Donna, can you please thank whomever does your filming. You are SO good at explaining everything simply and organized...but I'm also so impressed by the camera work! The lighting is spot on and they always film EXACTLY where I would want to look if I was standing there. It makes it so easy to see what you're explaining! As always, love the quilt - love the video!!!!! Thanks!!!
Ive watched a ZILLION quilting/sewing teachers *Starting with "Nancy" of PBS fame. Then, I stumbled on my new Bestie, "Donna Jordan from Jordan fabrics". Yall are my FAVORITES! BEST camera angles, BEST use of my time, BEST patterns, BEST fabric choices and BEST presentation! LOVE YALL!
I think this is the prettiest Irish chain I've seen. When I saw all that wild material I thought oh ,I don't know..but boy I was shocked how beautiful it was. Thank you for doing this for us. ❤
Donna, this turned out so very lovely and lively. You always explain and demonstrate so well. You made a daunting project easier to understand, for me. 🎉😊❤ Thank you for sharing this with us.🍀💖👍🏻🙏🤟
Using the addition of a a floral in the background for a traditional Irish Chain is just stunning! Your choice of fabrics and patterns are always gorgeous! So glad I found your channel ! I look forward to your new videos!
Not a big fan if Kaffe Fascett because of his over the top big prints and bright colors. This much , with the white spaces to rest your eyes, is a very good way that I can use up the jelly roll that someone gave me as a gift! You did a great job!
Donna, your work is fantastic. Am always excited to see how you mix and match fabrics and turn out your master pieces. Thank you and your camera person for the best quality videos all the time. Have a blessed and enjoyable day.
Oh Donna, what an absolutely gorgeous and fun quilt. I have never considered that these two characteristics could be in the same work of art. Your creativity and talent has most definitely made that happen in this beautiful Irish Chain Link quilt. The fabrics and colors you chose are so exciting, delightful arrays of fabulous color that are balanced, harmonious and spectacular. And then... just when I thought your creative achievement had fulfilled its full measure you unveiled a joyful surprise. What a perfectly imaginative, playful and truly beautiful backing you choose! Hearing you say that you thought you would take this quilt home for your bed made me happier..You are working ai hard to help us all. I'm so glad you are keeping this special quilt, designed and made in all ways by you. This quilt will bring joy to you and Matt daily. We all wish you an abundance of joy, health, happiness, and prosperity. Shadow boxes is an exquisite quilt. Giving it as a gift to one of your followers is so incredibly generous. Above and beyond. God bless. Sincerely, Anita Jonsson
This easy to follow pattern really would be a great stash buster of all the scraps waiting in the box. A plain background either black, white or grey would put it all together. Thank you for showing it.
i am seeing a Vet;s quilt in my future. My group does them every year for the new residents that are Veterans and are at our two assisted livings and our nursing home. We try to do different patterns. This one looks fun and easy. Thank you
I love how you select and combine colors and patterns. Have you ever thought of producing a calendar with pictures of your quilts? Or note cards? I bet it would sell!
I wasn’t sure what it was going to look like with the print as the “background” but I love it... might have to add this one to the ever growing list of must do quilt. Thanks Donna
I'd lost my enthusiasm in quilting, just wanted to teach not patch anything until I saw this. I want to try it right now and luckily I have a bedroom and five closets full of fabric so I don't have to wait. Thank you, Donna. ❤
Just finished the last cut for the quilt top. My kido chose a black and white theme...very excited to see how it all lays out once all the two inch strips get sewed back into squares.
Thank you Dona. What a amazing pattern. So colourful and so easy. This is definately on my to do list. I can see how much you enjoy the work you do. It's very much appreciated. Thank goodness for the WWW and you tube.
Здравствуйте Донна! Хочу Вас поблагодарить за Ваше Мастерство, за то , что Ваши видеоуроки самые лучшие из всех мастер классов что я просматривала в интернете. Спасибо.
Love, love, love how simple you made this (as always)! ☺ I've been saving some Kaffe fabric but couldn't find a simple pattern that would make the colors pop. This is perfect. Can't wait to get started on it. I think this will also be the perfect quilt pattern for teenage boys. I'm going to try it first with black squares (rather than large white). I can also see it working great for Quilts of Valor . Thanks SO MUCH for another AWESOME video, Donna. God bless. ☺☺☺
Out of all of the hundreds of quilting tutorials on RUclips, I love Donna's the best! She makes it light, fun, and energetic. Whoever does the editing does a fantastic job. Her tutorials are always a fraction of the time of others, but you are never left with any unanswered questions. Many others, like Shar Jorgenson's, are better than sleeping pills if you are having trouble sleeping, which is ashame considering how talented, and experienced, she is. She should take some teaching lessons from Donna! Thanks Donna! You make quilting so much fun, and after I watch one of your tutorials, I feel like I can master even some of the more difficult designs. You break everything down so that your gorgeous quilts seem obtainable for just about anyone. Thank you!
