When we were kids, my brothers and I attached a refrigerator box and a washer and dyer box to make a house with rooms and windows. Our dad helped us cover it with plastic to make it water proof and we would go out in it in the rain. It was one of many of my fondest childhood memories. Our cardboard “house” lasted us for almost an entire summer before it finally gave in to the elements. I think of that often with a smile 😊
When i was a kid we could not afford a fridge box and washer and dryer box...like the rich kids..we made our own tree forts out of scrap lumber from the rich kids new house...LOL
I remember doing the same thing. Me and some childhood friends would go down the street to the alley way behind the Sears appliance store and get the refrigerator boxes and put them together and cut a door way between the boxes and cut the holes in a way to cover the gap between we even used a car battery and a 12v dome light from an old car and used carpet from the carpet store next to the Sears it was a very awesome childhood experience.
Do you mean those plastic insulated boxes that you keep beer in on camping trips or a chest freezer? I am trying to imagine what you mean by refrigerator box???
@@ASBO_LUTELY I am referring to cardboard boxes big ones that a whole house refrigerator comes in they are one big piece of cardboard wrapped around the refrigerator with one seam glued together vertical from the ground to the top of the refrigerator box and there is a top and bottom cardboard cap that connects with a plastic strap wrapped around the flaps to hold it on the top and one to hold it on the bottom you take off the bottom plastic strap and lift the box up off of the top of the refrigerator and then you take the cardboard box and you lay it on the side and reattach the bottom end wrapping duct tape around where the plastic strap was because you cannot reuse that plastic strap too easily. This is pretty detailed let me know if you need better description.
@@nastyn8te328I did the same thing as a kid, went to the appliance store picked up a couple of fridge boxes on our bikes and built little rooms that we slept in over night had a similar battery setup and everything.
Remember my papaw building a foundation out in the woods. Just a random cement block, bout 10x10. He said it was for a new deer stand he was gonna make. Little did we know, it wasnt. He made it for us, to build on...whatever we wanted. We made a cardboard fort out of 5 giant pieces that we folded/cut/taped. He covered it in tar paper (he was a roofer so we had a lot), and then put some old partly busted siding on it. We put a simple frame on the inside out 1x1's, and it lasted us a little over a year before we cleaned it up and built a real fort out of solid wood. My papaw passed away since then, and i havent thought about that for a few months. Thank you for helping me remember. Anyone else love watching these camping type videos, especially when the weather is a bit rough. While wrapped up warm and cosy in bed something so comforting about it
Indeed, same here. Last winter I watched many videos of people camping through the winter, while I was cozy curled up in a warm house. Then came summer and my mind was not tuned to watching any of that. Now winter is back and so am I, enjoying these brave people do what I would not do myself anymore.
It is nice, but I recommend doing some camping. Even in rough weather, it leaves an imprint and teaches you some toughness aka knowing that you can handle rough situations

