones who you have to rely on in case of emergency. they are young, but they are your only backup on the boat in the middle of the ocean. uzdravlje i sa srecom

Hi PB, from a view point of food nutrition, as a family we have never used a microwave oven. There's lots and lots of scientific research on how microwaves, although quick to heat also kills the nutritional value of food. We always use a stove top or the countertop oven we have on board. It's just our choice in food preparation and is now the choice of our little "Floating Chefs" on board :-). We may do a video of nutritional, healthy food preparation on a sailboat at some point if there's an interest in that. Anyway, thank you for taking time out of your day to join our sailing journey. Hi Rick, speed does equal safety to a certain degree. The biggest safety feature is knowing how to read weather and even though most weather models are "predictions" when they all line up, it's pretty certain you won't find yourself in a crappy weather situation. That said, squalls and micro bursts aren't predictable to you just have to push through. Our boat has been designed for global travel and so there aren't really any weather situations at least the ones we'd willingly put ourselves into that will push beyond the boats abilities. I've been out at sea with a delivery captain on a Leopard 48 in 12 foot seas and the boat had no issues at all. That said my family and I have no interest in being out in those seas at all! Not 100% sure but the L45 design definitely pushed the boundaries of what can be done with a 45' catamaran. We were told our interior space was pushing near to the L51 Power Cat. It's very spacious and comfortable for sure! Thanks for joining the adventure......all the best!
Hi Don! There was no dishwasher available on the L45 when we ordered her, there is now. That said, we wouldn't get a dishwasher even if we could do it again. Space, water and power it utilizes is too much. We have really learned to manage our use of dish ware etc to minimize washing and we also tend to wash, dry and put away all dishes used after every single meal so there's never a mess to clean up. Just our way of doing it :-)
Hi Khalid! Although our boat is not cheap, it's not something that requires someone to be "rich". We are not rich by any stretch of the imagination, however that said, we planned and saved for many years to get to a place where we can do this with our boys, to share with them a different view of the world. We are grateful to be able to do this with them. I personally want to start sharing more on the side of motivation and planning because for those of us that aren't part of a super rich family that can drop a few million or hundreds of millions, it takes planning, drive and sacrifice and that is not easy BUT you CAN do this! Step one is believing that YOU can. I know, I probably sound like Tony Robbins but it's true. Nobody says it has to be a new boat. If you look at it from the perspective of a liveaboard, it gets a lot easier. While where I live currently, you could buy 2 or 3, even 4 of the average home for the price of a cat in the 45 foot range (the house I actually live in is about a 10th of the cost, actually), anywhere that you could actually live aboard the homes are going to be a comparable price, so you can pretty easily swap the boat out for the cost of a house. And when you consider that you are typically going to have solar power (and you can feasibly fit quite a lot of solar on a cat) and generally lower power consumption than in a house, you can eliminate most of your electricity costs if you go into it with that as a goal. Right now my plan is to get myself into a spot where I can pick up something like a Seawind 1260, or maybe 1370 if I feel like splurging for a bigger boat (As a single person, 45 ft is a LOT of boat, and more than I really need) and going hardcore off grid (high solar capacity, hydro-gen, and maybe wind if I can handle the noise, potentially electric motors for propulsion with a genset, or no genset and using larger alternators on the diesels) so that I don't need to pay for any power, and keep diesel usage as low as possible, so I basically only need to feed and clothe myself, which if you are cruising, you can tow lines and freeze what you catch to reduce that cost as well. It obviously depends on how you live, but I've seen couples who live on well under 20k USD per year while cruising. Heck, if you're fun and entertaining you can turn your lifestyle into a successful youtube channel and maybe help pay a tiny bit of some of those bills, lol.
Always work on self development, and hope for the best.. to live your best life ! I'm sure over time we can learn a few things on lifestyle and choices from Andy and Maki. There is a cost, and a lot of learning to boat ownership. Can start sailing small.
No dishwasher. It actually wasn't available at the time we ordered the boat, but to be honest even if we could do it over, we wouldn't order a dishwasher anyway. It takes up a fair amount of precious space and uses a good amount of power. We have always washed, dried and put away dishes after every meal. Just the way we have done it, even at home even when we had access to a dishwasher. There's also the bonus of having the boys help and learn what teamwork is all about when we it comes to living aboard and caring for our boat :-)
Hello from sunny Sydney, Australia. Having been on the post production side of the TV business for over three decades, I thought I'd share some tips on how to improve your 'Titles & Sub-titles' on your movie content. The classic mistakes novice film editors make with titles is to try use all the fancy "animation of type titles & sub-titles"...like each time you sub-title what's happening, you have a sound effect of the typewriter. Once you start making heaps of videos, it is going to become tedious & time consuming to have put an effect on your sub-titles...the sub-title doesn't need a sound affect, and in my humble opinion, can start to irritate the viewer especially if your vid has heaps of sub-titles...you'll also save yourself a ton of time not having to put an audio effect on your titles. Also, on your main title try keep the name of your episode clean and "uncluttered", for example on Episode 17 at the 4:35 time code, you have a really busy, long title that really doesn't work for me as a typographer...instead of the blue font with drop shadow, I would have just kept it a simple white font reversed out of the background, with a black drop shadow...also having each word capitalised makes it harder to read, so only capitalise the first letter & proper nouns, and you find it easier on the eye. I also wouldn't have the light blue frame around the title, again, it's unnecessary and just make the title very cluttered. Also the title is way to long...keep your titles interesting so you get more views without resorting to Click Bait headlines...so, I think a shortened title of: Engine troubles on a magical place on The Chesapeake. ...this would have worked much better, and it also has mystery and intrigue inviting the viewer to watch your content. You'll find if you keep your episode titles the same each week, it is easier to reuse the format than having to try come up with something new each week. Please don't take my advice as criticism, as I'm merely help you guys make better content, with my experience working in television post production for 35 years. I love what you guys are doing for your boys and I look forward to following your adventures on the high seas...look forward to maybe meeting your guys one day if your ever decide to visit Australia (which I highly recommend). Safe travels and may the wind always be on your back.

