How wonderful to watch a seasoned quilter who doesn’t worry about every single solitary quilt piece being sewed perfectly. It’s no fun to quilt if you have to rip out constantly because the seam is 1/64 inch off. And to hear the phrase “It’ll quilt out” being repeated by someone other than me and my gran… perfection! All new quilters should be watching you before they totally get discouraged and quit quilting!!!
My daughter is new to quilting so when she is off a little, I just show her a quilted, washed and dried quilt and ask her if she thinks she would be able to find these tiny mistakes then.
@HappyLittleStitchSh I’m new to quilting, also. But in my first quilted project, a throw for my 5 y/o grandson, I told him that the pleats were “I tucked my prayers, for him.” He, and his bigger brother look for these “hiding spaces.” I’m proud of my first finished quilt. And he loves it incredibly! Happy sewing!
Thank you Lori for showing us how to fix a square that wasn’t exactly perfect! I really appreciate it when RUclipsr’s keep everything in their videos and explain the reasons why something happens and then show me how to fix it!!!!!!!! I love sewing but I am not a perfect quilter. You are such an inspiration to so many and I really appreciate all you share. ❤️
I love the simple beauty of this quilt. Over the years I feel like the more quilts tutes I watch, the more overwhelmed I get, thinking, I need to "progress" to the harder more intricate ones. I now realize that the kinds of quilts that "I" like are simple. Still pretty but simple and fun for me to make. My kids love them. My grands love them. So thank you for the simple quilts you show. I will definitely be making this one.
I was going to say that one time a couple years ago we had a visitor (man) with us and he noticed a checkerboard quilt hanging on my line and he said that it was perfect - that so many times people can't appreciate an intricate design. Or maybe it was big squares with a rail fence sashing and 9 patch cornerstones. Either way - it was a simple quilt. There's room for them all!
My best gift for Christmas was having my family all together under one roof. We played a really fun game, watched football, ate awesome finger foods and really had a ball of a time. It was the best because of too much time missed because of Covid period.
THANK YOU for your perfect timing on this darling scrap quilt. Organizing scraps was already on my resolution list, and now I'm highly motivated and ready. What I love most about this quilt is the simplicity. I will put the scraps to USE immediately, and the planning/organizing/cutting, etc. for this quilt is a breeze. I can have this up and running easily as a "side project" that doesn't divert my focus from my "everyday" quilting projects. For me, that is the PERFECT kind of scrap quilt!
Happy New Year! Happy to see you return to RUclips tutorials. Have to admit that I have just recently jumped in to Lori Holt World and am ready to start Sew Scrappy Spools and others from your Scrappiness is Happiness book. Just a year off timing, I guess. It took a while watching Kimberly’s FQS RUclips videos to hook me! Now, totally love you both! I just need to live 400 years to complete all that I have planned! Keep on scrapping, Queen Bee!❤😂🎉🥰💖🎊
Happy New Year🎉 Lori, you are one of the most prolific designers of this era. Fabric, quilts, yarn, an amazing number of sewing tools, paper products as well as organizing systems. You are amazing 🤩
I am a new quilter and have been watching your show for 2 years. I have learn so much from you, Natalie and Christy. The best tips I learned from you was how to relax and have fun. I was so glad to hear that I wasn't the only angley challenged person out there. I love the warmth and closeness you all share. By the way you and Natalie look phenomenal. She looks fabulous in her summer blonde hair. Thank you for sharing your expertise with me. I enjoy you show so much.
Thank you for sharing and also teaching us you are wonderful at it I personally learn a lot from you so thank you again and also I love your fabrics actually yours are the only ones I like no joke I’m being totally honest with you ❤
Lori watching your videos not only gives me inspirations but so many creative ideas. I love how you organize your fabric scraps. I enjoy watching your videos. It relaxes me so much just by watching you sew or crochet. Thank you!!!!
Lori, I am sew happy to bee able to view your videos. I’ve recently restarted quilting and found your patterns, fabric and videos so inspiring. I am working on my first Lori Holt quilt, The Quilted Snowman. I am loving your fabrics so much. I also recently purchased Vintage Farm Girl 2 book and some Vintage Farm Girl fabric. It looks like I need to get some more of your books and start building my stash. Thank you sew much for all you do!❤❤❤
Lovely video Lori, you are a joy to watch and a wonderful teacher. You never assume that someone will inherently know a technique because we ll learn at different stages. Thank you for sharing.
I couldn't agree more. I've been quilting for a few years but watching Lotus videos always gives me new information and techniques to sew better, save time, save money. Love her!
I really appreciate how you handled the slight variation on the pieces that made up the block. Watching how you created a pleat and ironed it out was very helpful. I would prefer that to ripping out so thank you!
This just popped up at the most opportune time. I just got a BERNINA 770 QE Plus and am anxious to get into quilting again. I look forward to following along on some of your projects. Thank you for sharing!! ❤
I have been a quilter for 30 years. I am now adopting your system for scraps. The binder / calendar will help tremendously. You are such an inspiration to all of us. Thank you for being so generous and sharing your expertise, and knowledge with us.
Happy new year! What a nice surprise to have Lori Holt back to watch. I love this scrappy Quilt and makes me want to get organized with my scraps so I can be making a bonus Quilt like this one. It’s my favorite so far. Thank you for all you do. I love everything Lori Holt. ❣️🧵❣️
Happy New year. It is nice to have you back on the net. I missed watching your videos. I hope you had a nice month of December and could get some rest from all you hard work and some happy family time. We are looking forward to spending more quilting time with you and other quilting tutorials on youtube. A nice change from all the world bad news and terrible things happening all over the world;
I love the quilt. thank you for taking the time to explain how you are using your quilt pages. I look forward to your next video about the other binder pages and to learn more about the pocket camera.