I live in Christchurch New Zealand . After the earthquakes destroyed much of our city we were very lucky to get a cardboard Cathedral designed by an amazing Japanese man who has done other cardboard structures . The cardboard Cathedral doesnt leak and its still being used every day !!
Didn't know about this and had to read up on it. Thats a fantastic building. Exiting! A lot less boring than the "standard" building that it replaced. Christchurch is not know for anything new or exiting or innovative, so this cardboard cathedral is a real gem. Too bad, that conservative amd boring old people want it demolished.
Growing up (I'm 63), we had a neighbour who's dad worked with new tractors and he brought home this really big cardboard box, it was really really thick and us kids used it as a fort, tent etc etc............... As someone that spent many years sleeping in cardboard boxes I can confirm that they are awesome for insulation. If you spray the interior and exterior with beeswax they can last several months in moist conditions.
This may seem quite deep but I’ve been watching you for years, ever since you started doing reviews and I’m 21 years old and listening to you and watching these videos always help me when I’m stressed or overwhelmed, i would like to say Thankyou very much and I can’t wait for you to hit 1 million subs, I know you can do it, just keep being yourself, and never let anyone defy you. During my sleepless nights (typing this at 1 am, lol) I watch Andy's, Simon's (bloke in the woods) and a guy called Luke's (Outdoor Gear Review) videos and they help a heck of a lot with calming me down and being able to sleep. Plus I learn A LOT! :)
Amazing how this held up better than the temu and shein tents. Soaked outside but you were completely protected and did not get wet like those ones. It looked so cosy too. Good old cardboard. Seen people make furniture out of cardboard even. Incredible stuff....
This reminds me of myself when I was dragging a big cardboard box home to play in. I got tired so I crawled in and fell asleep right there on the sidewalk. I was about 9. That was about 1971. Best nap I've had so far my whole life.
My father was in the military when I was that age and I remember having to relocate a lot. I loved makings "forts" out of those moving boxes and falling asleep in them. I guess it's the sense of pride you built something yourself that relaxes you enough to fall asleep 😴😴😌
Cardboard is a great insulator. On a forest fire back in the 90’s my issue tent was destroyed, it would be a few days before the got more so I made my own shelter using shipping boxes for the Hand tools. I used duct tape, 3 mil plastic trash bags (rain fly, and ground cloth) and para cord to hold it together, along with wooden pegs I made from sticks. Lived in it for the remainder of that fire, about three weeks. It was surprisingly comfortable.
I wonder, how helpfull trash bags can be combined with cardboard. My idea would be flatten them and perhaps ducktape them to the top or corners of your tent. Most trash bags, if plastic, can deflect water. So in my theory, you would get less contact with moisture, if you apply them right. Just a theory.
I used an old MRE box as a mattress in the jungles in japan. It pissed real good but as long as I dried it out in the sun, it did the trick. I wonder if a waterproofing spray would make the cardboard last longer?

I've watched a good number of these videos. From reading the comments i agree that getting tips on camping is one result. But these videos serve another truly fine purpose. 4 am this morning I was wide awake and mentally trying to build a better cardboard tent....that won't blow away where I live in Cape Town with the South Easterly wind. Blows up to 80 kph , 50 mph
Hello Andy! To use this tent without disappointment, you must take four precautions: - Before setting up your tent, place a rope taut between two trees, but three feet above the highest point of the tent. - Then place a tarp stretched over this rope, forming two roofs that will not touch the roof of the tent at any point. - A second canvas, a little bigger than the floor of the tent, should be placed on the ground, under the tent. It will serve to prevent the absorption of moisture by the cardboard on the tent floor. - It will also be important to make a small drain around the area protected by the larger canvas, to prevent the water coming from the roof from trying to go under the tent. I am Brazilian and I often go camping in the Amazon rainforest. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us. By the way, your cooking equipment is to be envied!
I want you to know how much joy your videos have brought me. I have probably watched like 60 hours of just you chopping wood. You have inspired me to go camping with the people I love. I can almost guarantee you have had this effect on others. You are doing important work in the world.