Hi Ben, yes $470 would be way too much for just the bracket but this cost also covers the wall backing and lock and the additional power outlet. Probably still a bit high but there are some things that are just way easier to have done at the factory vs aftermarket.

Love the way you guys keep the boat neat and tidy, know its a new boat, but obviously you take pride in looking after it.
Just one small thing when showing of your gas bottles area, not a big fan of bungy cords securing them.
Know you can get custom built cradles built, also tie down straps are much stronger.
Also with your cushions and anything that has a buttons, a couple of cans of silicone spray, are handy once a month to stop them rusting up or seizing.

Y'all definitely put a lot of thought into your options. The only thing I (personally) don't like about the majority of production boats is the sharp corners. It would be so easy for the big companies to do rounded corners. Amazing new Cat though ❤️🤙
Hi Curt, We agree with you and perhaps it doesn't come across on the videos but our counters all have rounded corners. I have been on some other cats that have crazy sharp and pointy corners and Mama Mia! they hurt when the poke you in the back!
I just watched some videos on a couple of cats for sale, and that was an issue on both of them. One was a Fontaine Pajot, and it had sharp corners throughout the salon. I can't remember the 2nd one, but their solution was to round the corners. This is great except the rounded them over vertically. So now you lose precious counter space, and it's easier for things to slide off! I really don't know what they where thinking! If anything, you want a lip around the edges. Sorry for rambling. ..
My family and I have fond memories of St. Michaels. It was the favorite spot to visit by my Grandmother and her second husband (Uncle Bill as we used to call him). Uncle Bill LOVED the sea and loved St. Micheals. There was a special restaurant there that we always went to for lunch or dinner after touring around the area and the shops. It still looks amazing and beautiful and I greatly appreciate all the photography and aerial views! I believe the area was hit bu a hurricane or tropical storm a few years back so glad to see it is looking great and no worse for the wear from the storm.

