He sure did I stopped watching his videos awhile back when COVID hit and I couldn’t get to the gym and gained some weight. But he sure taught me a lot and I feel really bad about not watching him he taught me more then just fitness I realize that now. Rest up John and I hope your boys and wife are holding up may good bless them
Binge watching episodes I missed. Can’t believe we lost you so young. I’ve been lifting 30 years and yet learned so much from you in the past few years. You absolutely were a teacher John and you won at life. RIP brother.
Very genuine, humble and an awesome family man I can actually relate too. The dude deserves a million subs. No smoke and mirrors here folks just great information.
1:03 - Be humble, kind and loving 1:50 - Valuing friends and family 4:09 - Handling Pain 5:39 - Believe in yourself 9:05 - Helping others 10:50 - Staying focused 12:36 - Just have fun I wish more people can see this video and LISTEN. I think number 8 could be "listen more than you speak". Thanks for the great video!
What a fantastic human being. Even though he’s gone lessons like these will never stop being relevant or true. We were truly gifted to share the earth with this guy. There is no replacing a MountainDog!!!! Rest In Peace, John.
Besides bodybuilding, I think being a good person and raising a family that loves you, respects you and looks up to you for guidance is the ultimate goal as a man.
I’ve followed John for years. Done many of his workouts, used many of his tips. Two years ago i blew out my shoulder and took a lot of time away from the gym. Lost motivation. Finally got back in, caught covid. Got back in, got in a car accident that injured that same shoulder again last December. I’m still recovering from that, but watching John has kept me motivated to keep going. I built a new program using different workouts hes posted, and taken some of his diet advice like adding eggs and making sure they’re cooked sunny side up to keep the nutrients at their best. John, you’ve taught me a lot, motivated me, and helped me look at life through a more positive lens in dark times. Thank you, you will NEVER be forgotten
Really going to miss these types of videos. You had a way of bringing positivity into every video. Always walked away feeling motivated. May you rest peace.
THIS video should be one of the main ones we remember this legendary teacher for! John, there are a LOT of us who are better people because of who you were. I for one will always remember...and will always do. (humble bow) RIP Mountaindog.
Too many people are money slaves, without understanding money comes with passion, so does career. If someone don't make so much money, so what? You have faught for your dream, thats the real purpose for one to live a life. It is amazing you have this balanced and healthy mindset, John! Such a kind person.
A great way to win at life is by not only being grateful but showing gratitude. I appreciate you John and I'm grateful for you. You have a lot of great insight and positivity but at the same time you don't sugar coat things and keep it real. I came for the lifting and nutritional advice, but what you publish is more enriching then just that. Thank you
We miss you man. Hope you knew how much you meant to us. I still watch this video almost every day when I’m straying off the path. You were the father I never had. I just bought the shirt you’re wearing last week, can’t wait to make it my new lucky gym shirt. We love you Mary and the kids! There will never be another John Meadows!
Awesome message. I'm saddened that he's just now on my radar after his passing. Thank goodness he created so many moments like this through RUclips videos.
I had my doubts clicking on this video. I thought it was gonna be another corny motivational video. But it really was different. You spoke the truth in this video, and much of what you said hit very close to home. Thank you
Once again, I find myself revisiting John's masterful speeches. He said he might have chosen to be a teacher. He was indeed that. Gonna miss all the knowledge he had left to give. God speed sir. Thanks for making us all better humans.
John, you were so full of love and had a God given gift to make others better! You inspired this pastor to work hard and help others be all they can be. To your family...thank you for sharing this incredible mentor with us. May God bless you, comfort you and provide for you.
I had a dream the other night I was in a nutrition store and I saw him fixing up some products in the store. Sounds crazy but I swear it was realistic, I went up to him and said no shit John meadows, I follow your platform and big fan your information and advice has helped me a lot. He gave me a pep talk like in sandlot when babe Ruth spoke to the kid. Told me no matter what it’s never gonna be easy but if you stick to your goals, you will always achieve anything. Then he gave me a fist bumb. Never met the dude. It was as real as day. Rip.
You’re like a father figure I never got as a child. Thank you for making these videos, they make more of a difference in people’s life than you know :)
I know you’re not with us anymore but I needed to hear this so bad right now. Thank you for everything you did John. I wish the best for your family and for you. RIP
I take your advise to my job, lifting, and life. I work at a small medical device company and have responsibilities that grow bigger each day. During this quarantine, I have not had the gym to fall back on. I have adapted, overcame, and will continue to grow. I know I and WE will all get through this! Thanks John for inspiring me and the rest of your followers!
around a year and a half ago I commented on one of your videos about intra workout I was 300lbs over weight at the time and last year I got on stage for the first time at 189lbs. You are one of my idols and heroes. This year with covid and everything going on I feel lost and depressed. I have a great coach but even he isn't sure how to help me right now. This video actually made me cry a little bit because it really meant a lot for me to hear this from you publicly today,. I don't normally get this emotional, but thank you, John. I'm going to go pump up in my tinny home gym with the inspiration I got from you today.
What an amazing man. Sure do miss you john. Thank you John's family for keeping his channel going and reposting his videos. My condolences and prayers go out to you and the family
I agree with everything you said, only thing I don’t have is the friendship, I have my family and that means everything to me. I also have my faith and God that completes me!