Love the cardboard tent demonstration. I'll use a tarp under and over the cardboard tent to prevent it getting wet and to keep my entrance dry. Its a win for winter camping with the insulation factor. Love your stove and heating element. Minimal items and wonderful camp experience. ❤❤
I was thinking much the same, maybe find a way to make the upper tarp oversail by a bit, pegged out if possible. Then it would be really cosy. Would that lessen the experience though? Hmm. Of course in the back of my mind I keep comparing it to an experience of necessity, ie homelessness, where the cardboard is less... structural.
This brings back memories when I was homeless I had no other option I was sleeping on side tracks in the wood in card board box a few times or a makeshift tent out of a piece of tarp I don't know how I survey hear in Ohio it gets so cold hear I did it for a couple years and finally got myself some help..God Shure kept me safe and got me thru it was especially a hard time on me I had just lost my dad too
Me of little faith figured you’d be floating by 5:00am. Love your content! I have been an avid camper for over 40 years and love the sound of rain on any kind of tent, this sound was unique and new to these ears. 😊
Great aren't they ? I live in Holland ... A lot of folks put a piece of plastic over the top once it's set up ! That way you'll keep dry even longer ! After all , it is CARTON ! And exposed to hard rain for a long time , it'll turn to mush . But overall , you held out well . Next time , try the plastic layer on top ! You get to spend 3 to 4 nights in this tent ! 👍👍👍 Thanks for uploading and sharing !!! ❤
It's not. Or at least, in the original version it wasn't. We got to test these things during our university introduction week, and when the rain got heavy, it sounded like machine gun fire...
If that tent had a groundsheet underneath and a tarp above it, it probably would have stood up to the rain much better. It seems like a great idea for housing for people who have been impacted natural disasters. I live in Japan and we often have typhoons or earthquakes. People are forced to live in evacuation shelters, all crowded in together, and these tents offer some privacy. The Japanese architect Shigeru Ban is famous for designing shelters using cardboard although he usually uses cardboard tubes.
Exactly what I was going to suggest. A ground sheet, taped to the cardboard on the sides, with a tarp over the whole thing, one long enough to hang down over both ends. You could even hold up the tarp in front for ventilation and a sheltered entrance.
Shigeru Ban designed the Transitional Anglican Cathedral in Christchurch NZ after the earthquakes damaged the original Stone one. We just call it the Cardboard Cathedral though.
Did not think I would enjoy a 30 minute video about a cardboard tent but the fire building and cooking techniques added value, also the location and outdoor wear and camp gear demonstrations were practical elements. All in all, very nice video, thank you for posting it.
The first thing that crossed my mind was if it would be a good idea to coat the cardboard with wax like they do produce boxes. It would probably make it more impermeable without adding too much cost to the price.
@@Turbopanner I noticed that too, but undoing cling wrap is a pain. It would have taken forever to do it. In an emergency it can be done no doubt, but it would take a while.
This was an interesting video away from the norm. I am a 79 year old former Royal Marine and lived out doors in many a Country, including Jungle, Desert and Jebels. I thought that the Cardboard Tent was an excellent idea. If the conditions had not been so extreme (heavy rain) I would imagine it would last a lot longer. I wondered why they had not covered it with some waterproof coating but then I realised they want these Tents for short term life and use, as you said. This will increase the Sales by a large margin. Loved your vid, I have subscribed and look forward to more.👍👍

