- Virat Kohli being the king of the cricket has millions of followers in Instagram. But when we talk about football legends like Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, he is far behind.
Cricket is religion in India, but when we talk about its popularity in other part of the world, its not at all comparable as compared to the Soccer or football.
Many question arises that why cricket is not so popular.
In this video I have firstly compared the figures between cricket and football and then pointed the main reasons that why cricket is not so popular in other part of the world.

Even in AU/UK cricket is not popular. It's a lazy mans game like lawn bowling, mostly standing doing nothing.
Even former British colonies like Malaysia/ Singapore due to early development after WW2 discarded cricket. Reason for this, all kids went to school and mostly had 1-2 hours in the evening play time, kids wants to have go and run but cricket does not provide that.
Hence cricket died a natural death.
Personally when I watch Indian news or programs on cricket can't understand why this guy's have tummy and standing mostly are called athletes.

In order to make cricket popular ICC needs to make associate members popular and their matches popular. ICC needs to follow the way of FIFA standards. Making all the ICC member play qualifying round to qualify for World Cup. For example, if India were to play a series against China and South Africa were to play a series against Uganda and Australia were to play a series against Papua New Guinea, nobody would bother to watch it. Nobody would show interest to telecast the match. But...what if that is a match of Qualifying round for World Cup and any of these top country are at risk of not qualifying if they loose? Everyone would be interested. Infact, other nation and media would be interested as well. Associate country would get sponsorship, money and broadcaster as well. Even if a rank 20 and rank 25 nation plays football match it gets the same attention as the upper 10. They get sponsorship, viewership and audience. Why that doesn't happen in cricket? Because, team like China never gets to play India, Australia or England.

More countries does not mean cricket is growing its popularity. ICC just wants to make the tournament run for longer periods. India also has a baseball team( i guess you found it now that i have told you😂) but do we give any 'F' to baseball. Simple as that. Cricket is dying even in countries like Australia and England. Take for example the 2023 ICC WC final Australia won so i looked for some videos of Australians celebrating by putting on big screens getting out in roads in masses to celebrate but i didn't find any videos(now don't tell me its was midnight so they were sleeping,c'mon dude its WC final) its bcoz even Australia don't give a fuck about cricket anymore. Another example just look at how the English always goes in huge numbers to support their Football team but we hardly saw any such huge masses of English cricket fans during the 2023 WC which was held in our country. All these points that cricket outside India is already dead. And it will also die here in India after some time. The only way to save it is through T20 format and T20 leagues. After Australia won the WC it was then the Aussies knew that WC was going on.

What you wrote idk its exactly correct or not but you said Ashes is more popular in England and Australia yes thats right. But try to understand Cricket popularity is already dead outside Asia. Even cricket experts are saying that 2027 might be the last 50 overs WC cause no one has that much of patience and time to sit and watch for such long periods. And moreover the reason why cricket isn't popular around the world its because its a really complicated game. Cricket is the only Sport which has so many versions of itself Test, 5O overs, T20 and a few years ago a new kid was born T10. Also in England there are only a few regions where they take cricket seriously and in Australia its more of like a summer sport. Same goes for South Africa and NZ. Cricket peaked in the 1990s where all teams were equally strong. Seriously tell me whats the point of conducting the bilateral ODI series whats the point? The only way to save Cricket is through T20 Leagues around the world and only the T20 WC should be held every 4 years. I was also a die hard cricket fan 3 years ago but now i watch Football more than Cricket and i can say its much more interesting ( i know this comparison is out of the box cause both are two different sport but i am saying in terms of fast paced action and fun). I am going to make another funny comparison look we have more teams in ISL than we have in IPL😂. And a new team Mohammedan SC will be included in the next ISL season all these points that football has much faster growth potential than cricket. I know its difficult for us cricket lovers to accept this harsh reality but watch football once you will ignore cricket after it😂( if you wish to).