John's kids are very lucky to have a father like him. Ive always had an absent father who ended up leaving us, I always felt inadequate as to being a man and many aspects of life because of that. I'm slowly starting to take control of my life from depression and everything around me, believe it or not once I started training my mindset became more goal oriented. John and his videos are pretty big part of that process. I believe in almost everything this man teaches such as values, training, life lessons etc. Long story short thank you John you're definetly winning at life in my opinion.
Thank you Rob. I never had a father personally. Left when I was born, and part of a kind of ugly story. I feel a calling in life to be a good dad though. Thank you so much for your support, keep up the good work!
John, you’re one of the most positive, most likeable, and knowledgeable trainers and business owner that I know of. Thank you for such an inspirational and helpful video.
Great message during a time when every one is questioning themselves and their lives. For me , Its Faith and Family , without those two things a man is nothing. God Bless you and yours and thanks for all that you do.
No thank you John it is well past time but I have seen you 2 years back it’s bit painful because I can see you were a good man I will see to donating anything I can to your family le
What is interesting too is that, from what I have understood, John was also a man of faith. And that faith was proven by the way that he lived and loved others. People saw in him what they wanted to be themselves. This is the beauty of a life lived well. Peace be with you, John. Go with God.
How can you not like this man?. This man truly loves bodybuilding , his family and his audience . I like buying from people like this . I like listening like folks like this .. Nobody is perfect , I’m sure John has his demons , but we all do. However , he is an awesome dude . God bless this man
There are so many great people providing useful fitness/nutrition info here on RUclips. What sets John apart is his wisdom from experience and calm, positive presence. Easily my fave channel in the fitness community. A lot of guys can give you good advice, equivalent to what an older brother could offer. John is out here with dad-level advice - whether it’s in the gym, the kitchen, or just about life in general.
I never knew you, rarely ever commented but I was an avid viewer and most definitely a huge fan. Learning about your death a week ago, I was and am devastated. I can only imagine what your wife, sons, family and friends are feeling through their loss. You Sir, have succeeded in life and will live on. You have accomplished that goal in life!! You are the BEST of us and I appreciate all you have stood for. RIP John Medows. . . .
Your point about helping others is actually what Maslow was exploring later in his career, a level above self-actualization called transcendence or doing something beyond oneself. I couldn't agree more.
R.I.P. Mr. Meadows. I feel ashamed that I failed to get know him earlier, and I am grateful in the same time for being able to still do so and learn from him. Thanks for keeping this channel up!
You've definitely attracted/cultivated one of the most positive and supportive communities I've seen on RUclips, Mountain Dog. Love your videos....and the physique. Hope everyone is safe and well in this madness!
Number 2 hits me hard to be honest. i have so much pain mentally and physically, left my family which didnt understand me and they just say "whats wrong with you you are ok" no im not. so I left them, put some negativity away from live. after time i take my self more and more back, lost friends aswell. 24/7 im in thoughts, which seems to others im a arrogant mofo... the only thing which kept and keep me alive is going to the gym and train the fuck out of my soul. having a goal to look up to. ( which currently is hard, i cant do homeworkouts cause of the mentioned problems) got depressions aswell. so after you mentioned happieness, i just cried, cause i have none lol
That’s an outstanding 7 John. I agree with them all, especially ‘Believe in Yourself’. If you don’t believe in [or love or trust or...] yourself, no one else will. It has to be genuine. You can’t fake it. Something else that has come up in a few books that I have read recently regarding this topic is ‘Being Present in the Moment’. No matter what it is-eating breakfast, going on a walk, talking with a friend, working, etc-make an effort to be in the moment, to focus, to pay attention, to devote yourself to what is going on in your life at that very moment. Open all of your senses up and you’ll soon realize that we miss out on wonderful details all around us everyday because we aren’t truly present. Savor each moment in life because once the moment passes it is gone forever.
I graduated two years ago with a degree I didn't care about and have been totally lost and wandering since then. A lot of people have made fun of me and my confidence has been shattered. I realized recently what was really imporant to me after I started working out and I want to go back to school to study Physiotherapy after witnessing my dad having a stroke and working with Physios to regain control of his life. I'll have to go back to high school first to study biology and I'll only graduate by the time I'm around 30, but I'd rather start late than never and end up in a dead end career I don't care about anyways. What I was really missing was goals and people who belived in me. Thank you for the great video bro.
I just never give up, been stepping up my goals last few months, just need to be patient and don't surrender. And I've made progress in the 3 months I have fully dedicated myself
You are actually are a teacher. I am a PE teacher by profession learning so much from you on this time of being home bound. If more people lived by these 7 ways the world would sure be a better place. Thank you so much for all the time and effort you put into your channel. God bless you.
Damn, I lost my dad at 12yo, I wish I had a recording of him saying stuff like this... for John's kids, I know right now everything seems so unfair, but trust me, having this video, to hear your dad talk with you is priceless...
Make sure you try my home workouts ruclips.net/p/PLNAUreWTt_Sg9DvgFlEGhFULnfJoBFs9K