Maki has done such a great job decorating the interiors, its simple and welcoming and really adds to the overall beauty of the space. She has done an excellent job with the galley as well and I know she is a wonderful host and makes amazing dishes to share with everyone on board. Andy, I am impressed with your knowledge and seamanship of your boat. I remember that at the start there was alot to learn and get a handle on. Now you are beginning to look like a seasoned mariner and have a great grasp of your vessel. Hi Michael, What a beautiful post.......thank you. St. Michaels is a beautiful place, still. The people are so kind and the charm of the entire place makes you feel like you're in a very different, a very special place.
So glad you liked Part 1 of the interior video. Part 2 is coming up. Our goal has always been to share "real and relevant" information for those that are planning to do a sailing trip of their own or just so everyone watching can go away with a little more information. When we were still in CA, Maki and I talked about the general feel and vibe we wanted on our boat and did our interior shopping in CA.....things like pillows, bed sheets, towels, kitchen items, plants etc. It just made it that much easier to ship all of it to Florida for the arrival of our boat. We had tons of other things to buy for the boat in particular (ie boat hooks, cleaning supplies, etc parts etc.).
Editing, Maki has hit it out of the park! She studied before the boat arrived to learn the basics of editing and filmmaking and together we work hard to "tell a story". My time as a Story Department Manager at Disney helps here but Maki does a fantastic time editing adding B-Roll and effects, lighting etc. She's working really hard to make each video special in its own way. So glad you're enjoying them! There's lots more to come :-)
I have become very comfortable with our boat but I guess living aboard 24/7 helps make that happen. The investment into having Captain Richard aboard has been worth EVERY penny. Both Maki and I love sailing the boat, tacking and have now gotten to a place where we are pushing "sail trim" to push the boats performance. Again thanks to Richard, I have come to really truly enjoy docking in all it's forms. That said we keep pushing ourselves to learn more, to understand more and to not only pass this knowledge on to Oliver and Lukas but to involve them in the process as much as possible. It has been wonderful to seem them grow and become more confident in their crew duties!

Excellent walkthrough video! One thing to note -- I witnessed on another Leopard is a boarding wave washing through an open saloon door and flooding the sub-flooring storage. Leopards do not have a big drain or a hatch combing before the door and the lack of floor panel locks and seals meant all that seawater got into the dry goods, paper products and even washed the labels off of canned goods.
Hi Doug, we absolutely love our forward cockpit however that said, we NEVER have the forward door open when the boat is at sea......never. Yes it allows for a great breeze but as the boat owner you mentioned found out, the ocean can toss a ton of water on deck and before you know it you have a mess inside. We've never had this happen (the part of water entering the interior space). Waves have crashed over the bows or through the trampoline but our 2020 Leopard 45 has two very large drains under the floors which can drain the entire cockpit in under 15 seconds. The idea of a forward cockpit is not exclusive to Leopard although they may have started the concept but FP's flagship 67 not only has a forward door and cockpit but a hot tub as well! We find the forward door fantastic for our boys and our selves to be able to access the front of the boat without walking the outer deck while under way and once on anchor or mooring, it's phenomenal to have a drink, take a nap or read up there! Maki a little trick with your draws and cupboards, get hold of some no slip mesh mats, which you can buy in rolls, line the bottom of your cupboards and draws and shelves, stops things moving around when weather is a bit rough.
Also cut some to size and when you are cooking leave on prep surfaces for pots ,pans and plates.
All great suggestions Barry! Thanks! Maki did put the non-slip in the drawers and cabinets but for the countertops she bought a nonskid, food prep sheet that can be rolled up easily.....it's fantastic when preparing food! Thank you again!

warp21drive I think a lot of the Chesapeake has been quieter than usual. We’ve had no problem getting a mooring or docking anywhere all summer.

