I have such great memories of the White Western Star (WWS). I struggled a lot on the dam map to drag it out of its discovery location, but when I finally got it back to the garage, my entire gameplay experience skyrocketed!
I definitely understand what you mean, but based on my findings with saddle low/ crane verses the option you mentioned and also the truck taking a lot of finesse; I felt it should be there. However the fleetstar is still a very capable truck if we have patience. I do also understand that there would be people who disagree and that’s alright ya know; we have our own opinions and reservations
Great video, I appreciate how difficult it is to rank these. So much to consider, and can't wait for the next tier! I might as well throw in my input for all to consider: I would rank the Kodiak over the CT680 because its size and maneuverability make it an interesting cross between a scout and heavy duty. It can go down tighter trails these other trucks will struggle with, which is pretty unique among the American trucks. I get that many players might not bother to use it in that role, so I understand why you ranked it where you did.
That was a great listing, but in my opinion I would definitely put the fleet star at the next bracket. Just because of the fact you get the fleet smart right off the bat and has all the options except for unlockable diff. I've used that thing on every map. But you did forget to mention on the fleet star you're able to hook a trailer up with a sideboard bed and the Crane. And I wouldn't say it's as tippy as the BM17.
I mostly agree. I think I'd put the White Western into A though, I think in the long run it'd end up as a low A truck. The American trucks are underrated, they can be well used with good driving but for the most part they all share a common disadvantage, excessive wheel spin. The White Western and the heavy class Navistar and Western Star Twin-Steer are some of the only American trucks that can "do it like the Russian trucks" so to say. I remember I used my White Western even well into Taymir and it did very good. I think the White western is better then some Russian trucks like the Step, but it's not going to compete with the high A's like the Tayga's or Voron's. But yea low A by the end of it all, I don't feel right with it only high B.
Love the WWS. Did some crazy things with it and I used it for so long until I got my hands on the Russian trucks. Found it struggle with loads like concrete slabs. especially when going up the quarry in Smithville Dam. Almost lost my mind getting out of there with a semi trailer....
I'd argue the white western star is an A. that truck is easy to max out and once it is maxed out nothing stops it, not mud nor ice nor bumpy roads. For as early as you can get it, it's incredibly reliable. Plus it has a wide wheel base making it more stable than most trucks its size.
Good thing about the GMC MH95 is that it can upgrade tire size without using raised suspension to help a little bit with stability, so if you don't need the raised I would drive without it. I also found it to be very good with the highway box and it trots along on H-gear just fine in most areas. Recently used it haul the big 4-slot drill parts in Michigan and had very few issues with it. Very underrated truck but I blame that on the AWD upgrade coming much later and needing a DLC.
That’s true with the tire size. And yes a lot of trucks can fly with high range. I believe it on this one. This is something I speak about all the time is base game vehicles upgrades coming too late in the game
I used the heck out of the Kodiak C70 early game, dozens of hours. I actually used it as a scout more than the scouts. I found it was better than all the early "scouts" until I got the Loadstar or Yar (can't remember which one I got first)
Great idea for a video series. I prefer the stability of the GMC 9500 over the Fleetstar. Even with just difflock I find it more enjoyable to use. Keep up the great videos.
the GMC is a really great truck for me, when I need to go off-road with those off-road tires and 6WD and diff. and its one of the only trucks with the crane+ bed + trailer setup. and it has good styles and when i played with the brigadier the MH9500 performed better. and the MH9500 is 70k cheaper. and it has a good horn in my opinion by the way.
The MH9500 is a really good truck, especially for being a highway truck. I definitely feel it has its issues as a lot of American Trucks do, but for sure a good truck. I would make sure to use the Middle engine instead of the 3rd option. It has more power and better consumption.
I have to say though that the White Western Star is probably, right now my favorite truck in the game. :) For the most part I ignored the heavy duty class, but lately I said what the hell I'll try some. For light and medium hauling, I think that there is no better truck than the White Star. It can do everything, it can go everywhere (if you are careful) it has loads of power, it has decent tire choices (for an american truck) it is extremely stable, it's wheelbase and turning circle make it very nimble and it's such a fun and satisfying drive. I can and will take out heavier trucks based on the task, but if it's a task that takes max two loads, or doesn't require a trailer and a huge amount of power the White Star is usually my first choice. After this video I have to check out the CT681 I've kind of ignored it because of the weak tire choices and the stock suspension (and the dead axle) but after this video I will definitely be checking it out, and the other top tier heavy duties as well. So thanks for the video.
The WWS 4964 is really one of the more balanced overall great trucks in the game. It’s really a workhorse. Great points again! I think you’ll enjoy the CT681, I have played in on past live streams if you wanted to see more gameplay as well