When I was a kid in the 60's a group of us made a fabulous camp. There were a few deep indents in the locals woods. We thought they might have been from bombs during WW2. We put a long log across the criss crossed with fallen sticks. Then we pulled up loads of wheat from the field next to the woods and strewed it across to make a thatched roof. We put a rug inside and some of our comics. we were as snug as anythibg when it rained! Happy days!
Haha my dad tells a story about being young and setting up camp in a hollow kind of like that, to find out that night, when it started raining, that it was a dry creek bed
My family has land that has an old family cemetery on it and indented places are where the graves have fallen in. You could not pay me to bunker down there. Now if a tree falls over and there is a depression in the ground then I don’t mind.
One of my favourite things, The cold and wind as it crashes around you as you sit snug in a shelter peeping out. I have a glass hatch in my office ceiling and the rain is beautiful when it taps.
Stayed on one in Holland for five days and was well up to the job. It started letting a bit of moisture in towards the end but was pleasantly surprised. Great video.
This brings back memories of my younger days . A gang of us 9 to 15 year old s all went camping the older lads had the bright idea of building a cardboard box tent . We tacted it together with parcel tape chewing gum and string lol it was water proofed with axle grease it didn't leak but smelt a bit ....ah the good old days .
When I was young we used tarpaper as my dad had a construction company and gave us lots. Had to build a pole frame but was water proof. Smelled as well. We used a lot of thumb tacks. I still carry a match box full of thumb tacks to this day on my outings. Yup those where great days.
As a younger guy I used some of that foam board let’s put a new home construction. It’s silver on the outside and has fairly dense foam possibly fiberglass inside it’s about an inch thick was really easy to cut into shape and then you just use duct tape the silver kind or whatever you got to put it all together and it’s actually waterproof and gives a pretty good insulation value. The stuff is pretty lightweight for its thickness in size. Unfortunately, unless you could get some of that for free like I did back in the day construction materials have gone up in price dramatically. Recently saw that you could buy solar panels for less than the cost of plywood. One guy actually use solar panels and siding on his shed and then hook them into a charge controller and battery bank. Love the idea of using salvage materials to build 😅
I remember as a kid probably 21 years ago now, my dad brought home this massive octagonal box that was used to hold styrofoam containers for cheeses at his work. It was really thick cardboard. Anyway I made a doorway in the side of it and for 2 weeks I slept in that box every night, even in rain. Although the roof started to cave in a bit (but it still held) the inside stayed completely dry. I'm sure I could've stayed in it a bit longer provided there wasn't much more rain, but the school holidays were finishing and the vanity wore off. :P Good memories! Actually I remember he brought home another of those boxes and put it on the deck, and I stayed in it for 40 hours as part of a charity thing while fasting. Except I failed that challenge when my dad started taunting me with pork ribs...
It’s so nice to see honesty in a video. Rarely would you see people taking the blame for their mistake. Most would just blame the tent. Made a fan outta me ;)
Waxed cardboard is surprisingly resilient and weather resistant. Used to use waxed heavy duty cardboard boxes as sleds, when i was a kid. Could use those for weeks, and they just held up.
My dad brought home a giant cardboard box from work with 10 rolls of duck tape when we were kids, covered it with tape and it lasted a full Scottish summer, this was in the 70’s when we still had seasons!
Hi, Andy. Watche'd you just now, and I give you kudos for coming up with a cardboard tent to feature. Haven't seen anybody else on RUclips do so. I like that you are willing to try different and unusual things. Sometimes it is a no-go, like the eggy-hashbrown muffin cups, but is always fun. These cardboard shelters would work here in dry (mostly) Arizona desert, perhaps as temporary shelter for the homeless. And fun for kids. When we were kids we built a castle made from refrigerator and stove cardboard boxes. I am 75 now, and still remember the fun we had.
This would be great in the winter. Cardboard is a great insulator given the baffles in between the sheets of cardboard. Three layers of it is also great to sleep on during the cold on dirt, rock, concrete, metal; ect because if you don’t have anything to lay on the cold will eat right through your sleeping bag. Another way I used to insulate when I was homeless was put up my cheap one person tent and throw blankets over the top of the tent then string up a tarp so they would never get wet. Having the bottom of the tent insulated with three layers of cardboard inside and then a blanket on top of it to lay on. It would be 32F outside and I would stay warm inside there just in a hoody. Also if you do get a one person tent I recommend getting a roof height in the tent that’s tall enough for you to sit up straight inside the tent so you don’t have to strain your neck while just sitting. But yeah, using the cardboard tent in this video would be amazing for homeless persons in cold weather if they also put up a tarp so it wouldn’t get wet and to protect it from the sun so extend the life of the cardboard tent. And no one is going to steal a cardboard structure from them.
Housing for the homeless--I was just thinking the same thing. Having some kind of roof over your head and some privacy would be a huge improvement over sleeping on the sidewalk! 👠👠
Sadly the municipality in most areas will definitely steal these and destroy them. Insects would love them and humidity would deteriorate them. The corrugated plastic ones of the same style are lighter can be made mobile and stand up much longer.
@@KentSurvival Hey Andy...cool video & I sincerely admire your sense of adventure. But isn't a cardboard tent a bit like a chocolate tea-pot? 🙂 Best regards from Yucatan Mexico, Ben

A good oversized canvas tarp would really do the job, especially if a grand tarp was put down under it. A coat of sprayed on polyurethane would help the cardboard tent too to last longer. It might last even longer
Thank you for making this video. As a kid, my dad collected cardboard and made compressed logs for factories to fire their boilers with. Many a fort was constructed out of the various types of cardboard we had. Some of it was surprisingly water resistant. Some of it wasn't. Anyway, your tent video took me back to a simpler more peaceful time. Thank you for doing so.
Also, having recently moved from living on a boat for 3 years to a very small flat, I absolutely feel your pain with finding surprise leaks when it rains, hearing and feeling the elements is very different when you rely on your shelter to keep you dry, I can now appreciate the wonder of nature from a warm dry bed!
one thing not mentioned; the solid walls make your camp difficult to locate. (if that is your goal) great light coverage on the inside without illumination on the outside!

