Sure it's fine to be all buckled down when its heavy rain and windy but when it's just raining straight down and not too extreme I want a tent that allows me to leave a door open.

Thanks so much for this video! I live in Alaska USA so I am going to shop at Walmart for camping supplies. Doesn’t need to be fancy with the fancy prices, right! Needs to be functional!
There's loads of things you can do to a cheap tent to make it more durable and water resistant, give it coat of fabsil, use a solid plastic tarp over it, buy bivvy T pegs instead of thin ones, get extra ground sheets to give more cushioning and to keep the floor dry.
That would cost more and weigh more than just getting something from vango, karrimor or oex and still not be as good. £100 gets allot of tent fron those brands
Oh my goodness, I absolutely love watching your videos, the scenery is breathtaking, you enjoy the outside so very much, and it shows, I love the fact that you try out all different types of products and give your honest opinion, which is rare out there in the world, love all of your recipes, I never knew so much amazing stuff could be cooked on a campfire, I will definitely be trying more, cannot wait to see what you putout next, love you and your videos, stay safe and enjoy
Another great video. I use the same stove as your using but I lined the inside of the case with tin foil. ( just used a glue stick). That case then turns into a brilliant wee wind deflector.
I want camping as a kid in the 70’s many times, we spent most days in the tent due to it pissing down with rain, those were canvas cotton tents back then so after about 2 days of rain and I’m not sure if it was wetter inside our outside the tent!
I hear ya! Also as kid spent sometime in a heavy ass canvas tent. I bet it was 200lb. It did not leak unless you touched the material. Being the youngest of three you know we touched the material. So, yes it leaked.
Hello from Norway. The closest I get to camping is through you. You cook a lot of good food, which is tempting to make. Made pancakes with bacon, and bread pudding😉
It’s amazing I got near enough the exact version of this tent when I went to Glastonbury in 2017. It was bright orange. Did the job but the condensation in the morning was a nightmare. Didn’t rain much though. Had an inflatable bed which did deflate every morning and gave up in the end. Used to sleeping on the ground but boy my back hurt after 5 days ha. I think I still have the tent somewhere in the cupboard.
This kit is just the job for a week or a weekend in the woodlands. The fewer times it is packed up and stored away the better. I would not give up my carefully curated kit for any part of this Halfords set.
Living in the US we have a few "Halford" style shops depending on where you live that mostly sell cheap tools, but I would have never thought to check them for camping gear other than a cheap tarp and hatchet or the like. Always love the recipes, you make it look so easy making curry or stir fry! I make a huge mess at home and my wife hates when I cook cause I don't clean up till we're done eating. That stovetop oven is really something, I've got to get me one of those. Love the channel!
Got this last year as a first tent tbh and I've took it to about 15 camping trips with my old pug in all weather across Scotland, 25+ degree summers and spring, rainy 10 degree autumn and cold windy rainy nights in january/march along with a very miserable Download festival riddled with rain, couldn't complain tbh it kept me try at all times and with a good sleeping bag and air mattress you're good to go, I'd of invested in a tarp tbh for the porch but I abandoned it after Download as I wasn't rolling in the mud for a £22 tent at the time (shame its went up to 30 now). Bought a 4 person popup tent now though. but for starters, this is a great little tent that's easy(ish) to setup, the last pole can be a bastard at times to get in but other than that it was fine, just couldn't be bothered with another tent I have to get on my knees and roll up/fold
There's nothing more cozy than sitting by a little log fire (yep, England in July!) -watching some poor bugger camping in the pouring rain, Andy! It's a nice honest test out of Halfords gear and the tent could have been worse.. Thanks. Hope you dry out!
I love these kinds of reviews - so often I see people doing "budget" gear reviews and they're like "so this tent is only £200, any cheaper and it's useless" but I want to see the really crap ones! £25 is right in the price range where people really need to see if it's worth getting. If we could afford better it probably wouldn't matter as much, but I need to see whether the £50 tent is massively better than the £25 tent or if I can live with the cheaper one. Also, I'm lactose intolerant and never (or very rarely) have a cream tea when out and about, it's way too dangerous... but sometimes I buy myself a pot of clotted cream and some nice jam and some scones and have the whole lot to myself (jam first, obviously)! It's worth suffering for every now and then. And I'm probably gonna do it fairly soon now I've seen how good yours looked!
I remember Glastonbury 1998, ( my 30th birthday) pi55ing down rain, mud knee high and a leaky tent with a 10 year old son, not the greatest atmosphere for a birthday but genuinely unforgettable, i wish I had your demo's that year. :)
Not me I'm from Portland Oregon. I like the fire, food Andy's wit and the beautiful countryside. Which actually looks a lot like Oregon and Washington in certain areas , it's very interesting to me. Thanks again for sharing your adventures!
Re: zips, yonks ago we used to rub candle wax on zips to make them freer and I'm guessing perhaps waterproof too although I've never tested it. Love the buds though, cheers.
I always enjoy your videos. My parents took us tent camping growing up, and my husband and I continued the tradition with our family to tent regularly. Health issues have kept us from doing that for several years now, so it's fun watching your videos and getting the experience vicariously.