Great video. Thanks. It answers a lot of questions that don't seem to be anywhere else.
Couple of thoughts: TVs are much cheaper than monitors, same quality, 4K etc. (the sound seems too quiet though. I've also found buying sound bars and brackets to be a real pain - so many choices most of which are either too quiet, or the bracket doesn't do what you need it to do. A tilting feature on a bracket would help in a room surrounded by windows. 48" 4k Viezo TVs are $300-Costco. I bought a monitor because I needed something smaller for my computer desk: $700 -there was no HD tv option.)
Google peanut butter, safety and aflatoxin. Almond butter costs more but is safer to eat. I guess the risk now is more overseas. I love PB but I get my fix from almond butter.
Coconut oil. I guess if you head for the tropics than it's a liquid. However, when it gets cooler it first becomes a nice paste, but then it becomes like a block of wax. I bought a silicone butter stick mold on Amazon, it has 1 tblespn notches in it. I warm up my coconut oil, pour it in the mold, refrigerate. Now you have like butter sticks of coconut oil. When it's cold it doesn't slice as cleanly as butter -still works, and you can just rub it around on a hot pan if you're cooking with it. The oil that gets on your hands? it's lotion. A lot easier than trying to carve it out of the container.
Yes to all :-). Maki got a great deal on a gaming monitor (we don't do any gaming) and we use a JBL Extreme 2 (waterproof) speaker for sound which has been excellent and we can use it outside anytime we want as well. Lol. :) Thanks for another great video! It was tough last year in Annapolis at the boat show to get into the tiny nooks and crannies of the cats when there were so many people walking around. This a great series you've put together outlining all the features of your Leopard 45.

I agree with you on the boat shows. If it's a well visited boat, you either don't have the time to open cabinets and look around, OR the cabinets are sealed shut for the show in some cases. We are really trying to make videos that make you feel as though you have walked the boat yourself, opened the cabinets and panels you always wanted to look behind, or wondering "what would you do here?" or "why would you need this?" etc, etc. We did not know this stuff until we ordered our boat and started talking about what do we need, why do we need something or how would we use that etc. Since we've moved aboard and have now sailed over 1,500 nautical miles, we have become comfortable with the options and systems we selected for our catamaran and feel we can give some real life feedback as to what we like, what we don't, what we would do again or differently etc. hopefully it comes across as useful and relevant information :-). Hello, thank for all your videos. Very educative for the ones who plan to acquire a similar size catamaran. Could it be possible to plan a video about the running costs, and categorize all the boat related expenses (every one, permits, dock, operations, etc; also maintenance, reparations, etc. along the time (time frame of them, and order of magnitude of those running costs in your particular experience. Understanding that every experience would be different, but it would help a lot to plan. Cheers! Continue to enjoy your boat

You should consider a VESA mount for the iMac, then it wouldn’t interfere with the desktop opening or falling over during passage.
Thanks for the tip Paul! We have looked into the VESA mount but we're still looking for a viable option. The VESA require a desk clamp set up that isn't an option. We have a friend on a L45 that has the larger MAC desktop and his is on an articulating arm so I'll have to ask what he did. Non the less, thanks for sharing a great idea :-)

Definitely the best walkthrough of the leopard 45 I've seen. I wish there were more detailed walkthroughs like this from owners of other cats. The boat show walkthroughs are nice to get a general idea of the boat, but nobody knows these boats like the people who own them.
The only thing I'm not a fan of with the Leopard (and most cats, tbh) is the raised helm. I just really like the lower helm of the seawinds.
I guess that's why there's a brand of boat out there for everyone. We don't care for the lower or outside positioned helms such as those on Seawinds, Outremer or Catana but many people do. We love the helm position on our cat because it's so easy to see everything from that position but still be connected everyone in the Aft Cockpit. Glad you liked the walkthrough. We thought it would be easier for everyone to see themselves on a boat like the Leopard 45 by seeing how we live, use and store items aboard her. Almost like touring an empty house that's for sale versus a home staged by a decorator. Makes a big difference so you don't have to imagine how you might use the space. Anyway, thank you for coming along on this journey with us.....there's more. to come!

The boat, the options you guys selected, the upgrades and the interior decorating is excellent......Nicest 45 out there.....I do have a question. You guys opted for 2 ac units (1 in each hull). I would imagine the salon even with all the shades gets like an oven. I added a 3rd ac in my salon on a FP Lipari and it was the best move I made.