There's something primal and satisfying about creating a safe shelter. As kids, we made pillow forts and various outdoor forts, tents, tree houses, club houses, and other hideouts.
I never would have thought that a cardboard tent would have held up as well as it did. That is a cool little cooking set up. We use what is called a cool cell to help cool our poultry houses. They are cardboard covered with something but they last for years with water running over them 10 hours a day.

I love this concept. I’m sure one of the innovations we’ll see in the next few years will be tents made from something more rigid and weatherproof than fabric.
How unique! Festivals shouldn’t even allow tents anymore-instead part of the ticket price could include one of these! Then all goes to recycle. You were sure brave to try it in that weather!
Most festivals have clean up squads who tidy up, salvage as much as possible and mend tents to go to homeless people and others in nerd. I was shocked to learn that wet cardboard is NOT recycled. Apparently it gums up the machines so all wet/srained/damaged cardboard goes to landfill
Actually the present situation does benefit people in need, as tents discarded at festivals are now usually packed up & collected by volunteers, to send to disaster areas for use as emergency shelter.

Im 50yrs old and as a kid I remember making forts out of cardboard boxes. Mind you, I lived in the northeast and the winters would be brutal and yet, our forts, through wind, rain and snow, would never break down. They were actually warm too. Heck, I even recall two incidents where my friends and I went in and found homeless people living in them because they were warm as we were told 😂. Sadly, the only element that our cardboard box forts could never beat were the human elements. They would destroy everything we had built and made our own. Yeah, those were some good times. Thank you for sharing.
I was expecting your tent to totally collapse but I'm really pleased with the result of this. The homeless could be helped with it. Short weekend camping trips. It's my first time watching you and, really appreciate the video. Xx
I think this item could be highly useful for many short-term use purposes if it is wrapped inside of a large tarp or a large piece of plastic sheeting. It would gain protection from water, ice, or snow, and it would be a bit better insulated. Set it on top of a tarp covered wooden pallet, and it would be even better. Thanks for making this video!
Yes , as suggested a tarp over it would make it last a lot longer I'm guessing in bad weather . Cardboard and therma rest giving good warmth and comfort on the ground nice setup . Looks pretty cool.
Its always a treat watching you. You are always lighthearted and have a positive attitude towards every situation. I wold be desprate as soon as the rain would start but you stay positive and carry on. I admire this.

I feel like I am sat next to you - sharing your great food - can feel the heat from the camp fires !!! Well done - looking forward to seeing all the other tents and camping gear. 😊
What a surprisingly relaxing and comforting video to come across. I watched the whole thing with a cup of tea in a warm house and STILL thought: I wish I was there too!
Bit pricey to be considered 'disposable' but biodegradable if the plastic bits are made of something like PLA and as you said, great for festivals. The cardboard could be waxed or painted for waterproofing to extend its life, but this might be a bit of a fire hazard unless you are careful.
@@MrJakson112 I wasn't suggesting just leaving it lying about to rot, but PLA is better than the alternatives and is classed as biodegradable, but you are right, this only applies under certain circumstances.
Have you considered cloth + paraffin wax? Biodegradable and rolls up easy, pretty cheap. You'd need a few supports, but you could keep those. It'd last longer too.

I'm 70 y.o. and as a kid, I spent many a night in a refrigerator box out in the rain. This really takes me back, thanks for sharing.

Hello Andy!
To use this tent without disappointment, you must take four precautions:
- Before setting up your tent, place a rope taut between two trees, but three feet above the highest point of the tent.

I though the plastic sheet it was packaged in would be reused as a waterproof cover. Missed a chance there.