I dinged it there because it doesnt necessarily weigh as much as the trucks placed in A, doesnt have better tires options and sizes, and also its power isnt where I would like to see it. Flawless! Really great video. I want to ask you a question Nate, In which conditions the CT681 dead axle is useful? I use it rarely since I think when I engage it the truck turn radius quality decreases a lot.
Thank you! So that’s a good question. The only scenario I find it useful is when you have really heavy cargo that can make you too heavy. The 681s suspension is compressed right, so when you lower the axle it does two things. It gives a slight bump in clearance (very slight) and also provides lateral stability at the cost of grip because it’s taking weight off power driven axles. I don’t think the drop axle should be used much, but with things like Tanker addons or logs, it can help. The slight bump in clearance allows the vehicle to actually absorb some terrain shock when hitting things, but still. I wouldn’t straight up trust it. The problem with the CT681 is although it’s very stable, it’s suspension doesn’t aid in stability because it doesn’t give much. I hope that makes sense

After playing with the more powerful classes, I have to say making use of these two classes does feel good. In hardmode I use highways as support vehicles and the heavy duty trucks for missions if the conditions are less challenging than Amur
When you want a little challenge. I always try to find the "Goldilocks" level of truck for what I am doing. If it's too OP that can be boring. Not up to snuff and it can turn into a slog. And also there is no hard and fast rule for my Goldilocks zone. It can change with my mood. I've had times I went through hell sending 5 trucks in total trying to rescue my first one that got stuck. I've had others where I just want to get a task over with so I throw some modded beast at it. I also sometimes RP in my head that I am going to have a job done by "the lowest bidder" and sometimes that's a doof in a highway truck. BTW on the other side of the spectrum there is actually a great feature of OP trucks that people never talk about! And that is that if you can plow through stuff without much thought it allows you to just enjoy playing from the driver's seat view and take in the scenery.
Curious why you are using the stock engine on the GMC MH9500. The SI 6V 2100 has got the best power from those 3 available. Not much difference between them tho
I probably was swapping engines around for testing and such. Ya it does have 5,000 more torque rating which isn’t a ton, but it will make a small difference.
I actually misspoke it was actually almost 2200 after calculating the days played on Epic and adding the hours from Steam. That’s still a lot of hours for you for sure! We must love the game
Well you might have had some issues with it. We all have different experiences with these vehicles ya know? However, From my tests and info from a few others who have tested it as well, I think it’s average at best.
@Brian Jake Gaming, highrange and custom tuned suspension? I dunno. I tested it with a log loader crane + long logs carrier combo, 'cause it is the only medium truck that can install it. That crane is rising center of mass a lot, so maybe without it it's not that bad.
@Brian Jake Gaming, I bought the DLC solely for this purpose: I needed a self-loading logging truck for long logs. But having in mind that I wanted it for Michigan and similar types of maps, all existing trucks with this combo were just too huge and bulky for that region.
@Brian Jake Gaming, at the time I bought the GMC, I haven't yet unlocked it. And yeah, its also bulky and huge. And guzzles fuel like crazy (well, the Brigadier is not better LOL)
I'd just remove all of these trucks from the game they're just plain useless. Having a highway category for trucks in this game is like if call of duty gave you a banana as a "weapon" option. There are no highways in the game and as soon as any of these trucks see 1in of dirt or mud they just get stuck.
Well it might seem that way, but honestly I think they are useful in some ways. I’ve reviewed them and explained how. Another thing I’ve done a lot is use them in some moderate areas with some conditions that allow them more grip. They are really hard to use. You definitely are right. I do use them as much as I can still in hard mode. I do completely understand what you mean though

2600+ hours😱, i thought i have a lot of hours with 1630
I actually misspoke it was actually almost 2200 after calculating the days played on Epic and adding the hours from Steam. That’s still a lot of hours for you for sure! We must love the game
Dat spoiler up front, lol.
Ya but if you do want a lil more detail, my truck reviews will be a lil more of an in-depth version of this.
the Brigadier is awful in terms of stability, wtf
The croco truck didn't make it on this list 😆
The croc is a off-road truck and no it didn’t actually. I made this set of videos before it came out.
@@NProvince my bad, damn district he said it was heavyduty 😅
@@boyjorge No worries :)
I'd just remove all of these trucks from the game they're just plain useless. Having a highway category for trucks in this game is like if call of duty gave you a banana as a "weapon" option. There are no highways in the game and as soon as any of these trucks see 1in of dirt or mud they just get stuck.
I understand your perspective, but actually i've had alot od success with all of these highway and heavy duty trucks in my time playing.
The highway trucks make no sense in snowrunner.
Use them on the highways. That's their only use. Moving freight on a semi. All they need is All Terrains and they're fine.