Gooch Graggle it won’t work.......the salons on cats just become heat boxes.....the a/c units in each hull have enough to keep up with each hull. Even with an added unit in the salon, on 85+ degree days, that unit worked hard just to bring the temp down.
Hi Guys, I don't know what Leopard may have done differently however our 2 A/C units are more than enough to keep our entire interior cool and to be honest sometimes cold. There are two large vents in the salon and fans positioned just in front of them and to date we have never had an issue in keeping the entire boat warm or cold. I will say, although perhaps not said exactly the correct way that our boat feels really well "insulated". Many times it's pouring rain outside and we barely hear it inside the salon. There's also a "dehumidify" mode that does an amazing job at keeping the boat very comfortable. Just our personal experience thus far.
Did you consider the option for a second freezer in the salon? Also the outside freg does not look that big and is a bit pricey. We were going to just use a Dometica or yeti. We also wonder if we will use the stove very much if we have a grill in the back of the cockpit. We would use a convention oven or mircowave which we will have on board, manily for the dogs heating up some of there food and once in a while a TV dinner or popcorn but I think we will bring our air popper for this. In my RV (Earthroamer) all electronics run off the solar including stove and ovemand , freg, airconditioning and I like the idea of being all electric with solar to avoid having to use propane at all. We did get the Genset for backup.
Hi Michael, we didn’t have any option for a second freezer when we ordered our boat. That said, we have the largest Dometic Freezer set inside our custom made dive tank rack along the aft cockpit area in addition to the small aft cockpit fridge and of course the fridge freezer drawers in the salon. When we get back to FLL we’re having the NavDesk removed and we’re adding another fridge freezer drawer combo. Will make a video about it as soon as it’s done.
I forgot to mention we had Just Catamarans run power to the Dometic freezer in the aft cockpit. We also have a large Yeti cooler in the front cockpit. You can IM me on Facebook if you have other questions. Happy to help in any way I can. ~Andy

Enjoying your videos! Beautiful home/boat :) A question - have you considered Fountaine Pajot Elba 45 when shopping? What made you choose Leopard? We are in the planning stages, still learning, researching... I wonder, do you wish you had a bigger fridge? Lol. I just wish Leopard came up with a different fridge situation on 45 :)
Keep in mind that catamaran sales are running in some cases 2 years ahead. We ordered our L45 in 2018 and took delivery in March of 2020. The FP Elba 45 wasn't even out when we ordered our boat. That said, we have looked at nearly all brands of catamarans. If you know exactly where you plan to sail and how you plan to use your boat, it narrows down the options very quickly. We knew we wanted a very solid and safe global sailing vessel which was comfortable, spacious and performance oriented. I had a chance to sail many FP's in California and even though they were fast, I didn't like the build quality if I'm being completely honest. They are great looking boats and sail well but I had a chance to sail several that weren't even a year old and I was surprised at the amount of squeaking and rattling inside not to mention laments that were peeling off the cabinets. Perhaps they've addressed these issues and it's not a big deal anymore. I'm big on "fit and finish" and the quality to detail and trim work on the Leopard is fantastic. The level of trim work even on the Aft and Fwd Cockpits is beautiful. Every boat wether it's FP, Leopard or a Super Yacht all have issues. They are complicated and sophisticated machines with lots and lots of components and moving parts, all the while trying to make you feel all the comforts of home. It's a tall bill to fill and some companies do it better than others. We just happened to see an Elba 45 in Charleston and it looked beautiful! Our goal is to always share unfiltered real information as we've experienced it. We would want that kind of feedback if we were out shopping for a new catamaran too. It is a significant investment and you should take the time to "kick the tires" so to speak so you know exactly what it is you're buying. The beauty of boats like FP, Leopard and Lagoon is that you tend to get lots of comfort and space. For us, we found the Leopard was a very safe, solid and well built boat while still offering great comfort and performance. We are not a rocket ship but she can definitely sail fast especially with the powerful rigs they've put on her. No matter what you decide, the number one thing is safety, after that it comes down to what you want from the boat. Find the boat or brand that really speaks to you, get your order in and get out on the water! We look forward to crossing paths at some point! All the best. ~Andy and the crew