That is absolutely beautiful Donna. Thanks again for making it feel like it’s manageable for a beginner like me as well as the most experienced quilters.
Thank you Donna. I suffered sudden vision loss last year and am finally able to ease back in. This quilt pattern is one I will tackle. Hubby helps with the cutting!. Its beautiful.
Thank you Donna, for such an inspiring tutorial. I have made the Irish chain patterns many times, but never so glowing and colourful as your beautiful Kaffe Fasset prints. I'll try tomake bolder choices next time.Thank you for all your tips and encouragement. Bless you. Rosemary Reid (N.Ireland) Fasset
I must say your videos are brilliant and the fact you sew the quilt and then we see the finished item but all the hints and tips you also make everything look so easy I’ve started using a weight when I’m cutting and the difference is great no more oops moments thank you so much
I keep watching all your videos and you have tought me so much. I love the stacking and cutting, and, THE WEIGHT! I use the same one and i thank yo for showing that
I really enjoy the way this quilt turned out. I wouldn't have had the nerve to start such a traditional pattern with KF fabric...BUT now I know I need to step outside my own little box. Thanks for leading the way. You inspire us all. I'm looking forward to this challenge.
Wow, quick and easy and Kaffe, all in one video. I quilt for kids, and see how easily this could be translated with my stash of Aunt Grace pastels from the 90s. Thanks for new inspiration! Best wishes to you and Matt, and continued success.
I love the way you break the project down into very do-able steps! It makes it that much more accessible to even a new quilter! Thank you! I love watching your videos!
I just love to watch you. You are my favorite quilter. The fact that you give your patterns freely is just amazing. Thank you so much for all you share
I love how Donna explains everything. She makes quilting look so easy and fun, even though I know it is much more complicated! I am the proud owner of several handmade quilts that my great-grandmother made and handquilted. It amazes me how much work went into these beautiful pieces when all they were doing was making something to keep them warm at night. Thank you for sharing your expertise and love of quilting with us. I have made several small projects but am looking forward to tackling a larger quilt someday (soon I hope!)!!
You are a fantastic teacher! I love how you point out the little things, such as finger pressing and dry iron and then steam - all the little helpful tidbits that increase the accuracy. Nobody does that like you do! I love the attention to detail that helps ensure a wonderful outcome!
I have so many of "your" quilts in my "to do" list, I might have to start buying fabric again to get them all finished. My stash is getting smaller by the day.... Love your work and am very envious of your space. I'm a dining room quilter, and a bedroom quilter, I'm spilling out into the rest of the apt. LOL !!!!!!!!!!
Donna, Donna, Donna! This is GORGEOUS! I love Kaffe fabrics! And using the weight on the ruler is the best tip ever. Thank you so much for sharing this pattern! P.S. Love the Shadow Box quilt, too!
So many variations of this Irish Chain, and this one is pretty nice looking. Thanks for the free pattern and for the tutorial, Good job, Donna I am in the process of making one I call mindless sewing in between other projects..
Ok, I have now watched this tutorial about 8-10 times I want to make 3 of these. Both of our children have wedding anniversaries on the same day as my husband and Mine - 06-07. Ours was in 1980, our daughter's in 2008 and our son's was this past summer in 2021. Also, our last name is Kelly - obviously Irish, and my daughter's last name is now Linder. His family has both German and Irish relatives. Thank you SO much Donna for these tutorials and free patterns. I hope to send you a picture of at least the 2 I make for my kids by this summer 2022.
I thought you was just going to make an Irish Chain and I was a little sceptic when you adding the the other blocks, but when I seen the out come it WOWED ME!!! You did a great job as always!!! Thanks Donna!!🌹
Donna, I just love the way you explain everything ,you are my angel. Once again thank you for taking the time and of course all the freebies you send our way !😍😇 bless you
Donna, I appreciate your talent and grace in sharing that talent. I’ve watched many quilting videos, and your consistency in teaching theory and explanation is the Best. God bless your family. You and a cuppa are my morning routine!
I love all of your videos, and this one is great as always. And your manicures are always amazing. I think I look forward to seeing what you've done with your nails almost as much as the quilt tutorials! 😄 💛
Since I wanted to match to a layer cake I made the strip units 3.5 inches for the 9 patch. Thanks for the great video! I am using all yardage from some of my favorite fabrics for the 9 patch.
