      There are not good coaches
In ISL they must buy good European coaches for players experience they must learn from those coaches experience and after they are developed enough the Indian coaches have experience in working in them and ISL could be a lot better

Straight forward answer is there is a gap in skills. To do wonders with the national team, players have to be on the same level as their european or south american counterparts. Numerous teams, leagues, scouting managers picking up players in bulk. Work visa should be sorted but the real issue isn't that.

My man... World Cup is a different ball game. With such gap in skills, it's unfortunately a distant dream. Top 3 or 4??? Come on man... be a bit realistic. When u dominate ur local leagues, continental championships consistently, then it gives u some chance. Also, a few Asian teams are top of the line to just qualify for World Cup, leave alone top 3-4. Rest won't even make it close.
But again, we lose matches against mediocre Asian teams too.
Just check the difference in pace, physical ability and difference of dominance between the last match of India n China.

Messi or Ronaldo wouldn't have reached this level if they had only played for Argentina/Portugal n their local leagues. Hope u get this.

Look @@saunakbakshi4032 . Here jinghan is talking about playing for european football giant clubs. In you are simply insisting for playing in europe , see there are many many mediocre clubs rampant , infact they stand exactly where indian football stands today, their skill set is somewhat equivalent to indian standards or few indian players are much better than them. But, are they inviting indians to play for them ? Of course not. Because work laws simply do not allow..I feel, may be jinghan might not have said it in exactly same words, but it is true that racism is the thing that hinders indians' entry in european clubs.

It’s so good to see Sandesh do well . Saw him first when he partnered Anwar Ali at the back for United Sikkim and he looked a level above anyone else . Not surprised to see him play for India after that .But to play in Europe , Indian football needs to change everything . Kids needs to get exposed to proper coaching , facilities tournaments at a very young age . We can’t produce world class talents when we start nurturing a prospect from ages 16,18 .. The thing is India needs to be genuinely contending within Asia first and then think about Europe. If you are in the top 10 countries of Asia, then it would cascade on your rankings and everything else which would open the door for Europe. There is the shift in the metros from Cricket to Football, as you mostly see young kids playing a football game rather than Cricket.

I think he should have elaborated more on "The Law" situation. Why certain numbers of foreign players are allowed to play for a club in a league. Many common people don't know the Regulations of FIFA or the Rules of Football Governing body of perticular Country.
We cannot just allow the whole team to built around foreign players just to win a title. Like that our local talents will be neglected hence our local players won't get the exposure/experience to develop themselves.
As Sunil Chettri once said "we need to play more often with the bigger teams to develop ourselves", and people should start watching more often so that more revenue would generate, which can be invested for better infrastructure for Indian Football.

So any top team need 17 players and these are the only positions our Indian talents would be looking at (provided they never played in Europe before they turned 18 ). Now it comes to exposure to their game, since our players never play in Europe they are not used to the high intensity game . Once they start playing I think they will surely adapt.

    1. In order to play or get work permit to play in top 5 leagues in Europe your national team ranking has be within 50.
    2. Unless we improve our domestic league standards, improving grassroots programs and get a large pool of talent fighting for places or just to be pro footballer will contribute immensely.
    3. Focus on youth league, football culture and increase the talent pool.
    4. Making pro football career a lucrative one for young Indians
    5. Improve our national team rankings will automatically increase chances of Indian players playing in foreign leagues starting in top Asian league and later on in Europe.

They start playing football at age 3-5 properly ( Juvenile Club )
Our boys start it at age 10 and even then, they start playing at the highest level at age 14 ( country + ISL )
So we can't compete with them, just because the rest of the world starts very early and their intensity is higher.

Food habbit, excercises and practice is important...the stamina is really not enough.. We in the hilly area, we usually run up there for an hours,, but you should accept that now Indian football teams stamina is really not enough even running in plain field. Enough food habbits counts for body, do remember. Best of luck!

I think us reaching the world cup would be long and arduous task. But nevertheless we should strive for it. To make a team we need great player. For sourcing players for the indian team we require strong ISL teams and we also need to promote more clubs. We need funding for these teams so that genuine players can dive in to create a career. Even though he does not make it to the national squad, still he should be able to earn enough. This way we have a larger pool of players to pick from. Even though being a fifth of the world we may have the potential players, but that potential is been squandered away. We are stepping forward in the right direction but it will take long.

For now our target should be to do better in Asia. Get into top 10

Pakistani here. And what he says, "Just that you were not born there..." I feel like he has hit the jackpot with that point.; WHY? Cause the community. Community. One thing I will say is that Indian community in terms of Tech and CS jobs etc (just a comparison), is far better and far more helping and far more open in settling people from their own home country in a jiffy. Just like that. And I like that part. I admire it. Whereas Pakistanis do that too, however not that much.
Now coming to the point, "Khel nahi skty, wahan paida nahi huay, law allow nahi karta." I have just one thing to say. Standard. The mentality in Indians and Pakistanis.... is to "WORK". I am talking MAJORITY here not the 10 percent per se.
The reason is that they want THEMSELVES to be up there. and they will not allow. Us Indians and Pakistanis DO NOT HAVE STANDARDS. I am sorry to say. So many people wanna leave the country for a better future rather than making it here. I am one of them sadly. And we will require much much much more time to be at that level ever again. Forget Pakistani football just take Indian for now. Like he says, never will be so quick.

I think we are 20 years behind the epl standards. Indian football players let alone the epl, they won't even qualify for semi pro leagues in the uk like national leagues, since they don't have that potential. It's nowhere related to where we are born we see players from Ecuador, Venezuela etc coming to premier league just because they have potential. We are way behind football and I don't see any players or talents from isl playing in any leagues in the uk.

Developing skills like a European or South American professional footballer will take time. We also need to understand the level of encouragement the spectators are giving in those big leagues. Here in India people consider cricket as the greatest sport and for that reason in cricket we are doing well and players are skilled, whereas in those European countries, their people consider football as their greatest sport, players are more skilled... Maybe some countries like ENG, and AUS are exceptions. The same question can be asked to a person from those countries "When will a player from our country play in IPL(keeping in mind that football/soccer is way ahead when compared to cricket in terms of popularity)" ... Every region/country have more support to a certain sport so in that case it will take time for other sport to develop and flourish....

Cricket doesn't need a culture like football. Ever heard of Afghanistan in cricket before 2015. But from nowhere a Rashid Khan and Mohammed Nabi pops out and plays IPL regularly. There is certainly no comparison between cricket and football in this regard.

My solution is simple, play in Samba League or in the Argentine League or in J League or in K League or in Saudi League or in the A League down under. The point is we need a conduit where Indian players play in these leagues and build a style free from Europe. The reason why Koreans and Japanese succeeded is cause they went to Brazil, Korea, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Columbia, Australia, New Zealand and developed a domestic scene. We don't need to play in Europe, we need to improve our players.