I just started watching your channel and am thoroughly enjoying it! Stupid question for you about the breakers. Why not just leave all the breakers in the "on" position? I have very little electrical knowledge, so forgive me. Cheers from Toronto!
Hi Jonathan! There are no stupid questions......honestly. You'd laugh at some of the questions I asked when we first took delivery of our boat 😂. Anyway, to answer your question, unlike living on land at home, on a boat, at least one like ours you have to "manage" power consumption. If all the breakers were left on each respective item would at the very least have a "parasitic draw" such as when items are in "standby" mode which would nibble away at the house batteries or overload the main breakers (one main breaker feeds the PORT side, the other Starboard in general). There are ways to provide more power for the boat so you can use more items at the same time. This would require having a large bank of lithium batteries and larger inverting power for starters. Large electric consumption items on a boat are water heaters, air conditioners and then all the appliances in the galley. Funny on land you never really have to worry about running the toaster at the same time as the water heater etc, but on a boat it becomes an issue quickly. It just requires understanding how these systems work (which isn't hard) and then managing what you use. Now, if you have a 300' Super Yacht with mega generators, feel free run everything all at the same time! 😂😂 Hope this sheds a little light on the topic. ~Andy

Interested in the delongbi oven. Do you just use it while the genset is on? Assume the lithiums and inverter wouldn’t handle the load? How do you do toast ?
Hi Greg, if we had lithium batteries, yes they would easily handle but, we haven’t switched to lithium yet so on anchor we need to run the Gen which if we do then we do laundry, run A/C if needed etc. We can also use the Delonghi oven while motoring. It’s never been a problem really. The Gen uses only 1/2 gal of fuel per hour.

Those darn no-see-ems, Great explanation and rather comforting that you claim not to be an engineer. I don't know a lot or have an interest in the engine room (but I know I have to). thanks for the salt-desalinated water thoughts when secured in marinas (makes total sense)
Learning all this new stuff is a part of the adventure. If you at least know a little about everything on the boat, you’ll be fine 😁. To be honest it’s interesting to know and a relief when something breaks that you can fix it yourself at the very least enough to get yourself back to shore 😁.
What color interior did you select? I have not ever seen swatches that show the different options but Leopard recommended Pebble for us? Curious if you have any sites that actuallay show the different color options on a boat.
The salon interior on ours is named: Artesian. I’m pretty sure the interior color palette has just changed recently and it’s now rolling out of the factory on the new L42 and L53. There was no color reference swathes nor a website to look at when we ordered but perhaps that’s now available. I’d ask your Leopard Broker.

Also agree the quality of the editing is very good considering it's so early on. Does she have prior experience? If you don't watch Sailing Uma, you should. They have perhaps the best editing of all the boater RUclips channels. Your boat is beautiful. Leopard have done such a good job with the space, finishing, and design, and seem to have retained decent performance. Many nice touches for a production boat!
Too much time spent on the breaker panel! You said a quick overview, then 5 minutes later I was head bobbing, LOL.
Factory blinds - I know it's a convenience, but of all the options, that just feels like a total ripoff. Almost $6000 for the salon!! They look like pretty standard cellular shades which can be had for $100 - $200 each for ones house. Is there something special about them? It would also seem that they should offer better fans for the money, at least in the salon. Those little ones make sense for the sleeping cabins, but with a salon as large as theirs, a 12" will work better.

People interested in leopards want to know every little bit they can about the boat. I like when he goes into detail. You can tell he really loves this boat. Im still 5 years out from getting a cat but I'll be getting a leopard and this info is valuable to me.
On the curtain thing im sure he priced out the costs to get them done aftermarket and it probably made sense to get them done at the factory. Weird lengths too, he would probably pay quite a bit for custom work. Hes gotten some work done aftermarket when it made sense to. As for the fans he said he plans to upgrade them.
Hi Mike, thanks for taking the time to join our adventure and to send you comments......appreciate it. We have seen Sailing Uma and all the great improvements they made on their boat......great couple :-).
We agree Leopard has done a great job with their hull designs and all the interior appointments......lots of space, light, storage and comfort all in a modern bright esthetic. Yes without a doubt some of the items from the factory are crazy expensive such as the shades however they are supposedly made from a material suitable for the marine environment, are custom made for the space and are strung on both sides bolted down so they don't swing while underway. A few of the windows also have sharp angles which they've brilliantly made shades that somehow adjust accordingly. Anyway, still expensive agreed but they work great and came installed, ready to go. That said we did a lot of research as to where we could save money and still install high quality finishes because as you probably know, EVERYTHING in the boating world is expensive!