I have just started mine! I am very excited! I don't know how I did it, but my 9 patch block is 6.25". I didn't cut my fabric for the solid blocks yet because I was waiting to see if I could be as precise as Donna and Matt....and I obviously can't! It's all good! It will be a little smaller, but that's ok! Thanks for another great tutorial!!!!
Thank You ...Thank you.... Thank you... I have been looking for an Irish Chain patter to make a memory quilt using this pattern for my friend, and this tutorial has given me the inspiration of how to make it for her.
My favourite so far. Your videos are so motivational. You make it look so easy and fun. This one is definitely on my list to make. Love the fabrics you used.
Donna this is really beautiful! I'm not a fan of Kaffe fabrics but this one is just perfect. The colors pop electrically. Your expertise and sharing ignites my motivation. This is such a happy quilt. Thanks for the pattern too.
I love this quilt! I want to make one. I'm not a real experienced quilter (but am working on it). As soon as I finish the "Fast Lane", this is next on my list. You are so good at explaining, you have given me the confidence to make some of these beautiful quilts. Please keep these wonderful videos coming. What a team you and your family make! Thanks again.
Good morning Donna, i have to admit to not being a lover of those big print blocks when they were on the roll or when they were laid out, but oh boy did that quilt turn out fair bonnie when it was finished. I was swaying when you changed the layout from the same big blocks on the rows to mixing them up, but finished it is so bonnie and what a rare size for a bed. I like big overhangs on my beds, although i am covering up the oak beds, but i love my duvet sets to have a matching throw that overhangs and pillow shams to finish it off. Adding in for pillow shams flower how much extra fabric would you need to get on top of the actual quilt supplies? Thank you flower for another great tutorial that explains all the whys and wherefors and howtos. I wish you could know just how many peoples lives you have widen in imagination and skill, because of you kind and gentle manner and generosity of spirit in wanting everyone to get a feeling of achievement in being able to accomplish making something so beautiful and so useful. Have a lovely day Jordans' fabrics and crafty hugs from Norah, Glenochil Village, Central Scotland
Norah McPhee I am from Glasgow but living in the States. What stitch size do you use for making the duvet covers? I’ve never made one but want to give it a go. TIA.
Thinking about making an on point version of this to use some Kaffe precuts I purchased. I like the bg fabric next to all those gorgeous prints/colors as in my opinion the bg allows each fabric to shine without overwhelming the senses. I also picked up some one yard cuts of a few prints Your pattern helps resolve the need for more yardage for borders to make a good sized bed quilt which is very helpful because I am actually in need of a new quilt for my bed. Thank You for sharing your experience/tips for success/patterns. I have learned so much over the years & am always happy with the results when I make one of Your patterns/kits. The tip about using the weight to improve accuracy has made a big difference for me. Thank You so much :)
I love this pattern have made it 3 times with different kaffee fabric, all receiptientantss loved loved them. Thank you for such a educational video tutorial.
This is lovely. Thank you for sharing the pattern. I needed a nice thank you gift for my neighbors, they took care of me this summer after I broke both ankles. They are such dear people.
Donna, I rarely comment on videos but this so beautiful, no wonder it’s going home with you. A simple design that even a new quilter could do. I’ve just acquired a semi industrial Bernina, inspired by your commercial Juki. I hope Jordan Fabrics are gong to be at the Festival of Quilts at the NEC in Birmingham UK 2020, I would love to meet you and thank you in person for your RUclips tutorials!!
Have wanted to make an irish chain quilt for a very long time. I like your method of cutting and construction. Very well presented. I need to fabric shop and make one asap.
I’ve always wanted to do an Irish chain and now it definitely will move up on my “to do” list! I absolutely love the addition of the colored background fabric!
Absolutely love this Irish Chain. Have been wanting to do one for quite a while! Debating between blue and white. But now I am thinking I may do this scrappy. Just love your tutorials! Turned all my friends onto your videos also! We are all big fans! Thanks for teaching us how to quilt!
thank you for all the free patterns....!!! I enjoy ALL your videos !!! I don't feel like an idiot when I listen to you explain things...I've been a sewist/quilter for many years now, but I still love to watch others create. ;D
Donna, you make everything look so easy!!! Love the look of this one, but mine needs to be smaller (full size), beautiful colors! I reakky appreciate that you don't use fancy rulers and a new sewing machine either. Thanks for all the free pattern uploads.
I really love this Irish chain quilt. I'm all about bright colors! It has an old fashion look and yet modern as well. You did a beautiful job! Oh, and I love Van Gogh, my tablet cover is Stary Night. Thanks for sharing!