We put a long log across the criss crossed with fallen sticks. Then we pulled up loads of wheat from the field next to the woods and strewed it across to make a thatched roof. We put a rug inside and some of our comics. we were as snug as anythibg when it rained! Happy days!

Bet you all had bum fun you Nonce 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Watching this from NYC. Thank you for reminding me that happiness is possible. Camp on brother!
Lol
Haha I'm lovin' dad! 😂

The average Scottish summer is only about 3 days, so I'm not surprised that it lasted that long! 😅😅

The corrugated plastic ones of the same style are lighter can be made mobile and stand up much longer.
easier to set on fire
I'm glad you explained what the purpose behind this "tent" was! I get it. But otherwise it would make no sense whatsoever!
Nice to see so many people with happy childhood memories. Using our imaginations was so much fun. Miss those days. 🩷
I love watching a rainy camp but probably not much fun for the camper. Thanks for another enjoyable upload Andy.
haha, thanks.. the tent was a pretty nice place to be until it started to let in water
@@KentSurvival Hey Andy...cool video & I sincerely admire your sense of adventure. But isn't a cardboard tent a bit like a chocolate tea-pot? 🙂
Best regards from Yucatan Mexico,
Ben
Cardboard needs water proofing but lovely in good weather..
Thanks for sharing something new
@@KentSurvival cardboard is actually a really good Insulator. If that thing was on a tarp, and plastic or a tarp all around it. It would probably be perfect.
First time I've ever seen this guy, but the whole feel of this video (lighthearted, upbeat, mellow) is worth a sub. Off to watch the canoeing video I think 🤙
Same to me, liked the guy immediately.
Good shelter but with a tarp over perfect. Enjoyed the video, camping in the rain vids are so relaxing 👍
Good call, i was thinking have a DD on standby, cos the tent its self would be good on a cold night.
I'm thinking that a couple of coats of good exterior paint that thing could last quite a while
Spray varnish or mineral spirits & 100% silicone mix together then paint on & let dry totally water proof.
I like the idea. Under a tarp it would stay dry and a lot better insulated than canvas or nylon. I like it.
A good oversized canvas tarp would really do the job, especially if a grand tarp was put down under it. A coat of sprayed on polyurethane would help the cardboard tent too to last longer. It might last even longer
He looks like a mix between a giant and a Viking. He fits the task well and is propper jolly about it too
Thank you for making this video.
Theres nothing worse than a leak in the roof of your home when it’s chucking it down. It’s on your mind all the time until it’s fixed.
Okay, that was full on cardboard fort camping! What charming little adventure!
OMG! You should make a CAMPSITE COOKBOOK! Love the sound of the rain!
one thing not mentioned; the solid walls make your camp difficult to locate. (if that is your goal) great light coverage on the inside without illumination on the outside!
I am very, very impressed!! Never heard of a cardboard tent and trying it out in rain is wild!! Big kudos for making burgers in a cardboard tent in the middle of rain..you need a badge for that!! Outstanding content Kent!! I'm hooked!!

As a scout leader, can confirm lmao
Wonder if he had put a plastic tarp over the top if it might have lasted longer
Am I the only one who finds these videos really relaxing😃
Yes it's just you.

There's something primal and satisfying about creating a safe shelter. As kids, we made pillow forts and various outdoor forts, tents, tree houses, club houses, and other hideouts.
Oh. This would be great to set up for the kids in the backyard, for summer time parties! Thank you!
I never would have thought that a cardboard tent would have held up as well as it did. That is a cool little cooking set up. We use what is called a cool cell to help cool our poultry houses. They are cardboard covered with something but they last for years with water running over them 10 hours a day.
RUclips started recommending him again after 3 years and I'm happy
I like to think