You boat is beautiful, and extremely nicely decorated......however.....it’s a boat that moves....everything on your counter tops in the salon is going to to go flying around the salon in rough water...I hope you have a place to stow all that stuff. If it lives where it is, use double sided tape and stick it to the surface. Get anti slide pads, like the stuff you line drawers with. Even an at anchor, with a lot of surge or when that calm anchorage becomes a rolly anchorage, that stuff can go flying... if an anchorage goes south and you need to get out of there quick, that’s a lot of stuff to stow quickly.
Thanks for your comment and concern 👍 the only thing we need to secure before departure or unplanned rough conditions is the desktop computer. Everything else is secure and ready to go. We’ve been 8-10’ seas and the boat was awesome. That said we certainly do everything we can to plan and route around rough weather systems. 👍

I'm thinking of getting a Leopard 45, a quick question, I'm 6'7" tall how tall are the showers and cabin?
ROBBYDOG the Salon and showers are 80” (roughly 6’5”) however the owners shower has another 6” if you open the hatch screen). The hallways and cabin ceiling is at 74” (just over 6’). We have a friend that’s as tall as you and he owns a L45 and loves it. Hope this helps! 😊

Hi Mark, we haven't tried that yet. We are able to connect iPads and our iPhones to the Raymarine MFD but have yet to take the time to see if there's a way to sync to the MAC desktop. Will have to look into that.

@@sailingsvoliluki6938 Chose your passages well and whole world is yours :) do emergency trainings and procedures with boys often, teach them how to use radio, and steer the boat. they are the ones who you have to rely on in case of emergency. they are young, but they are your only backup on the boat in the middle of the ocean.

Hi PB, from a view point of food nutrition, as a family we have never used a microwave oven. There's lots and lots of scientific research on how microwaves, although quick to heat also kills the nutritional value of food. We always use a stove top or the countertop oven we have on board. It's just our choice in food preparation and is now the choice of our little "Floating Chefs" on board :-). We may do a video of nutritional, healthy food preparation on a sailboat at some point if there's an interest in that. Anyway, thank you for taking time out of your day to join our sailing journey. Hi Rick, speed does equal safety to a certain degree. The biggest safety feature is knowing how to read weather and even though most weather models are "predictions" when they all line up, it's pretty certain you won't find yourself in a crappy weather situation. That said, squalls and micro bursts aren't predictable to you just have to push through. Our boat has been designed for global travel and so there aren't really any weather situations at least the ones we'd willingly put ourselves into that will push beyond the boats abilities. I've been out at sea with a delivery captain on a Leopard 48 in 12 foot seas and the boat had no issues at all. That said my family and I have no interest in being out in those seas at all! The bathroom looks a lot bigger on this 45 than the owners bathroom on a 48. Not sure if its an optical illusion though.
Not 100% sure but the L45 design definitely pushed the boundaries of what can be done with a 45' catamaran. We were told our interior space was pushing near to the L51 Power Cat. It's very spacious and comfortable for sure! Thanks for joining the adventure......all the best!
No dishwasher?
Hi Don! There was no dishwasher available on the L45 when we ordered her, there is now. That said, we wouldn't get a dishwasher even if we could do it again. Space, water and power it utilizes is too much. We have really learned to manage our use of dish ware etc to minimize washing and we also tend to wash, dry and put away all dishes used after every single meal so there's never a mess to clean up. Just our way of doing it :-)