I love the Irish chain pattern and have wanted to try it for years. I even bought a book for it. But it was so complicated and intimidating. You made it so easy!! I'll be making a lap size one tonight!!!! Thank you! Thank you!!! Edit: I made this in lap size that evening. So gorgeous!!! I dont usually use a white background, but it really made my bright fabrics pop! Donna thank you again for making this pattern easy to follow!!!!!
I love this one! Already downloaded the pattern, it will be the next one I do. Thanks for all your wonderful videos and patterns, I would be bankrupt if I lived close to your shop! lol
I am just beginning to practice getting accurate piecing down-pat. The Irish Chain has been one of my all time "wanna-do" patterns and I like this variation. It should be a good one for me as a beginner since it is all squares ... no triangles or hour glasses. Thanks for the pattern AND, as usual, for your generous give-aways.
Another beautiful video and pattern; thank you. I enjoy reading the comments and have to say I too have added this to my list of "quilts I want to make." You have me so enthused all I have to do is say "Alexa, add Chain Links to my quilts list!!"
Донна, у вас замечательные работы!! Большое спасибо, что делитесь с нами своим мастерством! И еще -- огромная благодарность за ссылку на бесплатные шаблоны ваших великолепных квилтов!! Удачи вам, процветания и всего самого доброго!!
This is a beautiful quilt and Donna, you are so enthusiastic and give excellent instructions. I think even I can attempt this quilt. I actually have many of those Kaffe Fassett strips!
Taking one home for your bed after all you have given away? It's about time! This one is so perfect for spring, too. Nice work, nice fabric choices, and fantastic quilt!
Donna, can you please thank whomever does your filming. You are SO good at explaining everything simply and organized...but I'm also so impressed by the camera work! Love this! Adding the large floral prints mixed with the 9 patches makes it pop. Starting this one today-thank you Donna!
Fantástico lindo lindo amei
LOVE the Irish Chain! Especially love the warm colors.
Beautiful, another one on my ‘to-do’ list!
I think the hardest part of this quilt would be to choose which 20 strips to leave out. 😆. TFS 🐢
Donna you have such a great eye for color! I love how this quilt turned out!! Fabulous!
thank you for all the free patterns....!!! I enjoy ALL your videos !!! I don't feel like an idiot when I listen to you explain things...I've been a sewist/quilter for many years now, but I still love to watch others create. ;D
Donna I love that you used Kaffe fabrics for your quilt. This will be another one I will be making at some time. Thanks again for your pattern.
Donna gives the BEST tutorials
I received a weight for Christmas... ABSOLUTELY the best item in my repertoire! Thanks for the WONDERFUL suggestion!
I don’t know who does the video and editing, but I just wanted to say it’s perfect. Good job - I’d like to try this pattern, too!
Donna, you make everything look so easy!!! Love the look of this one, but mine needs to be smaller (full size), beautiful colors! I reakky appreciate that you don't use fancy rulers and a new sewing machine either. Thanks for all the free pattern uploads.
I love both the colors and your pattern for this quilt. It is very beautiful.
I really love this Irish chain quilt. I'm all about bright colors! It has an old fashion look and yet modern as well. You did a beautiful job! Oh, and I love Van Gogh, my tablet cover is Stary Night. Thanks for sharing!
I’m impressed. The instruction, creativity, attitude, everything in these videos is perfect.
Have you thought of doing a vid on how you put the quit tops on the long arm for quilting? I would love to see the process you use.
I love this one! Already downloaded the pattern, it will be the next one I do. Thanks for all your wonderful videos and patterns, I would be bankrupt if I lived close to your shop! lol
WOW,what a beautiful quilt. I may have to make this for my grandson and his bride to be.
I’ve done an Irish chain but I’m going to do another one now that I’ve seen your version! Wow!

You What a fun colorful quilt. Thanks to you I am getting better matching my block points. Thank you. Love your videos.
What a great way to fold the background and cut the strips
This is the easiest tutorial for this quilt ever! Thanks so much. Love that Kaffe fabric.
My son love this quilt. Thanks so much for your great videos. They are so helpful
Donna this is stunning. You are such an inspiration. Thank you and Matt for all you share with us.
Taking one home for your bed after all you have given away? It's about time! This one is so perfect for spring, too. Nice work, nice fabric choices, and fantastic quilt!
It’s a beautiful quilt and you did an amazing job. Your quilts are inspirational. Thank you for another wonderful pattern, Donna Jordan.
I like this fast and easy way to do an Irish chain. Love your color choices too!😁👍