I finally have enough Lori Holt fabric collected to make myself a quilt. Bought the Scrappiness is Happiness book. Now to just pick a pattern 🤔 or block. Love the Daisy chain tutorial. Thank you for all your content. ♥️
Thank you Lori for a great sew your scrap series video. I am really hoping to work every day on getting some WIPS completed and getting my scraps cut and in bins. I thought ahead and took this week off from my 9-5 job so I could focus on my goals for sewing. Of course in the evening I enjoy crocheting. You are a true inspiration and I absolutely love your style of fabrics. Have a blessed day ❤
I love making log cabin and 9 patch blocks above all others. I love this pattern, and I'm so glad you made this video! I always learn something useful from you. Thank you.
Hi Lori! I shopped with my daughter for background whites last weekend. I'm a week late but I'm cutting squares and starting on this quilt today my scrappiness is happiness book got here last week and I'm really pleased with it!!! 💕
Welcome back, Lori! Hope you and yours made wonderful memories together! I spontaneously got a brand new puppy the weekend after Thanksgiving (conveniently forgetting how much work puppies are). With doing that, I totally blew all of my plans for December. Sew, thank heavens for gift cards; because, my sewing machine must think I've abandoned it. Now that my Shadow (yes, that's her name) is on a somewhat normal schedule, I am beginning to pet my fabrics as I walk by it.
Happy New Year. I love the quilt and the binder ❤ I’ve had a three year span where I just couldn’t sew anything. I’m finding my spark again slowly and this was so inspiring. I’ve always loved all of your quilts, fabrics, colors etc. Thank you. Robyn
That happened to me too! I was making three log cabin quilts. I finished all the tops, then decided to get fancy with the backing, doing an Irish chain backing. What a mistake! I hand quilt my backs, and because I was rushing I was careless with the first back. It came out terrible. I had to undo all my quilting stitches on the back. I actually got 2/3 of the way done with the unpicking, and quit. It was that tedious and depressing. That was almost two years ago. I haven't quilted since. I am now ready to finish unstitching that quilt back, darn it! I am ordering a red 108" wide Lori Holt backing from FQS and will use that. Then I'll finish off the other two tops. This is the year! The quilts are for my sisters. Thank goodness I didn't tell them! I learned my lessons from the experience - plan carefully, check my work as I go, don't rush or quilt when you are tired, and keep the backing simple.
This is a comprehensive explanation of scrappy quilt and your Calendar Binders. Great information📍 I started this quilt with my 1.5” Squares. It’s 1st time I’ve actually made a 2nd scrappy quilt while making a regular quilt. THANK YOU ✂️
I’ve been in a sewing blah lately and haven’t touched my machine in over a month! I think this just might be the thing to get me over whatever is going on. Thank you!
Great to see you Lori! I have several of your quilts on the go, and in the process of cutting out. Thank you for your wonderful inspiration, great fabrics, and outstanding tutorials. Look forward to many more happy new year to you and yours. Many blessings.🎉
Happy New Year to you and your family. I really like this simple pattern. I have promised three family members new quilts for 2024 and I believe this would be perfect for one of them. Thank you.
I love all your merch and appreciate you showing us how to 'fix' places that don't quite work out. As a newbie I'm always wondering if I'm the only one that never has anything line up! 🙄Can't wait to see the next video!
Love your quilts, and your organisation if I can achieve half what you do I'll be very happy. I look forward to your tutorials, as I'm quite new to machine quilting, years ago I did it all by hand.
I love how you explained your notebook. I have mine on plain paper and stapled them/each project together. Your book has everything that I was looking for in a sturdier notebook and will be adding to my “need” list. 😊👍👏👏
I just love all the information that you give, I love all your quilts, I am trying to get all my stuff together to start making them, and love your yarn. I do quilts, ceramic, crocheting, wreaths and more, just love crafting. I really appreciate all that you share.

Happy New Year 🎉 Love all your videos ! My sister and I will be starting Home Town soon. She ready now I told her to give me to the 15 th of January. I just move my sewing room to the Master Bedroom in December got to paint the room and no carpet . So Happy but I’m still unpacking so I’m almost done and then can start the Home Town. That was like moving but it’s been good getting organized more and getting things that I don’t want to do no more and donate they. Love the new Binding tools ! ❤️ All you do Thank You so much ! 🪡🧵😃
Thanks for sharing this scrap Buster. I really want to do something in 2024 to use up the things that I have and this will really help. Happy new year!
Happy New Year to you Lori! This is my year to make a quilt. I bought your book, Scrappiness is Happiness and plan to follow your method for managing and using scraps. ❤
Thanks for showing us your steps for the checkerboard quilt, your procedure for preparing your pieces, and the new calendar. I just ordered the new calendar inserts for 2024.
Your sewing machine is epic! One of the best tutorials I’ve ever seen. I made a couple other small ones with pieces left over from bags. But now that I’ve seen this video, I may make my next one like this. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise!
This is my first time watching one of your quilting videos…I really enjoyed….I have a ton of material and squares that my mom and grandmother handed down to me and I’m just now getting into everything that I inherited so I’m excited to try your method. Thank you for sharing 😎
Thank you so much for making a calendar and planner to help keep an accurate record of our quilts. It’s so helpful and I’ve been using it for several projects already. Our quilts will be around long after we’re gone and these journal entries tell a story about each quilt. LOVE IT!!! Seeeew! Cute!❤
Lori, you are so creative and so amazing! I strive to organize my quilting room year after year. Watching how you organize yourself and all of your projects makes so much sense but somehow it escapes me when I try to do it! But you motivate me to keep trying! Plus, you keep making such cute items that I somehow can’t resist. Maybe one day I’ll be able to get my stuff in order. In the meantime, I’ll keep watching you for inspiration!