Hi Khalid! Although our boat is not cheap, it's not something that requires someone to be "rich". We are not rich by any stretch of the imagination, however that said, we planned and saved for many years to get to a place where we can do this with our boys, to share with them a different view of the world. We are grateful to be able to do this with them. I personally want to start sharing more on the side of motivation and planning because for those of us that aren't part of a super rich family that can drop a few million or hundreds of millions, it takes planning, drive and sacrifice and that is not easy BUT you CAN do this! Step one is believing that YOU can. I know, I probably sound like Tony Robbins but it's true. Nobody says it has to be a new boat. If you look at it from the perspective of a liveaboard, it gets a lot easier. While where I live currently, you could buy 2 or 3, even 4 of the average home for the price of a cat in the 45 foot range (the house I actually live in is about a 10th of the cost, actually), anywhere that you could actually live aboard the homes are going to be a comparable price, so you can pretty easily swap the boat out for the cost of a house. And when you consider that you are typically going to have solar power (and you can feasibly fit quite a lot of solar on a cat) and generally lower power consumption than in a house, you can eliminate most of your electricity costs if you go into it with that as a goal.
Right now my plan is to get myself into a spot where I can pick up something like a Seawind 1260, or maybe 1370 if I feel like splurging for a bigger boat (As a single person, 45 ft is a LOT of boat, and more than I really need) and going hardcore off grid (high solar capacity, hydro-gen, and maybe wind if I can handle the noise, potentially electric motors for propulsion with a genset, or no genset and using larger alternators on the diesels) so that I don't need to pay for any power, and keep diesel usage as low as possible, so I basically only need to feed and clothe myself, which if you are cruising, you can tow lines and freeze what you catch to reduce that cost as well.
It obviously depends on how you live, but I've seen couples who live on well under 20k USD per year while cruising. Heck, if you're fun and entertaining you can turn your lifestyle into a successful youtube channel and maybe help pay a tiny bit of some of those bills, lol.

There is a cost, and a lot of learning to boat ownership. Can start sailing small.
Don't stop at wishing for just enough for the boat. They break constantly so you need twice as much money to cover all of the maintenence.
No dishwasher? Or is that the boy’s job?
No dishwasher. It actually wasn't available at the time we ordered the boat, but to be honest even if we could do it over, we wouldn't order a dishwasher anyway. It takes up a fair amount of precious space and uses a good amount of power. We have always washed, dried and put away dishes after every meal. Just the way we have done it, even at home even when we had access to a dishwasher. There's also the bonus of having the boys help and learn what teamwork is all about when we it comes to living aboard and caring for our boat :-)

Having been on the post production side of the TV business for over three decades, I thought I'd share some tips on how to improve your 'Titles & Sub-titles' on your movie content. The classic mistakes novice film editors make with titles is to try use all the fancy "animation of type titles & sub-titles"...like each time you sub-title what's happening, you have a sound effect of the typewriter. Once you start making heaps of videos, it is going to become tedious & time consuming to have put an effect on your sub-titles...the sub-title doesn't need a sound affect, and in my humble opinion, can start to irritate the viewer especially if your vid has heaps of sub-titles...you'll also save yourself a ton of time not having to put an audio effect on your titles. Also, on your main title try keep the name of your episode clean and "uncluttered", for example on Episode 17 at the 4:35 time code, you have a really busy, long title that really doesn't work for me as a typographer...instead of the blue font with drop shadow, I would have just kept it a simple white font reversed out of the background, with a black drop shadow...also having each word capitalised makes it harder to read, so only capitalise the first letter & proper nouns, and you find it easier on the eye. I also wouldn't have the light blue frame around the title, again, it's unnecessary and just make the title very cluttered. Also the title is way to long...keep your titles interesting so you get more views without resorting to Click Bait headlines...so, I think a shortened title of:
Engine troubles on a magical place
on The Chesapeake.
...this would have worked much better, and it also has mystery and intrigue inviting the viewer to watch your content. You'll find if you keep your episode titles the same each week, it is easier to reuse the format than having to try come up with something new each week. Please don't take my advice as criticism, as I'm merely help you guys make better content, with my experience working in television post production for 35 years.
I love what you guys are doing for your boys and I look forward to following your adventures on the high seas...look forward to maybe meeting your guys one day if your ever decide to visit Australia (which I highly recommend). Safe travels and may the wind always be on your back.

I've also had the pleasure of working in the entertainment industry at the Walt Disney Studios and you are correct on your thoughts and suggestions. We are dialing in our style and message as we continue to post videos as this great adventure of our rolls on :-). We never want to come across as a Bait Click or Drama channel. Our only purpose for doing these videos is to share our experience and overtime knowledge so that others may perhaps benefit as they make their own boat purchase or cruising plans.
Our boys are learning, seeing and doing so many new things,......they are truly loving every day out here. A great life experience that Maki and I didn't have as children and we are extremely grateful to be able to give them the gift of a family experience like this at their young age. Hi Ben, yes $470 would be way too much for just the bracket but this cost also covers the wall backing and lock and the additional power outlet. Probably still a bit high but there are some things that are just way easier to have done at the factory vs aftermarket.