Camping for two nights in Glen Coe tomorrow after a long drive up from Hereford with friends. The issue is, I have recently moved house and my usual tent is buried deep in a storage unit and this was a last minute road trip planned 2 days ago. In the shed I have this exact Halfords Dome XL which we used as a storage tent last summer. Wish me luck 😂
Rains gonna be the least of your worries over next few days in Scotland. Buy some Smidge midgie repellent from the garage at Ballachulish or newsagent at Onich (2 miles past Glencoe). Thank me later😂
My first time camping was with a Halfords tent, was on special for £5 !! Upgraded quickly after that but if it wasn't for that tent I may have never started camping.
Tagine cooking please, if your taking requests and haven’t already, I haven’t got through all your videos yet (I will). Obviously a delicate item to transport but I think it would be fun. Had many a happy holiday in a Halfords tent when kids were young and I didn’t know or couldn’t afford better, I thought all tents had those faults !
I own 2 great tents , ones a 3 man & ones a 4 man & even out of the box I,ll spray a waterproofing on them & every spring I keep spraying water proofing on them every year . My 3 man tent I’ve had it since I was a teenager & it’s still going strong now that I,m in my 50s & just 2 years ago I got a 4 man , both are very light for 3 & 4 man tents & I’ve had them in some really bad down pours & none on then leak a bit . Even solo I like a lot of room in my tents , it makes me feel at home .
I'm happy you choose a very "commercial" one that everyone would buy for 1day trip or so ❤congratulations. This weekend I will go to Aviemore comping site for 4days with a 100pounds tent. Wish me luck 😅
Not everything Halfords is rubbish, I've got a 6 man Halfords tent which is perfectly good for family trips and it's always been waterproof etc. (I got it secondhand and had to clean a lot of mud off it before our first trip, strange people selling it cheap because they can't be bothered to clean it.) Halfords 12v coolbox/fridges get good reviews and I'm thinking of getting one of those, if the summer ever gets hot enough to need one.

I'm watching this while it is raining outside. The thunder blends with the video.
There's loads of things you can do to a cheap tent to make it more durable and water resistant, give it coat of fabsil, use a solid plastic tarp over it, buy bivvy T pegs instead of thin ones, get extra ground sheets to give more cushioning and to keep the floor dry.
Or just buy 1 good tent to begin with ;)
That would cost more and weigh more than just getting something from vango, karrimor or oex and still not be as good. £100 gets allot of tent fron those brands
Thanks for tips
I watch your and Marks show twice; especially when it’s “your cooking from scratch” 😊❤
I am very glad that I have found your channel. Steve Wallis from Canada quit posting so you definitely fill a void. Thanks.
Steve just posted a new video, glamping in a yurt!
It's sad, but Steve's channel has gone right down hill..
Hunker down and have a few Step 2s! Nice relaxing Camp, thanks Andy!
Camping with Steve lol brilliant bloke
Another great video. I use the same stove as your using but I lined the inside of the case with tin foil. ( just used a glue stick). That case then turns into a brilliant wee wind deflector.
I want camping as a kid in the 70’s many times, we spent most days in the tent due to it pissing down with rain, those were canvas cotton tents back then so after about 2 days of rain and I’m not sure if it was wetter inside our outside the tent!
I feel so much "cool crude grandpa" from this. This is the man im looking for at the barbeque
I hear ya! Also as kid spent sometime in a heavy ass canvas tent. I bet it was 200lb. It did not leak unless you touched the material. Being the youngest of three you know we touched the material. So, yes it leaked.
Yeah the old canvas tents are the best ,tho heavy.
Loved this video, listening to the rain while inside the tent was a good change, even if you got a little wet 😆
Thanks Andy for sharing this amazing video absolutely enjoyed watching this epic adventure cheers
Andy? You're an angel with that headlight!!😂😂😂
I remember Glastonbury 1998, ( my 30th birthday) pi55ing down rain, mud knee high and a leaky tent with a 10 year old son, not the greatest atmosphere for a birthday but genuinely unforgettable, i wish I had your demo's that year. :)
Andy there's one thing that always gets me about you Brits you love your tee, just like I love my coffee . God Save The King and God Bless
Yess!! I love ones where you got lots of rain, I feel a bit bad when you're outside haha, but once you're in the dry it sounds so peaceful!
Brilliant video, really good watch
Great stuff! Thanks Andy 😊
Ghost repellent needed there, l seen em, heard em which was woorse
Love your show ❤️
(25:08) When the collapsable bandsaw comes out it feels like Iron Man suiting up. At least in my mind, anyway. 😉😎
My first time camping was with a Halfords tent, was on special for £5 !! Upgraded quickly after that but if it wasn't for that tent I may have never started camping.
Hello from Thailand
Your videos have brought me joy. Thankyou for them
Thanks for the lovely inspiration! going up to Lappland north of Sweden on Saturday camping and fly fishing
Your videos help ease my anxiety. Thank you, Andy.
Nice review of several camping items. Peaceful rain ❤️
Jam first! The absolute correct way to do it. Geddon bird 👍🏻👏🏻
Thanks for all you share I enjoy it - wish I was out there camping too Have been thinking about how I might do it You are inspiring in a gentle way
I own 2 great tents , ones a 3 man & ones a 4 man & even out of the box I,ll spray a waterproofing on them & every spring I keep spraying water proofing on them every year .
At least you had festival weather for your festival gear! 😂