bout bloody time they recommended this channel again!
@@canbonly1970 im subscribed but I totally lost track of him around late 2019 and I started taking hormones and sh*t so I was busy, somehow I started focusing on kitchen channels and refurbishing channels or even doll collector channels, but he is the only one I think I could never stop watching, his personality is so down to earth, it vibes with me
I love this concept. I’m sure one of the innovations we’ll see in the next few years will be tents made from something more rigid and weatherproof than fabric.
This was so cozy. I wanted to be in there reading a good book with the rain falling outside
@@dawnmoriarty9347 good to hear that about the tents at the festivals
Actually the present situation does benefit people in need, as tents discarded at festivals are now usually packed up & collected by volunteers, to send to disaster areas for use as emergency shelter.
@@sarahstrong7174 I don't think its a good idea to do this as it encourages people to leave their cheap tent because they can pretend they are doing some good
@@dawnmoriarty9347 unfortunately in the UK that is a bit of an urban myth..... The majority of them go to landfill
The sound of that rain is luscious! I wear Bluetooth ear buds to bed and listen to an awesome rain sound app. That downpour is perfect!
What app is that? I love the sound of rain while sat in a car. It’s the best sound in the world.
@@samsungw200 on iphone its built in to the phone that you can just triple press the power button and have rain noise. (it's in accessbility) on android I used to have rain noise (and thunder) on spotify.
A cardboard tent from the people who brought you the Chocolate fire guard and the ash tray for motorbikes ! Loved the vid Andy thank you.
Like refrigerator boxes we used to play in when I was a child. We made all types of communities...A kids neighborhood! Great times!!
I was expecting your tent to totally collapse but I'm really pleased with the result of this. The homeless could be helped with it. Short weekend camping trips. It's my first time watching you and, really appreciate the video. Xx
Homeless people would want that
Watching this while camping during a cold winter evening
I think this item could be highly useful for many short-term use purposes if it is wrapped inside of a large tarp or a large piece of plastic sheeting. It would gain protection from water, ice, or snow, and it would be a bit better insulated. Set it on top of a tarp covered wooden pallet, and it would be even better.
Thanks for making this video!
I am a little jealous! I love the sound of the rain, on cars, tents and cardboard. Can’t wait to hear it.
I remember I did this when I was 12years old man it was so fun! Thanks for the memories
I'm impressed. I think you could put a ground sheet under and a tarp over and it would be great. Thanks for another good video.
Yes , as suggested a tarp over it would make it last a lot longer I'm guessing in bad weather . Cardboard and therma rest giving good warmth and comfort on the ground nice setup . Looks pretty cool.
Maybe just a dwr coating like fabsil would do.
@@williambell04 you would want to do that before you go camping or it would stink inside while drying ,tape idea was good.
Its always a treat watching you. You are always lighthearted and have a positive attitude towards every situation. I wold be desprate as soon as the rain would start but you stay positive and carry on. I admire this.
I'm from Northern Canada, and I couldn't help imagining the bear 🐻 who would've joined me in that shelter... especially after cooking those burgers inside 🤣🤣
Really enjoyed watching!
Yeah, you'd need something a bit stronger..say, steel meshed concrete with iron flaps.
Kent is lucky there are no bears in the UK
lm not from Canada but l can visualize the bear thing to and chances are good it won't be Yogi or BooBoo
I'm your neighbor from Minnesota and we have similar issues while camping. Better to eat outside your tent and not store food inside. The bears absolutely will investigate.
Hahahaha I too am from northern BC Canada. And I concur with the bear issue
What a great idea - bio degradeable tent. Love the noisey patter with the rain. At 62 - my camping days are over. Your video cinematic style is excellent. I feel like I am sat next to you - sharing your great food - can feel the heat from the camp fires !!! Well done - looking forward to seeing all the other tents and camping gear. 😊
What a surprisingly relaxing and comforting video to come across. I watched the whole thing with a cup of tea in a warm house and STILL thought: I wish I was there too!
cup of Columbian coffee and watched this video. Very relaxing.
Bit pricey to be considered 'disposable' but biodegradable if the plastic bits are made of something like PLA and as you said, great for festivals. The cardboard could be waxed or painted for waterproofing to extend its life, but this might be a bit of a fire hazard unless you are careful.
PLA is definitely not degradable in nature!
My family loves cardboard boxes, I used to get long boxes from the florist I worked at and when my children neices, nephews, had sleepovers, they all slept in boxes.Great fun for them.
